Godaiko was tasty! We sat at the bar as it was a busy Friday evening. Service wasn't super fast but they were understandably busy. I loved my edamame with garlic and my entree of the tuna fusion roll. The crispy tempura shell was a fun addition. My husband wasn't super impressed with his ramen. Overall I would definitely return but mostly for the sushi roll.

6 of us got dinner at Godaiko this past Saturday. Fortunately, we were seated immediately even without a reservation since we arrived early. The food came out in waves, so it never felt too overwhelming. BANG BANG SHRIMP - 18 This was probably my favorite of all the ones we ordered today. It came with lots of shrimp (with the perfect tempura batter) that sat on top of a bed of cabbage and onions, drizzled with a sweet and spicy sauce. I thought the sauce was a bit too sweet, but other than that, it was great. Crunchy and the food was hot. It was enough for all of us to enjoy 3-4 shrimps each. GROUND SPICY KOBE BEEF FRIED RICE - 19.95 This was a very flavorful fried rice with a bit of a kick. Personally, I didn't love that the meat was ground and would prefer thinly shredded beef, but one of my friends raved about the fried rice. I still enjoyed it, even though it was a bit too greasy for me. Has a strong "wok" heat in every bite. GODAIKO YAKISOBA - 18 The presentation of the yakisoba was nice, they had chopsticks "hovering" mid-air with mounds of yakisoba wrapped around it. The yakisoba was tasty, but it didn't wow me. I thought it was a bit too salty. The same friend think this is the best yakisoba he can find in the area, and he knows this stuff. GODAIKO BENTO - 34 This came with a lot of food: grilled salmon terriyaki, inside-out California roll, hibachi beef, three thick pieces each of salmon, tuna, and yellowtail sashimi, and a variety of tempura. The salmon was really dry, to the point of overcooked, and someone thought it was chicken. Not great. The beef was eh, also overcooked. I really enjoyed the yellowtail sashimi and ate two of them, and my friends enjoyed the salmon and tuna sashimi. I didn't eat the tempura or California roll, so I can't comment on that. CHARCOAL GRILLED TENDER UNAGI EEL - 28 I was pretty full by this point, so I only ate half of a marinated egg which was fine. The eel looked really good, but also a bit too saucy, so I didn't end up eating any. Another friend thought the grilled eel was the best entree of the night. Guess I missed out. The one great thing about Godaiko is that the portion size is big, the 6 of us paid $25/person after tax and tip, and left with plenty of food to enjoy later on. However, the quality for most things was just OK to me, but the value is there.

I'm now working 3 jobs just to make ends meet. Splurged and spent my last money on Japanese via (a very fast) Uber Eats. I ordered a dish called Spicy Kobe Beef with rice + the Spider Roll. The beef dish is called spicy but they made it so hot, it's completely inedible.. even drowned it in the yum yum/white sauce & still no bueno. (And I LOVE spicy food!!!) The spider roll was burnt in the middle and also completely inedible. I want to love it but now... I'm just hungry and chugging water. UGH!!!!

WOW. I didn't know there was a secret ramen spot right under my nose! The black tonkatsu ramen was surprisingly delicious. The broth was the perfect amount of rich and savory. The sushi roll was also very filling and fresh. There is plenty of seating, and the waiters check in on you frequently. The decor is nice and they had nice music playing too. We came on a Sunday for lunch so it wasn't busy, but I can see this space being full for dinner!

Ordered Godaiko for takeout, order was ready on time and correct. Note that their spicy mayo is lumpy and not consistent with a typical spicy mayo. The sushi was ok however the rolls lacked much substance. I did not like the spicy mayo on top of the spicy California, and it was placed on top like two clumps as opposed to drizzled on each piece. Unfortunately would not return.

The salmon tasted pretty good but there was too much rice in the rolls. The Superbowl Ramen portion was HUGE but the broth was too mushroomy. Besides the taste though, this place is a great deal cost-wise. Their sushi rolls are BOGO, so I only paid $10 for 2 salmon roll. The Superbowl Ramen portion is enough for 2 people (unless you're REALLY hungry lol) for $20. The space is also well-designed and clean, and the staff are friendly. I think it's a good place to visit if you're really hungry, not particular about the taste, and wanna get your money's worth for their portions.

Wow. This place has it all…read more Sister and I went on a Friday night- quick service, quick food, AND the ladies who served us were so sweet, attentive, and absolutely the best. The inside is so cute and the plates are so pretty too! Not only are the physical dishes cool, but the presentation of the sushi was too! I got 2 orders of the simple tuna, and one New York. My sister got an order of the California rolls and 2 shrimp tempura orders. Presentation was fantastic, and the sushi was divine. The salmon was so tender and almost buttery in consistency, and the veggies inside the rolls are so fresh and crisp. I always find sushi so refreshing and it hit the spot. I'd also like to mention how fantastic they are about dietary restrictions. Tons of vegan/vegetarian options PLUS GLUTEN FREE SOY SAUCE, APPS, AND A MENU. For the celiacs out there: I didn't get glutened! They took it seriously and I had no issues! If you're not sure where to go, go to Kanbu. The entire meal was around $65, and we had a lot of sushi plus a massive pot of tea. Sushi can be so expensive and I find this place to have great prices, especially for the size and quality of sushi! If you want to support authentic, local places in Ann Arbor, go to kanbu! My only regret is that I didn't take pictures.

The quality of the food is still amazing and worth a visit, but there were some items I wish stayed on the menu. For example, the spicy salmon crispy rice is no longer available and only available in the tuna form. The portions are also smaller, now coming in three small bites rather than the two big bites from before. The gochujang rigatoni and kimchi paella are also unavailable. Some new dishes I tried and loved were the short rib and the grilled octopus. The octopus was incredibly tender and I couldn't stop eating it! It also comes with delicious potatoes. The short rib was a larger portion and also tasted delicious. The rest of my table ordered the miso cod. The miso cod was delicious, but the portion was quite small and arguably not worth its price compared to the short rib. Cocktails that I recommend are The Gatsby and The Promised Neverland if you like sweeter drinks! For the service, we felt a bit rushed as we were dining. Normally the drinks come out followed by the appetizers, but our appetizers came first and the drinks came with our mains. I think there was a missed opportunity to sip on our drinks and chat with our party as we enjoyed the restaurant's ambience. Otherwise, the food came quickly and was well served.

It was restaurant weekend in downtown Ann Arbor and we didn't have a reservation, so we obliged, although the space was pretty empty. Once we got to the bar, the young waitress slammed menus down in front of us and acted extremely annoyed by our presence. After bothering us every minute for the next 5 minutes to order, me and my friend put in our orders in haste. We then waited for 30 minutes for our meals to arrive. I got the "Amazing Shrimp" sushi roll and my friend got the "Grilled Angus Short Rib". As noted on the menu it comes with Mashed Potatoes, Shishito Peppers, and Garlic Chives. Per my friend's request, the order did not come with the Shishito Peppers or Garlic Chives, but it also didn't have the potatoes. After asking for the potatoes, our server went back and we could hear her yelling at the kitchen staff. Minutes later she came out with a bowl of 3 potatoes, not mashed and not hot. My roll was great and I'd definitely order again if I come back, but I'm honestly not too inclined to after this experience. Lastly, the restaurant itself was freezing. It was a cold day but it was way colder inside than it should've been. We ended up keeping our coats on for most of dinner. I really do want to like it here because the vibe seemed very modern and clean, however the service, food, and level of professionalism fell short of my expectations.

I haven't done the full omakase experience but I have had sushi multiple times and can say it's great and the ambiance is fantastic but it has its faults. The sushi deluxe which I ordered tonight was filled with redundant cheap cuts of fish. The salmon was delicious but most of it was mid white fish. It came with a salad which I really enjoyed and was packaged nicely. The workers are lovely and try hard but need to be educated more. To be clear I am blaming this on the owner/manager. They should do a crash course on sushi for everyone that works there. Regardless I would happily go back, it's really excellent sushi and the rice is perfect.

No worries. It's clean and welcoming. We sat, my dad choosing a bench side table with a cushion. I ordered a couple appetizers from the order pad at the table while we waited for our third person. I even visited twice before writing this review because I wanted to be fair. Both times, I ordered the bento box (tried the chicken, salmon, and beef). The sushi (California rolls), however, was the highlight : fresh, generous, and delicious! I really appreciated that part. For improvement, Some small details could make a big difference. For example, they didn't have yum yum sauce, and the salad portion was quite small and it is just cucumber. The service could also be more attentive ( though the owner personally checks on guests, which shows her genuine care and hospitality.) The restaurant is clean and cozy, with a nice atmosphere. I love that they use a digital menu, but a little more explanation of the dishes would help guests choose more confidently. Overall, with a lot of work and effort, this place has good potential and a lot of heart behind it for a small business. With a bit more focus on enhanced quality , flavor and and balance, I believe it could easily work thier ways to become a visited spots in town.
