I had the best experience buying my bike and all of its accessories with Kyle, Cesar, Brian, and Miguel. Each of them was helpful and patient. Brian helped me pick out the perfect bike for my size and biking preferences. Cesar helped load it into my vehicle (backseat, no less) and provided me with great instructions and tips for removing and reattaching my wheel. Miguel answered various questions throughout the entire process. this place is pretty questionable and runs off a greed mentality rather than satisfying the customer mentality. took my bike in for a simple repair and somehow needed 3 other repairs shortly after 1 day. they charged over 500 for a simple repair. I ride motorcycles and the fact these guys charge to do repairs on a bike that cost more than my italian motorcycle is disgusting. the only people I see coming in this place are people with too much money or people who dont know better, so I am hoping this reaches people to encourage them to shop around for a honest shop not looking to get the most out of their clientele. i will say again this owner is greedy and shady and puts on a good smile please beware. read more

Stay away! Avoid! Incompetent. I brought in a brand-new Schwinn beach cruiser that I bought for my 11 year-old daughter. Two days after we assembled the bike, her friend fell on the front wheel, and bent the FRONT rim. I brought Safety cycle a brand new OEM factory rim along with the bike, and asked them to put the new wheel on, and adjust the front and rear brakes. Keep in mind that I had the bike running just fine before the fender bender, including working front and rear brakes. But I wanted the brake levers to be tighter (less range of motion). So I figured since I was having Safety Cycle put the new front rim and tire on, I might as well let the 'professionals' adjust the brakes better than I had them. Three days after I dropped the bike off, they left me a message saying the design quality of the bike model was so poor that they simply could not adjust the REAR brakes! I went into the shop and told them how ridiculous that was -- because I had already had the front and rear brakes working! We all agreed that there was no damage to the bike -- other than the front rim. But Safety Cycle just said that I needed to start all over with a higher quality bike! This is a brand new Schwinn $379 dollar recreational bike for an 11 year-old. -- and Safety Cycle is saying throw it in the trash -- because they can't figure out how to adjust the brakes? Obviously I knew this was absurd, and I took the bike -- the same day -- to a bike shop in Old Torrance. This shop had the bike ready the very next day. Replaced the front wheel, and adjusted the front and rear brakes -- just like you would expect a professional bike shop to do. No problems. He even trimmed the brake cables so they weren't so floppy. Truthfully, Safety Cycle should be embarrassed by this. Don't go to Safety Cycle. Look up the shop in Old Torrance (which I won't name here so they don't have an excuse to remove my review). read more

Very appreciative of the quick turnaround for the flat, as well as the friendly, local service. But $42 for changing out an e-bike tube (including $20 labor)? Pretty steep for maintenance needing to occur with some regularity, especially keeping in mind the same work had been done four weeks ago at the same shop for $10 less. After quite a few years neglecting my bike I noticed it was making a lot of little noises and it seemed to become a little harder to ride around. Left it at the Torrance Safety Cycle Store and I was pleasantly surprised when I picked it up as it was like a new bike. The awesome guys at safety cycle exceded my expectatiin once again. This time however is my latest project completed, 2019 specialized allez sprint deep custom, dura ace, sworks level build. By now the guys over there knows what kind of rider i am and know what is expected of me and they did not dissappoint. They steered me in the right direction on every wrong turn ive made on this build. Frame was bought. Custom painted by a reputable referral they gave me. Black and gold was the theme. Shout out to Brandon for the paint referral. Finishing kit and groupset came quick. And big props to miguel (master mechanic) for an impressive build and recommendation for what to put on this bike. The final product was the result of the collective minds in this shop. Blew my mind. The attention to details was superb. Gold cable ends to match the bike..who does that? These guys do! They helped me source out hard to find parts as well. The entire custom build process was pleasant. I dont go anywhere else for my bike needs. One stop shop. I had my Cannondale Six Carbon serviced here and the service was awesome. I had abused it a bit, and had even done some of my own maintenance. I thought I was doing a great job until I got the thing back from them. It now runs like new, and is gorgeous. I had a mid-level tune up done, and they replaced one of the shift cables that had corrosion as part of the service. The price was right, but the service was better. They were all super nice, and not pushy. I am a customer for life with them. read more

I don't know why he lied to me, but he did. And then he walked away from me and went back to his desk to work on paperwork. This place is the worst ever!! Brought my sons Sondors Electric bike in for a rear tire replacement and left with the bike not working at all. They obviously did something to the bike and now we have to take it somewhere else to fix what they messed up. They said "We don't know if it was working when you brought it in. Came to this bike shop a few times. First time I came to this shop for a bike, second time I came to buy parts, third time I came would be the last time coming. Let me give the whole run down on why. First time I came to buy a bike and the owner seemed to be happy to help since he was going to make a sale (obviously). Second time I came I needed a part for my bike and owner again was assisting me. I asked a question and his response was such a sarcastic answer that I wanted to just leave. He made me feel like I have no knowledge about bikes or what I was doing or wanting to be done to my bike. I needed a part and a second part wasn't available so I came here to buy it and when I asked him if they had it in stock he said "your part didn't come with it? It should come with both? Where did you buy it? From a guy who stole it? Or did you steal it?". Third time I called ahead of time (4:30pm) to get work done to my bike and they said sure but we close at (6:30pm). So I called (5:00pm) to let them know I was on my way after loading up my bike and a different person answers saying they don't accept walk ins after (5pm). So I come the day after and the owner (Kyle) once again assist me. I tell him what I needed and that we spoke about the day before and his response was that he wouldn't be able to do it that day or the next and will have it done in 4 days. The job that needed to be done was so small from what he said the first time we spoke on the phone "it would take 30minutes tops". So we went from 30 minutes tops to 4 days... strike 1, strike 2, strike 3, YOURE OUT! Definitely can say I will never return here for anything. read more

I bought my bike from this store a few months ago. The owner/manager told me to bring the bike in for a free checkup when I've ridden 1400 miles. I brought it in midday on Saturday October 9th. He said it would take a couple of days. So I called on Tuesday October 12th. The worker that answered the phone said that it needed a tuneup and that it would be another 5 days and would cost $60. I assumed it was necessary so I said ok. I didn't hear anything from them so I called on Monday October 19th. The owner/manager? answered and said that it would take another week and would cost $90. I asked him what the "tuneup" entailed and he said cleaning the bike and gears. He said they had not done any work on it yet. He claims that he called me but I didn't have any voicemail or missed call from them. I have them in my phone list so it would have shown up. I didn't receive any calls from Torrance during this time period. I don't think I have ever posted any negative reviews on Yelp except possibly a bad restaurant review. I have never experienced anything this bad. I used to take my other bike to a different shop that is totally honest and professional. I'll be going back to them for all of my biking needs now. read more

I received a recall notice from a bike shop where I purchased a Cannondale Badboy. I didn't like the service there so I called Safety Cycle to see if they could help me. They said they could handle it for me. I took my bike in and they wrote me a service ticket. They told me it would take a while because they would need to wait for Cannondale to ship them the part. After researching my recall, they called me and said my bike was ready for pick up. It had only been a couple of days. Turns out that my bike wasn't being recalled. I recently bought a used bike & brought it here to get everything serviced and checked out. I installed a part on my bike wrong and Miguel, the head bike mechanic, saved the day and was able to fix my bike without having to buy new parts! I received such a horrible service at this place, I made a mistake and mentioned beforehand that I am new to mountain biking to them, I asked them to do maintenance on the bike to make sure everything is going ok because I am going on a trail later on today and wanted to replace my back tire.. after all said and done and spending well over 120$ on stuff that they recommended, I got home to discover that they Kinda installed things wrong.. how do you not make sure that the wheel is installed right?? I told them I'm going on a trail..the brakes were making some weird noises that weren't there before I took the bike to them. So with the help of my bother I discovered that they installed it wrong. I also bought tubes that they recommended.. mind you they charged me labor for both of the tires. And didn't even balance the wheels.. I spent well over 120$ and they didn't even do that!! Such a horrible experience. What if I went on a trail and hurt myself because of them. I'm definitely not going there again and would recommend everyone to stay clear of this horrible place Oh and I called them back asking them for some clarifications on why they would charge me labor and not balance the wheel even though I bought new tires and tubes. They took care of everything in a timely fashion. I wasn't in a hurry, yet they repaired it quickly anyway. I received phone call updates throughout the process.
