Had a fabulous breakfast here on a brisk Saturday morning! I ordered the Texas skillet and it was very good. Great flavor and cut up onions, peppers and potatoes. They make their own carne asada and you can tell. Came with a biscuit for 99 cents extra (not homemade), but it was still good. BF got chicken fried steak and it was excellent and full of flavor. I got his sourdough skillet toast and it was delicious. Great nostalgic cafe here on Route 66! Servers were busy as there was a constant wait for a table but we asked for refills and were served with a smile. Rumor has it this used to be a Dennys before and now it's a partially owned family business. Another reason to love and visit Kingman! read more

Stopped in for a takeout lunch. We got the chicken fried steak (which came with a vegetable, salad, and mashed potatoes) and a kids chicken strips and fries. All were packaged with utensils and catchup. The strips were excellent and the chicken fried steak was absolutely fantastic. The zucchini was grilled and was equally delicious. This was one of the best meals we've had on our westward Route 66 adventure. I highly recommend this establishment. Since we're traveling with the dogs we don't go inside most places for meals. read more

Gayle and I were recently heading to Las Vegas from Phoenix, when the topic of Lunch came up. After a couple Google and Yelp searches, we decided to get our "Kicks on Route 66" and try out Rutherford's 66 Diner. We exited off I-40 and enjoyed seeing the old (and operating) roadside motels before rolling into the Diner. When were were done, we continued on where our connection with US 93 was pretty straightforward. Note: The US 93/I-40 Intersection going the other way can be a real mess. The Diner itself has a bit of a Denny's feel and perhaps a little frayed from it's years of service to the Kingman community. Diner staff (wait, kitchen, etc.) seemed to be a little on the young side, which made us both wonder weather there had recently been an ownership or a generational family change. We were greeted quickly and seated in a nice comfortable booth near the window. The subsequent handoff to our server dropped, so after "standing up and walking over", our good service resumed. We were both in the mood for something green, and found that their Cobb Salad was really good and plentiful. A limited selection of adult beverages were also available, which we took single serving advantage. I was driving after all. Overall, this was a very neat place to get off the Interstate and enjoy a locals/tourist food Joynt. Good quality food, nice portions, and value pricing is always a good combination no matter where you stop for a travel break. Note: The posted hours when we were there suggested that Rutherford's was concentrating on breakfast and lunch. However, check before you come as we think we say hints of past or upcoming dinner service. read more

We stopped by for lunch and ordered the Greek sandwich, 50/50 chorizo burger and a milkshake. The waitress was very energetic and nice. She checked in with us promptly and had a lot of great suggestions. I was initially going between the super breakfast burrito versus the Greek sandwich but when I asked she said the burrito was indeed quite large and I didn't think I could handle it. Too bad because it was a great price at $10.99. The Greek sandwich ($10.99) was delicious. I was very happy I got it. The flavors of the vinaigrette with the chicken, spinach, tomato and artichoke was something I honestly haven't tried in a sandwich before. Although delicious, it was VERY messy. Understandable though because of the sauce, so just be mindful of that. The bread was a little soggy on the bottom because of this but I didn't mind because the flavor was there. The fries on the side were crispy and good. The 50/50 chorizo burger ($12.99) was good. You can taste the bacon inside the burger and as the waitress said, you can really taste and see the bacon pieces on the inside. The person I was with loves bacon and he said he was so glad he asked for suggestions because this was delicious! Both of the burger and sandwiches comes with fries or if you upgrade for $1.99 more you can get onion rings. The milkshake ($4.99), we choose to get all three flavors (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry). To our surprise you can actually taste strawberry bits in there. Almost like real pieces of strawberries inside. The ambiance was great, so many locals and a family friendly diner. They had seating outside but it didn't look like they were serving there? Nobody was sitting outside but there were a good amount of customers inside. There was plenty of booths and seating inside. No Covid precautions in terms of servers/staff wearing masks just FYI. Yelp check-in gets you 10% off so don't forget to check it! You should definitely stop by if you're driving through! read more

Came here because the reviews said it was a good spot. And they didn't disappoint. It has the old school small town diner feel you see in the movies. The decor is drab, but that is almost the charm of it. The food is excellent. The first place I've been to where they actually dredge their country fried steaks. Full five stars for the quality of food and friendliness of the staff. We were here twice, once for dinner, and the morning after for breakfast. We had burgers for dinner, and they were the best we ever had. They were so good that we had burgers again for breakfast. It was no problem to substitute fries for hashbrowns to make a compromise for breakfast. We love this place, and will be back. read more

Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - two of the three dishes were amazing but lost a point for the sad omelette - 5/5 - Country fried steak dinner with sunny side up eggs, mashed potatoes, and English muffin. They were super generous with the sauce which was over the steak and potatoes and it was AMAZING! The steak was thin and tender. The sunny side up eggs were fried well with a nice bite but still wonderfully runny without being oily - 5/5 - NY Steak 8 oz with scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sourdough bread. We asked for the steak medium rare and it was still pink inside, great cook! It has a subtle smoky taste which complimented it well. The bread was nicely buttered and toasted - 2/5 - Philly cheese steak omelette with hash browns and white bread. The omelette was over cooked and dry. While there was a slice of cheese melted on top, it was quite chewy and had an old oil taste. They provided a salsa which had a bit of acidity but couldn't save the omelette Ambience: 5/5 - super cozy atmosphere and family vibe. They added extension for the booths. This shit hole serves dog food and will gladly have you wait an hour for the displeasure of eating there. The country fried steak I was served was burned to hell on one side, that they then served and tried to hide by covering that side with gravy. Go literally anywhere else. They refused to take the dry burger and greasy fries off the check once they delivered the dumpster fire of a meal to our table. They notified us after the food was delivered that they only had one cook. A shame, because if they would have told us up front before ordering, we would have skipped it because we didn't have time to wait. They acted like it is the diner's fault that they only have one cook. The dirtbag owner also thought it was perfectly acceptable to take almost an hour to make a couple of diner meals. The young waitress is a liar. Skip it. read more

Started with just coffee, which wasn't spectacularly good? No flavor to it ... maybe it's the water? I'm not from the area so not used to it. Large menu to choose from for breakfast. Ordered the 10oz ribeye and 2 eggs, OM, wheat toast and skipped the potatoes, tomato slices instead. Steak looks larger than 10 oz , grilled right and the eggs were correct also! Could not tell if real butter was used on the toast?? I only ate 1/2 slice. I didn't like the tomatoes. Slight aftertaste! Very weird, Almost fishy? I know, spooky ... don't even recall fish on the menu? 2023 diet is low carb and this fit the bill. I would still come back again and my waitress Autumn was great! Men's bathroom only had a small dollar coin size LED light above the urinal, and wasn't a heated space. Checkout lady couldn't tell me the coffee brand. Just fyi! read more

The staff was friendly, but also moving quickly so no time for chitchat. The food was basic, but all of it was good.
