Great rooftop on the Lake side and on street side. Both are comfortable but one has a better view. They had a wait but got lucky and were able to get bar seats when a couple left. Bartender was pretty attentive despite being busy. I had a couple beers and my wife had a couple glasses of wine which were decent pours. We shared the tuna tartare app and the shrimp basket. The tuna was pretty solid for a small town tourist area. It was marinated, had the typical slaw and wontons but a tasty wasabi aioli. The chunks were a little larger than I prefer but still good quality. The shrimp were nicely crisp but not overcooked. We used the wasabi aioli to dip them in as well as some cocktail sauce. Our last dinner in Michigan after a fun couple of days. Ryebelles was okay, nothing over the top, but satisfying nonetheless. The atmosphere inside was probably the most upscale we'd come across during our trip. There is also a rooftop section of tables that gets pretty busy, although at the time we were there (it's been a few months), the rooftop was closed. For food, we had the Firecracker shrimp appetizer. It was very good and flavorful, although some of the shrimp was lukewarm. I ended up getting the Mediterranean pasta with pomodoro sauce and it was good. A proper pomodoro which was nice! Hubby got the cowboy ribeye and he said it was cooked perfectly, which is always a crapshoot at restaurants. Standard green beans and shoestring fries rounded out the meal; basic but still okay. Dessert was chocolate cake and it was stinkin' good! Overall, restaurant isn't quite as fancy as expected, but we still enjoyed our food and experience there just fine. We'd go back and try more things if the opportunity every comes our way again. read more

Had lunch here yesterday with the hubby. I had a steak sandwich and fries. The hubby had a burger and fries. Outdoor patio area is cool with a great view of lake Michigan and downtown St. Joe. The food, drinks and service are good. The outside menu varies from the inside menu. The outdoor area is more of a casual bar/ grill vibe which is what I prefer. Inside is dark and needs some updating. The menu is old school but good for what it is. I have never been so disappointed! I never write reviews.. but worst experience of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please trust the poor reviews. I left in tears while my husband left feeling violated. I have two toddlers and they made us wait and hour and a half at 5pm. Which is fine if they had a crowd, but the restaurant was empty. We called early, but they don't take reservations... We sat there an hour and a half ... Only to have been given a table that had been sitting there empty all along. We were a little disappointed. But still willing to have a great night. We ordered$ $100.00 worth of drinks while waiting ..and then another $300.00 at dinner.. it was easy to say we were underwhelmed when our steaks came over cooked and cold. When the manger came out he was shaky and puffing his chest ...like he wanted to fight for us saying anything. He said "what do you want us to do about it?" All pissed off.. his eyes were bulging and his dilated pupils made us think he was on something. It made us feel scared considering we were were with two tiny children. This place might have people working management positions that have other issues they have to deal with. All I can say is I read reviews for this place.....I thought people were overreacting or exaggerating how bad you can be treated....I am here to tell you this is not an exaggeration.... there are people here that act horribly towards there customers. The worst part is they are the managers... Dont be like me and go here thinking you will be treated nicely. I am so disappointed and disheartened that people treating their customers this way. Leaving a birthday dinner for my husband embarrassed and crying is not something I thought would ever happen to me. Wow, what a spectacular spot. I highly recommend the roof top seating to catch a sunset or hang out on a nice summer's day/evening. We walked in about 8:15pm on a Sunday (they close at 9pm). She said it would be about a 45-minute wait. I was concerned because they closed 45 minutes later. She assured me that if we are on the list we would be sat and not rushed out. All sounded good to me so we hung out at the bar until our seat was ready. It was ready probably only 15 minutes later and she was right, we still got to enjoy the evening and the sunset without feeling pushed out of there. We probably left close to 10 and we were not the last ones left, still plenty of people finishing up their meals. It was nice to feel like you were rushed out of a place. I also like to respect a place and not just stick around well after hours but it all just felt right. And OMG the food was spectacular. I ordered the Gluten Free Crusted Mediterranean pizza and ate half of it. Honestly, I was pretty hungry and could have eaten the whole thing but I kept my will power at the full front. It was so good that I did want to eat it all but I am looking forward to having it for lunch today too! This was worth the wait, especially during the busy summer season! You can put your name on the waitlist, and they call you when your reservation is 20 minutes to spare. This allows you to shop, sightsee in the downtown Saint Joseph area! Which is exactly what I did! I enjoyed sitting on the rooftop watching the sunset, while eating and the food was amazing! And plenty of it! You can go there and JUST eat appetizers because they give you so much food. The tables were set a little bit close together which meant that we were adjusting our seat when the waitress came by to deliver food to the surrounding tables. and I mention this because the chairs are outdoor patio furniture.. you know metal. So they are a little hard to move. And that's the only reason why they didn't get five stars. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening bring a sweater it's a little chilly on the roof after sunset! read more

We skipped the rooftop area and stayed inside where it was cooler. Cocktails were strong and refreshing. Probably the best mule I've had... The salmon cakes appetizer was off the charts delicious. So, so flavorful. My scallops entree was good (not great...a tiny bit rubbery, but still excellent flavor) and my partner said the whitefish was excellent. I'm from VA and found this restrauant on Yelp. The reviews lived up to the intreat. The drinks were perfect and the DoD was well prepared and nicely presented. So Ryebelles..... you have my attention for being a good restaurant in an awesome beach town...... The good: The roof top views at sunset are probably one of the best sights in the area! The ambiance is nice and relaxing but could use a lil more ummmppphhhh The food was actually pretty decent.. I had the Chilled Shrimp which was ok ... but could use a lil bit more spice to it... the cocktail sauce was awesome! had that Kick that cocktail sauce should have. The pizza was delicious ... only gripe I had was it wasnt crispy enough but overall a awesome pizza. The live entertainment was pretty good, not sure what her name was but she was a 19 year old soloist with a red guitar with awesome vocals. Servers were awesome and friendly and very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The Bad: (please dont be mad at me ... Huh? ...Sigh) *i know, I know - slurp on, cocktail snob* Food: Limited menu. I had the margarita pizza --The crust was good (nice and doughy) maybe made in a wood pizza oven? How did it ever become acceptable to talk about customers, in front of other customers? My wife and and I visited this place on 8/10/18 to check it out. There was a band playing and it was fairly busy, we fully expected to enjoy ourselves though a few employees that clearly didn't enjoy their jobs thwarted our plan. It began, as we arrived on the rooftop, in the front of the building. I asked the bartender (a thin blonde haired girl), if she has a drink menu and she grabbed a wine list and told me "here's the wine list, the beers are up there (pointing to the various beer offerings) and I don't know if there are any drink menus around here", as she (seemingly annoyed by my question) turned her back and walked away. After explaining the exchange at the bar to my wife, we decided it might be better to go to the restaurant bar, at the opposite end of the rooftop. This, as you may have guessed by the rating, did not improve our experience. The bartender took our drink order and got our drinks to us, quickly enough, yet two sips in, he informed us that they are our last drinks, due to it being last call (maybe posting actual hours could have simplified things). As we're discussing whether or not both drinks had a shit ton of lime and not much alcohol, and my Moscow Mule was served in a Clear Solo Cup (rather than a traditional copper mug), seemed kosher for a decent bar, another bartender approaches him, just feet away from us and said "they wanted another drink, so this is the last one, I told them it was last call, man they just keep coming", to which the first bartender replied "man, I get it, don't worry, this is the last week of this". I took this to mean that their busy season is coming to an end, but nevertheless, we will never visit this disgruntled group again. read more

Great meal tonight - they squeezed our party of nine in which was nice. Loved the fact that they had five fish dishes on the menu. Our waitress Alexandrea was nice and made great suggestions. She recommended the Lake Superior Whitefish which three of us had - I asked for the sauce on the side. All of us enjoyed it - the Parmesan crust was delicious and not too heavy. Another in our group had salmon (loved it), another had the Grouper (pan fried, not blackened), two had the Tequila Lime chicken (which they both loved) and the last had the Belle's Chicken (just good). Green beans, the rolls and the house salads were all excellent. The only thing negative thing we have to say was that we weren't offered coffee or dessert at the end of the meal. My guess was they were ready for us to leave - we were the last there at 10pm on a Tuesday. Would go back for sure though, just maybe a little earlier. read more

We visited Rye Belle on the 27th of Sept. We arrived at 3:30 PM and were told the that the lunch menu was the only menu that we could order from. The lunch menu was limited and not what we were expecting so we waited for 4:30 to roll around with a drink. The drinks were very good. We started out with the buffalo shrimp which was okay. The salads were fresh and tasty with the Balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I ordered the fresh lake perch w/bake potato and my wife ordered the scallops w/mash potatoes and fresh grilled vegetables. The fresh perch was delicious and the scallops were very good and sautéed to perfection. The potatoes were very good and the vegetables had just the right amount of herbs and spices. They did not have prime rib which was my first choice but once I saw the fresh perch I was sold. We have been in the Raleigh area now for 2 years and it is almost impossible to get fresh lake perch in any seafood restaurant. The service was great and we dined on the rooftop with a view of the lake. When we lived there we never had a chance to to sit on the rooftop unless we wanted to wait 2 hours. The dinner prices were a little pricey for a restaurant in the St. Joseph area. But the prices are up for the summer months during the tourist season. I was told they will have a new menu for the fall and winter months. We will always visit Rye Belle when we are in the area. read more

We went to RyeBelles and sat at the rooftop bar. We order the firecracker shrimp and it was really good. The menu doesn't have a lot of variety but the food is descent. It's was nice to sit outside and enjoy the view of the lake. I wish they had live music on Saturday nights like some of the other restaurants nearby, but overall I'd highly recommend drinking cocktails and eating here. read more
