I don't go out to Blacklick often. Or at least, I PREVIOUSLY DID NOT go to Blacklick often, because Sababa is so dope that I now get out there every chance I get. When you walk in, if the owner's there, he asks if you've been in before. If you haven't, he feeds you with samples--meat or falafel, sauces, rice, so many tasty things. And everything is tasty. Everything. I don't even like falafel but I LOVE his falafel. (That sounds vaguely dirty but I'm rolling with it.) It's full of real chickpeas and moist and herbaceous and almost creamy in a great way. I also love every meat option. Gyro meat is great. Chicken is great. BOTH CHICKENS ARE GREAT. It's really to the point that I can't even decide which one I like best because they're so good. Their fries? Also good, which you wouldn't necessarily expect because it seems a bit of an outlier. They are crispy and browned just enough to be extra tasty and you can get toppings (FETA FRIES, HELL YES). I crave this food, full stop. So much that I kind of wish they had a sampler platter so I could just get a little of everything, every time. Fourth, made with love. Fifth, affordable. I like to order the lentil rice with medium spice gyro or the delicious greek chicken topped with double cabbage (it makes the bowl), pickles, tomatoes, cucumbers, chickpeas, and parsley, along with the magical sauce. Best Mediterranean food I've had in Columbus. The grape leaves and falafel are perfect with authentic flavor. The feta dip is my favorite and I add it to everything. It's slightly spicy and nicely salty. I usually get a hummus bowl add rice and double portion of gyro meat with other additions. They're very liberal with their portions. A mediterannean chipotle style dining experience. The pita option and regular greek style is the most economical option. For 7$ you get a big meal, it has the potential to be the biggest gyro you have ever had. Toppings are unlimited except feta and olives are extra. I loooooove the Shawarma! This place is great! It's set up like Chipotle. You choose your base, then your protein and then your toppings. They will give you samples if you've never had it before. The first time we ate here, those samples helped us a lot. I always get the chicken shawarma on rice with lentils and tons of veggies! The house sauce is great! I wish they had one here in Cincy. We were up here for the weekend for work and saw the reviews for Sababa, and decided definitely had to check it out. It's like Mediterranean food but served Chipotle-style. A little bit Americanized, fast-casual, but still solid and very good. One obvious difference is that whatever protein you get is warmed up or made right when you order it. The falafel is formed and fried, and the meats are cooked on the griddle/stove thing. I wasn't adventurous enough to stray from chicken shawarma both times since it was too tasty. I got a chance to try the salad (comes with free feta!), and the pita. I didn't get to try the brown rice with lentils, but it definitely looked tasty in my coworkers' bowls. The price is really good for the monstrous portions that you get. I'd definitely come back whenever I find myself in Columbus again! read more

I am a huge Mezze fan and everyone has told me that Mezze isn't the same as it use to be since the original owner is no longer there. I never had the chance to experience it when it was owned by him. So when I heard that he was opening his own place again, I was thrilled to go and try it. I was really excited to see all of the great reviews about the place too. However I was very disappointed. I ordered the chicken with rice all of the toppings besides pickles, feta cheese, house sauce, and I also asked for spicy. I took a bite and I did not taste any spice, I actually think they forget to add it. It wasn't very flavorful to me. Everyone that works there are very friendly. They were very helpful to everyone who had questions about their menu and their food. They even were allowing people to taste things off from their menu before they ordered. I did like that. This is a new place owned by the guy who started Mezze in Gahanna. It's the same concept but set up in a more customer friendly way. You go down the line and add toppings as you go. I had a Hummus base with curried chicken. The house sauce is great on top. My wife had a rice base with gyro meat and hers was awesome as well. This place is almost a five star review for me- and I have a feeling that eventually it will be. I have been here twice now and feel ready to comment. I love the food, and I love the setup. However, there are a few kinks that need addressed before this place will really be fluid. On both visits I have ordered a pita. On the second visit I was presented with a size choice- a smaller thicker pita (Greek I believe) or a larger thinner pita (Middle Eastern?). I am not sure if this is always an option, as this has not been consistent. I'm also a little disappointed that they aren't made from scratch- but I think I've been getting spoiled by a shop near my work. After you place your order for a pita, you turn the corner and order your meat. Both visits I have ordered chicken- my husband has tried the gyro. I believe they have two different types of chicken- one with garlic and oregano and another with curry. However, I am not clear on this. My husband mentioned that it would be helpful if they had some sort of sign or label denoting choices all throughout this process. This is also the point that you need to speak up if you want spice added. I believe they have three levels of spice- I have only tried the mild. The first visit this was offered, the second it was not. Next are toppings. They have an awesome selection, but again, nothing is labeled. Most of it is easily identifiable- but if you are new to this type of food maybe not. The house sauce is delicious, neither of us have tried anything else. I find this place to be a MUCH welcomed addition to our neighborhood, and plan on being a weekly visitor. I really hope the little kinks are streamlined soon, as the food is worth coming back for, and often. I'm not sure if the lack of signage is an attempt at simplicity or if they are trying to create a more upscale environment. It would be helpful to have more guidance or more consistency then is presently offered. Asking questions would also be much simpler if the music was not so loud you cannot communicate efficiently with the staff. I got lured to this restaurant with a coupon. When I walked in I said it was my first time! They instantly offered to allow me to try all three of their meats and both of their rice combinations. They were so friendly and so accommodating! It is A Mediterranean spin on a chipotle model! The food is fresh and grilled with your order! You can have rice, salad, pita and then pick your meat and toppings! What a great value and amazing flavor! Adam was the best server I've ever had and the owner was so sweet and amazingly helpful! Delicious! Heard about this place so thought Id give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by all the selections. The chicken flavored with curry was amazing as was the lentil rice. The falafel was a little dry but the taste was still good. There was also a nice array of additions to go along with your order (though feta and olives are not free). We were greeted by the owner who let us sample the meats and rices to help us decide what to choose. Very friendly and he really made us feel at home. Milana was also very helpful in describing all the various sauces and toppings! The entire atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing and makes me want to return and try all the other selections. We stopped in here for takeout on a road trip through Columbus. I was craving a salad after hours on the road and this seemed like a convenient and yummy way to get my meat and veg on. I'm so happy we chose to go here because it was excellent and fresh and easy enough to eat while in a car. My husband and I both ordered our salad bowls with extra meat (living that paleo life!) and both had a ton of leftovers for lunch the next day. Hubby had his salad with olives, slaw, tahini and gyro while I opted for a gyro and chicken combo with nearly all the toppings (the banana peppers were a nice spicy touch). Both meats were super flavorful and tender and I really appreciated that the girl behind the counter put our meat in a separate container so that we could "fit more toppings on the salad." It also made it easier to heat up our leftovers the next day! I wish we had something like this close by because I'd be stopping in often! read more

This place here in Columbus near Reynoldsburg which is a quick, Greek style Chipotle. You choose your base, which can be rice or lettuce, your protein which can be streak, chicken or falafel, and then an assortment of veggies. I got a lettuce base with falafel with more lettuce, tomato, Olives, pepperchinis, cucumbers with a side of cucumber yogurt sauce and pita bread. Amazing bowl!! Sababa has the best falafel, hands down! At most resturant it tastes like hay, but not here. It's made to order, which requires me to wait on my food, but it's completely worth it. As a pescatarian, Greek can be a challenging food type, unless I want to buy a veggie pita or hummus. Not anymore! I've been here twice already even though this location has only been open a few months. I've gotten the dip trio once and the fire feta dip only on my second visit. It was amazing as well. The food is good and they are friendly and let us sample their offerings for my first time in. They are promoting this mobile app of theirs that really doesn't do anything. I was satisfied until today when I tried to order on the app and it's not available. I called the restaurant and they told me in the future that will be possible. I said okay can you go ahead and take my order so it will be ready when I get there? He said sorry we cannot take phone orders. Why? Most places take phone orders. If you don't have any other options for your customers and you're trying to grow your business, that practice isn't very customer friendly. We are going somewhere else to eat now and there's a high probability that I won't spend my money there again. read more

This place is bomb!! Pretty small place right next to Mount Carmel serving up some legit fresh Mediterranean food. It's a fast casual concept where you get to choose a base (lots of options here) and a main ingredient (gold star for the Greek chicken) and tons of fresh veggies and toppings to finish it off. I liked how they finish off your protein choice on the grill so it comes out hot when you order. If you like spice, I'd suggest the spicy sauce. Just enough heat to feel it but still enjoy what you're eating. All the veggies were super fresh, so I mean why be shy...get them all! Feta is an extra dollar, but it's definitely worth it (and let's be real we all know you want it). And all of this for a pretty affordable price from $8-10ish. Will definitely be back to try more combos. Highly recommend! read more

I like this place and I think the best way I can describe it is that it is a Mediterranean version of Chipotle. I might come back here, but honestly I agree with my family that it wasn't really anything that special. There is Greek food that is much better in Columbus. The workers were very nice to us and even let us taste things if we had never tried it before. I have friends that have come here and they also really like it, so it might just be us that aren't huge fans. I love the food here and the portion sizes are generous. The falafel salad is my favorite. I'm a vegetarian and I heard that the lentil rice base has chicken stock in it so that's why I get the salad. So be warned if you avoid meat. The owner is very nice but there is a grumpy worker there usually when I go in the evenings that just makes me not want to go back, despite how yummy the food is. He's not friendly at all. Our new favorite takeout restaurant! Just tried this place for the first a week ago and have already ordered takeout 3x's. Food is fresh and delicious and service is on point. We opted for the family meal on our most recent order and as a previous reviewer mentioned it is sooo much food!!! It easily serves 6+ at a great price. Couldn't be more excited about eating the leftovers for the next few days. Order was packed with care and they even had it packed up in a box to make it easier to carry out to the car. Bowls, utensils, and napkins were also provided, so the only clean up after we finished eating was finding room in the fridge for ALL the leftovers. The ingredients were fresh, the portions huge and are helpfully served up in their own takeout containers, the owner & manager were so friendly and helpful in explaining the process, the restaurant (and restroom) was squeaky clean, and we had to do a double take at the prices because everything was so affordable. We waited for this place to open and then gave them a few weeks to get the kinks worked out. I am SO sorry we waited! The food is fresh and full of flavour. My wife and I each got the pita wrap (mine with falafel; hers with chicken). Loaded up with veggies and kalamata olives (mine only), added an order of fries (great!) and stuffed grape leaves (wow!), but would have had plenty of food with just the pita wraps. The pita wraps are big (think Chipotle burrito), and you get to customise it the way you want it from adding spice to your protein, to selecting your veggies and dressing. The fries are like something from the fair (step up from Five Guys). The grape leaves were tender, full of flavour and delicious. And don't get me started on the baklava! Yum! Johnny (owner) is constantly offering samples. He wants you to know what you want (or what you will come back for next time!). He truly wants to offer great food to his customers. We are lucky to have something like this come to the Reynoldsburg/Blacklick area as opposed to the bland chains that keep popping up. So good we took the kids 3 days later and it was a hit! It's set up like a Chipotle, where you choose a pita, salad, rice bowl, etc, then a protein, and veggies, and they make it on the line for you. I ordered the falafel on a salad. It's a little pricey in my opinion (especially since they charge $1 extra for feta and kalamata olives) but they were very generous with the veggie toppings, and their house sauce is delicious. The falafel was cooked to order and very good, if lacking a little spice. They had a spice it up option, but this was also an addition $1. The servers were very friendly.
