LOL at the headline "Well lit, sparkly, shiney, well stocked new store." Yeah, right!
24 Hours? Right....try to go here and buy produce when they're not stocking it. They turn the lights off. Yeah, I love picking out food I can't see. Greeeaaat. Since they often have mushrooms or berries that are, shall we say, past their prime, it's kind of important. I guess bring a flashlight if you would like to buy fruits and produce at night.
Also, at night people stocking just love to leave everything in your way. Carts full of product, pallets and products strewn across entire aisles, cardboard boxes and cutters laying everywhere so you can't do much but move or climb over them. It doesn't need to be like that at night. You get the feeling it's meant to discourage anyone from shopping at night. Went here and bought baby food one day - found 11 jars with loose lids (the lids popped up) and dried out. I took them and gave them to an employee who just was like...."okay". What, you want to leave them there for people to buy and feed to their kids? The only reason I found an employee was because it was 2am and there was no customer service open and no way to write a note that these were ruined merchandise. Anyway....
Bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. I tried to go to the bathroom (this experience is what prompted my review) - the floor was your typical dirt encrusted, filthy Safeway bathroom floor, and every toilet in the women's room was dirty. After sucking it up and going anyway (this is where the experience diverges from my the norm at other Safeways), the toilet paper wouldn't come out. I had to open the case to get any out. Luckily, there are no locks, just a tab to twist. The bottom roll was jammed in so it would not roll at all. Finally done, I tried to wash my hands. No paper towel. Opened the case, none on the roll. Okay. That's fine. (I get a piece of paper towel before I wash so I can use that to cover my hand when I get my actual paper towel for drying when it's a non-automated towel dispenser after washing your hands - I'm not OCD but w/e). I go in the mens room and get some, bring it back with me, and try to wash my hands. Filled hand with soap. Neither of the two faucets worked. Wonderful. At this point, it's just like....wow. Okay. Go to the mens room. Only one of the faucets worked. Washed hands. Went to the customer service counter to see if there were any "how are we doing" cards as the sign on the bathroom door suggested I should say something if I felt like I wasn't having a good experience. Of course, they have no comment cards at the customer service counter. Fine. Yelp it is.
The sinks in the womens room as well as the floor were incredibly filthy. I could not believe this. Even the regular Safeway with employee shared bathrooms is cleaner than this.
In fact, I just did a cross country trip, drove 2,000 miles each way, and never encountered such a gross or underkept bathroom. Walmarts, truck stops, gas stations, nothing topped this.
The employees also call it the only bathroom, and say its "Starbuck's Bathroom". No, it's not Starbucks. It's next to it. But it clearly has the Safeway "let us know if there's a problem". Don't try to pawn off your horrible, unclean bathrooms on Starbucks. I don't even like Starbucks, but they don't even deserve to be affiliated with those conditions. I'm sure there are other bathrooms in the back just like at a normal, older Safeway. Next time if I ever have to go there, I'll just go in the back and use that one - no way in hell I'm going back in the "Starbucks" ones. read more
