Pretty solid spot to scratch your mexican food crave. The food was a received a little cold but I was honestly so hungry I just ate it anyway and the overall taste of them ticked all my boxes. It was flavorful and loved their salsa verde. Their tortilla chips were also bomb! If only it was served hot I would give them a full 5-star rating. It does get 4 stars for the service!! I like this place. I ordered the chicken Clarinetes and am always impressed with the amount of food you receive for a decent price. As we were dining in it took a long time to receive our main entree. We did receive some chips and salsa early when we arrived. You got two Clarinetes and one my order one was exceptionally large! What I ordered: * Steak home nachos * Chicken tacos Everything was flavorful and satisfying -- exactly what I wanted. No complaints on the food at all. Service is usually great too, but there was a new worker tonight who took my order over the phone. She was fine, but I'm not gonna lie... it wasn't the same service you get from the family members/owners. Hopefully she'll get better as she settles in. The only downside (and this isn't new) is the parking. That busy street stays hectic, and depending on the time of day, finding a spot can be a whole mission. A hidden gem in Old Town Pinole on San Pablo Ave. I've only been to this establishment once but it hit all the marks. Next time I'm in the area, I'll make sure to stop by. Was visiting a friend of mine in the area and ordered two wet burritos as takeout. The restaurant was quick and efficient and had my order ready within 15 minutes of calling in. The carne asada wet burrito came loaded w/ steak, rice, beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, cheese and crema. The toppings come w/ a choice of red sauce (mild) and green (spicy). I of course had to make a couple of additions w/ adding guacamole and spicy salsa inside the burrito. The burrito also came w/ a side of chips & salsa and it hit the spot. I've only got rice from here before and I see why, it's okay, but $3.50 for added guacamole is crazy and it was barley any in my burrito and the same with the carne asada. Neighborhood burrito spot. We pass by it almost every day and finally decided to stop in and support. Inside of the store is spacious with three or four tables to sit inside and more tables outside as well. Menu visible on the wall at cash register. Hubby ordered a steak burrito and I ordered the shrimp to go. The flavor of both burritos was lacking with unseasoned beans and rice. The salsa included was barely noticeable and the cheese was present. Shrimp was cooked well. There was a lot of excess tortilla remaining following the end of the burrito. The ingredients inside the burrito were not well portioned as each bite never gave me all in one bite. One side of a bite offered rice and shrimp while the other offered black beans and salsa. The orders each came with a side of chips and salsa. The chips had an added season that was barely noticeable, while the salsa was watery with barely any tomato, onion... included. If this is the same salsa inside the burrito as what is served with the chips then I know why the salsa was not existent in the burrito. None of the ingredients were given any extra attention with flavor making the burrito desire more than a bunch of ingredients in a tortilla passed off as a burrito. More than likely will we not return. Excluding the convenience of the location, Sabor Latino 17 does not offer us any more than that. read more

July 3 2025 3.5 stars. Having enjoyed our Sabor Latino coffee so much a few days ago, we stopped in today for a bite. The music is a little louder than last time - maybe louder than needed to offset the traffic noise. A Chill relleno, an enchilada rice and beans and a coke to share rang up to $18.30. We tip in cash rather than on credit card to ensure the wait staff and not the restaurant gets what is there's. Unfortunately the cashier\server couldn't break a $20 bill and got self inflicted stiffed. The food was plated beautifully but seemed spread a little thin. Thin as in the food portions were small or flat. It would have helped if tortillas accompanied the meal. I was reading recently about how Mexican food is sometimes served on heated plates. Those resturaunts where you are warned "it's hot ok?". Our meal could have used those. The plates used here are plastic and though the relleno was hot enough, the sides of rice and beans were disappointingly warm. Over by the front window sits the ball of paper that was waiting to be swept up two days ago, and under a table on a shelf in view of the customers sits some stuff that needs a better location. Finally were able to try this place. My wife got some enchiladas that she said were excellent (and took her two days to eat, lol) but I got a burrito. Everything was fresh and delicious but there was this sauce on there, kind of sweet and spicy, I'm not sure what it was but it really made that burrito. I only with the thing was bigger. Tasty Latin food with a welcoming feel!!!! I recently ate at Sabor Latino 17 and really enjoyed the experience. The food was flavorful and tasted fresh, especially the seasoned meats and sides. Portions were satisfying, and everything came out hot and well prepared. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome, even though the place was fairly busy. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, making it a good spot for a relaxed meal. Overall, Sabor Latino 17 offers solid Latin cuisine at a fair price. My husband and I have been staying in Pinole for the past year and have been wanting to try as many restaurants as possible in the area while we're here, so we finally tried this place. I ordered online and my husband picked it up. He said it smelled great inside, and thought it might be the chicken they were cooking.. I hadn't ordered the chicken, I ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito and al pastor wet burrito. I have mixed feelings on both the burritos we received. Normally when I order a breakfast burrito from a Mexican joint it's huge, my husband and I usually split it but this one was very small in comparison. It wasn't bad though, just A LOT of filler for such a small burrito. I like the addition of beans as well as the potatoes and egg/chorizo mixture but it was missing the green sauce and sour cream flavors and didn't come with any green sauce on the side. Online it says you can purchase extra sauce but I didn't because I assumed it would come with one or two- as most Mexican restaurants do it that way. My husband is not a fan of "filler" in his burritos but the breakfast burrito didn't bother him as much as the wet burrito did. That thing was mostly beans and rice, if the al pastor had any flavor at all it was lost in there. They did add some chips and a small side of very runny flavorless salsa to the bag so we were able to use that salsa for the breakfast burrito, but it's not the same as the green stuff you normally get from a Mexican restaurant. The chips were trash. Overall I would say this place is VERY Americanized, so if that's how you like your Mexican food you'll enjoy it but if you're looking for something more authentic I'd go somewhere else. read more

I pass by this place when I am driving on San Pablo Ave. When I tried it out for the first time I will impress how my food turned out, Sabor Latino has a place to get a haircut next door. I guess when your family member gets a haircut you can be eating tacos. The menu was easy to understand...there is a picture of the food. Don't worry on how much the food cost. I've been coming here for 20 years or so. I like their enchiladas verde and mole. They have cards they stamp that get one free meal for 10 paid meals, and I've used up half a dozen of those. The enchiladas are as good as ever, but the last 2 times I've been there the rice and beans were barely room temperature! That cheese on the beans doesn't have a chance to even begin to melt. If I go somewhere for a hot meal on a cold day, as it's been lately, I expect the food to be at least decently warm. Both times I've brought it to the attention of staff, both times it got shrugged off. There are plenty of other places I know in the area. The Taste Of Latin! So glad to have a Latin restaurant locally. Actually there are many more in Pinole, San Pablo and Richmond areas but Sabor Latino 17 is the closest one to me. Last week we decided to pick up dinner at Sabor Latino and we ordered the Spicy shrimp plate and the chicken burrito for wifey. The chicken burrito was really good. Very flavorful and packed heavy. We don't eat much chicken burritos but we thought we tried it out this time. I'm glad we did. But what stood out to me the most was the Spicy Shrimp plate. The heat was definitely present and the flavors were delicious everywhere: on the shrimps and the sauce. We even ate with our own white rice and wow, it was masarap/bueno! If you know about Filipino in general, if there's a flavorful sauce, broth, or anything sautéed on the table, we always have to try it with rice. Why not? Lol. I don't mind mixing Filipino with Latin flavors at all! I'm always exploring the possibilities! Nevertheless, check out Sabor Latino 17 whenever your in the area! I know I will! Visiting the area for my first time and randomly chose to try this place for lunch. I definitely made a great choice because this place really exceeded my expectations. I tried a chicken burrito which came with a side of salsa and chips. The burrito is packed with a generous amount of meat, beans, amazing Spanish rice, and a number of other toppings. I was so full after! The chips and salsa were also fresh and I definitely went back for more of the delicious salsa. Hubbers was working at home on my day off and since it is what it is (a day off!) I didn't feel like putting any effort for a home cooked breakfast on that Friday morning. But! I wasn't about to leave him starving, so I asked if there was something he might like that doesn't require me working in the kitchen. That's when he brought this place up and how much he likes their chorizo breakfast burrito. So I took the 5 minute drive. I lucked out and found parking right up front. There were no other customers other than me so I expected swift service. Put in Hubbers' breakfast burrito and although that sounded delicious, I wanted to try something else: asada burrito it is. When I was being rung up, I noticed horchata - which I haven't had for a minute! So, I went for that, too. Everything was made to order, but the wait wasn't bad at all (given I was the only customer there.) I was on my way home in no time. One thing is that they are generous. I immediately cut mine in half because I already knew there was no way I was gon' finish the whole thing. They didn't skimp on the protein (which was cooked and seasoned tender) and the fillers didn't overpower the protein. Each bite was delicious. The horchata was a fantastic palate cleanser. Oh... side of chips (that came with each burrito) were made fresh as well! Hubbers enjoyed his breakfast treat. No surprise there since he's had it (and enjoyed it) a few times before. FOOD: 4. Good, but has potential to be better. SERVICE: 4. Not a lot of interaction, but cashier was friendly. But props to her because she was accommodating with Hubbers' request for additional sala packets. VALUE: 5. You get a lot for what you pay for! PARKING: Street- not an issue. There's plenty to go around. OVERALL: 4.25. Nacho craving fulfilled! On my quest to try different Contra Costa county eateries, I came across this neighborhood Latin spot in downtown Pinole. I ordered home nachos ($11.29) with carne asada online and it was ready a few minutes after I arrived. Indoor dining was closed but there were a few tables outside. I wanted to dig in so they wouldn't get soggy on the way home. The nachos were really yummy and loaded with freshly made chips, carne asada, guacamole, sour cream, pico de Gallo, 2 cheeses (mozzarella and nacho- score!), beans, rice. Each bite was delicious and I finished most of it but was so stuffed toward the end. Glad to have a tasty Mexican place nearby. Look forward to trying their other items! read more

Tried this place out for the second time. First time around was pre-COVID and we thought the food was really good, but my sister's burrito had a strip of a literal plastic bag inside! Imagine biting into a burrito and a string of plastic comes out. Although that happened, I was craving an asada burrito, and it was convenient with East Bay Coffee nearby. We ordered 2 burritos and it was satisfying, but unfortunately there was so little lettuce and beans. It was mostly meat and rice. I won't be coming back!! I ordered the steak fajitas which came out on the plate looking and chewing like beef jerkey. Flavorless and dry flat meat, there was no juice to the meat and I had trim all of the fat and gristle off of it before I could try eating it. I asked for a highchair and she pointed the direction close to the bathrooms for me to get it myself. The food was tasty, but it took almost 20 minutes for the food to arrive even though we were the only table there seated. You have to pay before you eat, which was a bummer since we are already paid gratuities. Especially since there was zero service as I mentioned. There was no greetings from the hostess/waitress... It was only a little over a month ago when times were simpler and more innocent. You only realize now how much you take for granted when you realize you can't just walk into a taqueria and sit down at a formica table to appreciate it. Jamie W. and I were able to do just that after taking a good walk on the San Pablo Bay Regional Trail. For our mains, we were pleasantly surprised that the only two salads they offered, both $10.69, were quite satisfying. The first was the Chicken Salad with both romaine lettuce and spinach leaves. I generally don't eat latin/mexican food very much but every now and then I do love a good nachos dish and this place makes it the BEST!! None of that cheese cream some places are using which in my opinion, is an insult to good nachos. They use the real stuff and on top of that the nachos are loaded! Service is always prompt but I do order by phone which is very convenient. If you're looking for authentic nachos and take this dish very seriously, I would highly recommend Sabor.
