Great location and se easy to pull in off camelback. They added an adorable spacious Starbucks inside w some cozy seating. There's no outlets tho so don't plan to hang out long if you need power. The whole store is a bit cold, so bring a jacket if you plan to sit and chat a bit in Starbucks! I always get snacks in the great deli they have. I have tried twice to do a DoorDash pickup from 'Safeway Deli' that is listed as an available vendor in the app. You can place the order; apply the $10 chase monthly benefit and you even get a Confirmation text (attached) telling you Safeway has confirmed your order. But they don't have the order when you arrive and they told me they don't have the 'door dash printer' that's needed. Anyway; he kindly gave me my order as I showed him I paid for it, and I opened a ticket with DoorDash to get them removed from the available stores. Just a heads up to my fellow Yelpers The pharmacy finally appears to be fully staffed so they have pretty quick turnaround and are always helpful with questions. They even answer the phone (wow). I do use GoodRX to compare pricing Now the grocery side is tough because if you don't spend a ton of time clipping coupons and such, you are WAY overpaying for groceries and non grocery items have atrocious pricing. My fiber wafers are $14.99 at Safeway and $9.99 at Walmart. Just crazy markup that I've seen across many items Their eggs are still $4.99 where everyone else is down to $3.99 and sometimes less. Their weekly flyer comes out on Wednesday and if there are good sales- they will be there. Chicken thighs for $1.29/lb as an example. Just make sure to read the fine print as sometimes you have to get these deals directly from the butcher counter AND make sure you clip the coupon AND make sure the store is set to this location on your app. Check, check, check... Customer service guy that I asked for help acted extremely inconvenienced I asked for help in general and he was very rude as well. I had apogised for asking for his help because he made me feel like a nuisance, I tried to tell him this was my first time in a Safeway he walked away while I was mid sentence! Then I am very tight with money and budget because I am on disability receive no assistance pay child support on top of that and have full custody of my oldest child, so naturally I look for sals and the best deals, I got two boxes of cereal that has yellow tags that read 1 99 that was it well I also found similar deals on hamburger buns 1.79 for name brand buns (not that that makes it better just for a name but they are usually softer) and pop tarts for 1.99 I go to self checkout as to not annoy another employee by asking them to do their job and there I ring up the cereals and the deal doesn't come up, no biggie cvs it doesn't until you hit pay so I figured same deal, NO! You have to buy so many go get the deal the lady tells me when j ask why I'm not getting the deal I explained that isn't posted on signs she laughs and says most people just know or have the paper ad that says so! I left without buying anything wastex money on lyft to get there and home as well! I hate being talked to like an idiot or an inconvenience,I was polite respectful and I didn't interrupt them doing anything it was uncalled for. I appreciate this location always being clean and staffed with informative, friendly people. Today I stopped by specifically for the ribs on sale. I grabbed a cart and went to the meat department. I saw the collection of ribs and picked two out of the designated sale section. Once I rang them up, instead of the $7 I was planning on spending, the about was almost $50! Thank goodness the manager was immediately called- she, despite being totally pregnant, insisted on walking back and checking out the meat section! She ended up ringing my ribs up for the sale price due to a number of them being incorrectly placed in the same section. LOVE this Safeway!!! My favorite Safeway location for many reasons they have a great butcher and meat department, but the real reason I go is for their deli and imported cheese department. They gave an enormous selection of gourmet cheeses and deli meats with a great selection of meats and cheeses like Kretschmar, Primo, and Safeway select. The deli staff is friendly and eager to help. I was assured a refund of my purchase and the tip. Today I get a $7 refund; not the $70 I was expecting. I called Safeway again and apparently, I will be waiting another 7 business days for my refund. I now have no money to buy groceries as I am on a fixed income. This is not the first time I have had problems with delivery but it is the worst possible time for this to happen and Safeway customer service was not helpful in finding a way to expedite my refund. This is for their delivery service! It was my first time ordering groceries for delivery during the pandemic and I could not believe how easy Safeway made it! I placed the order online and used a $20 off + free delivery code since it was my first time. Great offer! They had everything that I wanted/needed and the only thing that they missed were everything bagels but when I notified them, my card was credited immediately. My husband had some liquor requests and those came no problem (just require signature/ID info at the door instead of a no-contact drop). The search feature makes it really easy/quick to find what you want. Now that I've placed an order, follow-up orders will be super easy because their app saves previous orders so that you can easily add them to your cart again. Yes, please! Being a busy working mama of *almost* 2, this may just be my new way of grocery shopping, especially during crazy weeks. I believe the normal delivery fee is around $5-$6 which is not bad at all for the convenience! I will absolutely be placing delivery orders from Safeway in the future. read more

Never had this experience until recently. My daughter went for an item and the produce guy with holes all in his face tells her it's in the back and to come back when she's done shopping. Well she came there for one thing and he continues to unbox onions. Usually the employee will go to the back to retrieve item for person waiting. Not sure what protocol is. Called for advice on this and accused by a "manager" that I was YELLING ! Like seriously I had to LOL because I guess this person has never heard a voice with authority that he considered it yelling? Dude. I'm in a store and it's loud! So keep hiring snowflakes as persons in charge and people with holes in their faces. Going down the rabbit hole. Disgusting you can't get great service anymore. I have been coming to the Safeway for at least 30 years and have never had a bad experience until yesterday. I went to the meat section to buy a roast, and noticed all of them, except for one had seasoning on it, which is what I wanted however, it was too small of a roast so I asked the butcher who came out to stock the meat if he had any other roast that were larger with seasoning, and he actually glared at me and said he didn't know and rolled his eyes, so than I asked him what kind of seasoning was on the meat, maybe I could go look for the seasoning and make some myself -and he said he didn't know in a way that was very condescending so then I knew he did not want to help me so I went to the butcher area and asked another butcher for any extra seasoning and he gave some to me right away and told me what it was. I usually don't do bad reviews, but the first butcher was so unprofessional and I believe his name is Danny. One last suggestion -I'm not sure what it is but for the past few months when you enter Safeway it smells very very fishy. That's not a good thing. read more

This is a nice Safeway with a great cheese and wine selection. My review today is for the floral department. My son had two proms to go to two weekends in a row, so I have another recent experience to compare. We ordered a corsage last weekend from the "luxury" grocery store because I thought they would do something cool and unique. The flowers on the corsage were fresh and in good condition, but the corsage itself was so date it could have come from my prom. I decided to try Safeway because I thought it couldn't be any worse and it would probably be cheaper. I spoke to two very nice people in the floral department including a gentleman who took very careful attention to see the dress and listen to what I was hoping to get. I was so delighted when we picked up the corsage today to see something so beautiful, and the price was $14 less than the first corsage. Shopping just before close on Saturday night. Specifically shopping for the advertised ground beef on sale. I searched and searched the refrigerated case only to find that there were no packages left. Butcher's counter was closed. Anthony who was cleaning up saw me looking exasperated and asked if he could help. He told me there was one package left, the one he had set aside for himself. Much to my surprise he offered it to me without hesitation. 10 stars for Anthony!!! Thank you!!! Rare to find genuine, selfless service to the public these days. This is our local Safeway so I'm probably here 2-3 times a week but lately have been making an effort to go to Basha's at Missouri and 7th instead. The Safeway staff is clearly overworked and burned out to the extent that every other visit involves an interaction with a worker who is unhelpful or worse. In my opinion the manager needs to be replaced because you don't get an entire store full of disgruntled workers for no reason. Furthermore, Safeway retails Vanilla gift cards which I just learned (after purchasing $1,000 worth of them here for prizes for an event I was hosting), are expensive, not accepted at most retailers (including Safeway itself) and are riddled with fraud. You would think a company like Safeway would pride itself on not selling shady products like this one. read more

This is the closest grocery store to my Phoenix home, but it stands out for other reasons. The store has an extensive cheese and deli meat department with the friendliest customer service person, who encourages trying something before buying it. I always appreciate the opportunity and end up purchasing items that weren't on the "list" at all. There is a Starbucks in the store on the left side as you enter, if you are desperate for a coffee or just want to enjoy your grocery shopping with a drink in hand. As for the other type of drink, the wine area has a big selection, also on the left side of the store but toward the back past the bread. There is a large parking lot, but sometimes it can fill up, particularly at lunch time from customers at a few favorite restaurants that are in the same strip. So, try to avoid grocery shopping during prime time for these restaurants, if possible. The only reason for the loss of one star is the pain to click on all those Safeway Just for U coupons. read more

Four stars for a clean store, friendly staff and delicious bakery, produce and deli food items. Deducting one star because they are usually sold out of the BBQ chicken nuggets in the deli area. Then their only options are varieties of super hot and spicy nuggets that burn going in and going out. Most people who shop there are Americans who are not used to eating habanero, jalapeno or ghost peppers at every meal. Safeway why don't you enter into this century with functioning in-store Internet? Unfortunately one can't access the Internet in the store. Cellular doesn't work because of the building design and the Safeway Wi-Fi doesn't work because they wont invest in a decent router/provider and get it fixed. Because of this, it's impossible to use many of the multiple avenues of discounts Safeway offers. I made a comment to the store manager and they told me I needed to select my sale items before I shop. What's the point of having mobile access to information if, one can't actually have mobile access to information? I haven't looked at store paper ads for 25 years and I don't care to start again now. I go to the store, see what's on sale and buy it. But not at Safeway. Unfortunately at Safeway. they've got about 1000 hurdles you have to cross to get a sale price on things. They have "just for you". "in-store, specials"."digital coupons" and probably things I don't even know about. All of these require some sort of Internet. Navigating their sales is hard enough. Trying to do it without Internet connectivity is damn near impossible. I'm over them. I'd rather pay a bit more and go to Whole Foods than to have to deal with the whole frustration I get at Safeway. read more

This grocery store is clean and a fairly good size. Floral, produce, meat, seafood, wine section, cheese section, yadda, yadda. However, I agree with Kristi D: it seems as though I -- in my comfy weekend pants and Skechers flip flops -- didn't get the same service as the rich ladies in designer jeans and $800.00 Louboutins. Hey people, my money spends the same way. One guy in the meat department was helpful -- I was looking for chicken, which he was stocking...so at least one person didn't mind my ponytail and simple weekend attire. The only reason I'll come to Safeway are for those things which cannot be found at Trader Joe's, and that I don't want to buy in bulk at Sam's. I spent probably 150% of what I would have spent at TJ's...even with their special card. So basically, it works when I have no other choice. For starters I just want to say Chikako is absolutely amazing! Every time we come in here for a coffee I go and get a breakfast burrito from the "Signature Cafe" in Safeway. The breakfast burrito is great but the warm feeling Chikako provides to go with it is far greater. She is so kind, sincere, and just a kind person. Living within walking distance, this is my go to store for most of our family's supplies, but I really enjoying coming here because of the clean floors, well stocked shelves and friendly staff. I highly recommend the flower shop, where I can always find a few helium balloons for my grand daughters! This last Friday we all came together, and I let THEM pick out a color...took awhile, and our host was so gracious and accommodating that I wanted to "tip" her, but this, evidently, is against store policy...oh, well. Yesterday, we ordered from the deli for a few fresh side dishes, and entered into a nice conversation about children. Friendly place, indeed, and never feel unwelcomed when we bring the little ones, or made to feel guilty when they spill or drop their snacks from the cart....OMG, come on kiddos!!
