My husband got his tux & the tuxes for his groomsmen here, and we cannot recommend it enough. I came to the first visit where we talked about colors and design, and he went again with his groomsmen for a fitting, and both experiences were great. My husband wanted a white tux, and when I googled "white tux", all the ugliest white tuxes in the world came up first. I was supportive of course, but when he sent me a photo of himself at the fiting in an INCREDIBLE white tux, white accents that complemented his overall look, I was over the moon. I still cannot get over how good he looked, and multiple friends/family also said this to us directly at the wedding. The fits were also perfect. Two of his groomsmen who usually just wear T-shirts were MARVELLING at "how good it feels when your clothes actually fit well" and they all looked incredible. It was honestly heartwarming. He could still try to get it for me but it was cutting it close to my event so I had to look elsewhere. I needed a suit for a friend's wedding in Santa Monica. I was looking for something traditional but also with a little twist and flare. I used to use another place but they shut down a few years ago so I gave Ryders a shot as they are super local to me and I am SO glad I did. As soon as I told them what I was looking for and why I needed it they measured me up and presented me with a number of options in a number of styles. I went with a blue three-piece that was mix between a suit and tux. I'm not a suit guy, I rarely wear them outside of weddings or awards season, but they made me look pretty good - even the other customers in the shop at the time commented on how good it looked. At the wedding I got so many compliments, my wife loved it, I felt confident and comfortable, and like I had absolutely got my money's worth. Not pushy at all but so, so helpful and knowledgable with informed opinions and suggestions, the team at Ryders are pure gold. Everything was great when I get there on Friday to rent the suit - They took measurements and note of all details including some accessories to order. Everything was planned for pick-up on Wednesday morning at 10:00am. I arrived on Wednesday at 3:00pm to realize that, not only no alteration was done but the accessories weren't even ordered. I don't understand the reviews: The place is a mess, there is stuff everywhere on the counter and on the floor ! Not surprising they couldn't find my order at the first place. -"The lady on Friday forgot to place the order and give the tailor instructions ! (She only works on Friday) " told me the manager. And it is supposed to be the client's problem !? The notes on my order were incomplete, other were missing so they couldn't complete it. But nobody was able to even pick-up the phone to tell me ! Awesome! The ladies who run the shop are so sweet and they know their style! I was a last minute customer with less than 24 hours until my event. Don't judge me! The ladies had me measured and my suit altered by the next morning. They even lent me an extra tie at no additional charge when I misplaced my tie before dressing. LOL, I'm serious, don't judge me! Best of all they didn't bat an eye when I told them I wanted my pants altered for wear with heels! I didn't have time to try my tux on before taking it but it fit just fine! The only snag I had was parking. Don't park in the lot next to the minimart on Cloverdale. The minimart owner is none too pleased if he has to open the gate to let you out! read more

My first experience of using Ryders Tuxedo shop was a very rushed scenario. I'd had a last minute invite to a swanky Oscar party and I needed to walk out of the door with a Tux that day. Augusto seemed very fazed by my needs, but he stepped up to the start line with a pretty much an off the peg rental which worked perfectly. Since then I've used the shop three times. One of those rentals was for my wedding. I wanted something more traditional to my British desire to have a frock coat. The closest Augusto had was a zoot suit jacket. Once again. Augusto stepped up and tailored the lapels to be much more stream lined and of a classic UK cut. The service here is top notch, but do Augusto a favor and try and not do what I did the first time I rented as fine things often take longer than 10 minutes. read more

The proprietors of Ryders, Augusto and Gilda, not only know their business, but are delightful people who truly care about their customers. The minute I walked in to get my dad fitted for his tux, Augusto had already sized us both up. He was kind and friendly, and casually chatted with us, even though he was extremely busy at the time (my own fault for stopping by the shop during prom season!). Though there were periodic interruptions from the steady flow of people coming in to pick up their prom duds, Augusto gave us all his attention and respect. I had to rent three tuxes for the wedding, but I had to rent my tux for an additional day two weeks earlier for engagement pictures, and Augusto and Gilda made it happen without batting an eye. When I returned the tuxes after my event, they asked to see some pictures, and seemed genuinely pleased to see how happy my fiancée/wife and I looked together. Either I came in on the wrong day or somebody at this place is paying out serious cash for positive reviews. I'll make it brief. I waited for at least 10 minutes while two customers all excited about an upcoming wedded chatted with THREE female staff members about, oh, if they'd made the right choices for their rentals, what day they could bring back their rentals (they asked this at least four times) or should they bring them back earlier, what accessories they could have chosen differently ... I suppose this stuff sounded vital to them but, to me, another waiting customer, none of it was crucial or anything. It might have been okay if just one of the female staff people acknowledged my presence by simply saying hello (not one did) or saying something simple like, "We'll be right with you." Didn't happen. Two assholes thinking they were the most important people in the world is one thing. Three staff people agreeing with them, is a whole 'nother thing. They can take their cheap cufflinks, stickpins, worn-out, gaudy merchandise and shove it. I went straight to another rental shop where the tuxes didn't look left over from the 90s and where the sales people were really nice, kind, smart and helpful.
