I will start by saying I have NEVER had a bad experience at Ruth's until today. We love it so much we drive 20 minutes just to get there. I have never been so disappointed in Ruth's Cafe than I am today. It started off with the employee say OH I think I just gave your order to a lady that just left. He proceeds to go out to the parking lot to find her so fast I didn't have time to say don't bother. I would not have taken it if he found the lady leaving I don't know what she did when she got in her car with the food. That is probably a common mistake so we understood. We did not door dash we placed our own order to pick up because of how long our commute is. We don't mind the drive 20 minutes to Ruth's because it USED to be that good. We told the man we have plans and if the meal cannot be made as priority then refund us. He said the meal could be made immediately. He claimed we would get a discount but that didn't happen and we didn't have time to argue. We get to our destination only to discover that the sausage was so scarce in the gravy that I had to laugh from being so mad. The gravy tasted like flour with no seasoning. I didn't eat it and through it in the trash. The skillet we ordered was missing the avocado that we paid extra for. I'm speechless. I guess just checking and counting the items in the bag to make sure everything was there was not enough we should have opened the container and the cup wrapped in Saran Wrap in the crowded lobby and looked through it. My first time here, after many recommendations from friends. Everything on the menu looked amazing, so many unique items. When I eat breakfast out I prefer to order something unusual or unique. I ended up ordering the scramble of the day, which contained asparagus, pesto, cheese, and a few other ingredients. It was excellent. The sourdough toast was very good, and so was the homemade jelly. I was with two of my friends, both of them ordered omelets. Everyone was very happy with their food, and service was very good. The decor is very interesting and unusual. Stopped by this super eccentric and adorable cafe today for lunch and my head was like a swivel because I kept looking around at all the interesting things they had on the wall and their light fixtures. This place was talked about and suggested for lunch so I, and a couple girls went today. Our server was not the best, but the food was incredible. I had a crab cake sandwich and a side salad for $12!!! I was shocked like this has to be fake crab for such an excellent price, but it was the real deal. Topped with avocado, pico, and havarti cheese this sandwich was phenomenal. The sandwich came with a side salad with champagne vinaigrette and the dressing was so yummy. I snagged pictures of everyone else's good. One person got a scramble and the other a chicken Caesar salad and they both enjoyed it! The wait can take a minute as it's a fairly small place. But it's worth it. OK, this isn't something that's going to matter to many. But the genius of sound insulating the place with umbrellas from the ceiling is fantastic! Service is great. Everyone wants you to feel at home. Food is to die for. I've been 4-5 times now over the years (see one previous review), and generally it's been very good. This time I had the crab cake sandwich. Granted, I may be sort of picky when it comes to crab cake but only in the sense that most mid-Westerners are not. It's not like I'm from Maryland or the Gulf or anything. I did ask the server her opinion of it before ordering and was told it's very good. It wasn't. There was no lump crab, and the texture/consistency was akin to cat food. It was crispy only in places on the very outside but decidedly gooey inside. They used what seemed like a lot of filler, whether that be bread crumb and egg or something else, and it gooed out of the bun with each bite. I've never tasted cat food to compare it in that aspect, but the taste in no way made up for the texture, and I will leave it there. I didn't enjoy it at all. Dining partner remarked his lunch was "fine" but he's curmudgeonly anyway, so it was probably good. My advice would be not to offer a crab cake if you don't know how to make a really good one. read more

We visited at round 1pm on a Wednesday. It was HOT outside and there were patrons eating on the patio. We figured it must've been incredibly busy because of that, but it wasn't! They just wanted to sit in 90 degree heat. We were promptly seated inside and asked for drink orders. I got the Brie (B)LT on multigrain with fresh fruit on the side. INCREDIBLE! I'm usually wary of getting any type of BLT sandwich since I have an egg allergy and cannot have mayo. There was NO mayo on this sandwich to begin with, so no confusion to be had there! That was probably one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. The bacon was perfect. The Brie perfectly melted. And great crunchy, fresh romaine lettuce. The multigrain bread has seeds in it, and it was lightly toasted. It was so delicious. The fruit cup came with an orange wedge which was a very nice surprise. My first time visiting and I was impressed! My girlfriend and I arrived around 10:30 which was a perfect time considering it got packed fairly soon after. Our server was amazing, accommodating, attentive and helpful. The environment have farmhouse kitchen, which I love, so it gave the feeling of being home and tables were spread out adequately so you're not sitting on another persons lap. I ordered the specialty at the moment which was, lemon pound cake French toast, house made sausage and over-easy eggs. No complaints on either and everything tasted amazing!! I absolutely loved my solo breakfast here. My "The Traitor" Benedict came on the most heavenly potato cakes I've ever had. I could eat them every day! I added aspargus to mine which was absolutely the right move. The salad plus my breakfast was absolutely perfectly sized as a breakfast portion, I was satisfied and didn't leave anything left on my plate. Our favorite brunch spot for a busy Saturday morning. The cute and kitschy environment wakes you up as you sip on the smooth coffee. Not only can you enjoy the local, eclectic art, but you can buy it too! Now on to the food. The options are endless, but our waitress, Nurse Ratched (that's how fun this place is) gave us some strong suggestions. The Indiana Benedict was perfectly cooked. The bold and robust flavor carries through each bite. The breakfast sandwich was on a fresh ciabatta bread that paired well with their goat cheese. The bacon was cooked perfectly, and the potatoes topped it off quite well. I don't know how we had room, but we got the lefsa which made my Norwegian heart so happy. So my coworkers and I were set for a thai food lunch and found our restaurant had closed. So, with no idea of where to go, a colleague suggested Ruth's Cafe. We arrived around 11am on a Wednesday and were able to be seated immediately (a group of 3). Immediately I fell in love with all the decor! Very funky and unique vibes and great conversation starters! We were seated at the pig wall and also had a great view of the Grinch wall as we dined. I ordered the cheesecake pancake and a side of breakfast potatoes. You only need one pancake as it is humongous! The pancake is loaded with chucks of cheesecake! I even got bits of graham cracker crust!!! I could barely finish half! I loved the environment and the staff was wonderful as well. I'll be back for sure as there were multiple items on the menu that I wanted to sample! Yellow Placemats on the wall to create the sun in the sky...decoupaged furniture each with its own theme...umbrellas hanging from the ceiling...everywhere you look there something interest to stare at! And that's good because service was a tad slow, but we didn't care because we were discussing our surroundings. My favorite dining companion and I enjoyed a short stack and the Old School. First of all, the short stack is two dinner plate sized fluffy pancakes. They are thick! I'm talking 1/2 inch thick. One order can feed 4 people! No exaggeration. The old school was a perfect combination of meat and eggs. The eggs were fluffy. The bacon was crisp. The sourdough toast was buttery. The homemade wild berry jam was different. Every bite, I could taste a different berry. Very interesting, but overwhelming. I'll stick to just plain ol strawberry jelly. Service was good. Very personable. Attentive, albeit slow. But there was one server for each side of the house - and they were moving! Can't wait to return and dine al fresco. Sidewalk cafe style. I'm excited just thinking about it! Our waitress was very busy yet still attentive! I ordered French toast with PB, bananas and chocolate chips (delicious I know!!). It was so yummy. I also had an egg scramble with jalapeno peppers, green peppers, mushrooms and onions. I asked for turkey bacon but unfortunately never received it. That was okay though, I was stuffed! I felt the food and quantities were well worth the price - which was very reasonable. They were busy the entire time we were there, with a line out the door waiting! The ambiance was fun and felt very homey. I would definitely go back - and if a nice day, probably even sit on their patio! On this particular #ThankYouThursday I am singing the praises of Ruth's Cafe! I've been in before (pre-covid) and they're always PACKED! This local spot is tucked into a strip center across the street from Keystone at the Crossing Shopping Mall and the interior is super fun, quirky and cozy. This morning, I was out of breakfast foods and had a lot of meetings lined up for the day. I didn't want to start my day off with no breakfast, so was pleased to see that Ruth's was one of the few breakfast spots nearby where I could order a breakfast sandwich for delivery. I went for an egg, white cheddar and turkey bacon sandwich on a biscuit, with a side of fruit. It was a $10 sandwich, $16 total with delivery (next time I'll choose pick-up to save that moolah!). I chose the 1/2 salad and 1/2 soup lunch combo and it was the perfect amount of food! I even took some home. I picked the tomato soup and chicken salad salad. The soup was SO GOOD - perfect texture and flavor. The croutons it came with were seasoned perfectly. The chicken salad also has lots of flavor and the perfect creamy to crunchy. I was very full after this meal. The inside is decorated so cute with lots going on and to look at. We went around lunch time and didn't have to wait for a table, but it was a steady flow. This place can best be described as cool yet quirky. And, while your eyes will never get bored, the food left something to be desired. As soon as you walk in you will notice that every wall is brightly colored and covered from head to toe in different pictures and trinkets. The menu has about twice as many lunch options as breakfast options, so I was a bit disappointed I was there for breakfast. They had all the typicals (eggs, biscuits, meats), but other than that, nothing made me say "wow that sounds really good." We ordered a breakfast sandwich and a quiche, both with 'hash browns' that are actually chunks of potatoes. The main items were pretty good, but the potatoes were so greasy it seemed like they had been dunked in oil before they were brought out. I will note that the coffee was pretty good, and we got some to go without an extra charge. However, our total still came to just over $35 for two -- a little bit pricey in my opinion for the quality. read more

I love the eclectic and sassy interior design, and luckily during COVID they've expanded their outdoor seating to accommodate social distancing inside. I love Ruth's menu, even though it's been cut down because of COVID currently, you still can't go wrong with whatever you order. They put a unique twist on all of the basic breakfast foods with fresh, high quality ingredients and delicious combinations you didn't realize you needed in your life. Visited here for the first time during Covid for a Sunday morning breakfast. Luckily it is located in a strip mall with ample parking. They are observing social distancing in their tables inside which is great. There is also outdoor sidewalk or patio seating available. Immediately you'll be struck by the quirky eclectic yet artsy interior where walls and furniture and chairs are covered in something unique painted or something with a sign. By the way everything on the walls are up for sale and available for you to take home with purchase. The menu has a lot of the classics and staples that you expect for a breakfast place however they also have specials on the walls. This place is unique not only to behold but also to eat. The silverware flatware and plates and cups do not match intentionally and it's great to see this quirkiness. The food itself is delicious fair portioned and fairly if not lower priced considering the area. It is great to have this smaller business that is not a chain in this heavy commercial area. I would definitely come back here as opposed to going to the larger chain restaurants that are probably trendier. read more

First time coming here solely based on the parking situation that makes it difficult. The coffee had great flavor and was perfect to enjoy black without adding sugar or creamer. The lefse was also an amazing treat! For the price you do get quite a bit of food. I didn't feel my potato omelette was very flavorful, so that's why I'm giving 4/5 stars. It was just okay.
