Sababa is our new favorite place to savor mediterranean specialities. It's similar to Chipotle and Piada in terms of ordering. As true foodies who are spoiled having grown up in the diverse culture of NY, we were more than enthusiastic to try a new ethnic restaurant. We were delighted to be greeted by smiling and friendly faces and a variety of samples to indulge in prior to ordering. It was a difficult decision as everything tasted divine! We chose one of each rice dish as it was too challenging to just pick one. Each has a very distinct aromatic flavor. The protein or meat choices were exceptional---light, fresh, with just the right amount of spices. Then, you are presented with an array of tasty toppings. The portions are very generous.. customer service is excellent..Our bellies are full and our hearts are happy. We will most definitely return again real soon! :) read more

Wow! This place is REALLY good. I can't believe I haven't tried it before today. I LOVE Greek and I'm always looking for somewhere to get a good salad with veggies, not just lettuce and a bunch of high calorie add-ons. I had a salad with chicken done in the medium spicy, the flavor was outstanding! I added all the veggies including some olives and had the medium spicy dressing on the side. The dressing also had a wonderful flavor but it was actually *almost* too spicy for me. I enjoy spicy food but I want the flavor, I don't want to be blowing my nose and wiping my eyes my whole meal. With this dressing I used my fork and spread a little bit on my salad at a time and turn took some bites without to kind of even out the spicy. I cleared out my sinuses pretty well but I would definitely choose this style again because the flavor was just so good. The lady working was super nice and explained everything I asked about very well. Since this place is so close to home and even closer to work I imagine I will be a frequent flyer! read more

First time here. The lady working was super polite and allowed my mother and I to sample the types of protein before placing our order. The sauces are very tasty and my salad was delicious. Had an unfortunate experience via Uber tonight. We are a fan of the food and normally order through Uber since it's a bit far from us. Uber does not let you write in things like "sauce on the side". In the past, we've called immediately after ordering and provide our name and request the sauces to be on the side. Tonight I called and requested sauce on the side. The person who answered the phone said she would take care of it. The order arrived and both items were drenched in sauce. I called the restaurant back and the same person answered the phone. I explained that the order was inedible because of the amount of sauce on the order. She just handed the phone to a gentleman and I relayed the story again. He said, "what do you want me to do about it?" Not the best answer for someone who was not out of a dinner. I explained that we would probably refrain from ordering from them in the future and he said, I'm so sorry you feel that way. We received an adjustment from Uber; however, the customer service was extremely lacking on the part of the individual who I assume was the manager. read more

I came here for the first time today. The food was amazing. Unfortunately, I think this means I'll be coming here all the time lol. I asked the girl working if I could have a taste of the shawarma and she gave me a little baby sample platter of the greek chicken, chicken shawarma, and gyro meat. Maybe we caught them on an off day (I hope so) because the food was just average at best and the employees were not helpful at all. When I asked questions I was given minimal answers. We were upcharged without being told something was extra. We may revisit but I'm not totally sure about that as again the meal was run of the mill. This is a great place for middle-eastern food. I met the owner, John, who offered me a taste of his various flavored meat toppings - they were all delicious. I ordered a gyro on grilled pita bread and it was great. The nice thing about Sabada's is that you can order exactly what you want and watch ot put together in front of you. If you think this place is good, you don't get around much to Greek or middle eastern restaurants much. Somebody said the Chipotle idea doesn't work here. Right on. The food isn't bad, but it sure isn't great. The pita is thin and bland. The mezze are unspectacular...although the tzaziki is pretty good. The meat portions and quality are average. My first trip..out of two...I ordered three mezze. They got two wrong. They're always in too much of a hurry. Tell ya what: close down for a month or so. Rebuild the menu. Make it a sit down and order restaurant. Work on value and quality. Oh...and get rid of that tomato-ey red mezze...it ain't happening. read more

I'm fond of Mezze and heard that Sababa was owned by the same people so I came with high expectations. Went with my husband for lunch. The owner... I think he was the owner? Was supper nice! Right through the door, he offered us a sample of the meats and rice. He served up a small plate loaded with chicken shawarma, gyro, greek chicken and two little cups of rice. It was a hefty sample that could almost pass for a small meal, itself! Of course, we were sold! I had the shawarma and house rice. He had the brown rice and gyro. Neither of us could finish our lunches (so we brought them home for later.) Fast, delicious and filling! We will certainly be back. It's good to have good Mediterranean close to home. This is a very decent place with very good offerings. I think some reviewers are rating it as Greek food, which is not exactly the case here. With an Israeli Arab owner (Former owner of Mezze), the food offerings is a "Mediterranean street food fusion" of Middle eastern (mostly Lebanese), Greek, and a hint of Turkish. That is the key here. It is fresh street food, NOT to be confused with 'street meat' by you drunk shenanigans; yeah you know who you are :). It is similar to Piada and Chipotle concept in that you construct your plate however you like with fresh ingredients. Set your expectations accordingly as that. Don't come here expecting a more refined concept. It is not exactly fine dining, so I would not compare it to other full blown Greek restaurants like other reviews do. I really think they missed the mark when they did that. You could also compare it to a lessor degree to Brassica in the short north, but not as trendy. Sababa is definitely more casual. Anyway, the food is fresh and good especially during busy lunch hour. They let you sample so that's a plus. Staff are very friendly, and when Johnny, the owner is there, he is always most welcoming with a big smile and free food samples for new customers, or just anyone really who likes to try samples again. It's a solid quick healthier choice if you happen to be in the area and price point is very decent, at around $10. read more
