I really enjoyed the food and service here. The fish was incredibly fresh and they give you GIANT portions of fish in the sashimi platter. My parents and I split the large platter, avocado lobster crab rolls, and spicy garlic edamame, and were stuffed! We could have skipped the appetizers because the fish was so filling. The service was attentive and even though they were short a sushi chef, they didn't provide slow service at all. They also perfectly timed our Togo order to the end of the meal. My last review was 10 years ago & we are still loyal customers. We have been coming here for over 17 years. Our kids have grown up loving FITB - mainly because of familiarity perhaps, but it always feels like home to us. The owner's kids, the busser, and the chefs (mainly Jose) know us and we know them. Quality is always satisfying and it makes the 30+ minute drive there worth it. During our last visit we met a group that drove in from San Fernando Valley to eat here. This local spot that is no longer local to us, continues to be a nostalgic space for us. It will always be our favorite. read more

This is a seriously great restaurant. I recently hosted my Dinner Club here and it was outstanding. I came here 20 years ago with my husband, so I was still amazed how great the food was. All the Dinner guests agreed that this was phenomenal. The Shrimp Tempura, the Tempura Combo, the Teriyaki Chicken, the Rib eye , the salads were all fabulous. Service was terrific. Fish in a Bottle is by far my favorite and super close to my community which is convenient when I get the craving. I love the salmon skin roll extra crispy. The location is small so big parties should definitely call ahead to make sure they can accommodate you. Eunice, Steven, Jose and the whole staff are always welcoming and ready to serve you something yummy which I appreciate. We came here tonight for my dad's birthday and had a really disappointing experience. Only half of our sodas came out, and we had to ask multiple times for refills -- one Diet Coke refill never came at all. We ordered 10 rolls and waited about 1.5 hours, only for them all to come out at the exact same time. We could see them stacking up at the sushi bar, but nothing was brought to us until every roll was finished. I've never experienced that at a sushi restaurant before. First of all, five stars go to Eunice, our server (greeter)! We arrived upon lunch opening, got our water and ordered very quickly because our friend had to get on the road. As per usual, our food was outstanding. The three of us ordered tuna ala tostada, stuffed mussels and the stuffed chicken breast. All three were beautifully plated and outstandingly delicious. This is my family's usual place to get sushi rolls. I picked up 4 rolls last evening. The rice in all the rolls was very mushy. I could not taste any rice vinegar in my roll. The 2 Dragon rolls had a watery soy sauce, rather than the thick unagi sauce. The filling inside the roll was more mayonnaise than crab meat. No avocado in the rolls. My daughter who got the Baja roll said her roll was not good. My husband who got the Rainbow roll said his was not that good, either. Walked out of this neighborhood restaurant at 6 PM on a weeknight after waiting at the register watching a young man clean up his counter area without acknowledging I was standing in front of him until I waved at him and he said yes it'll be just a minute, if this restaurant does not need my business I can go somewhere else. When I called back to speak with a manager the same young man claimed to be David and said he was the store manager. I liked the Crunch Crunch Roll, but did not care for the sauce on top, which was a bit spicy for me. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki with steamed vegetables and a carrot/ginger rice, which wasn't to my liking. It tasted like soap to me. I would've preferred to have white or brown rice instead. My general observation is that the quality of the fish is just ok and the preparation needs improvement. I noticed the fish was sliced inconsistently. Some were very thin and some there thicker. First time here. Got the sushi and sashimi special. It comes with 3 different sashimi, I asked if I could make it all salmon, they said no, then I asked is there a way I can pay extra to make it all salmon, then again she said no. So at this point I was second guessing if I should just leave or give it a shot. Anyway I was already here, wasn't gonna waste more time out of my lunch. The plate got here, and it looked nice. The Tuna was good, as well as the salmon, as usual buttery. However when I got to the albacore, it was sour, I explained that it had a weird sour taste if I could get it replaced with tuna or salmon. They said they would try a different batch, I said I guess. Let's give it a try. They bring the other two slices. It taste the same, however they claim it was from a different batch... I didn't wanna bother them again by telling them it tasted the same, so I just sucked it up and hat it with a lot of sauce and Wasabi to ignore the sour taste. Over all, price wasn't too high, but honestly not worth getting sick over it. I will update if I end up getting sick from this sashimi. $16 for miso soup, Cali roll, and some sour sashimi. This review would of been different if they would of changed the fish to something else as I requested, as I felt they lied to my face with "well grab it from another batch" when it tasted just as sour. If the manager or hostest, or waitress is reading this, please trust the customer a little more, I heard you guys by the hosts area.
