I've bought two bicycles from this place. One 12 inch specialized bike for my kid when she was 3 yr old and a few years later bought a different 20 inch bike since she outgrew her old one. Each time i wanted a legit, safe bike for her. And this place offers reasonably priced bikes with good service. The guys here are nice and helpful too. I came in on a whim to look at bikes a few months ago since everywhere seemed to be sold out of reasonably priced bikes during covid. They happened to have a Cannondale gravel bike which was a bit over my budget but it felt great when I test drove it. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable so eventually I was persuaded to buy it. I left thinking they convinced me to buy the bike just for a sale but the truth is that the bike was a great fit for me and my needs as a beginner long distance cyclist. I definitely recommend checking this place out for great, honest service. I also recommend that if you can afford it, to spend the extra money on a bike that's going to be best for you. In my experience, cheap bikes don't last very long and you end up spending more in the long run. read more

I've been to almost every bike in Los Angeles over the last 30 years. This is by far the most awesome shop in the area. They have an amazing variety of products and are well stocked. I was so lucky to come across them after I broke a rear wheel spoke on my Giant SLR 0 today. They found this unusual spoke for me in 2 minutes! They bent over backwards to get me back on my bike to get home before dark and were so friendly and reasonable! I can't wait to go back and pick up some cool stuff they had throughout the shop. Reviewing based on the customer service and overall helpfulness. Came in to ask what kind of tune up I needed and the first visit was successful as far as feeling comfortable with having them do the work. However, upon pick up I had a couple crank boots/protectors that I was hoping to get assistance in putting on. The first rep pretty much just ignored my ask and just brought me to my bike. I asked a second rep (who was friendly) upon checkout if they could then just at the very least give me a tool to use but he said I can just do it at home. Would've taken them 5 minutes to do or 1 minute to give me a tool and show they actually want to help. Instead, they now lose a customer. And not to mention, they adjusted height of rear seat / suspension without me asking for that. read more

Took my Road Bike here after I was having trouble with my shifting on the rear derailleur. Normally I can work on my bike but something about internally routed bikes I won't mess with called them after my ride and they answered all my questions and told me to go ahead and bring the bike in. Took it in at 3pm on a Wednesday and had them also cut my steerer tube. Walking into the shop and seeing everything they carry they seem well stocked and organized always someone available to help you out. Left my bike there and I honestly expected to hear back Monday, but I got a call on Thursday at around 4pm asking me what they were gonna work on and if I was ok with that "of course whatever gets my back and riding" and by 5pm I was able to pick up my bike I hardly do reviews but there attention to detail and pricing on services make this shop an amazing bike shop will definitely be coming here more often read more

I don't usually write reviews but I had such a terrible experience I felt that everyone should know. Went in yesterday as I have been searching for a bike (switching from MB to Road bike) and potentially purchasing shoes and pedals for my MB which I will eventually switch to Road bike. Like everywhere else they don't have options so I started asking the employee questions. He clearly didn't want to spend time with me (REI employee spent 35 minutes talking with me). When I asked if he would show me the shoes and help me with choices he pointed to the shoe section and said they are over there and walked away. I simply walked out of the store and I will never purchase anything from this store. read more

Avoid this place unless you want to be treated like crap and ripped off. Back story, I had some work done, when i dropped off the bike, the owner explained all of the charges and told me the cost 3 different times. When i went and picked up the bike, the total was $60 more than what I was told (no, they didnt do anything extra) when i confronted the owner about this, he was rude and dismissive. I paid them, left with my bike and got home to find out they didnt even do everything they said they did. Also, the items they sell in the store are almost double what they cost online or in other stores. This place is a joke. read more

My second visit to the bike shop. Last Saturday I dropped by at the bike shop needing to fix my bikes so I could take my kids out. The guy at the front desk probably the owner was nice and helpful and sold me the things I needed and put me in touch with service folks. Service guys probably hated their jobs were not nice and said they could do only half of what the sales guy promised. I was impressed by sales guy so I left with Whatever they did. Today (second visit) called the office and asked if they could hook up a child carrier and the sales guy probably the owner said Come in in we will fix it right away. So I came to the store excited and as soon as the service guy saw me asked me what I wanted and when I told him he said I have a lot of work to do and I have to leave it in the store as I had opened the child carrier. I was upset and asked him that I was asked to come in by the guy at the front desk. He said I did not answer the phone so it is not his responsibility. Bottom Line: Sales guy is too smooth and service guy sucks. read more

Went in on a Wednesday around 4pm with the intention of buying a single geared bike. Been shopping around for sometime now and was ready to make a buying decision. So I walk in and the two guys at the front desk ask if I need anything and when I start asking questions they are giving me short responses and they just didn't have that customer service you're looking for when making a big purchase. Long story short they weren't helpful at all. Maybe because I was wearing sweatpants (my day off) they didn't take me seriously but the MORAL of the story is don't judge based on appearance. This is our local bike shop. Won't go anywhere else. Brandon is really helpful. I forgot the mechanic's name (Miguel maybe?), but he's unbelievably skilled and fast. He is really talented. Not sure who the owner is, but between the three of these guys, they take care of you. I was sorry to read of George H.'s bad experience. I do see his point about it being expensive. The bike shops all over the south bay are pricey and it costs a fair amount to buy, keep and maintain a bike. I've had good experience with the guys though and we'll keep coming back for our gear. Brandon greeted me with a smile and asked a few great questions to narrow it down to a few choices. He was awesome at explaining the differences between cannondale and specialized bikes, and then explaining the differences between each model. He was honest, telling me what I would/ wouldn't need-- he had me ride a few bikes and was 100% right on with everything he said. I have been in the store twice, and have no desire to return - they assume every customer is a biking novice and are unable to understand that some customers already know what they need. It started when I first entered the store. Obviously the manager requires every employee to yell out "let me know if you have any questions" to every single customer. I was hit up 3 times in my first visit. I felt like I was at a car dealership. When I looked at their chain lubes, the employee seemed to want to make the selection for me. I had to wave him off so I could see what they had. So far these are fairly trivial issues that might disappear if I were to become a regular customer so they knew me better. However, when I asked if they carried Park bike stands, they tried to upsell me to a more expensive model with the suggestion that the basic Park bike stand was not sturdy enough. Well, I already have a basic Park stand and know it is more sturdy than I will ever need - I just need a second. In fact, I could probably get by with a non-Park unit for $200 less than the one they wanted to sell, and $100 less than the base unit. I much prefer the feel of other bike stores where the help is less intrusive (although just as thorough), the atmosphere is less forced, and the suggested products are selected AFTER determining my needs rather than suspiciously by the amount of store profit. These complaints may not apply to new bike riders, who will probably appreciate the thorough guidance. They probably also do not apply to people who enjoy lengthy conversations. So the score is bumped up one notch. read more

Came for a front shifter replacement, they replaced it excellently and also tuned the front derailleur and redid the bar tape resulting in a bike that was immediately ready to ride without me having to do anything else. What a great experience with GREAT PEOPLE and GREAT ATTITUDES!!!! For perspective, I'm a very avid and knowledgeable biker, mountain, road, commuter, pedal and e-bike, so I feel I've met and dealt with a lot of bike folks. I called to see if they had a particular bike that showed on the Specialized national website, and they did, but it was at their LA Store, vs. their Torrance store. I talked to a nice fellow who said they'd go get it from their LA store the next day, set it up, and I could get it the next day. I gave a deposit, they called the next day (as promised), and went to get it. I dealt with a nice fellow on the phone, I forgot his name, but he was really great and started the process. I was passed to Kyle one of the owners who took my deposit. I went over to get my new bike - a very nice Specialized Carbon Commuter. I dealt with Kyle who could not have been more nice and helpful. He helped me with a bunch of accessories, and helped educate me on some gear and chain questions, fit the bike to me, and truly made me feel like a VIP. I know with Covid and Supply Chain issues, bikes are hard to come by, but I found the one I wanted, and again, they could not have been nicer or more helpful. The saying is true, "all things being equal, it's the PEOPLE that make the difference" - and they just happen to have good brands, good service, and REALLY GREAT PEOPLE!!!! I just moved to the area and needed someplace for quick fixes and adjustments as I now live 40 miles from where I bought my bike where I have lifetime tuneups and adjustments included. I stumbled onto Safety Cycle when I saw a "Specialized Dealer" sign in the window. After reading the reviews on Yelp it sounded like they would be a reasonable place for service. I just picked up my bike and I'm pleased with the service. I will not hesitate to return for further service in the future. read more

this place is pretty questionable and runs off a greed mentality rather than satisfying the customer mentality. took my bike in for a simple repair and somehow needed 3 other repairs shortly after 1 day. they charged over 500 for a simple repair. I ride motorcycles and the fact these guys charge to do repairs on a bike that cost more than my italian motorcycle is disgusting. the only people I see coming in this place are people with too much money or people who dont know better, so I am hoping this reaches people to encourage them to shop around for a honest shop not looking to get the most out of their clientele. i will say again this owner is greedy and shady and puts on a good smile please beware. read more

I have a double jogging stroller which is a life saver when trying to exercise and jog with two children. One of my tires kept getting low and finally I couldn't pump it up anymore. I Googled how to fix a jogging stroller tire because I wasn't sure who could fix it for me. Luckily, I looked on Yelp before attempting to fix it myself and found Safety Cycle. I called them up asked if they fixed strollers and they said they fix any and all tires. They said I could come right in, which I did, and they immediately fixed the tire and even pumped up my other tires which I hadn't come in for. I will definitely be coming back again for any bike or stroller related issue. I love this shop! read more
