My experience with Safelite Auto Glass in Bethesda was beyond infuriating. Despite arriving an hour early for my 9am appointment, the staff didn't even start working on my car until 10:30 because, conveniently, an employee had called out. This was not mentioned to me until i came back to check on the status 2.5 hours later. When I finally got my car back, it was handed over to me by employees who were too engrossed in their personal chat about expense submissions to even acknowledge my presence. To top it off, when I dared to ask for compensation for the colossal inconvenience, I was met with a dismissive "we don't really do that." Not only was the service ridiculously delayed, but the staff also couldn't care less about their customers' time or satisfaction. The techs who worked on my car handed my keys to the employees who were having a private conversation! Once their 15-20 minute conversation was over, then i was checked out. They've absolutely failed my expectations from the first visit to replace my rear passenger window in early September to today. The first technician couldn't replace the window because the glass was apparently cut incorrectly, which required a second appointment once the correct glass was cut. The second technician was able to replace the glass, but couldn't fix the plastic molding because it had been pulled off the door and the glue had separated, so I had to have a third appointment. The third technician came out and tried to reglue the molding, but it wouldn't hold, and the plastic was bent, so I had to make a fourth appointment once they ordered new molding. The 4th appointment was an in-shop appointment, during which I drove to the shop to discover that the wrong molding had been shipped, so I had to make yet another appointment. I received a text for my 5th appointment, which was scheduled for yesterday at the shop. Once again, I drove to the facility for my appointment and was informed that not all the parts were in. I requested a windshield replacement for my 2023 Camry SE. they provided me with quick and excellent service. Total service time took 2 hours and they even recalibrated my sensors in those 2 hours. It was a little on the expensive side but it was because my car has self driving sensors. All in all I'm satisfied with the work done and my car looks new again. read more

Do NOT use Safelite to replace a windshield if you own a Tesla. The told us that our insurance would only cover an aftermarket windshield and that they had installed many of them in Teslas. Then they twice ordered the wrong windshield and wanted us to order a third one after asking us to ask Tesla for the part number so they could get the right aftermarket one. We said no and called our insurance. The rep told us they would pay for a Tesla installed windshield and to only take it to Telsa. Honestly, I don't know where to begin. It took 3 separate visits (and Uber trips/$$) to drop my vehicle off at this Safelite location. The first visit I dropped it off and at 3pm (thinking it was the call to indicate my car was ready for pickup), received a phone call from "Michael" who shared they didn't have the proper part connected on the windshield they needed for my repair so they'd have to rebook me. Two weeks later, back again, I arrive a handful minutes late to which the guy at reception said unfortunately they'd have to rebook me bc I was late. I was confused because the 2 technicians in the back were just chatting (not doing repairs) and "Michael" had shared with me that they block off the entire day for 1 technician to do Tesla's due to their complexity so why would 10 mins late be an issue? I requested to speak to the Manager -- 25 minutes later, Michael appears (thinking he's the Manager). Michael tells me their late policy and unfortunately, they can't help me anymore (now it's 45 mins past my appt time). I was beyond frustrated. Michael said as a concession, he will give me $100 off my deductible and throw in free wipers. I felt this was as far as he could go to help but said sure and agreed to reschedule for a third time. Two additional weeks later (now over a month from my initial appointment), I arrive and the tech asks me to review the SOW & sign before leaving. No mention of the $100 off my deductible. He requested for me to write everything down and his manager Dwayne would call to discuss. Two hours later, Dwayne calls me and notifies me that Michael didn't realize but Safelite stores can no longer offer discounts off of deductibles bc of the complexities with insurance and sorry - nothing he could do. I was completely stunned. After all this.... the MANAGER is calling to just say sorry - can't help you? He had no other offers to help repair the frustration, loss of cost I endured and more. When I arrive later that afternoon to pick up my vehicle, front desk gave me my key and tells me my car is around back. I open the door and a HUGE wave of marijuana hits me in the face. That felt like a betrayal of the trust I provided these guys to repair my windshield. Also, their seat cover was also still on the driver seat along with metal trash from the repair in my cup console. What in the actual hell is going on with this location? Needed a windshield replaced. Went to safelite.com and booked an at-home appointment. Three days later, and the evening before the appointment, I got a call telling me that at-home appointments cannot be done in the District of Columbia, period, because they need open road to test the calibration. I happen to live a block from the Maryland border, so that rule is silly - if I lived a block away, I'd be equally close to those roads. But in any event, if you're going to have that rule, why would you allow at-home appointments to be made in D.C.? Extremely inconvenient and frustrating, and the pro forma apology (and what amounted to a 13% discount) did not really help. So now I have to drive 45 minutes tomorrow morning to the location to get this done, because I can't be driving this car for another week until a spot opens up at the closer location. read more

I used Safelite to replace my front windshield due to cracks on it. They put all the things I had on my windshield back on such as the EZ toll pass, my camera, rear view mirror etc. But I encountered several issues with them: 1. There was a blurry spot in my line of vision when it rained. Cleaning it and wipers didn't clear it. 2. The windshield wasn't sitting flush to the front of the car. There was a gap all around from windshield to the car without a seal. So a lot of debris would get caught on the sides. 3. The rearview mirror fell down. I wouldn't recommend this company read more

I had low expectations but needed to go to Safelite as they are the preferred contractor for Geico. The gentlemen at Safelite were professional, courteous, efficient, detailed and the location was safe and clean. I've used Safelite before and there mobile repair service has been extremely useful to me in the past. So when I had a chipped windshield, they were the natural choice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]their website made it easy to put in my info, get an "quote", and set up an appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My car was worked on in a timely fashion, and appears to have done what I asked them to do correctly (the windshield is new and has no cracks, so...not sure how else to evaluate so far). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their service was okay. No one was rude. but no one was excited to be at work that day either, which...i don't blame anyone for. It was adequate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The reason for the 2 stars is with the shady pricing. Their website says that a recalibration *MAY* be needed and could incur additional costs. Fine. I saw this, was weary of it, but...what could I do? maybe I'd get lucky and it wouldn't need it (yeah right), and if they are stating it as an additional cost...how much could it be? What I was expecting was them to need to evaluate the car or installation and then decide if recalibration was needed. But what I found was the front desk person already knew it needed to be recalibrated and how much it would cost before I even gave them my keys. And it more than doubled my "quote". Thankfully, this is done up front, so I could have walked away. But I needed a new windshield, which is what I expect they are counting on. what makes this shady is, she knew immediately that I needed the recalibration and the cost. So this should have been known at the time of my quote abad should have been included. but of course they don't want to include it because then no one would go to them. Surely the price of a recalibration is somewhat fixed. The price should also be on the website (but of course no one would choose them if it was). Any "additional costs" that is the most expensive piece should not be considered an additional cost. I'm basically paying for a recalibration with an additional cost of a windshield. So while technically they didn't lie or provide false numbers, it feels pretty intentionally obscured and having. a quote go from $410 to $930 is shady. especially if it's all or nothing. if it was an optional service I could decline, then fine. But this is required, they knew it was required when I put in my info, and they could have listed it. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. A rock hit my windshield in February. I scheduled an appointment with this Safelight for March when they said they'd have the parts. I called and confirmed ahead of my appointment and they said everything was in order. I took off work, went to the appointment, dropped my car off, and left. They confirmed to my face before I left that they had the parts. Well, an hour after I left, they called and said that they had the glass but had neglected to order the molding. So I had to come back and they said they'd have it the following week. The following week, they called and said it'd be at least 6 months until they had the molding, but that they'd call me and they'd keep my glass for me. Haven't heard anything so I called them today and they had no idea about my order and also said they had sent the glass back because "they don't hold onto things that long." I visited Safelite 3 times in the span of 2 1/2 weeks. I initially went in for a crack. I was informed that since it was on the seam of the windshield it couldn't be filled and had to be completely replaced. I was scheduled for the next day. The next day my windshield was replaced in about 2 hours and everything seemed to be fine. 2 weeks later I got into my car in a downpour and rain was pouring in from the top of my windshield. This was a Thursday and I was unable to get an appointment (despite calling) until Tuesday. I had a different technician do the repair and I was told that the windshield was completely replaced again and they checked the top seal. They also threw in new wipers which was very kind. So far so good and haven't had any leaks but my car smells musty from the water leak and since the water went right into the shifter, I am worried there is internal damage. If I could give 0 stars I would. NEVER use them as their work will not pass inspection and you will be stuck paying even more to fix what they were supposed to have "fixed" in the first place. When you call customer service they are worthless and refuse to help. Also, beware that the typical things that you should read in a terms of service or as a warning prior to a repair are actually not found in those normal locations but rather in the warranty information. I typically only read the warranty if I am attempting to use it days, weeks, months after a repair not immediately upon the repair being made and things being worse.
