I just moved here and had to get an inspection. My car failed because I needed new brakes. I called around and S2 gave me the best price as the inspection place was a few hundred higher. Pat, who provides excellent customer service, told me he would take the car to get re-inspected. It passed. Fast forward two weeks later and the brake light comes on. I cannot say enough about how good my experience here was. I called in the morning about an engine loss of power problem that was intermittent, but making me cautious about a long drive coming up. I expected to have to leave the car and even reserved a rental to use during that time. They got me in right away, had it diagnosed in 20 minutes and fixed faster than they promised. Been there only once, for 40k service, alignment and carbon cleaning for my GTI. Pat was very transparent with regards to what needed to be done to the car and what could wait, and as for the services that were performed, S2 was significantly cheaper that 4 other places I called (except 1 that was too far, which had similar prices). 1st time customer and all I can say S2 Dynamics did a amazing job of fixing a complicated work my 2011 128i that had leaking radiator fluid from the cylinder head hose due to a broken bolt. I was quite impressed by how their team managed to take out the small broken bolt without any drilling that might of ran into complications or risks of damaging the engine threads. The manager Pat, is knowledgeable and a true gentleman. He is upright and honest in telling you what the repair is involved, the cost and how long it may take. The cost was very reasonable and in addition to the repair, you get a 24 month or 24000 mile warranty on your repair. He also suggest to use only OEM replacement parts which is the correct way of repairing performance cars. During my car repair waiting period, I spoke to several of his returning customers and they all seemed to concur that they are happy long time customers. To conclude: job well done and hats off to S2 Dynamics for running a well trained and professional team ! I was on a trip in our 3-series wagon and had a strange problem that was pretty concerning (after driving at speed on highway, idle would be rough and car would die sometimes). I found this shop on yelp and just appeared on a monday morning at 8am (no appointment). They were FANTASTIC! First off, they worked me in without an appointment. Second, the mechanic clearly explained what was going on. And best of all - I was back on the road in a couple of hours and the car runs great. I saw all the great reviews about this place so I decided to bring my new blessing to S2 for an inspection. I arrived as scheduled for the inspection to a clean waiting area, walked into the office area and a gentleman I assumed was the owner was on the phone (he never introduced himself the whole time I was there so I think that was him). I stood for a couple minutes until he said, "Here fill this out." I completed the intake form and stood a little bit more. He finally took my keys and I showed one of the other gentleman my vehicle. I waited for about 20 minutes in the waiting room, the gentleman who was on the phone came out and informed me of a situation concerning the weather and my appointment. I wasn't very pleased, and suggested in the future letting customers know of situations prior to their scheduled appointment or as soon as they walk in, as we all know time is valuable. I waited a little over 3 hours from my appointment time for the inspection to be finished. I wanted to give them a higher rating but the wait/issues in the beginning took away from that. read more

I own a 2004 Jetta and I have brought it to S2 dynamics ever since my first visit. There are many shops in Montgomery County but none better than S2. I had a ticking noise coming from the engine of my car and I took it to two shops before I brought it here. The shops I took it to before weren't able to identify the problem. Pat and his team found that my timing belt was loose and it needed to be fixed before it damaged my engine. When you take your car to S2, they explain to you what's wrong with your car. They don't just hand you a list of things that need to be fixed. It is this level of professionalism and quality of work that really differentiate S2 from any other shop. In addition to excellent service, S2 Dynamics backs their work. This shows that they take pride in their work and are there for their customers. Their prices are much more reasonable than other places, they are easy to talk to, and do great, honest work. I went to them as a referral from my friend since my mechanic in VA was too far away.S2 Dynamics does great work, they are very thorough. Unfortunately they are very expensive. I had a battery changed and the battery was $117. I had a small part changed and the cost for that was sensible but I also experienced a leak in my coolant reservoir and have always carried a bottle of coolant in my trunk. The coolant for my car is $30 a bottle. Instead of asking me if I had coolant, he took the liberty to replace the coolant without asking and ended up charging me $80 to replace the coolant. I did not ask them to fill the coolant reservoir so this was upsetting. If I had asked I would have told him that the bottle was in the trunk. I would go back but I would not trust that Pat would look out for me as he has done with my friend. read more

Took the car (BMW E90) to Pat after reading about this place on a BMW forum for some rear brake work. Dealer quoted approx $800 for rotors and pads to be replaced. Pat took the time to explain the work that would be performed - Zimmerman rotors with BMW factory pads). I could have gone with the BMW original rotors, but I didn't like them in the first place because they have tendency to rust. Zimmerman ones were coated, so the choice was even easier. Final price ended up being just less than $400. Immediately after the work, Pat took time to explain what was done and that I may get some squeals while the coating comes off of the friction area. The minor squeals disappeared after few stops. It's been three months since the replacement and very glad that I took the car to S2 for service. Will return for other services. I used to go to BMW Rockville or Silver Spring before, but no more! read more

I have an AUDI TT 2000 that I love with 110K miles on it. I also had a MINI Cooper until Labor Day weekend when someone totaled it for me. I spent the next few weeks making major decisions about what to do next since you only get 30 days max with the rental. After reading many of the Yelp reviews prior to the MINI being totaled, I knew I had to do something and quickly. Suffice to say I decided to invest some money back into the TT after letting Pat evaluate the current condition of the TT and what investments that I should make for safety, longevity and to avoid LE (law enforcement) events. I had neglected the car some because I was afraid that I would be scalped by the local dealer and others potentially. I did not want to deal with the headache. I am thrilled with the results. The car hums as it should and I realize how much I missed driving it all the time. I invested in 4 tires, headlights, oil change, an IC (INSTRUMENT CLUSTER), wipers and a few other items. The cost was very reasonable and performed in a reasonable period of time. I am elated that the Yelp reviews were accurate and the S2 staff are as pleasant as they can be. Cara is in the front office and she is a gem. The waiting room is perfect. S2 is located close to local transportation if you need it but even the Lyft driver and his entire family are serviced there. Pat has made other recommendations that I have pursued, i.e. leather dyeing. S2 Dynamics is a great find and Pat knows his business, the cars and his customers. Finding them this year turned a bad situation into something that was not as painful as it might have been otherwise. read more
