That feeling that your some sort of inconvenience is a really crappy feeling! I stopped by to get couple things that I have been craving. Today my craving got so out of hand that instead of going to bed I drove up to Safeway. Everything was going well up until I got to the register. The cashiers name was Tatyana. So I put in my awards number and she tells me that's not the correct one. I told her I had another number that could be the right one. She proceeded to tell me she can input the number instead. I provided her with the number and she inputs it in the register. (Sweet it went through.) So I asked her what name is it showing. She gave me another name that wasn't my name so I told her no that's not me. My husband then says let's use mine. (At this point 1 customer stands behind us in line. Keep in mind no one was behind us so it wasn't like we were holding up a line. The store was empty. Doesn't surprise me since it's around 8:00 PM.) Tatyana says in a annoyed voice "oh well I have to rescan everything again." I told her "ok that's fine." It was 4 things! 3 juices and 1 bag of chips. So it's not like it was a whole grocery cart! My husband since he saw the face and voice she made he said "ok no that's fine." I then said "No scan them again because I want to use my gas points." Once again Tatyana says " I'll have to scan all the items again." I once again said "ok that's fine." The face Tatyana made was like I was some sort of inconvenience. This went back and forth for couple more times.!Now I understand if the line was backed up and there was a lot of traffic, but really how difficult is it to rescan the items. A good customer service representative response would of said something along the lines of "Actually it's ok it's not a problem we can rescan them." Honestly it took longer my husband trying to convince me not to have Tatyana scan the items again and all because he didn't want to inconvenience her. (As he later told me in the car) Side note I work with customers and I know I'm getting paid to do a job and that is to provide the customer an exceptional experience. Also I want to add that I actually had a 5 stars review save on draft that I have to admit that I forgot about. The only good thing about this Safeway is the sushi couple that make the sushi. They are so sweet and have great customer service. Also they make some pretty good sushi to get rid of those sushi cravings. Honestly I won't be back even for sushi. I'm not trying to dramatize, but it's a really crappy feeling when you feel un welcomed and like your some sort of inconvenience. Anyway I'm embarrassed to say that I felt so crappy that as I drove home I was crying. Call it sensitive, hormones, or whatever but no one should have to feel that way after going shopping at a food grocery store or anywhere. read more

We call location "Little Safeway" Has every thing I need and I don't need to walk acres of floor to find find the foods I want. Staff is the friendliest in Phoenix. read more

I'm so bummed after all that remodeling, the meat department is still really small, forcing me to go to the ghetto frys instead.

There is nothing special about this store. It is long overdue for an updating in the inside. It is an old ABCO store that we really loved. Most of the other Safeway stores in the 5-10 mile area have been completely renovated. This store has not been touched in the 25 years that we have been living in the area. Also, much more expensive than Fry's Food and Drug. Can you just add a small coffee shop or eat in deli? read more

Don't even bother coming to this Safeway location in the evening. The night supervisor (Holly?) is the most unpleasant and least helpful person there is. She should not be a supervisor, given her lack of customer service skills. The cashiers and everyone else in the store (esp. in the bakery section) are so sweet and helpful. read more

Dirty, very low inventory/limited selection of meats, fish & produce, this store really feels ghetto.

Went in late night disappointed with someone else in the strip mall. So I went to the service counter in the deli area and asked for 2 chicken breast. The women with a head band suggested I get the 8 piece as the price was about the same (actually a savings to me:) so I agreed. She was very friendly and I was appreciative of her suggestion. Then I bought potato salad, didn't come for it but another suggestion that I enjoyed once I was home. Thank you, wish I would have looked at her name. I'm disappointed nearly every time I go here. Store is just too small. Variety sucks, prices suck. Why does it have to be so close??

I LOVE my neighborhood Safeway. Its not one of the big superstores but I can always count on a friendly, helpful staff. My JustforYou coupons really help on savings. My last trip in (I think I live there) I was looking for a 20 lb. turkey. Sean, one of the managers, can always tell when I look perplexed. He told me that they normally don't stock their frozen turkeys till November. With the Jewish holidays being very early this year, I needed it soon. He told me to check back on my next visit. Sure enough, they came walking up with a beautiful 20 lb. Safeway turkey for me. Now that is customer service! Thanks again, Sean. Now, I need gefilte fish! read more

Nothing super special about this store. Deli's not great. This store has nice wide aisles (which you don't appreciate until you go to a store which doesn't have them). It's reasonably clean. I used to get my drugs here at the pharmacy, and the techs there were always friendly and great at remembering my name. It rarely felt like a hassle dealing with them like it did at some other pharmacies. read more

This store is literally down the street from me so I go every single day. The staff is awesome ! They are always willing to help and guide you in the right direction .. Not that I need much direction. I do wish they had a larger seafood selection though .. I love Salmon and rarely see it .. And normally will have to make a trip to frys which isn't my fav thing to do. Everything is always neat and labeled correctly and did I mention that the Staff is amazing !!!! read more

I guess the only real scale for grocery stores is section, Mr cleanliness , speed and store decor/area. Prices are going to pretty much the same . Section : pretty normal but no sweet potatoes :( . its pretty clean no compliments. Speed , no self check out and there are only few lanes . store is small old and in a popular area so it's busy which conflicts with having a fee lanes. I usually drive to the one on 7ave instead newer and faster. read more

Currently doing some remodeling so parking is difficult and shopping there is not as quick - I am looking forward to it being done so this location can become my favorite local grocery store again! Staff are friendly and accommodating. In particular, everyone in the Pharmacy that I have encountered over the past 3 years have been really wonderful. I have seen Pharmacy staff dealing with some difficult customers and they have always been patient and helpful. read more

Very clean. Very friendly, helpful employees! I broke my leg and was on crutches earlier this summer. Several employees offered, on more than one occasion, to assist me with pushing my cart and completing my shopping. I really enjoy shopping here. Thank you. read more

ZERO STARS! (had to put one to post review) COMPLETE FAIL! It's my boss' birthday, and I always go all-out because she's awesome, so I stopped at this Safeway to get a ton of balloons. No one in the Floral Department, so after waiting for 5 minutes to see if anyone would show, I asked the only cashier how to receive help in Floral. She didn't even answer, the gentleman bagging the groceries said they would call for someone. After waiting 5-10 minutes, I asked someone in the small office next to Floral if someone would please call for customer service, she said they already had, to which I replied that no help had arrived. She called again. Waited another 7 - 10 minutes, then almost purchased a bouquet instead of balloons, but then wouldn't I be reinforcing their horrible customer service practice? Put the bouquet back and left! Thanks for making me late to work with NO balloons! read more

I use the store and pharmacy often. I dropped off a prescription and had to wait about 15 minutes. They are great. Clarence and Juan are the pharmacists and every one knew their name. These are the most pleasant people and will help with anything. Took all my prescriptions in and asked them to review them and let me know if I should be taking all since I have some from different stores. These guys are happy you are there and so friendly. Now to the store. If there are lines they get more cashiers. Often I see Mike the manager on the register helping if they are busy, Everyone is friendly and will continue using this store. read more

I called my favorite , friendly, local Safeway Store tonight 8/23/14 at approx 8:PM and reported my formal complaint to the store manager on duty(who said his name was Al) that my wife who was purchasing groceries observed a white male mid to late forties, 6-6.3 ft tall dressed in a black tee shirt and black shorts standing outside the store as she entered . When she exited with her grocery cart she was approached by this same white male who approached her "Panhandling " by asking her for money. When he saw me pull the car up to where she was standing he quickly went into the store. Shortly after arriving home I called the store manager and told him what we observed and reminded him that his customers should not have to be subjected to being solicited in his parking lot when they visit his store and he agreed. I want to compliment Al for his empathy regarding our experience. Also, I appreciated Al's apologetic tone reflecting his concern and we look forward to seeing tangible evidence of his promise to investigate and correct what I suspect has been an ongoing problem before our next weekly visit. read more

I do shop at this store often due to the convenience, But as others have shared, it is not my main choice for all my shopping. It's like every other time I go in there, I have to keep an eye on the cashiers due to them mis-charging for this or that and when you point it out, they act like it's a problem or like there's something wrong with you. But like I say, for convenience purposes only... I do pick up a few things from there, The other thing I feel, is they Need a total store upgrade/renovation! It's an Old store. read more

This store us the worst of the Safeway chain. Impersonal service, poor selection and a really poor remodel. The interior lighting is distracting; high glare. The "new" parking lot is the roughest asphalt paving I have seen. Overall terrible. And I have been shopping here for 29 years. Bell Road Safeway is much better. read more

Terrible customer service all the time. The liquor department manager who is at the counter in the morning takes a very long time for simple transactions. She frequently takes a long time and completely ignores the next person in line, not explaining what's happening, or acknowledging them. They don't open up other registers, they are not helpful when you ask for things. I hate having to go to this store. read more

I've been coming here for years- while it was still ABCO before the store became a Safeway. It has turned into a dive that I will no longer return to. The pharmacy is a disaster- let me start off with this little gem of an experience. I have a unique last name. A few months ago, a pharmacist gave my mother MY prescription medication while she was trying to pick hers up. We are both adults and pick up our own medication. This NEVER should have happened. This was private medication that one doesn't exactly like their mother being aware of. YIKES!!! My mom called me "Dear, I have some of your medication, I was trying to pick up my cholesterol pill and got yours instead". Can we say HIPPA violation?? What an awkward situation! The pharmacist looked like he was born in the 1800's, so I'm sure the error involved reading and eyesight- double yikes!! Store is bad overall. Flooring is old and dirty, produce is always poorly displayed and old. Selection is bad. I bought several expired dairy items before I finally started going to the Safeway on bell rd or Fry's on hatcher. Isn't it sad that the Fry's on hatcher would be better than this store?? read more
