Terrible customer services. I'm a fan of the Port Jeff restaurant scene, but this spot handled US sooo rudely. Arrived on a Sunday evening to what seemed like a half full dining room. Was told that the wait was 35-40 minutes ( place was not packed at all so that was weird ). Took my number and never texted or called...... maybe we didn't fit the 'LOOK' of the crowd...... silver lining was that we went down the block and found a top tier restaurant ( Castaway - right across from the port Jeff ferry ). Leo C Had reservations for 12 for dinner Sunday 12/1/24 my girlfriend and I ordered the same dish Seafood Fra Diavolo, was supposed to come with linguini we got spaghetti, my dish had approx. 6 shrimp my girlfriends had no shrimp. before our meal bread with oil and olives we brought out to the table, I arrive the oil was finished, I had to ask 3 times for more oil it did not come with any olives like the first one. My sister was still eating the waiter proceeded to remove her plate until she said she was not finished. I was still eating our waiter proceeded to take dessert orders then a few minutes later asks if I wanted a container to take leftovers home, I was still eating. The food was very good, but the service was horrible I felt rushed, and they were not even busy, prices I thought were high. Don't think I would go back. read more

We went there last night as part of the LI restaurant week promotion. I have to say, the RW menu was impressive enough to lure us in to give them a shot. Upon arrival, we were able to find parking in the adjacent parking lot whereby 2 hours parking came out to roughly little over 2 bucks...so definitely affordable. When we walked in, our table was promptly ready for our reservation. Judging by the space inside, it definitely accommodated a lot of tables which is a good thing. Both of us ordered from the RW menu which was $45 pp. My wife had the braised veal meatballs to start, followed by the boned-in duck, and the flourless peanut butter chocolate cake. She loved all her dishes. The portion was amazingly large but in a good, tasty way. Nothing was over the top and everything had a purpose. The meatballs came in 4 pieces and these are extremely large. The 1/2 duck was well roasted and nestled nicely in the orzo wild rice. Of course, she had to go for the gluten free flourless cake which she enjoyed. I had the calamari fritti, followed by NY shell steak and then finished up with mint chip tartufo bomba ice cream. The calamari was plentiful and it came with both a ranch style dipping sauce and calamari tomato sauce. I did wish the calamari was a tad more crispy. The steak was cooked to perfection at the requested medium rare. I did wish they go lighter on the demi glaze...but that's a minor thing. The mini chip ice cream and its presentation was on point. Lastly, the service was attentive and we were checked on often and the bread to start was piping hot and incredibly soft. We heard there are specials being offered throughout the week so definitely worth checking them out. Based on today's visit, I give them 4.5 stars and will certainly come back. read more

4 of us had a wonderful dining experience at Ruvo Port Jefferson last night. The food was excellent and our server, Hailey was wonderful and personable. She is a credit to the restaurant. Overall an excellent dining experience. We received our bill and while talking with our friends I just paid the bill without really going over it. When I got home I glanced at the bill and noticed we were charger for every iced tea and diet coke refill. $21.70 for two iced teas and three diet cokes. I find this appalling. Your restaurant is not inexpensive and is a fine dining location. To be charging for every refill without anyone telling you, and nothing on the menu feels like nickle and diming on beverages. I honestly have never been to a restaurant that does this and I find it cheap on the part of the restaurant. Our bill was $295 so I have no issue spending money but to be charged over $20 for a couple ice teas and soft drinks truly left me aggravated which is not the way I wanted to end my night after such a nice experience. read more

Our server/bartender Deeanna went above and beyond to make our dining experience not only comfortable but also enjoyable. Very attentive and friendly. We visited RUVO Port Jefferson at 7 PM on September 14, with our friends, expecting a delicious meal and fine service. The server spilled a plate full of ketchup on me and I sat through the meal with the right leg of my pants soaking wet from trying to remove the ketchup. While the server kept bringing over wet cloths, the manager of RUVO never even came over to apologize for what happened or offered a glass of wine or a dessert. And, on the way out the manager told me that I should send them the cleaning bill and they would pay for it. They were sent the $5.50 cleaning bill a few days later. It is now October 2, and I have not received any reimbursement. Perhaps they consider $5.50 too expensive to clean a pair of slacks, or they just don't give a damn. KennyB read more

Appetizers here are very tasty. The menu is kind of limited in that they don't offer a variety of sauces yo go with your pasta of choice. I had the shrimp linguine which was oily and lacked flavor. My brother got the flounder which I enjoyed. Light and fluffy. My sister enjoyed the beef ribs while I found them to be underwhelming. The sides though were very good. I really enjoyed the polenta. Staff is not rude but not very happy either. Out waitress only put our mains in after she collected our appetizers which made know sense and caused us a lot of aggravation. It's been over 2 years since my husband and I visited Ruvo but I do remember having a wonderful dinner and service was right on point. This time we sat at the bar and ordered the $12 lunch and cocktails. Hubby had the Smash Meatball Flatbread and I enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and French Fries. We both agreed that our choices were delicious and satisfying. OMG the fries were the best I've ever had and I told them so. They replied that they hear this all the time. Cocktails were pretty good , maybe should have been a bit stronger since they don't offer happy hour on a Saturday afternoon. I love the quaint and cozy feel of this establishment. Last time we were here for dinner it had a comfortable intimate vibe and I remember there was live music by the bar area. This restaurant is located on Wynn Lane, 2nd left after THEATRETHREE. I emailed them 3 weeks ago. Still no reply. As for them never bringing food from one table to another ... we were seated in the small room to the left of the bar. We watched as the server walked with the food he had removed from our table, into the small alcove they were coming/going from. He stood there holding the plates, spoke with someone else and then walked over to the table next to us where he then served the food to the patrons next to us. The plates didn't leave our sight. I don't expect perfection from any restaurant, especially on a busy night like this. That said, I would have respected you more had you just apologized and actually owned up to the mistake we witnessed the staff member making - instead of telling us what we witnessed was something different. read more

It was Friday and although most people were not working, I had a couple of things to finish up so I went in for a couple of hours. As long as Mrs. E came with me I promised her lunch. We started at "Fifth Season " in Port Jefferson. Closed. Next we tried "Harbor Grill ", the former "Schaefer's", also closed. Then I remembered "Ruvo", tucked away on Wynn Lane, off the municipal parking lot. Sign reads " Home of the $12 Lunch ". Ok I'm in. I was here many years ago just after Ruvo took over from " The Printers Devil ". That's right I have a couple of years under my belt. We're seated right away in a cozy booth. The $12 menu is pretty expansive with a couple of of up charges if you wish. I had the Eggplant Rollatini with spaghetti. This meal was fabulous, just Fabulous and the Spaghetti was cooked perfectly for me, a little el dente, just the way I like it, and a perfect size serving of both the eggplant and the spaghetti. For the two of us with drinks, total bill $30. Ruvo, why have I stayed away for so long? Wife had some kind of fish with rice. Started out meh but after a while it grew on her, sort of like me, and she ended up loving it. Keep that cozy booth warm for us because we will definitely be back. Every March 19 three friends all born on March 19 pick a restaurant for dinner. This year it was my choice to pick. I chose Ruvo because we were always satisfied there. The dinners were good as always, but we were surprised by one incident. We always bring in St Joseph zepoli for deserts as it is not on every menu.March19 th is St Joseph's day . When we took out the pastry we were told there is 2$ surcharge per person. Believe me it's not the $12 it's the wait was put to us. After we disputed the charge we said we were not coming back the manager said don't come back! The managers name was Jill. well yes Jill we won't come back. Last week we had an unexpected family gathering and I wanted to take all 14 of us to this Italian place in Port. I called and asked if I could have a reservation for 14 and they said we only take reservations for 10. I said okay how about a reservation for 10 and a reservation for 4 and for some reason that blew her mind. No you will need to reserve our event room and that's booked already plus 14 isn't enough people to reserve that room. Okay, how about a table for 10 and a table for 4 next to each other? Oh no , cant be done. Mind you, this was not near dinner time there were at least 8 hours to arrange the tables. O I said okay forget it. Fantastic! My wife and I found this gem hiding in the back of a through alley while exploring Port Jeff. I'm so glad we found this restaurant. The outdoor seating is gorgeous and maintains a safe distance. The staff were attentive and friendly. How was the food? I didn't have a bad thing served to me. Even the complimentary bread hit the spot. It was warm. Crunch around the crust and soft in the center. My sangria and coconut martini disappeared almost as quickly as my Cheeseburger. My wife an I stopped by Ruvo for lunch and we left with mixed reviews. We both agreed the service was excellent, and the hot antipasto was as well. She had the scallops and risotto, and I ordered a well done Ruvo bacon burger. My burger was burnt on the outside and completely rare inside. The server was passing by and immediately took it away. I didn't even have to say a word. That's how bad it looked. The server brought out another one, but it took too long and my wife already finished her lunch. They did take it off the bill which I appreciated. Not sure how you can cook scallops and risotto to perfection and mess up so badly on a simple burger. We are going back to give them another chance, because our server made every attempt to correct the situation, and we enjoyed everything else. read more

My husband and I decided to try Ruvo out for our wedding anniversary tonight. We are so happy we decided to spend it here! The outside seating was set up nicely, appropriately social distanced with a nice ambiance. The bread served before dinner was warm and delicious with a plate of olive oil for dipping. We ordered from the prix fixe menu which is an excellent deal. We started with rice ball appetizers which were amazing. For our entree we got the braised short ribs pictured here. So so delicious! We ended with cappuccino hazelnut gelato. Best meal I've had in a long time. We will be returning. Our waiter Danny was extremely accommodating and friendly. Service was quick. I love to enjoy good food When there is a balance of flavors that compliment each other. This cute little restaurant was recommended to me by a waiter who used to work here. I went with my typical doubt with a friend. We were seated, by a hostess that stood the wine menus on the table which fell and nocked over a glass. Not a good start, but then we were greeted by our waiter who said he had been there about two years. He took great care of us, with lots of good information for our dining experience. My friend ordered the flounder oreganatto, and I ordered three different burgers because I wanted to try all three. My first bite of the evening was a piece of fish offered to me for a taste from my friend. This flounder was soft, tender and flavorful. It practically melted away in my mouth. It was neither raw, nor overcooked. I was very happy and abundantly impressed. But how would my meal taste?.... Next was a bite of my balsamic field greens salad. I enjoyed this salad so much, I didn't want to stop eating it! Smoothe and creamy balsamic with soft leafy greens. Not too sweet and not too savory. Simply wonderful. Then I tried the burgers. All three were real ground beef charcoal grillEd which my tastebuds absolutely adored. The first burger was a mouthful of deep cheddar and pecan smoked bacon. Delicious! Next I tried a bite of the mushroom burger. Again, delicious! Third was the balsamic seared onion and Gorgonzola cheese burger. Tripple play! All three were outstanding!! Chose a local spot after a busy day to celebrate with our son a huge accomplishment and wish him well heading back to campus. We had so many different staffers serve our table throughout the dinner it was a bit disconcerting...2 different young ladies introduced themselves as our waitress and probably 4 others served our table throughout the meal as well. Not sure if that is the norm or just how this particular Saturday night shook out. There was a solo singer with a guitar that I enjoyed, the others at the table found it a bit overpowering. The food we were happy with as well as the wine selection. One of the ladies noticed the card we had given our son on the table and sent a gentlemen out with a candle on his dessert and wished him a happy birthday so we totally appreciated the thoughtful gesture and got a chuckle since it wasn't a birthday we were celebrating. We had my son and daughter in law to be's rehearsal dinner there. From speaking with Taylor to book and plan to the service that night, it was all top notch! Our server,Lori, took such good care of us, especially my mom who has several food sensitivities. Her caring throughout making sure everything ran perfectly was extremely appreciated. My parents have been to Ruvo a few times before, inviting me and fiance to join them. We avoided going to Ruvo with them in the past due to the distance from our apartment as well as the limited menu. Unfortunately, due to many dietary restrictions (no tomatoes, no onions, no garlic, no spiciness, avoiding leafy greens), I cannot eat most of Ruvo's appetizers and entrees. The amount of effort to change the apps or entrees for my needs would be high and it is just easier to go somewhere else. However, for New Years Day, my parents offered to treat us at Ruvo and see what they could do to accommodate my dietary needs. We are glad that we went as Ruvo did a great job. I honestly can say I dreaded this, as once again the current menu featured tomato sauce, onions and/or garlic in everything, and leafy green sides. However, the staff and management ended up doing a fantastic job helping me out. I was impressed at their ability to cater to my restrictions, as complex as they were. I got the prix fixe meal with a mozz appetizer that they made without the grilled onions for me. I really enjoyed the fresh mozz and its paired roasted pepper, the basil sauce and the balsamic sauce. My entree was the seared salmon which normally had escarole on the side along with butternut squash risotto. They accommodated my change from escarole to root vegetables and originally did not bring out the risotto due to a concern for onions. When I had them bring out the risotto anyway so we could at least try it, I did not see or taste onions and it was delicious. The salmon was crispy on the outside and tender inside and tasted great. The root vegetables were perfect and I enjoyed the variety they gave me. The veggies also went very well with the salmon. My family all enjoyed their dinners. My father inhaled his eggplant rollitini. My fiance loved his rice ball appetizer and his shortrib entree, which was so tender it needed no knife. My mom and brother also enjoyed their meals. For dessert, my fiance got the prix fixe cheesecake which he said was yummy and a good way to end the meal. My mother and I each got panna cottas, which we all enjoyed wobbling around before eating! All in all, it was a delicious first meal of the new year. I took off one star as my Riesling tasted off and it took an unusual amount of time to have our orders taken and for the food to be brought out. Delicious Food, Beautiful Location, Mediocre Service The Price Fixed Menu was a huge draw for me because I wanted to try a variety of dishes. For $34 the portion sizes of the apps/entrees/desserts were probably the best I've ever ordered from a price fixe. Located in the middle of town in Port Jefferson, it's such a great place to come & afterwards take a nice walk down to the water or watch the sunset. In the winter months parking is free! Parking in the summer could be tough because of the crowds so my suggestion is try this place out in colder months. Prices are great for the Price Fixed Menu. The regular menu items are higher priced. I ordered off both menus because I wanted to try a variety of dishes. Making my Reservation on Opentable was quick & easy, I was seated immediately when I arrived. The Service is why I couldn't give this restaurant a perfect 5 star rating. It was mediocre in my opinion. There were ample times I went without a water refill for minutes & ticket times on the food were abnormally lengthy, especially since the restaurant was 1 quarter full at best. My waitress was friendly but I also felt rushed. My dessert had just been brought to the table and not even 3 minutes later the check was delivered. The Food was absolutely delicious! Each and every dish I ordered impressed me. I will be reviewing what I ordered- off of the Price Fixe, Regular Menu & Specials Menu: Complimentary Fresh Bread with Oil & Olives, was offered seconds which was great. -Fried Calamari (Price Fixe App): Perfectly cooked, the portion isn't huge but great for sharing between 2 people. The spicy marinara & garlic aioli sauces were so tasty. 5 out of 5 stars -Spinach & Artichoke Flatbread (Price Fixe App): Thought it was good however it certainly wasn't spectacular. There were a few nice chunks of artichoke and the cheese was melted nicely. This would be great for sharing between 1-3 people. 3.5 out of 5 stars -Clams Oreganata (Appetizer Special): The Little Neck Clams were exceptional. The broth, tomatoes & sausage cooked in the broth were perfect for dipping bread, I almost wanted to drink it all. Good for sharing between 2 people. 5 out of 5 stars -Burrata for 2 (Appetizer): Definitely for 2, the portion was ok but this is a pricey app. I thought it was savory and full of flavor but for the $ I would skip it next time. Loved the pine nuts & bruschetta. Side note- this was very messy to eat. 4 out of 5 stars -Shell Steak (Price Fixe Dinner + $6): Yes I had to pay a little extra but it was so worth it! My steak was cooked to a beautiful medium rare. The Gorgonzola cheese on top brought out the flavors of the meat & the red wine Demi glacé really heightened the dish. The garlic mashed potatoes were savory and mixed really well with the steak. I would absolutely order this again! Great portion size. 5 out of 5 stars -Strawberry Banana Shortcake: So this might be my favorite part of my whole meal and I'm usually not a dessert girl. The fresh strawberries & bananas heavenly and the cake soaked up all of those fruit juices. The cream on top & the strawberry sauce drizzled over top were the elements I enjoyed the most.
