For a place that specializes in banhmi, this place is severely lacking (for my non Vietnamese taste buds). How can you be a banhmi shop and your daikon and carrots aren't pickled? Or are they pickled but so mildly so they just tasted like raw veggies? Either way, I wouldn't be back...the sandwiches were very much lacking in flavor due to the non pickle-ness of the veggies and also they were so finely shredded they had no bite. Hey! A banh mi shop in Haltom City! Came in this past weekend to try this place out. Being that it's still new, the interior was clean and decorated in modern decor. The space is tight with just a few tables and several chairs to sit on while you wait for your order. The cashier was nice and friendly and spoke perfect English (for non-Viet people). I like that there is finally a decent banh mi shop near our home. We usually get the combination sandwiches and those never disappoint us. The other sandwiches (fish cake, pate pork roll) taste the same as getting a combination sandwich. The chicken teriyaki is good but not significant enough for me to order again. I'll just stick with our typical combination sandwiches! They don't skimp out on the meats, pate, or veggies (they do add a generous amount of cilantro) The bread is not too hard or too soft. I am not super picky when it comes to banh mi. I do like how she uses butter in the rolls. The lady always makes it fresh for us. We usually like to call in our order as we drive there to pick it up (we order 4-8 sandwiches at a time). The sugar cane drink is very good. They do add in a citrus element into it (orange?), but it is not overpowering at all, and is really refreshing. I'm not sure if you can request for no citrus, but we will try to ask next time. I stopped here for lunch yesterday and ordered a banh mi combination and a cherimoya smoothie. First thing I noticed was that the banh mi sandwiches were all premade and just sitting on the counter. I dont know how long they were sitting there. The sandwich was at room temperature. Normally, I wouldnt eat it because it isnt freshly made and it has butter and pate in it which can go bad if left outside for too long. I was hungry and adventurous yesterday. The sandwich did not have very much meat in it. The taste just felt like something is missing. The smoothie itself had more condensed milk in it then the fruit that was blended in to make the smoothie. Felt like I was drinking a condesed milk smoothie. Price wise, it cost the same as any other banh mi shop. They do have a special though.. buy 3 get 1 free. Think if they combine the meats from all 4 it would probably taste better. I stopped into this place on a whim and I'm so glad I did. I've tried banh mi 's before but was generally disappointed. I thought that had to do with the pate and my palate not agreeing. This place proved me wrong! First off, the bread was phenomenal... like really really good. The carrots and cilantro were fresh and the jalapeno added a good bite without being overwhelming.
