Enjoyed the food, fresh fish, good taste, there was only one chef and 1 server when we came but the service was fast. Nice ambiance. clean and cozy. we ordered the 3 combination tray which comes with soup, salad and 3 choices of menu- sushi, sashimi and grilled teriyaki salmon.

The food here is so good, I can't believe I've literally lived walking distance from this place for 35 years and just recently went in for the first time. It's not a huge restaurant so don't be discouraged if you have to wait. The service is very efficient, normally the wait times are not too bad. The staff at this place makes me like it even more. They are so kind and really go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. After coming just a couple of times they remembered us and even remembered my mothers exact order to a T. I work a lot of weekends and this is kind of become my mothers Saturday night go to. She barely has to walk in the door and they are already getting started on her order. They know she likes to get one extra salad dressing on the side, and they always make sure she has everything she needs.

I was looking for good Japanese restaurant in the area and found this hidden gem. All the staff were friendly and explained in detail every single question I have asked. The food/atmosphere was excellent. Ama-ebi was the bomb and highly recommended anyone. I will definitely come back later.

This sushi spot is great for people who love high quality sushi/sashimi! The chef always has high quality sushi and it comes out perfect every time. The Otoro tuna and jumbo scallops are a must try!

Great local sushi hangout. It's nice and quiet. Staff is friendly and attentive. Not too busy which I don't understand why.

Had some good sushi. Parking lot was packed from all the restaurants nearby. Great little spot on Fairmont. Call to go or come in and enjoy. It's a little pricey but fresh and delicious! Got the California roll, a crunch roll and Philadelphia roll with garlic edamame Yum!

Food and service was good. Price wise I was little shocked. I ordered a bento box (3 combination) for $30. The presentation was immaculate (came on a HUGE bowl) but I'm not sure if this meal was worth $30.

I haven't been here for a long time. I used come here but last experience was horrible experience with a server. The food was amazing but the service was even better. My Shushi master Beau took care me as if he was my little brother. He was absolutely beyond my expectation. Sorry that I forgot to take more pictures. Please see the photos of his masterpieces. I used owns a very high end sushi restaurant so I know what to expect. They also serve a Japanese beer I've never seen before.called Echigu Beer. You will love it.

Was passing through this town and stopped here for dinner for the first time. It seems there's a new owner that everyone is complaining about in these reviews. Seems like old hags that typically don't like change. Our dinner overall was good. The service was prompt, the food came out at a decent speed and tasted FRESH. I know people like to use that word alot in sushi bars, but most of them don't know what that truly means. Everything tasted like it was prepared then and there. No overnight frozen or preprepared filet fish or old rice. The tuna, kanpachi, yellowtail and halibut carpaccio, mountain and albacore fire roll, even chicken and beef was good quality. Not cheap cuts. My only gripe is that the location seems old, can use some new flooring and seating but other than that we will be back.

Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and seated right away and throughout my meal I was always followed up and checked on to make sure I was being accommodated for serviced. It's a very small Mom pop shop that can probably hold no more than 30 people comfortably. I ordered the vegetable soon tofu soup along with the Chicken Jikhwa Vegetable soon tofu soup - 5/5 came up perfectly hot and maintain its heat from the cable that I was in. It complemented with the Bonchon so well I kept going back for more. You can change the level of spice. I made mine spicy, and it was perfect for my pallet not too salty, which is accommodating to my pallet as well. Chicken Jikhwa - 4/5 was more on the sweeter side due to the caramelized onion, but overall the flavor was on plate. I really like how it was packed with flavor and with the tofu soup, it balanced each other very well since it's more overpowering with flavor than the tofu soup. The only thing I wish it was served on is a cast-iron plate or something to keep the meat, hot or warm longer lasting. I just love eating the Bonchon along with this because it gave a pickled and acidic complement.

Once the whole party was seated & our order was taken, we received our delicious ginger salad and miso soup quickly. When our chef arrived he was ready to put on a show! He was so fun, engaging and very genuine. All of the food was amazing. I got the filet mignon steak w/ fried rice and my husband gets the sumo steak. The filet mignon is definitely worth it but if you prefer more meat, the sumo steak is the way to go. The drinks are affordable and compared to other teppanyaki places, the food is affordable and absolutely worth it. They also offer a happy hour in the dining room only - does not include the teppanyaki grill area. Truly one of our favorite places!!

3.5/5 Stars - Nice Experience, But Some Service and Timing Issues…read more We visited Tabi-Ji Teppanyaki for my husband's birthday and had an overall decent experience, though there were a few things that would make us think twice before returning. We chose the dining room seating rather than the teppanyaki tables. The staff did offer us the teppanyaki experience, but since we don't eat red meat or chicken from certain places and weren't sure how the food preparation process worked with mixed ingredients, we opted for a regular table instead. One downside was the seating arrangement. We were seated away from most of the other guests, and it often felt like the staff forgot we were there. Our original host/server was attentive and friendly, but once they were busy with other tasks, it became difficult to get assistance. It was also not busy for a Tuesday evening. We found ourselves waiting for long periods or having to wave someone down, which wasn't ideal, especially for a birthday dinner. As for the food: * Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll (4/5): Fresh, good quality fish, and a generous portion. A solid sushi roll. * Garlic Edamame (4/5): Flavorful and exactly what you'd expect from a good appetizer. * Lobster Duo with Miso Soup, Salad, and Fried Rice (3/5): Unfortunately, the lobster was quite chewy and seemed overcooked. The miso soup and fried rice were both enjoyable and helped make up for it. * Unagi Donburi (4/5): My husband's meal came with white rice, miso soup, salad, and fried rice. It was his first time trying eel, and he really enjoyed the soft texture and flavor. He said he'd definitely order it again. Our biggest disappointment was the timing of the food. The Unagi Donburi arrived significantly later than everything else. By the time it came out, we had already eaten most of the appetizers and other dishes and were pretty full. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a dish that would have been much better enjoyed fresh, but we ended up taking most of it home. Overall, the food ranged from good to very good, and being able to reserve through Resy and use our Amex dining benefit definitely helped offset the cost. However, considering the price point, we expected more attentive service and better pacing of the meal.

I've heard how creative they get with these rolls, and with Purple colored rice I really had to try it... I was pretty indecisive at first, but I settled on their shishito peppers to start and they were nice enough to bring a little side salad out which by the way tasted amazing (I think it's the sumi salad on a small scale). The sauce for the peppers was wonderfully done, it wasn't drenched and I could taste everything with a good balance. The seared yellowtail roll was soft, melted in your mouth and the other roll had Wahoo in it, I'm forgetting the name but both were very neatly presented, and had a burst of flavor.
