They remodeled the store recently and hired more staff so I'm glad to say they have definitely improved.

This is the grocery store that I do the majority of my shopping. It's just down the street, they have a wide selection, and everything always looks good! My most recent experience showed me that the employees go above and beyond. I was looking for some fresh fruit, and a guy in the produce section showed me where the hard-to-find cantaloupes were (okay, I was just oblivious). He showed me how to pick out a ripe one and actually tracked me down later to bring me an even better one! To up even that, he advised me to wait on buying cherries since they would go on sale within the next day or two. Love, love, love this store! Yummy food, helpful employees. I am not sure just what is happening to the Safeways in Kirkland. this one in particular. there are so many people who come here that live in the vicinity and yet the store is a disgrace. very slow lines and not enough checkers it doesn't matter what time you come. I moved to this area from Juanita about a year ago and it has not gotten any better. only worse. sometimes when the traffic isn t so bad I will purposely drive to the one in Juanita though that seems to be going downhill as well. not all of us have the $$ to shop at met market or pic and QFC just doesn't have enough of a selection. read more

If you enjoy being ignored, treated as a nuisance, or generally share the same world view as Oscar the Grouch, then this is the place for you. If you enjoy being treated like a human, it's best to venture to the Juanita Safeway, or any of the other fine grocery brands in Kirkland. The staff at this location make going through TSA checkpoints feel like a stay at the Ritz Carlton. They are collectively, by far, the rudest people I've had the displeasure of dealing with. Due to proximity to my home I shopped at this location far too many times, only to experience consistent negativity from the checkers and department workers. They gossip with each other about how much they hate their jobs or how someone "messed up the schedule" all while never greeting you, never responding to you when you ask questions, and angrily snapping demands at you (for example, I've been yelled at for assisting an old lady who asked for help getting lotto tickets because my cart was not flush with the wall, for not putting my shopping bags in front of all of my other grocery items, for not taking my items out of the small basket, etc etc). I've seen other customers get aggravated or upset in line ahead of me, only to hear the checker laugh at them or complain about them once it's my turn. They're just so unprofessional and unhappy, and they can't wait to prove it to you. Stay away! read more

This review is specifically for the pharmacy. Terrible service. My regular drugstore was out of my medication so I had it filled at Safeway. They sent me to the wrong location, where I stood in like for over 30 minutes. Once I got to the front they were very rude and told me to go across town to another Safeway. When I got there, I waited another 30 minutes. I gave the pharmacist my insurance information and was told that it wasn't accepted (which wasn't true) and she acted like I was an idiot. Then after arguing with her for 15 minutes, she realized she entered my card number incorrectly and in-fact they do take my insurance. I am not a fan of my current pharmacy and I am in the market for a new one - they missed a prime opportunity to get a new customer and have me transfer all of my prescriptions. read more

I wish there is zero star. 1 star is too good for them. I inserted 1 dollar in the lottery vending machine but it did not work. A young girl from customer service didn't wish to refund the dollar and told me it's common sense that after 8 the vending machine is off. I said it's not common sense as the light is still on and another gentle man just walked here and tried to use that. It's been quite a hassle. Though it's not a big deal, i really felt disappointed about how their customer service is, even for such a small $1 and it's their apparent fault. read more

Do Not Shop Here! This store appears to be quite convenient, but appearances can be deceiving. Ever since a fairly recent change in management, their staffing practices have become atrocious. There are NEVER enough checkstands open, typically only 1. I appreciate their efforts to cap pricing by limiting staffing costs, but their efforts have impacted customer service. Although we have frequented this store for over a decade, today was the last time. read more

No problem with the store in general, but don't go anywhere near their sushi. I bought some today and had to throw most of it away. The rice had congealed into a rock solid lump and the contents had no taste at all, making me wonder if it had gone bad. I had made the mistake of getting sushi there once before but decided to give them another chance. Bad idea. read more

It's convenient and open 24 hours. Item selection and prices are pretty good. The pharmacy area has been updated and looks much nicer now. My main gripe is that I regularly find expired items in their inventory, and once I didn't notice until I got home. So check the dates on everything if you shop here. read more

Soooo slow at the checkouts. It doesn't seem to matter that I want to give them money or whch checker you have. And, frequently inaccurate. I try not use this store unlass absolutely necessary. I always leave fed up and frustrated having squandered part of my life in a slow moving line. read more

I shopped here for a long time, but they recently brought in a new manager Drew Novak, who kicked me out because another customer complained about my footwear. Unless you would like to be kicked out of the store for violating their "dress code" I recommend shopping at Fred Meyer, Apple, Trader Joe, PCC or some other store. None of them have any issues with my footwear or other apparel. read more

Wouldn't recommend buying firewood here. It's very damp and doesn't burn well at all. Will take my last 2 bundles back.

This store is nice however the pharmacy staff is not that great. The Asian girl in the pharmacy dept. is rude and unfriendly.

This place is run by teenagers and you can tell. They have NOTHING stocked. I came here for 11 items and they were out of 8 of them. And they were normal everyday items like bread and cheese. Their entire bread section had maybe 3 loaves on the shelf, I am not kidding. There was a spill in one isle that sat for the entire duration that I was in the store and they knew about it because the "caution" signs were out. So glad I don't live in Kirkland and that this is not my store. This takes the award for worst grocery store for me. read more

I used to live across the street from here. How is this my first check in. Anywho, great Safeway. Clean. Organized. Gots movies.

Typical Safeway experience... overpriced on almost everything. The thing that gets me is when I go to this store where they are supposed to have helpful staff and people to bag your food (that's why they charge extra isn't it?) WHY do they have checkers that throw your food around like it's unbreakable and half the time they don't even have baggers to help bag your food??? Honestly, I'd almost rather bag my own food since the baggers they do have mostly all suck and squish foods, bag hot items next to cold ones, etc. etc. Uggg, just yesterday I went to this store and watched a cashier throw my tomatoes around like they were soup cans... I know they are trying to be fast but I pick out fruits and veggies that don't have bruises on them so I don't need the cashier beating the crap out of them when I'm checking out. One thing I did appreciate the other day was the way the employees reacted to a scary looking guy walking around the parking lot. I was parked, sitting in my car finalizing my shopping list when I noticed this ragged looking guy pulling a makeshift cart thing around the Safeway parking lot. He was stopping people, literally cornering them in between cars and standing in front of their open doors when they were getting ready to leave so they couldn't close their car doors asking them for money. One guy with his wife and kid actually looked scared and after talking to the guy for a minute he pulled out his wallet and handed him some cash. I decided I didn't want to risk being corned by the jerk so I waited until he started walking away from the section of the parking lot I was in and I started backing my car out of my spot. Right when I put my car in reverse I noticed several Safeway employees walk out of the store to confront the guy. As soon as the guy saw them coming he high tailed it out of the parking lot and I saw him walk to the Walgreens and stop. The Safeway employees stood there and watched him until he turned and walked away. After that I decided it was safe to exit my car and shop. So even though I bashed the Safeway cashiers and baggers, I appreciate the other staff that keeps the parking lot free of scary jerks who try and scare people into giving them money. read more

I've been here a couple times and I like this location. The other day I was here and the cashier was very friendly and he did just fine.

I love this grocery store, and you should too. They have much better specials than either the nearby QFC, PCC or MetroMarket. I think the aisles are wider than other grocery stores in the area. After shopping at a really crowded grocery store the last few months, I really appreciated the extra-wide aisles on my most recent visit. The produce selection here is great. Lots of organic options. The construction is nice and modern; I guess most of the grocery stores in the area are pretty modern - but compared to grocery stores in the Southend this one is stellar. Finally, the cashiers here are super sweet. They'll run and get extra items for you, I've never had a problem with baggers like other people have said, and they always say "Thank you Mrs. Forschler". This is the best grocery store for value, selection and ease of shopping within five-miles. read more

This Safeway is close to my home. I shop there frequently. The store is clean and bright. The employees are polite. Lately however, the shelves are bare. For example, it is not unusual to find the frozen vegetable section with entire shelves empty. I keep thinking "are they closing this store?". It's a shame I have to go somewhere else to buy everything I need because Safeway is out of basic staples. read more

It's like every Safeway pharmacy.....SLOW! they tell you 15 minutes every time and it's always 30 or more. It's a ploy to get you to buy more stuff you don't need. I just want my prescription and be gone!!! read more

I usually drop by in the morning before work to grab a breakfast burrito. The staff in the deli always seem so bothered and annoyed when you get to the counter to place your order. There is a woman who is always there and this other man and they both always seem to have attitude and are never friendly. One time I waited a good 10 mins for her to finish up making sandwhiches because she wanted to get that done before even helping me. This is probably the worst Safeway I've gone to. If it wasn't for their amazing breakfast burritos I wouldn't ever bother coming in. read more

I hardly go to this store and now I won't go to any place associated with them. While talking on my phone while leaving rhe store complaining about the power going out an associate thought I was stating something to her called me back and proceeded to tell me that "yeah that sucks" when I proceeded to tell her I wasn't talking to her she got an attitude with me. Between this Safeway and the Albertsons they bought out by my job their customer service sucks. I will never step foot in another one of their establishments. read more

I work across the street and come here majority of my days for lunch. I love the pizza sticks at the Safeway by my house but here they suck. The whole deli sucks really. Ordered pizza sticks one time they were rock hard. When in again for lunch thinking it would be better and the lady skipped over me asked what I wanted I told her she then proceeded to get the guy behind me his food while I stood there waiting.. she goes oh sorry thought she was getting your order. Who the lady checking people out?! It's just very annoying like I get if your busy it's hard but you straight up looked at me then helped the people behind me 3 times. read more

Belma is an absolute rock star pharmacist!!!She got us out of a tough situation last year when Walgreens never informed us they ran out of our maintenance medication and we were slated to fly out of state the next day. We will forever be grateful...we left Walgreens in a hurry after this was done *twice* to us and now won't do our pharmacy business anywhere else! As i was leaving safeway this morning with a 12 pack of soda, one of the male stockers accused me of stealing it, I told them that I did pay for and if they wanted to see my receipt. after he went back in and resumed his work, I went back in and returned the soda. I'm NOT returning to this safeway because of this rude stocker. read more

Customer service is terrible. I keep calling about an application I filled out, the girl who works at customer service sounds like she hates her job and doesn't even tell you she is putting you on hold. 2nd, the hiring manager keeps claiming she can't find my application in the system even though I called recruiting services and HR and they see it clearly in there. I left her 3 messages and she didn't call me back. I talked to her yesterday she said she would call back, but she didn't. Talked to her this morning and she says she will call me back but I doubt she will. Wish they would hire me I could definitely provide better customer service than the two of them combined. read more

What a customer service let down after shopping at the downtown Bellevue Safeway for years. This Kirkland Safeway doesn't train their checkers to speak to the customer. They don't offer to assist with carry out. I think I'll drive to Bellevue!! read more

To be completely honest I have never gone to a grocery store that frustrates me more. I use to go in and get a cart but now it's only because it's close so I get a basket when I don't want to drive further for a few things. I drive further for the majority of my groceries where the store obviously has management overseeing what goes on in their store. I was beginning to believe Safeway had NO management. I met one of the managers tonight and now know why the store is in the situation it is. He had no clue how to communicate with me. He wouldn't have a clue how to manage other people and make sure they are doing their job. Every time I go in there, there are no baskets at the door. The guy tells me there should be some at the other door. I found "one" after having to go and find one! Luckily, I didn't need dairy because I get tired of having to go through their expired products for them because they certainly don't do it! I've talked with other customers who are just as frustrated as me. One day I was looking for plastic bags in the vegetable department and couldn't find any. I asked the guy working in this department and he sent me across the store to get one and continued to do what he was doing. He made no effort to fill up the bags. I noticed at Fred Meyer there is always a manager watching the cashiers and making sure he's there to help people if there is the need. What a concept! You can also find people throughout the store to help you. Safeway's prices are higher and they don't care if the people are doing their job. Just wait until the two new malls open, they will be crying for business.... read more

Great Store! I have been a customer of the Rosehill Safeway since I moved to the area in 1995, and have been a loyal customer because of the prices, as well as the people who work at the store. Although I have seen some employees come and go, I am still amazed at how many still remember seeing my daughter and I shop at the store over the years, and how they always take the time to stop and chat. Although that might not be important to some, in this day and age of on the go and online, it is nice to have that personalized service that only a store that knows you can provide, and Safeway does this very well. I have also been pleased with the Pharmacy, and find many of their prices comparable to that of Costco, which is always a big plus. Again, I feel comfortable talking to the staff, and know that I will always get great advice. Although I sometimes stop into Fred Meyer and QFC, the Rosehill Safeway will be my grocer of choice, as long as I live in the area. read more
