I came here on a weekend evening and had my meal at the bar. I should have timed it better to hang out for the acoustic guitarist who started playing around when I got the check, but now I know they have live music! The bartender was nice and attentive, and I got a Guinness because that was the only dark beer they had, but it's always a good one. The bread that came out was good, but the oil and olives it came out with was unbelievably good!!! I took some to go and it was just stellar. I been to Ruvo's in Greenlawn, numerous times and finally made it to Port Jefferson. It Is bright and has a harbor feel to it. I order catering several times a week for my job and I've never run into such a flippant and rude employee. You turn down a $500 catering order? Ok! Quality had gone down here anyway. We came on a Sunday night after a show in the local theater. The food and service were great. Unfortunately, my husband uses a scooter and it was an issue getting him into the restaurant. They stated it was a historic building so they couldn't add a ramp. They could easily add a ramp onto the back patio and have access through the porch. Shame on them. Sometimes "meh" reviews end up falling to the back-burner. Those experiences aren't always the most fun to write about because they weren't amazing (or insanely horrible). I guess that's how I view my somewhat recent dinner at Ruvo with my fiancée and a couple of friends. Ruvo is snuggled into Port Jefferson right next to Old Fields and mostly facing a parking lot. It has a small house-style exterior which gives it this Italian/Tuscan quaintness about it. The interior continues with much of the same vibes and this carried into the dining room where we ate. Our waitress was friendly and attentive for the most part, though grilled chicken was ordered to accompany my friend's pasta and that didn't make it to the order (and she didn't return fast enough to correct that error). A free dessert was offered so at least there's that. Beyond respectable ambiance and employees, the food at Ruvo really falls around that middle of the road feeling. I mean I'm not going to say that my chicken parmesan wasn't tender and quite large in size, but it also didn't have any resounding flavor (and honestly the sauce or something tasted a tad off). My fiancée's rigatoni alla vodka was pretty good as well with their take of sprinkling some pesto on top, but it fell short to many others I've had. I will give some props to the bread basket with oil and olives as well as the tasty tartufo dessert we ordered, though no other props can really be given. Most importantly, it just kind of irked me about the pricing of things here. I understand inflation and some restaurants are just a little pricier than others, but $24 for rigatoni alla vodka without any meat just felt overpriced. My $28 chicken parmasean was a tad more reasonable, but even that was higher than it should've been. I can go to Ragazzi in Nesconset and get the same meal for $24 with tastes that are exponentially better. Just sayin'. Overall, Ruvo isn't really anything special to write home about. They have a really nice setup and the staff seems to be friendly, but the food doesn't live up to it's pricing and honestly might not even if it were a tad cheaper. We'll call this a 2.5 star review with a round up for those handful of positives. Meh. read more

Went here Wednesday night for their prix fix menu. There were 4 of us so we each ordered a different appetizer to get a variety. We shared the flat bread, meatballs, Caesar and mixed salad. All were tasty and delish with pleasant presentation. Our mains were also very good. Three of us got the flounder/shrimp combo and one got eggplant rollatine. We all had leftovers as the servings were plentiful. For dessert two ordered cheesecake and two ordered the chocolate peanut butter cake. I didn't care for the chocolate peanut butter cake. There was just something that tasted off to me. The rest of the table enjoyed their selections. Overall, lovely place and our food was good. My suggestions would be.... Our waiter, although young and adorable had a huge amount of poofy hair , pompadour like, on his forehead and I think he should be asked to pull it back. I would not recommend the chocolate peanut butter cake and lastly this place is not handicap accessible. One of our guests had a walker and it was a challenge to get in and out of the restaurant due to steps. read more

Ruvo is the perfect restaurant for Southern Italian food! Not on the busy main street, parking right outside the door, beautiful building... but the main attraction is the food. I've been eating authentic Italian food for 50 years, and their sauce literally had me in tears. The eggplant rollatini was among the best I ever had! Pasta cooked to perfection. And the desserts... I typically take tons of photos when I go out to eat, especially if it's a new place I've never been to. I wanted to enjoy myself entirely and missed a few shots of the incredible food at Ruvo. Last minute reservations were made and there were no regrets. The attendant and servers were wonderful and attentive. The place was beautiful packed with people. Beautiful live acoustic music was playing in the background. The perfect noise balance. Loved it! The ambiance was great and let me tell you about the drinks (no photo) . My daughter and I both had the "Coconut Martini". DELICIOUS! Just the right amount of Vanilla Vodka, Coconut Rum, Cream of Coconut & Pineapple Juice! (So bummed I didn't take a photo). I love a good salad and the mixed greens was just ok for me. It did taste delicious and I ate the whole thing , but it was soggy from all the dressing. Again, it still was really good. Perhaps ask for dressing on the side. Then the BEST part...my entree "Rigatoni w/meatballs" OMG. I wasn't expecting this. I had 4 nice sized meatballs in my dish. Yes, 4. I was expecting the usual 2 with a typical pasta dish. Yeah, no. I got 4 and it was perfect and as perfect as the al dente pasta. I was a happy girl for sure. (I couldn't eat it all. I tried, but nope). The sauce was so flavorful and it wrapped itself so effortlessly around the rigatoni. Perfect amount of chunky tomatoes which made the sauce not watery/runny. It was my first visit to Ruvo. My wife and I ordered Calamari followed by the 14oz NY strip steak. The steaks were cooked medium rare and served as ordered. The calamari was perfect too. We also ordered the lobster bisque which was on special. The soup was delicious and had an ample amount of lobster mixed in, a must order. Overall, it was a very full and well presented meal at a reasonable price. I liked the overall ambiance and the other patrons seemed to be enjoying their experience too. I went to Ruvo during fall 2022 restaurant week. What a great meal! I started with the meatballs and my friend started with the flatbread. We both shared our appetizers. We both thought the meatballs where some of the best we've had. So good! The flatbread was good too. Our entrees where delicious and the portions where large. I ordered the salmon, she ordered the duck. The salmon was cooked perfectly. It was flakey and glistening. Beautiful! The duck was good, although a tiny bit dry but it had great flavor. For dessert I ordered the gelato of the day (coffee hazelnut). It was heavenly. My friend ordered the flourless peanut butter cake. Decadent and tasty. The presentation of both the entrees felt a little old fashioned but that's just me being nit picky. The menu had good options, it felt creative while also staying traditional. Went to Ruvo for New Years Eve for a 5:30 made a reservation, only to find out there was a prixe fix menu (average 75pp). Not once did anyone tell us. It would have been ok if told but we were not. told to make a decision to spend that type of money and get nothing extra. The place is nice it has a Bohemian, Vintage kinda feel, I went there because I heard they played live music on fridays , but the person playing that night was not great . The people there were friendly and polite . The server I got was a nice young man but he wasn't very dedicated in my opinion, didn't seem to know the menu very well cause didn't know how to explain when I asked about dishes. The food took an hour to come out, except for the appetizer which was the Buratta salad , the cheese was excellent but the Bruschetta was way to sour too much vinegar sorry. We ordered 2 burgers a meatball riggatoni and Salmon dish the only one that was outstanding was the Salmon the blend of ingredients the quality and the way it was cooked with the squash mash under with the Risotto was absolutely delicious combination of flavors ! I would go back just for that dish but can't say the same for the Riggatoni the meatballs lacked flavor and the sauce was too acidic. The burgers were good. read more

I get to go on a lot of work dinners which is always nice. This time I got to come to port Jeff and Ruvo was a hit. The atrium private room was beautiful. I like that we had are own restroom.For apps we had calamari and bruschetta. For my main dish I had rosemary chicken with mashed potatoes and broccolini which left me super happy!For dessert I had the cheesecake. The food, ambience, and staff was everything a restaurant should be. I will absolutely come back here with my family and friends. Terrible customer services. I'm a fan of the Port Jeff restaurant scene, but this spot handled US sooo rudely. Arrived on a Sunday evening to what seemed like a half full dining room. Was told that the wait was 35-40 minutes ( place was not packed at all so that was weird ). Took my number and never texted or called...... maybe we didn't fit the 'LOOK' of the crowd...... silver lining was that we went down the block and found a top tier restaurant ( Castaway - right across from the port Jeff ferry ). Leo C Had reservations for 12 for dinner Sunday 12/1/24 my girlfriend and I ordered the same dish Seafood Fra Diavolo, was supposed to come with linguini we got spaghetti, my dish had approx. 6 shrimp my girlfriends had no shrimp. before our meal bread with oil and olives we brought out to the table, I arrive the oil was finished, I had to ask 3 times for more oil it did not come with any olives like the first one. My sister was still eating the waiter proceeded to remove her plate until she said she was not finished. I was still eating our waiter proceeded to take dessert orders then a few minutes later asks if I wanted a container to take leftovers home, I was still eating. 4 of us had a wonderful dining experience at Ruvo Port Jefferson last night. The food was excellent and our server, Hailey was wonderful and personable. She is a credit to the restaurant. Overall an excellent dining experience. We received our bill and while talking with our friends I just paid the bill without really going over it. When I got home I glanced at the bill and noticed we were charger for every iced tea and diet coke refill. $21.70 for two iced teas and three diet cokes. I find this appalling. Your restaurant is not inexpensive and is a fine dining location. To be charging for every refill without anyone telling you, and nothing on the menu feels like nickle and diming on beverages. I honestly have never been to a restaurant that does this and I find it cheap on the part of the restaurant. Our bill was $295 so I have no issue spending money but to be charged over $20 for a couple ice teas and soft drinks truly left me aggravated which is not the way I wanted to end my night after such a nice experience. read more
