    Knife & fork bbq ribs

Place was recommended by our friend. Very good location. Minutes walk from BV vineyard. Food was amazing and portions were generous. We shared a salad and bbq ribs. Perfect for two without any leftovers. Laidback atmosphere. Friendly staff. On site parking.

I haven't been here in a few years, but recently went wine tasting and decided Rutherford is a must visit! Waited 5 minutes for a table then ordered a glass of Azur rosé while browsing the delicious menu. I decided on the veggie burger! It was topped with a sweet soy glaze, lettuce, tomato, and melted Monterey Jack cheese & came with a side of fries. I was SO impressed by the presentation! Plus it was perfect after wine tasting (not heavy or greasy, and bursting with flavor). For desert I ordered the berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries) with sweet, fluffy cream and a mint garnish. 10s all around! The vibe, customer service, & food were all amazing. Hopefully will be back sooner than later!

Ok Rutherford was similar to all the sister restaurants of Hillstone. Reminded me of Houston's, but the food in my opinion was 3/5. I felt the food was prepared the way we wanted. We had to take our food back a few times but they were accommodating. I ordered the salmon with the potatoes and broccolini. Didn't care for the potatoes but I was able to get the creamed corn and that was quite tasty. For my drink I got a lemon drop and it was only 3/5 for me!! Felt like it wasn't mixed great! Our server faith was very nice and had great service!! I recommend her if you go to Rutherford!! She was very friendly and patient. The ambiance is nice and pretty dark inside per all Hillstone restaurants. They had a nice bar and outside bar that was a vibe!! -Marshay D.

Rutherford Grill never ceases to amaze, satisfy and tantalize the tastebuds ! We spent the weekend in Napa for my birthday and had to make sure we booked a seat at RG. The savory, soft bread combined with the prime rib & dip is simply THE BEST! The BBQ plate is a great value, not only for price point, but taste and overall "get in my belly" flavors this abundant dish provides. Yes please, an extra side of we BBQ sauce for dipping I can't forget to mention the service here never disappoints! Attentive, but not intrusive and always with what feels like genuine smiles and conversation. Hands down a must go to place if you're ever in town visiting Napa.

    Incredible Wild Rice

Danielle, our waitress was fantastic. She smiled and genuinely seemed to enjoy her job. The fish was cooked to perfection! The shrimp and sauce over it completed the dish! We haven't been here in years, but the wild rice is still our favorite! I think it use to have dried cranberries and now has figs. Either way it's delicious. Thanks for reminding us of why we come to the Napa area.

Update prior review to say the food, service and ambiance all remain excellent and consistent a year after our last visit. Decided it is going to be a restaurant we will drive from an hour away knowing we will enjoy a great meal whether it is our favorites or something new - this time I enjoyed the sausage and chicken grill platter with red cabbage substituting for the coleslaw and while I missed my usual grilled artichoke this time, it was well worth it.

We're spending the weekend in Napa and had to stop by one of our favorite spots, Rutherford Grill. Enjoyed a fantastic French dip for lunch while watching Team USA jump out to a 2-0 lead in the FIFA tournament. Great food, great atmosphere, and outstanding service as always. Thank you, Rutherford Grill, for consistently delivering such a great experience. It's one of those places we make a point to visit every time we're in Napa. Looking forward to coming back again soon

It has been 10 years since I reviewed the Rutherford Grill. Tonight's visit has me questioning whether I should return in the future. My gripe might seem petty but my order of sausage and a chicken thigh was pathetic. The thigh looked like it was cut in half. Very little meat, rubbery skin, about 2 bites and it was gone. The beanie wienies they call sausages were not much better. It seemed like a complete ripoff for the price I paid. I have frequented Rutherford Grill many times over the past 20 years. Tonight was a total let down. Not going to rush to return. Too many other places that would like to have my business. Note: prior pictures listed are not from this visit.

I had a wonderful time. The ambience is beautiful. The drive is beautiful. The service was top-tier. I sat at the bar and I was treated well. The food was amazing. I truly enjoyed the margarita artichoke as well as the jalapeño cornbread. The food is fresh and phenomenal 10 out of 10.

We regularly go to Rutherford Grill. It is one of our favorite places in the Napa area. The honey butter cornbread bytes are one of our must haves unless trying to reduce carbs. They are served in a small cast iron heated skillet. Yum. The flying Tuna tartare appetizer is a favorite that we often have. Tonight we had roasted kale with bread. We thank Helena, our server for recommending it. The double cut pork chop, cooked over the wood grill, was excellently grilled. We really like the smokiness of wood fired cooking for special evenings. For dessert, a double espresso and ice cream covered with espresso chocolate sauce. Yum. The restaurant is nicely set around the bar and the kitchen area. This makes for a nice elegant meal in a romantic setting. We highly recommend Rutherford Grill.

Rutherford grill is always our go to when we did wine tasting. Food is always fantastic here, last time we went we had the bbq ribs, the meat fell right off the bone and so good. I ordered the pork chop, super lucked out because there were only a few left. That pork chop is massive like a double decker, but the meat inside was so tender and juicy. The service is great and attentive. Ambiance is rustic, dimmed, relaxing. Only missing is perhaps a live piano music. Will come back when going for wine tasting again. Thanks.

What an amazing restaurant! This is a well known and historic restaurant in Napa that had been here for decades! Dishes here are just absolutely awesome! Atmosphere is fantastic! Service is attentive, friendly and fast! I highly recommend you make reservations because this restaurant is always busy with about a 20-30+ minutes wait time otherwise. They are well known for their french dip sandwich. It is such a unique and delicious trst that you will never forget! It is absolutely amazing! The beef was nice and medium rare as I ordered. The baguette roll the sliced beef comes in is absolutely the best and most unique. It had the perfect balance of being soft and chewy yet with a subtle crunch that you expect in a french dip. An absolute, must visit restaurant in Napa!

    French dip with the broccolini
    Milan L.

Excellent French dip sandwich. I asked for more well done meat and I got what I asked for. I usually don't eat beef but this was too delicious to pass. Shoe string French fries were great, so were the broccolini side. Hubby had the burger which tasted fine but patty was thinner than expected according to him. This place shares the same parking lot with Beaulieu Vineyard tasting room. Can walk between the two places in thirty seconds.

Yes they do. And take walkins also. If it's just you, just walk in and go to the bar and sit down. Usually reservations are good for 2 or 3 and more. My recommendation is to make one. This place is extremely popular and gets busy.

As a Hyatt member was able to use points instead of selling my Audi to pay for a one night stay. So the next morning, where to go? After a quick breakfast we ended up at The Saint for cocktails. At first we didn't think it was open since it was early and no one was in there. Upon entry it is clear this isn't a dive bar. A few high tops as you enter to the left and a nice long bar with and table against the right wall. This building takes you back to 1890 or so when it was originally a bank. I wonder how many times it was robbed at gun point and the bad boys rode off on horses with the cash??? Many of the light fixtures are original from the same time. It has a bank vault as every good bank should. But since this is a bar the vault is more a private area with seating. Since we just had a late breakfast we only had drinks. Not sure but I'm pretty sure Andrea had a Lemon Drop and I know for sure I had tequila and lime. While we were there a few high tops filled up with Chardonnay drinking ladies getting away from the family (kids and partners) for the day. And a couple of different couples being tourist. I know, I know technically we are tourist but we've spent so much time here over the years we don't feel like tourist and back in the day not long ago many people thought we lived there. Our bartender was great about explaining the details about the bank building and it's history along with a tour. Next time we are in St. Helena we will definitely be back. Actually may make a special trip from Napa just to go there.

It looked like a nice place, and we decided we would return the following day for a visit. We came in for some drinks and to enjoy the swanky interior. Dark, sexy vibes, very nicely done. It was on the emptier side when we visited, partly because it was earlier in the afternoon, and partly because people were elsewhere watching the final rounds of the World Cup, but that was fine with us, because we got out lovely bartender basically all to ourselves. Unfortunately, I can't remember his name, but he was terrific, friendly, engaging, and down-to-earth. He made us some great drinks (lemon drop for me, tequila & lime for my partner - we're such one trick ponies), and later showed us around the place. There is a lot of history in the building. It used to be a bank back in the day (and by 'back in the day' I mean the 1800's), and it still has the original vault. Beyond the vault door, there is a speakeasy-style dining room that would be absolutely perfect for a private event. We didn't try any food this time, they only had light bites on offer at that time of the day, but the dinner menu looks promising, and I look forward to having a full meal here upon our next visit. Downtown St. Helena is a bit out of the way of our usual stops in Napa, but I would make a special trip for this spot again.

For our main we split the carbonara - we were told it would be quite al dente and rich. I will 100% agree with those comments - to me it was almost like completely al dente, giving you a gum chewing texture. The flavors were rich and complex but I think eating this myself would have made me way too full. They ended the meal with a light little birthday dessert of cookies which was great.
