One of my favorites spots. Dinner is great but brunch is my favorite. I highly recommend.

We had high hopes since this restaurant was named "Best New Restaurant in Cincinnati for 2018", but it was just "eh" for us. It's nice that they take reservations and the fare is "diner" but with a step up. They sat the both of us in this weird, barren section of the dining room next to the kitchen door. The service staff was friendly, but certainly not prompt (our appetizer arrived before our cocktails). The menu features the typical American fare (fried food, breakfast and meat options) - all overpriced for what it is in our opinion. Diner food should reflect diner prices, unless the food and service are exceptional, which it was not. read more

What a great brunch! I went here with family on a Sunday afternoon and we loved what we ordered. The pancakes are second to none and the omelette and breakfast nachos were perfectly seasoned and delicious! The decor is understands and sophisticated and has an amazing touch of farmhouse chic. The big booths make for comfortable seating with friends or family. Definitely will be coming back when I'm in town again. Keep it up, Sacred Beast!!!! read more

We had reservations before a show for Sacred Beast, and were pleased when they seated us outside as we requested through Open Table. We were brought tiny glasses of water immediately. I appreciate the gesture, but a full glass would've been better. The menu was fine, but no plant based options except maybe the garden salad (?). We ordered an old fashioned, a Sazerac, chicken parm, and the garden salad with salmon. Everything was brought out very quickly. The drinks were fine. The entrees arrived and the salads were very small, the salmon was miniscule and appeared to be farm raised. For $8, it should be a nice portion or at least wild caught. No bread, none even available for purchase. The dressing was so thin it caught on the lettuce and flicked all over us, the glass wear, and the table. We had to laugh. It was tasty, but needed to be emulsified. The parm had no pasta. None available for purchase. As we were still hungry we ordered fries. Good, but again, small for the price. Of course we had room for dessert and shared butter cake. Yum. The server was a gem; wish I'd remembered his name. Unfortunately with the prices, portions, and not many plant based options, we won't be back. read more

I love reading the negative reviews of this place. Ok, I'm not an owner, granted. But still. Knowing I get even faster wait times to the deliciousness that is Sacred Beast makes my heart swoon. Look, don't buy into it (ok I just remembered this place needs people to thrive and you know stay open so yes you should patronize this place). I came today with a brother and Father to celebrate Father's Day. It actually was a bit of a mistake. The original place we wanted to go was closed today (losers) but since I had heard good things about Sacred Beast and, even better, they were open, it seemed like a no brainer. And boy am I glad we came here. This mix up was even greater than the discovery of penicillin, and that is a scientific fact. The three of us, culinarians all proceeded to order roughly half the damn menu. We started with the salted beets with goat cheese and pistachios. Mostly it was so we can get SOME vegetables in. But really, it was just good. The beats may have been salted, but they were by no means SALTY. The cheese played off well with the earthiness and the pistachios brought a much needed textural component as well as slightly sweet notes that cut throughout the salad. This we ordered with the Foie Gras, in season strawberry preserves and toast. I love a torchon of foie, and this absolutely did not disappoint. Foie pairs delightfully with sweet fruit and this was no exception. The fatty, unctuousness atop the crusty, toasted bread with bits of char served as the luscious component to fresh, rich strawberries in season. So good you can taste the Cincinatti sunshine in every bite, the foie keeping it just a little longer on your lips (and perhaps a minute or two longer on the hips). After, we just HAD to order the Korean Fried Chicken. Sorry Colonel, your melted down highway cone of a mac and cheese is delicious but this is the KFC I long and crave for. It's served with a spicy maple that was not what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be sticky, spicy, syrupy but instead it was spicy, sweet and CREAMY. It was perfect to dip super hot (temperature wise) chunks of juicy and perfectly crisp fried chicken into. Pro tip, ask for a side of the chilis which graced our next dish. Deviled eggs. They may not be a big deal to you, but they're a big deal to me. I don't know what it is about them, but I go crazy for them. And nothing throws me into a pit of despair and self loathing than the rubbery, bland eggs you can get premade at grocery stores. What I'm saying is, they mean a lot to me. They should mean a lot to you, too. These, here at the Sacredest of Beasts mean a lot to me. A beautifully cooked (and not rubbery) egg; the perfect vessel for toppings. In this case, the aforementioned chilis (hot and VERY tasty; a hard balance to nail), PORK RINDS, a little celery leaf (from the stalk) and this super intriguing and just oh so right pickled mustard. The real genius of these things though is that the team at Sacred Beast does a soft boil to the eggs and then, and THEN, tops them with the usual deviled bits. So not only to you get the tasty deviled in deviled egg part on top, but you get this expertly cooked yolk as well. These things were a revelation. After eating them, I had to go back and meet the owner, Jeremy. He said everyone thought he was crazy for wanting to keep the yolk intact. It was crazy. Crazy delicious. It just makes so much sense that even now sitting here typing I am getting angry no one else thought of this. Why aren't we doing this more? I recently cured and smoked my own bacon of which I made sure to save the skin. I think I know what I'm doing this week (read: pork rind deviled eggs). Last but certainly not least were our mains; double cheeseburgers. We all ordered them, we pressured Father into adding not only the pork belly (which we all did) but also the fried egg. Our double burgers came out as triples. Apparently this is a secret here, so don't tell them where you learned this from but their single is actually a double and their double is, you guessed it, a trip. Genius. And it is a damn fine burger. The bun is awesome. Great texture, just bland enough (because come on, it's about the meats and cheese). They also do a thin patty which, as a native Californian, I absolutely adore. The crust on their patties is on point. It makes Maillard himself weep in joy. They come, usually, with pickles and onion but you can get other accoutrements as well (tomato and lettuce, bib in this case). The one little misstep to me were the pickles. I love a good dill pickle and there's I don't think added to much to the burger. I may have wanted something else to cut through the meat and fat instead. Maybe pickled red onions. I'm not sure. But if this was the one misstep, then they are doing pretty damn good. This place is a must stop in Cinci. Come in, support a lovely family and great servers. read more

I think this may have been the worst food I have ever eaten. My boyfriend and I went to Sacred Beast this evening to celebrate my new job offer and found ourselves almost sick to our stomachs at the sh*t they served. Our waitress so kindly referred some "Chicken Liver Mousse" as a starter ... okay so sounds bad right? She claimed this was the "best appetizer on their menu." Us *being super not-picky people* decide to try it. I swear to god they brought out some pink/ brown paste on a slice of toast that tasted as bad as it looked. Our "steak dinner" was not much better. A sliver of meat with a side of mush broccoli (aka their "Chinese broccoli) was a joke. Please take my advice... DO NOT EAT HERE. read more

I loved it. Fantastic burgers and deviled Eggs. Burgers are often cooked to long but here it was just right. I got my double Cheeseburger with onion rings and the rings were a delightful surprise with a fluffy batter that made them unique among onion rings. The staff is friendly and helpful but at the same time that give you space which I appreciated. read more

We went here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and to our pleasant surprise the brunch menu was still available. Sacred Beast has a wide menu and it was so hard to pick just one thing but I ultimately settled on the crispy chicken and got a side of fries. We didn't have to wait too long for our food but felt it was timed great and we never felt rushed. The service was awesome and the staff was very attentive. My chicken was great! I wasn't a fan of the dipping sauces but it was of no fault of the restaurant. My boyfriend got the smoked salmon and bad boy bread and he raves about it. He said he can't wait to come back to have it again. We will definitely be repeat customers! read more

Great food, good service, rough location with plenty of space. It's on the northern end of Vine St. where a lot of the rehab / revitalization work has not happened yet, so there is a lot of less desirable people and things that are happening in this location. One other item that probably needs addressed is the music was very loud and was an eclectic mix of hip hop with a lot explicit lyrics - not what I would typically want for a dinner out with family or your significant other. A few changes and some time for the Vine St. work to continue and it could go from decent to great. read more

Before I came here I was told the burger was whatever. FALSE. I now dream about the burger. I'm a basic white girl or whatever but I was disappointed by the no bacon for maybe .03 seconds and then they challenged me with 'we have pork belly, we don't need bacon'. TOUCHÉ. We have been here twice, once for brunch and once for dinner. Both times were really good. I had the burger for dinner and it was a really good simple burger and sometimes that is all you need. For brunch I tried the house made goetta and I would make the trip back just for that. The staff is really helpful and you can tell they really like working there. read more

The bartending is excellent. Fabulous old fashioned. The wine list is questionable. They do glasses on draft! Four choices red, white, rose and sparkling. The white was awful, although apparently not their usual. The food is good but so are a lot of other places. Bibb salad was perfectly fresh with house vinaigrette. French fries seem to have truffle oil. Salmon was very good. Fries and shrimp ok. 9 tiny shrimp so mainly fries with a dash of lobster sauce, no lobster meat. Pricing is fine. Hubby and I came here after an event at Music Hall, and we were not disappointed! Wyatt gave us great service - so personable and helpful with his recos. Love having a bottle of water at the table and the beautiful decor. For an app we chose the chicken liver mousse. So smooth and light, spread on Blue Oven Bakery bread. Served with cornichons and a light salad of parsley and sautéed shallots. There also was a small dish of butter, but it was not needed at all. All.so.good! Hubby went with a burger with cheese and pork belly. Raved about the flavor and the bread! I went with the neck bone gravy on hashed browns. This was served with a perfectly cooked fried egg on top and just the right size pieces of chicken embedded within the gravy and potatoes. Yum! I was worried that it would be heavy, and Wyatt assured me that it wasn't. It was just the right portion too! Okay, so... my problem is the food being poorly executed. I "Chef" for a living.... example .. bacon is served as pork belly , here; it is sautéed or roasted or what have you.... pork belly is to be brined or braised to flavor and tenderize.. it just came out as a hard , chewy piece of meat with a cheaper cut of meats' texture. Next... deviled eggs... great look and delicate playing... the egg whites cut on point.. no curves or bumps... however.. under the yolk filling... a med-hard egg yolk.... in scooped or disturbed... where did the yolk mixture come from!!?? As soon as you walk in you can tell a lot of thought went into the design of the space. Not only will you be Shazaming most the songs you hear, but you'll also really appreciate the time and detail that went into the sound design of the space. It's custom build/design from No Canned Music located in Chicago. They also curated the music that plays on an old-school analog tape player like the one from Pulp Fiction. Playlist comes in 3 hour long segments of audio tape that are unique and represent different beast. They also located subwoofers in the benches. Chef Jeremy said after years of working in fine dining it was time to make food he loves and loves to eat. I had the burger, hash and beet salad. The flavors are well balanced and make you pause between each bit. I took notice of some of the guest taking their first bits and their reactions that I assume how I looked. Don't come here expecting a low cost meal, as the $$ yelp rating suggests. Paid $40 (no drinks) plus tip for two, and both of us left unsatisfied and ready for a second dinner. Service was okay, but the food left us unimpressed. Sacred Beast makes an effort to be unique in the handful of entrees they offer, but the menu lacks clarity and depth. A handful of entrees and starters are clumped together without distinction, and a couple of standard burgers are highlighted In the bottom corner... maybe I should've ordered one of those? The prices are high for the portion sizes offered ($9 for a small plate of grilled broccoli with ranch drizzled over it??) and the overall food quality (turmeric chicken was burnt, and parsley on the deviled eggs was yellow). The ambiance is perfect for any time of the day and great for couples or groups! The service and staff is even better. Special shoutout to server Erin who was knowledgeable, sweet and prompt. The chef, Jeremey, was welcoming and spent time getting to know us! This review is over 2 separate experiences. The reason for 4 rather than 5 is the burger was very hyped up and I found it very underwhelming. It was okay. However, brunch was UNREAL. Diners breakfast was perfect. I will get it every time. We came here because there wasn't many places open after the Play we went to see nearby. It's dry pretty to look at the food was great as so was the service. I would give this place a 5 star but the music had me looking around the place wondering who was here that really wanted to hear Hip Hop? I mean, are we in a nice restaurant or a bar full of 21 year olds? I was tempted to go around and ask the few patrons there how they felt about the tunes but opted out. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard a restaurant was going in across from the Kroger on Vine! One of my best friends lived on that corner so my husband and I were excited to check it out. We were a little on the late side for dinner on a Saturday and chose to sit at the bar for ease of service. The bartender was great and had some nice suggestions but my picky husband was pretty much limited to just the burger. That being said... I could totally take a bath in that Mornay sauce at least three times a week if I could! #fancycheesesauceFTW Lots of interesting items but I'm not sure if we will go back... definitely will keep an eye on the menu on Yelp! read more
