    * We rushed our dog to Sage Emergency in Dublin after he choked on a dental treat that got stuck. The X-rays showed that it was lodged at the junction between his esophagus and stomach. Dr. Beth Lieblick assessed everything quickly and chose the least invasive option first. After anesthesia, she was able to push the blockage down into his stomach so he could digest it naturally instead of going straight to a major surgery. Our dog stayed overnight for monitoring and came home the next morning safe and stable. Communication was clear the entire time, and the team was professional, calm, and genuinely kind during a very stressful situation. * In terms of cost, this is emergency care, so it is expensive. The initial diagnostic alone was around 1300 dollars. With bloodwork, X rays, anesthesia, the procedure, overnight monitoring, and medications, the estimate initially went up to 14000 dollars. The final total ended up being about 6600 dollars after adjustments. Even knowing emergency care costs more, it is still a financial shock when you are facing a possible life threatening situation for a family member. * We are giving 4 stars. The doctor and team absolutely deserve recognition for their professionalism and friendliness. The only reason we are taking off one star is the price. While we understand emergency care is costly, the numbers can feel overwhelming. Our advice is to get pet insurance if possible. If a bill in the thousands or potentially over ten thousand would be difficult, it is worth researching emergency options ahead of time. For us, what mattered most is that our family member came home safe.

I was told the antibiotic medicine I got prescribed on 5/8/2026 (only 5 days 10 dose supply) at the clinic will last till I got the online pharmacy refill, however they didn't approve my online prescription request until 5 days later. I request on 5/9/2026 and they don't approve until 5/13/2026, I didn't receive the medicine until 5/15/2026 and had to pay for expedited shipping. The cost of the medicine is almost three times more from clinic. The chewy online pharmacy is only $33.62 while they charge $105.46 for the exact same bottle. Due to this medicine is antibiotic to prevent developing of resistance towards the antibiotic, I had to drove out midnight for an hour to their clinic and spent another $105.46 for one bottle of the same antibiotic that would cost me only $33.62. I feel I should get reimbursed for that additional cost that could have bought two more bottles. It's already not easy and expensive to treat you fur babies with cancer, the clinic is making huge profit on their prescriptions. Please ask the doctor and utilize online pet pharmacy's like Chewy, Costco, Wedgewood..... etc.

My girl dog was sick when I came back from a San Diego trip... We took her not knowing it was a one way trip. The vet student from NY was cool. My vet was too standoffish which was not good but the young man from NY (I am from NY) made up for it. Price is price and I knew it was a one way trip we tried to see if it was possible...I was given my options after my girl's evaluation was not good. I gladly paid for it as it was a fair price to pay for my girl and her cremation and such. I wish there was more selection regarding urns...The few they had were hideous. Still, I like that they were brass. I have a similar one for my Akita but much more attractive and ornamented. It was a rough day. The staff up front was nice all through out... One note, that vet student when I asked gave me a nice jar for a cut of my girl's hair...I used to call it chicken spots since she was a blue healer mix. I have a small cut of her hair in that jar and hold it lovingly still. That saved the review for Sage from being a 3 to a 5...That young man made it more personal and that jar a huge life long memento of my girl Allie...Thank you young man and do not lose that bed side manner.

I am incredibly thankful to Dr. Haburjak and his wonderful team for the exceptional care,…read morecompassion, and dedication they showed to my dog, Gui Gui. Gui Gui had been limping since last Wednesday, and Dr. Haburjak's team was able to quickly find an appointment for us that Monday. During the visit, Dr. Haburjak performed a very thorough physical examination and determined that he did not believe Gui Gui's knee was the source of the problem. He carefully identified the hock as a possible source and immediately referred us to a specialist. What touched me most was how much Dr. Haburjak personally did to make sure Gui Gui received the care he needed as quickly as possible. He immediately called and texted the specialist to help get Gui Gui seen as soon as possible. He also sent us a detailed and thoughtful email explaining his concerns and introduced us directly to the specialist. He went above and beyond to make sure there was a smooth transition of care. It turned out that Gui Gui had a serious infection in his hock--septic arthritis. I truly believe Dr. Haburjak's careful examination, clinical judgment, quick action, and genuine concern for Gui Gui made all the difference. His prompt identification of the problem and immediate referral helped Gui Gui receive the urgent treatment he needed. In my heart, I truly believe he saved Gui Gui's life. I feel incredibly lucky to have such an amazing surgeon and such a wonderful team in the area where I live. It gives me so much peace of mind knowing that Gui Gui is in the hands of people who genuinely care about their patients. I cannot thank Dr. Haburjak and his entire team enough for everything they did for Gui Gui. I truly appreciate their kindness, professionalism, compassion, and dedication. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Very friendly and thoughtful. My complaints are not directly to anyone, but mostly being misled by what this hospital can do and when it can be done. I scheduled a consultation with internal medicine for August 4th. At the time of scheduling, I let them know that I was referred to them for a rhinoscopy and CT for my dog. They told me over the phone they sometimes can do the procedure the same day but it's uncommon. I understood that but still scheduled, hopeful that they could still do a rhinoscopy in the near future as it was something my primary vet urged me to do soon. They had me pay the consultation fee on same day to confirm my appointment, which I didn't question at the time. Keep in mind, they knew I needed a rhinoscopy with internal medicine specifically at the time I made this call. At the time of our appointment, we met with Dr. Louis who was very knowledgeable and kind. When I asked him about scheduling the rhinoscopy, he said they do not have the equipment needed for that procedure at this hospital (IronHorse) and he is only in the hospital that has the equipment (OakVet) ONCE A MONTH. Adding to that, he was out of town in August so we were looking at September. When I asked the nurse about September, she said there was a line so it's possible we couldn't get in. At this time, I was feeling very frustrated because I felt so misled that they knew the procedure couldn't be done anytime soon but still took my money for the consultation fee and led me to believe this hospital could perform the procedure. If I knew OakVet was the one that had the equipment, I would've just scheduled there. But this information was never offered to me over the phone at the time of scheduling the initial consult. I was told the estimate for the future procedure would be sent to me by the end of the week (this was Tuesday 8/4) and didn't receive anything by Friday. I called on Friday and they said end of day, and I did not receive anything end of day. I called again on Monday and they said they are backed up, I should have it soon. It's now 8/16 and I have not received a call or email with my estimate. Overall, the communication and professionalism of some staff at this hospital is not something I'd subject myself to again. I think once they finish the merge with OakVet, it could function better but if you're looking to get a rhinoscopy and CT, I would look elsewhere. We were able to go to Sage Dublin that same week and have the procedure done. All other vets in the area that I called were very transparent about how booked they were and if they have the equipment to perform the procedure I asked about.

Despite him being in pain and extra on edge, the team took their time to treat him and make him comfortable. He had a swollen paw and a lot of pain, but we didn't see anything happen to him. The vet was perplexed by his symptoms, because it looked like it could have been a rattlesnake bite, but there wasn't any visible bite mark and we live in West Oakland (literally just surrounded by concrete). But she was absolutely right. He was treated for a bite and is now recovering smoothly. I highly recommend VEG. They are all top notch.

This is my second experience where first they wanted to put down my 1 year old kitty who was having urinary problems. I kept asking why they weren't starting him on antibiotics? I asked why are they compounding with stronger pain meds? Obviously his condition is getting worse if you're only treating the symptoms and not the cause. It was almost like they were setting him up for failure (death). They didn't care or listen when I told them I was a Pharmacist and had better recommendations on medication choices. I kept taking him every other day as his condition was worsening and they only kept adding stronger pain meds without identifying and treating the root of the problem. It made my parents sick to hear their suggestion of putting my cat down on the third visit. They didn't have the heart to even tell me that. So, my mom called all of her friends and found a "hero vet" who saved my cat's life. He actually DID start antibiotics and other meds to help with urinary flow and some pain meds to keep him comfortable. He also recommended a wet urinary diet and Calm Probiotics to be mixed in his wet food. We kept him on the meds for a month and he continues to eat his urinary diet. My baby is a healthy 4 year old now. I can't stand the horrific practices at VEG San Ramon. And now just the other day, they put down my friend's cat who was only 6 years old. Again, they couldn't diagnose or identify the problem so they suggested euthanasia. I feel there's a huge conflict of interest in their treatment of our sick pets and their push to get mildly sick pets euthanized and then cremated. This is sadly a scam business. I was so happy when they first opened because I felt a sense of relief having a 24/7 emergency vet nearby. Little did I know their ruthless practices would bring so much pain to pets and their parents. Please don't trust them with the health and wellbeing of your fur babies.

Best thing that ever happened was going to Sage as pepper got the care she needed by Vet- Lindsay Swirble. She is the only vet we have gone to in Bay Area that actually has experience with pugs. Dr. Linsey Swirble saved my dog (pepper)with her caring, throughness and experience. My dogs vet would not of even had the required equipment in their office or experience that she had a foxtail (1 inch) lodged behind her eye. She examined my dog with such care even putting dye and a black light to check for laceration. My previous pug lost his eye because a laceration was missed from a bad examination until I took him to an eye specialist a week later who said it was too late and it could of been fixed if diagnosed sooner. If I had taken that dog to Dr. Linsey Swirble at sage I know he would of also had his eye today as my dear pepper . I will drive 2 hours to see her from now on just to get the right care. I have had many dogs and vets over the years and this doctor is the best. She treated my dog like she was her own child. If you think its expensive to get ER care it was not. It was about $60 more then regular vet visit but it got fixed right away, correctly. My dogs eye is worth far more than $60. They have equipment that regular clinics do not and have the best veterinarian in Bay Area Dr. Lindsay Swirble. My only regret was not taking my previous dog there who did lose his eye by 2 regular vet visits that charged and misdiagnosed when I know Dr. Swirble would of known how to fix him the first time by her thoroughness and caring before that dog lost an eye. If you are in doubt if the cost will be too much or the care is any good don't hesitate. Dr. Swirble is amazing and I will go when she is working to make sure my dogs are in good hands. I left my pet with them to be treated while hospitalized. Unfortunately, I did not know exactly how sick she was. Within a matter of a short period, diagnostics came in with not so good news that left us with two options. Neither of which I was prepared for. After hearing the extent of my babies sickness, it was evident we needed to set her free. As painful as those words and that decision was, it had to be done. We drove back to that hospital to be with our baby. Sage has a special room just for the letting go process. I called this clinic to inquire about scheduling an appointment, and unfortunately, the interaction with the receptionist was extremely disappointing. The second I mentioned that i had a bird, she became very dismissive. I explained that I was calling because their information online states that they see birds. She placed me on a brief hold to confirm, then came back on the line and said, " I just confirmed, we definitely don't take birds. Have a good day," and immediately hung up on me. I completely understand that not every vet clinic treats exotic birds, and I have no issue with that. My issue is how the call was handled. A simple, polite explanation, or even a recommendation for another exotic clinic in the area would have been appreciated. Instead, I was made to feel like my question was dumb and and inconvenient. If your online information states that you treat birds but that is no longer the case, it should be updated so pet owners aren't wasting their time calling. More importantly, basic courtesy and professionalism should be expected when someone is simply trying to find appropriate care for their pet.
