Not sure if this is typical but I bought a load of the pepper and cheddar loaves at Daydream and the loaf had poppy seeds which we are allergic to. This was not the case with the prior loaves which were fine and did not contain poppy seeds. The quality has been hit or miss. Some loaves have risen well and other are flat and lifeless. No consistency in their product and that is a huge reason I'll look for alternatives whenever possible read more

I stopped by Saturday morning. I arrived 5 min before Rye Goods opened at 8. I got inside ~8:25 with ~10 groups in front of me. I ordered a handful of pastries for me and several friends. All of us enjoyed all of the items. The chocolate filled croissant was my personal favorite. The morning bun was solid. Personally, I didn't care for the chocolate chip cookie much since it's a fairly hard one. But that's personal preference. I prefer soft ones but know others prefer hard ones. read more

The wait times are well-documented. They definitely lean towards the well-done side of baking times, which can be seen in the photos on their website. I bought the donut, country sourdough bread, morning bun and chocolate-coffee croissant. The morning bun and croissant didn't blow my skirt up but the donut was very good and the bread just right for a winter meal accompaniment. Probably not great for a sandwich though. I appreciate their philosophy, creativity and quality but the approach is very specific (and rye-based). I'll return once in a while though for something out of the ordinary. read more

The Morning Bun was outstanding and their Vegan/Gf loaf of Sourdough bread was also delicious!

They cover their bread with brown paper bags and when you're dealing with the public you want to be able to see the whole bread even though plastic isn't good for your health it's not on there that bad if you put plastic around the bread I don't think it would affect your health that bad what's worse is eating burnt bread and paying a higher cost for your bread and traveling time when your breads always burn and I have save the crust and had to return it quite a few times and I had to get public transportation so I went out of my way to find something that's healthy for my pre-diabetes and also my blood sugar got really high from eating their sourdough bread they really should say that eat the ingredients and it's really not healthy because real sourdough bread doesn't spike my blood sugar I usually go to F as in Frank cares in KN is the Nancy bread in San Juan I think they're the only ones that make real sourdough bread and they'll even give you a free starter but it's it's pretty good bread over there and my blood sugar doesn't spike but this place made my A-1 C almost turned into a pre-diabetes again and I'm pretty stable with my blood sugar and I eat healthy and stuff so I don't trust this place and they really need to switch their bags the lady when I talk to her the owner she blocked me just from telling her about the bread being burnt on Instagram it was very weird so be careful making comments she gets offended and very defensive read more

Love that we have such a bakery in OC, wide variety of baked goods and organic! However, it may be due to this monopoly that prices are on the high end. I love their butter croissants which were $4 6 months ago and felt that $5 was still a reasonable amount when they increased it a few months back but now it has increased to $6. 50% price increase in 6 months. RYE! I've had Rye for over a year now. They use to deliver to my coffee shop in north OC. I cannot say enough about the quality of their bread and pastries. I've pretty much tried everything my favorites sourdough, porridge, English muffin! Seasonal cinnamon roll I cannot wait till they come back again. I have yet to have some thing here that I do not like! The staff is incredibly kind and patient. We typically go there with an army of children and they are so welcoming and happy to help us with our deliciously organic rye goods! My friend introduced me to this place and her sweet daughter has a gluten allergy. The look on her face when she saw the pastry display is priceless! She can indulge in all things Rye Goods and not have any kind of reaction at all. It's a little pricey but definitely worth it!! The quality of quality of the goodies alone are well worth the drive from the inland empire. We literally have made a trip every other week (a least) since the very first time we sunk our teeth into their famous Morning Bun. Like I said before there's not one item that I've tried that I did not like. If you get there and you're overwhelmed and don't know what to order I recommend the Sweet & Salty. It's the best of both worlds. Always order 2 Pesto Twists... you'll kick yourself later for not getting extra. We always like to get at least ONE seasonal item... this month it was a peach danish. TO. DIE. FOR. It was sprinkled with fresh oregano which paired so well with the peaches! Pastry brilliance here people. There's something for everyone here. Don't forget to check the fridge. They have gorgeous cheese boxes and on occasion you can score a beautiful sandwich. The first one I had was what sold me on this place. Thick pieces of Rye sourdough with a pesto spread, steak tomatoes and basil. That's all and months later I can't stop thinking about it. Grab dough to go and you might as well stock up on country and cheddar jalapeño loaves. They have an extra health multigrain loaf among many many other beautiful things. Grab a Bavarian cream stuff doughnut or a pop tart on your way out! You'll be doing a happy dance! I don't have any photos of any of this because it soon as we leave the store our family chows down. We don't even make it to the car and we have no shame in our game. You'll be smiling and sharing nods of agreement with the other patrons. Everyone loves this place. So happy to have found this incredible bakery. We have been coming here regularly since we discovered it a couple of months ago. The manager and the staff are so kind, welcoming, and helpful. They truly make you feel like family. The staff always greet us with warmth, and tell us something about some of their featured baked goods, which is always helpful, since they always have new stuff. While everything I have had so far has been fantastic, a few things that are particularly noteworthy: thumbprint cookie with various jams, pop tarts, banana bread, oatmeal, chocolate chip, and raisin cookies, and banana bread. Not only are the baked goods unbelievably delicious, it tastes healthy. I also started buying nut butters from there. Wow this bakery seems legit - walked by on a whim and I was impressed by how knowledgeable the staff seemed about their products and business. We walked out with a loaf of Danish rye - almost a rugbrod-esque brick of deliciousness - and after trying a bit I am even more excited by this new bakery. Best bakery I've been to in Orange County! We've been ordering from rye goods weekly for a while (we always make sure we have an extra loaf in the freezer because their bread is so so good).
