This last minute girls day activity was such a great choice. We called the morning of the tour and were fit in for a trail ride by 2pm. We didn't ask for any sort of private tour but that's how it worked out for us. As a horseback tour guide myself, I love a real horsewoman like TJ . She got us all sorted and matched to our horses just as I would've myself and kept the riding tips short, sweet, and funny for my intermediate-experienced friends. (Horse girls are sometimes framed as overbearing and have a tendency to pack an attitude) - but not these instructors. Our guide was Jeff, a real cowboy this guy. Jeff was top tier entertainment and we thank him for taking all the girly photo requests! The horses were all beautiful, loved, and responded so well to our experience levels. Amazing experience. Our guide, Claire, is extremely friendly, patience, and a great story teller. We're complete beginners, and Claire made us felt safe and in good hands. It was enjoyable learning about the history of the horses, ranch, mountains, etc. Saw a baby coyote on the way too, so cute! Birthday plan ruined because TJ (co-owner) did not like the me asking too many questions to ensure my group horseback riding reservations went smoothly. I tried to confirm with the wineries as to where we should go once we got there, in case I wanted to make reservations to sit down and eat. They told me that Saddle Up Ranch would need to provide a voucher. Once I called TJ and told them what was said, she told me to stop interfering with their business arrangement and suggested that I cancel my reservations with horseback riding. Her attitude was trash and her customer service is unacceptable. I gladly cancelled and would not recommend them ever again! read more

We went for a one hour trail ride to celebrate my teenage daughter's birthday. She has never ridden a horse before so she went into it with zero experience. Right from the start, Clare made us feel welcomed and comfortable. She guided us through every part of the trail and let us know what to expect up ahead. Enjoyed a spectacular Sunday horseback ride with family & friends at "Saddle Up Wine Tours". TJ and Rodrigo have a terrific operation/cause in supporting Rescue horses at their ranch (over 60 horses, plus too many goats to count and dogs too!). One of their offerings is taking riders out to the Temecula backcountry on horseback. Upon our arrival, we were treated with a fun view of a group of ladies in "80s workout attire" (think Olivia Newton John) celebrating a 40th birthday while doing yoga with a herd of goats (25 or more? goats everywhere!!). Soon we were off on our trail ride to explore the hilltops and valleys far away from city life. Our group of 5 had such fun riding "Toby", "Bulldozer", "Mesa", "Foxy Roxy" & "Bar Fly". We were able to catch amazing views of the valley and spot local wildlife including jack rabbits and many quail. While on horseback, our horses both walked and trotted along while meandering behind our experienced trail guide Rodrigo. He was happy to answer all of our many questions. Our group agreed: best trail ride in SoCal. If you want to add an adventure to your wine tasting travels in Temecula, this is IT!!! read more

Led by very kind tour guides who VOLUNTEER all of their time to this ranch so that every dollar made can go right back into the horses. The trail was beautiful and our guide was fun and informative! ** just don't take an Uber from the wineries here! 1) no Uber will come back to pick you up because it is a bit off road 2) your car will likely get stuck behind a gate at the winery if there is a gate and you're out past closing hours! We were lucky that Tj, the very lovely lady who runs the Ranch was kind enough to take us back the 25 minute drive to our car. I can't recommend Saddle Up enough!! My partner and I are both new to SoCal, and my friend was visiting from North Carolina. We decided to take a day trip to Temecula to check out the wineries (we are from the wine region in Northern CA so we were curious how it compares). My friend loves to stay active, so what better way to get the best of both worlds than a horseback ride followed by wine tasting! We were supposed to go on one day, but we had a sudden change in plans and TJ and the team were kind enough to move us a few days later, no problem. Once we got to the ranch, we were paired with a horse and off we went down the trail! I appreciate TJ asked everyone's comfort level with horses, and we also had the option to wear helmets. This was maybe my second time riding a horse so I was a little apprehensive! The trail we went along was gorgeous. I think it represents quintessential California wine country! We stopped every so often so folks in the back could catch up, and we stopped at a really pretty lookout spot for photo ops. I wouldn't say it was a slow ride - there were parts when my horse really picked up the pace! But I never felt unsafe or left behind (my horse enjoyed chilling at the back of the lineup). TJ and her business partner (I forget her name but she led our tour) were so kind and had such a positive attitude and outlook! Once we were done, we headed over to Somerset Winery where all we had to do was tell them we came from Saddle Up Wine Tour, and they treated us to a wine tasting. The property was gorgeous - there is nice indoor and outdoor seating. Once again, it was one of those "I'm so lucky to enjoy this beautiful slice of California" moments! This would be such a fun activity for a bachelor/bachelorette party, any type of proposal, a date, a day out with the family, and so on. If you're visiting California and have yet to experience wine country, I highly recommend taking the trek out here. read more

TJ has a heart of gold. She saves so many horses. We went trail riding with my 11 year old daughter and it was fantastic! We loved it so much we came back last weekend! This last trail ride was so fun and exhilarating! We went up steep mountains and had the best views! She even takes awesome pictures! Her horses are all so trained and it was the highlight of our month! There is nothing like bonding with your child on horseback! We are already planning our next ride with her! This was a great experience! Me, my boyfriend, and son all went and were very happy with the time had. Our guide Mike and his wife Charlene were the greatest hosts. It was our sons first time riding and they did so great getting him up to speed with learning how to ride. Mike led our ride and he was so patient and easy going.
