I was excited to try this spot based on the reviews. Unfortunately, they did not have the items I wanted and I settled for some chaat. The restaurant itself is pretty bare bones and set up for takeout now. Fair warning, it's not much to look at and can be a bit of a turn-off if you are not prepared. The dahi paapdi chaat was my favorite of the lot. They also have ready made Indian sweets and savories which you can peruse and buy.

First time trying this place out due to my coworker telling me about it! It was just me and the owner and he was making the curries I ordered, so he was busy putting heart and soul into it. But I got to talk to him more as he got my samosas and sweets; he is such a sweet man! Rough and tough on the outside but on the inside is what counts. One order of vegetable samosa is two large pieces and it was good! I also got the box of mixed barfi, and chum chum. Finally the Desi ghee Jalebi was good. This place will be my future dinner takeouts.

    .

The samosas were absolutely delightful - crispy on the outside and packed with flavorful filling. The sweets were just as impressive, with the jalebi being perfectly crispy and the laddu having a great balance of sweetness and texture

Yikes. I have been trying my best to support local restaurants. But places like these make it extremely difficult. The portion sizes were a joke. The chaat was more like a few bites. It also looked like it was just thrown around without much care. There were bites of chilli and then there were a few bites of salt. The Mooli paratha - if you can call that, I didn't taste Mooli at all, it wasn't even rolled properly. Thick and lumpy in places and thin and burned in a few places. The yogurt on the side was sourrrrr!! I also ordered samosas - they tasted ok but were soggy.

There is no option for leaving a rating in minus else I would've. I've been getting samosas and jalebis from this place since March 2013 which is little more than a decade. The owner of this place was rude then and he's even more rude now. My wife inquired about the jalebis and the guy rudely told her they make lots of it everyday and she should not to be wasting his time by calling and asking. I went to pickup samosas and jalebis, the owner again made same comment with a tone and attitude. I looked at him once and then ignored. I am not going back to this place ever again. The quality of samosas were great initially but has degraded to lowest levels of taste now. Most of the samosas are burnt and have cracks with a bitter aftertaste. I would highly discourage anyone to go here if they want to stay healthy and not get sick.

Top notch jalebis! If you order through DoorDash it's priced per pound as are the sweet boxes. They don't customize sweet boxes over DoorDash but if you call and place the order they may be able to customize based on availability for the day. Best to converse in Punjabi if you call.

Found this hole in the wall place for Indian fast food and sweets and really like some of their menu items that I've tried so far - samosa, jalebi abd tea. They have Indian sweets and look yum but have not tried them yet. On my list for next time. Taking out a star as I think they could better with the interior upkeep.

Food had the perfect amount of spice. Authentic Indian cuisine. Served at the perfect temperature. Also included a delicious sweet dessert. Excellent experience.

Goddamn good samosas!! The green sauce packs a punch

*Vegetarian Foodie Review*…read more Always wanted to try this cafe and finally went in there today. It was at a walkable distance from my daughter's gymnastics camp. It was around 2PM, and we wanted some quick snack bites. This felt like a perfect place. Super cute cafe kind of ambiance. It has books, games etc to chill and my daughter & I had fun exploring it together. The menu didn't feel super huge, which is good because it makes me feel the items must be really good. I ended up ordering the paneer sandwich for myself and the veg panini for my 5 year old. 1) The paneer sandwich was my fav - it had a subtle hint of sweetness. The flavors really talked to me. The paneer portion was generous in my sandwich, a good protein-packed sandwich. 2) My daughter attacked the Veg panini and finished it in just a few mins. She told me it was super tasty, and didn't even let me try it. All sandwiches comes with fries - they were super yummy too, however, they were a tad bit salty and it would have been the best if they would tone down the salt a bit. Overall, I would rate the food at 5/5. My spouse joined us a little later, and I ordered the paneer sandwich one more time for him to eat. He also agreed that it was a 5 on 5. He loved the place too and told me he will definitely try the chai there next time he drops our kid to the gymnastics class. Service was surprisingly a little slow. They took 15 mins to get us the sandwiches, which in my opinion was a bit long considering it was just us in the cafe at that time. However, I had a feeling that they probably made it fresh, so it might take longer due to that. Took off 1 star for slow service. Definitely coming back again to try out more options from the menu!

Both meats were juicy, flavorful, and tender but if I had to pick one it would hands down by the beef steak. One thing to note about the dining experience is that it was uncomfortably hot inside the restaurant. I went on a summer day when it was in the high 80s and the restaurant didn't have AC or a fan... it was a lot warmer inside the restaurant than it was outside. I felt so relieved when I stepped outside.

It did have a lot of sugar, but it was pretty similar flavor-wise to Indian chai (sans milk), so it paired very well with our order. We ordered the chicken suqaar and the beef wrap. We opted for the chapati (sabaayad in Somali) with the chicken suqaar, but would love to try their rice or their version of injera during our next visit! The menu at first glance looks kinda confusing since they have Lunch in big letters on one side with a ton of their dishes and Dinner on the other side with the remainder of the dishes, making it seem like a few items are available during this time... but the Lunch portion just states that it comes with a side of rice, pasta, chapati, or injera (which is the same as Dinner...) so kind of an interesting stylistic choice there, but this is to say that everything on the menu is available the whole time they're open. The meals were so flavorful- the chicken suqaar had a ton of onions, carrots, chicken, green-bean like veggie, and spices, and was served with a green sauce that had kind of a habanero or jalapeno taste to it. The beef wrap was huge and I only ate half of one for dinner- it was flavored so well and the beef was cooked perfectly. This came with a side of the green sauce and a white sauce. I'd love to return and try their injera with chicken, kay kay chicken, beef suqaar or beef steak, and their sambusas! I saw some on another diner's plate and it looked sizable and filling. Jubba is located right next to a VTA light rail and an apartment complex so there's decent foot traffic, but overall, a wonderful place to try and eat!

One of the few Indian restaurants that doesn't taste like they have three main sauces they pull from with no effort to make flavors differentiate or pop. The dishes here taste like the chef's actually care about the food. Service is polite and simple. Very low maintenance. Not a restaurant if you like to be picky. Come to enjoy it as it is. My only complaint (and it is minor) is that, because they do a lot of take out, they have a lot of drinks and other items prepared to just grab and go for you. This doesn't work if your order anything other than water to drink at the table. They offer really interesting and refreshing tea/lemonades, yet when they bring the drink it comes prepared to go in plastic cup, sealed, with boba style fat straw (as opposed to the very elegant picture on their menu). It stood out as massively tacky and ugly, especially because of how thoughtful the design choices are for the table scape and the rest of the dining experience. Strange place to cut a corner. Even opening the to go cup at the counter, pouring it into one of the lovely water glasses (which is what I did, lol) would be easy and streamline the beautiful experience.

I stopped because I felt that…read moredining experiences are personal, and everyone should have the opportunity to form their own opinion. Yesterday, however, I changed my mind after having one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had at Saapaaduu. I've tried to dine here a couple of times over the past few years, but it was always crowded, so we ended up leaving. Since we were in the area yesterday, we decided to give it another try. We arrived around 8:00 PM with our family, including kids, and waited about an hour for a table. Even though I added my phone number to the waitlist, I never received any updates, and it didn't seem like people were being called in the order they were added. By the time we were seated, it was already 9:00 PM. We ordered a few dishes. The appetizers--Chicken 65, Chicken Lollipop, and Pallipalayam Chicken--arrived one by one. About 30 minutes later, our server informed us that they were out of Seeraga Samba Chicken Biryani and only had Vijayawada Chicken Biryani available. Since it was already late and we had no real alternative, we agreed. It then took another 20 minutes for the biryani to arrive. Unfortunately, the Vijayawada Chicken Biryani was nothing like a biryani. It was simply dry basmati rice with chicken gravy sitting at the bottom of the bowl. The rice was dry, and the dish lacked the flavor and texture you'd expect from a biryani. I took one spoonful and left the rest--I didn't even want to take it home. The Pallipalayam Chicken tasted nothing but same chicken curry in Vijayawada biryani with coconut chunks and didn't have the authentic flavor I was expecting. Overall, nothing stood out. The food was mediocre at best and did not justify the long wait. The restaurant itself is quite small. The person at the front desk mentioned that it accommodates around 40 guests at a time, which seems about right for the 8-10 tables inside. Given the limited seating and the consistently long wait times, I strongly feel they should implement an online reservation or waitlist system. Families with young children shouldn't have to stand outside for an hour without updates. It almost feels like the long line has become part of the restaurant's image rather than something they're trying to improve. I genuinely wanted to like this place after hearing so much about it over the years, but unfortunately, the overall experience--from the wait, to the service, to the food--was disappointing. I apologize for leaving a negative review, as that's not something I usually do. However, I believe sharing an honest experience is fair to both the restaurant and future customers. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this feedback constructively and improves the overall dining experience.
