Beer Cheese Mac n Cheese

The atmosphere was chill. The view of the water was really good. I enjoyed my Mac n Cheese. It hit the spot. The beer was crisp and cold.

Chips and salsa

The ambiance was friendly and almost wholesome. Kids were enjoying some of the decor (including mine in the yellow truck) there is indoor and outdoor deck seating. We had already eaten in the day and really just wanted a beer so that's what brought us in, we ended up getting chips and salsa for the kids, by far one of my favorite salsas. It had a bit of heat but was smooth enough to eat with every chip and not think it's spicy. We got 2 beer flights, each one we took a strawberry blonde, we even took it home in a six pack. That was by far my favorite drink, tried some seltzer too it was really good-2 Towns Cider. Will definitely come back when I'm in town again!

This is my favorite brewery in Astoria. The view is beautiful, love all the swag, and everything on the menu is delicious. I'm picky about my clam chowder because I hate a chowder that's so thin it's "clams in milk". Their chowder is thick and flavorful and has bacon. This time I ordered fish and chips and it was perfection. Finally, I should mention the staff is friendly and fast.

First time here. Great brew selection. Pilsner is quite good. Great friendly service and great ambiance, right on the banks of the Columbia River. They also have a great gift shop. Didn't try the food. Highly recommend.

Drove through Astoria on way to rockaway beach and this was the perfect lunch stop. The service was fast. You find a seat and go inside to order then they bring the food to you. We had two pups with us so we had to sit on the patio but it was great weather. The food came out fast and it was delicious. No tipping needed as it's included in pricing. That was different but cool. They had cool merchandise to purchase from the goonies. The inside was great atmosphere as well. Parking was pretty easy as well.

I always love going to a brewery that is named after the town and is in or something. The town is known for. This location is small and on one side of the plaza where we were unaware that the actual tap house to the brewery was on the opposite end of the plaza and much , much bigger. The smaller space is outfitted with a lot of wood decor and is more intimate , and it's setting with views of the water. They also have a large amount of Goonie merchandise for purchase that is related to all things beer. They also have a lot of local artwork on display that can be also purchased which I love to see small businesses working together.

Gotta update my review based on today's service with an unpleasant hostess on Saturday, October 11th, around noon. This young woman was snarky and short tempered with customers. It was unpleasant to witness and completely unacceptable. The restaurant was busy but not overwhelmed. Bummer. We like coming here for the tasty food, but rude, curt exchanges are not worth it. We're out.

flight was fine, like the glassware

Had an enjoyable experience when we stopped by for lunch. The beer was fine, perhaps not the most diverse menu, but I enjoyed my tastings on the flight. I really liked the food actually - the fish options were great, very tasty, well executed, delicious. I had the salmon cobb salad which was filling and the fish was great. Loved the extensiveness of the toppings. Very relaxed vibe, great river views, would definitely return. Had a good time.

I love this brewery and we make a point to eat every time we visit Astoria. Food is always fresh and very good. Big long tables to share so you could be sitting with people anywhere in the world! Also like the no tipping rule.

My wife and I were in Portland and took a drive up to where The Goonies live and we were going to have a later dinner, so we stopped at this place my sister liked and got a beer and my brother-in-law and I split a cheese fondue. My sister got clam chowder and loved it as well as the couple of beers we got to wash it down. I got a couple of IPAs, and they were delish. We had a great view of the water in the open-air restaurant and our service was very friendly. The fondue was super gooey and we had apple slices to dip into them, as well as some perfect pita slices. Highly recommended.

Inside counter area - ordering queue and seating at the bar

With so many mixed reviews, I really didn't know what to expect at this restaurant but the group I was with had chosen this place for lunch so I didn't really have a choice (out-numbered by the gang!). My go-to is fish & chips so that's what I ordered... and I was not disappointed! The pieces of fish were huge - the guy at the counter said they were a filet each - and the fries so plentiful, I could not eat them all. There were 18 people in our group and the staff sat us in the saloon area. However, only moments after sitting down, they came back and told us there were tables now open near the windows. So we relocated to the main dining room with a nice view of the Columbia River. What a treat that was! My fish and chips were perfectly cooked - both were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The servers were great! With 18 people showing up with no notice, they were polite, attentive to our every request, fast at delivering food and fast to pick up our plates when we were finished. Others ordered cheeseburgers, Reuben sandwiches, more fish & chips, and all members of my group said their food was very good. Yes, you have to order at the counter but servers were able to find each and every one of us, even though we'd moved from one room to another. Kudos to the staff! The frosting on the cake for me is that this restaurant is revenue-sharing so tipping was not allowed, even though some of us tried to tip them anyway. Way to go, Astoria Brewing!

Hazelnut salad with blue cheese & cranberries

It's not a trip to the beach without fish & chips! We ended up here after bike riding with friends. Astoria Brewing used to be called the Wet Dog. It's still the same owner . I got my obligatory fish & chips and my husband had a hazelnut salad with cranberries & blue cheese. They use rockfish here, which is one of my favorites for f&c. It's flakey and tender and not as firm as halibut. I enjoyed it but the cook was slightly over. It could've come out of the fryer a minute earlier. Chips were great. Tarter was yum but coleslaw was lackluster. My husband liked his salad. One of our friends also ordered the f & c and her husband got a wrap sandwich and onion rings, which were fine.

Service was kind, attentive, and friendly! Gave a very local, down to earth vibe. Great location on the pier with near by parking. Drinks and food are ordered at the front counter and brought out to you. They have wide range of beer on tap, but I did not recognize any cider or non-alcoholic options on tap. The mini tacos were actually so flavorful. I normally don't like pork, which were on the tacos, but I could have eaten all three of these. They were also street taco sized and could easily be a meal on its own.

Awkwardly rude service from the moment we walked in. We came for dinner and left after being seated to find food elsewhere.

I really wanted to love this coffee shop I even strayed from my go to. The shop is beautiful and in a great location. I loved the view, plants and vibrate colors. I had high hopes my latte was going to be outstanding. I did my research the owners have several years working as baristas at notable coffee shops in Oregon. They love coffee and love making coffee. I was really looking forward to a delicious latte with housemade caramel syrup. To my disappointment my latte was scalding hot guessing 160 degrees. You know it's this temp when you can't hold your paper cup comfortably without a sleeve. Also, heating to this temperature causes the proteins to break down, burns the lactose, turning natural sweetness into bitter, scalded flavors. Overheating also degrades micro-foam and numbs your tongue, masking the subtle tasting notes of the espresso. And sadly, it also diminished the Martha Stuart inspired housemade caramel syrup into nothing. Basically I got a scalded milk latte. I was charged 1.00 for caramel syrup that I didn't taste. When the latte finally cooled down I could taste the butter from the syrup but no hint of sweetness. FYI a housemade caramel syrup latte should only be heated to 140 degrees (googled it). So, go for the views, the pastries and perhaps a drip coffee. They have plenty of seating for groups of 2-4.

It was absolutely outstanding! Every ingredient felt incredibly fresh and vibrant. The rich flavors of the grilled tempeh and the perfect tang of the sauerkraut paired beautifully with the hearty, fresh-baked rye. The service was also wonderful and incredibly thoughtful--they noticed we were sharing and kindly split the sandwich into two separate plates for us before bringing it out, which we truly appreciated. The only downside was the iced tea, which unfortunately tasted quite watered down and lacked flavor. Aside from that, it's a fantastic spot. If you're exploring the historic streets of Astoria and looking for high-quality, conscious food, this place is definitely worth a visit!

It was a quest to locate and stop by the Columbia River Coffee Roasters while in Astoria, OR…read more We had sampled a coffee liqueur from Adrift Distillery in Long Beach, WA and had a mocha from Seaview Biscuit Company in Seaview, WA. Both sites had collaborated or specifically featured their roasted coffee beans. Their parking lot is located beneath the Astoria Bridge and across the street from the Finnish Brotherhood Building. I noted from the exterior this was the former Finnish Meat Market. Strong Scandinavian vibes while visiting Astoria. Upon entering we were warmly greeted by a very personable staff member. We enjoyed chatting with her. The site combined both retail and production roastery with a great bright interior facing the busy thoroughfare. There's merch available, including coffee beans. (Face palm, I forgot to buy some and get a business sticker!) Note: there are no espresso beverages available. However, featured instead are drip, nitro cold brew, and sparkling lemonade. Plus there are outstanding Thundermuck chocolate truffles. The nitro cold brew topped with cream was smooth and on point. The strawberry lemonade was refreshing. The truffles were quite remarkable. Overall, a terrific experience and glad to have located this Columbia River Coffee Roaster site. Business hours are 9am-2pm Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday.
