I had eaten at Chuponcito and decided to walk over with my friend to this bakery. My goal was to see if they had their guava Danish and lo and behold they did. I saw 3 Danish and I grabbed all three. To share of course. Walking to the register to pay, my eyes saw something and it halted me in my steps. On the counter on a glass plate with a glass cover was a magnificent fig focaccia bread cake. I was so full from lunch but ecstatic. I guess I could not hide my expression because the nice female staff said I'm the first to be excited for the bread cake. Immediately I had to get a slice, the female staff was extremely nice and asking which slice I wanted. I carefully eyed the slice and pointed. She pointed to the same one too. Great minds think alike. It's with sadness that after eating the slice, I wished I had gotten more because it was AmAzInG and DELISH! I shared it was my friend and she said it was delicious. I gave another friend the guava Danish and he said it's the best he's even. He even said it was better than Porto's. I didn't say it, he did. I'm saving my Danish for dessert after breakfast. The bread. Best thing here. It's really good. The bread. Then the cheesecake. The cheesecake is really damn good. Super, super impressed with the cheesecake. It's hard to make cheesecake that good. I've also had the apple pie which is a pass, and a couple flavored croissants which are good but not necessarily a must-buy, and the cinnamon roll which is good but could use more frosting. But the bread and cheesecake are worth driving out of your way to come. And I believe the day I came, the owner was working behind the counter and she is really friendly. She actually gave me a free croissant! That was pretty cool. read more

Finally got to try this new local bakery and was very impressed. My mom was in the mood for some sweets and I had this place on the list of places to try. We were greeted by the owner who was a very nice man. I was impressed with the following: 1. Variety of pastries- from croissants, to cheesecakes to muffins this place has it all. Paid by card. Saffron is located in a plaza and offers plaza parking. I went on a Saturday morning and it wasn't that busy. It's a very small bakery that offers a few seats inside and out. The cashier was nice but they didn't seem to have too many pastries available. I ordered a scone, chocolate croissant, and a mini cake. I was pretty disappointed with the selection and presentation of the pastries. I was also disappointed with the taste since the pastries were dry. I don't think I would go back to try other items. read more

I was here on a whim and everything that I got was delicious. I didn't know that this place was even here until I found it through an app. I am more of a savory person so the spinach pastry was delicious, I could eat 10 of these. My mom already went to town on the bread and said it was very good. She's going to slice it up so we can make sandwiches and I am excited about this. Normally, I don't drink decaf coffee (because what's the point?) but it was super smooth. I was impressed because most coffees at pastry shops are bitter or too acidic for me. I'd love to try their sandwiches or avo toast soon! Parking was easy, there is a small lot and I don't think it gets full often. read more

I expected so much better based on the reviews but I was sorely disappointed today when I stopped by. The place was ran as if it was their first day open. Nobody knew what they were doing. I had to repeat myself 3 times to the cashier lady and keep emphasizing my food is "for here" as she was packing it to go. I asked for my quiche to be warmed up only to have it served cold. I then had it sent back to get warmed up and it was just an over salty scorchingly hot disappointment at this point. They also never asked what kind of milk I wanted for my latte and amidst all the confusion the cashier lady was having at my simple order, I forgot to mention my milk preference when ordering. Finding out they're making it with whole milk, I asked if they have 2% and the owner looked back at me disappointed looking and said "we do but I'm already making this one. You want me to toss it?" Well...if you say it like that obviously you're annoyed and it shows. I then as a last ditch effort to give them one more chance ordered a blueberry scone and literally in the middle of me talking the girl helping me abandons the order and goes over to help another lady on the phone struggling with a phone order. I stood there dumbfounded at the fact that I'm just standing there and I have now been outright ignored. Then another guy asks me if I'm being helped and I say "I don't even know at this point" and he starts to try to help me as the owner is loudly explaining how people are supposed to do their job. This was one s@&$ show of an experience. All and all a VERY disappointing and underwhelming experience and as someone who could've been a regular since I live down the street, I will likely not come back. Too bad. I hope they get it together. read more

I had been craving a cinnamon roll for days now. I bought one from a restaurant and it was dry and sad with no icing.. then I drove 45 minutes just to be told they sold out at another place.. finally my husband suggested this place. I am not exaggerating when I say that Saffron Bakery has an amazing cinnamon roll. It's a mixture of a croissant and a traditional cinnamon roll and it's soooooo good. We also got the roast beef sandwich because you have to eat before you eat dessert and this sandwich was also very yummy. The sandwich came on their French baguette and it was nicely seasoned. Anyway all that to say the is place makes excellent food and pastries.. I will be back and you should definitely come by! read more

Saffron bakery delivers ultra fresh breakfast sandwiches and scrumptious pastries along with the best sour dough bread and baguettes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They are truly wonderful place to eat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tone of the few places where the coffee is actually just as good as the pastry. I routinely order BLT (the best) and croissants, almond croissants, scones (chocolate chip and marzipan) and cruffins but you can't go wrong here. Highly recommend! read more

I was looking for a place with fresh organic sourdough bread and found this bakery on Yelp. The bakery is small with a very nice display of pastries and desserts. Everything looked delicious and decorated nicely. The man who helped us seemed like he was the owner or one of them, and was extremely friendly and made a really good chai latte. The sourdough bread is one of the best we've had! It's very fresh and had a really good chew and taste to it. He also gave us tips so that we knew how to store it since it's organic and free of preservatives. You can tell they care about their quality. We'll definitely be back! read more

Do you like butter as much as I do? Well I can tell that the awesome people over at Saffron Bakery do, because they might have one of the best croissants you'll have in The OC. We arrived around 10AM on a Sunday morning and there was plenty of parking in front of and near the store. There was a bit of a line, but it went so fast I still hadn't decided exactly what I wanted to order. Inside, it feels very much like a grab-and-go type of place rather than somewhere you're asking for the WiFi password. They have a couple seats inside with more seats to enjoy your bounty outside. We ordered a pain au chocolate and a pastry cream cruffin. Both were decadently savory and sweet. They are packed full of buttery goodness without being greasy. The bread itself was so flavorful that next time, we'll likely bypass the integrated sweets and savor some well executed simplicity. read more

Outstanding pastries. Wonderful customer service. So happy to see an amazing, authentic bakery open nearby. I've been going to another bakery which is a bit further and can't tell you how happy I am to see one closer to me and one that has a very unique style to its own. Definitely recommend. Don't complain about price. You're not coming to a donut store and getting that kind of pastry. You're coming to experience a high-end style pastry, of which is in a caliber of its own. Totally worth it. What you see in the pics I've attached was about $26 (tip not included), and I think that's a great value. Delicious beyond what your taste buds can describe. We stopped for Turkish coffee and found so much more. The inside is very quaint and although small, there's plenty of sitting with a few outside tables. The croissants are flaky and buttery as they should be. Sadly the kitchen was closed so we didn't get to try any of their sandwiches but there's always next time. Coffee was delicious. read more

Amazing bakery! First time here today and we got several treats. As we were leaving the owner (super kind gentleman) gave my kids a free cookie. In the car my kids said this was the BEST cookie they've ever had in their entire life. I asked for a bite and my daughter literally handed me a tiny crumb to try lol. And that crumb was amazing!! I wanted to reach out and let you know how much I enjoyed my recent visit to your bakery. From the moment I walked in, I felt the warmth and charm of the space, and the scent of fresh pastries made it feel like a little slice of heaven and very less sugary. My family always complained about too much sugar in most pastries and cookies. However, now they are so happy to buy pastries and Danish here. None of us finished our cake slices and still have a large portion remaining. The following day, I called the store to explain the situation. A female employee answered the phone and told me she was busy with customers but would call me back shortly to sort out the issue. About 30 minutes later, I received a call back, and it was Aiden again. I explained everything that happened, but once again he showed no concern, empathy, or professionalism. When I asked about my mother's question regarding whether the cake was the display cake, he claimed he "didn't hear" her question. He did not apologize for the experience and simply offered a free slice of cake as compensation. My family and I have purchased cakes from this location several times before and have always enjoyed both the quality of the cakes and the customer service. In fact, my family has owned restaurants and businesses ourselves, so we understand very well how important customer service and quality are in the hospitality industry. This is not the way customers should be treated, which is why this experience was so disappointing to us. This is the first time we have ever had to complain. We were very surprised that a cake we specifically requested to be fresh tasted bad and have been displayed for days. Aiden also mentioned that cakes and pastries can remain out for up to two days, which was concerning given the quality we experienced. We truly loved this location and had always enjoyed coming here in the past. Unfortunately, what could have been a small issue turned into a very negative experience due to the lack of professionalism, communication, and customer care from the manager on duty. Because of this experience, my family and I will no longer be returning to this location in the future. I hope this issue can be addressed so other customers do not experience the same situation.

Every summer when we come back, after having been away for the entire school year, the staff remembers us and could not be more welcoming. At this point, my kids know Jake by sight, and ask for Aliso Coffee and Donuts specifically. The service isn't just friendly, these guys run a tight ship. I remember coming back after the new owners bought the shop, seeing the young folks running the operation, and assuming the service might be a little sloppy; but that ended up being completely unfounded, as these kids clearly take pride in the work they do. And it doesn't hurt that they're all Detroit sports fans ;)
