Sahara not only had a family special of large pizza, garlic bread and 2 liter for less than $30 they delivered it to our hotel free of charge. Good pizza but not user-friendly, closes in the middle of the day, yelled at us to get out 10 minutes before closing at 2:00, does not allow you to order ahead to eat in the restaurant, i.e. if you're 10 minutes away and would like to get the pizza started so you don't have to wait as long once you get there, they won't do it, you have to either order once you get there and wait, or order "to go" or for delivery. Food was delicious. Ordered two medium pizzas, both came out perfect. They bring the pizza out to you in a timely manner and have no issues with changing items on pizzas. Soooo good! We stopped at Fort George Brewery first because we saw they had burgers and pizza but the pizza is only sold there during certain times. I then looked up pizza and found Sahara. I didn't know but Sahara provides the pizza for Fort George! The pizza is amazing. The pizza dough is cooked to perfection and is soft and crunchy at the seem time. We got pineapple and pepperoni toppings and it was proportioned well. My husband also got wings and said they were tasty too. Took advantage of the Yelp $2 off a large pizza with check in and got a large pizza for $18.99. It was pretty good- the crust was crispy and fluffy on the inside and it was a good amount of cheese. We ordered pizza delivery to our hotel room in Astoria, OR. It arrived in about half the time they told us to expect it. The pizza was hot and tasty. Quite a bit better than most delivery I've had. We actually live in Washington and there isn't a Sahara close enough to us for delivery. We do stop in when we're in a town that has one. On a road trip through Astoria, my partner and I were in the mood for pizza. Seeing 'Sahara Pizza' shortly after arriving in town, we thought it was a sign. The sign should have been clearer and flashed 'Do Not Enter'. The menu had a classic Margherita Pizza, which we decided to give a try. One bite, and you could tell the tomatoes came straight out of a can. The unpleasant flavor of them dominated the pizza. The mozzarella slices were offensively small, and the slivers of basil were so tasteless we wondered up until the end whether we were given spinach instead. Also, the crust was very unimpressive. While the rest of the town was lovely and amazing, we had to chuckle at our luck for eating at what was possibly the worst place in Astoria. read more

Very disappointed by the service by Sahara today. When we lived closer we came here often. We moved to Colorado for a while but now we are back in Washington. We decided to go to our favorite pizza place in Astoria. We stopped in at 1:20pm and there was a lady waiting for an order at the counter and the folks behind the counter were busy so we sat down for a little bit and went through the menu. At about 1:30pm when a gentleman had finished paying for something I approached the counter to order. The gentleman was awkwardly staring at me and I asked how he was doing. I started to order and he stared at me like I had three heads. He then says, you know we close at 2 right? I looked back at the door and noticed the closed between 2-3pm on the bottom of the sign. Now while I couldn't possibly understand why a restaurant would close at a prime time of day during tourist season I said what time is it? I pulled out my phone and I said out loud it's 1:30. The gentleman made no effort to offer to make it to go or explain the why they close for an hour or confront the fact that it's just 1:30pm. So the sign should read closed 1:30pm-3pm apparently. He made no effort to enter the order and stared at me as if my presence in his restaurant was an inconvenience to him. Well, I can assure you I will never inconvenience them with my presence again. I told the kids who had ridden for 3 hours to have our favorite pizza that they didn't want our business. We found a new pizza place in town today. So long Sahara. read more
