It brings back memories for me and reminds me of how my dad buys me a banh mi whenever we go out or he's driving home from work. The price has stayed roughly $5-6 a banh mi which is so good. I'm glad to see they are consistent with price and quality. It is super cheap compared to most of the other banh mi places these days. They also have a ton of other Vietnamese items like eggrolls, spring rolls, viet braised pork belly, bubble tea, and more! Came here on a weekend to grab some banh mi to-go. By the time I went, there were already a lot of people in line ordering. The lines do move fast though. I got the #2 combo banh mi and decided to get some fresh spring roll as well. The store was small but had a lot of foods displayed on metal counters to grab and go. Don't be like me who came on an empty stomach and bought whatever looks good. Overall, the banh mi sandwich was okay with a fair price of $5.50. They stuffed a lot of meats in the sandwich, which gave you your money's worth. However, the bread was just okay. Wish it was a bit crunchier. I did noticed they had a lot of breads already bagged on a rack, with a plastic bag covered over it. Maybe that's why the bread lost its crispiness. The location is at the sketchy part of chinatown where most of the homeless reside, so be careful when walking by yourself. There's a parking lot on the side of the building for peace of mind. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed! Took us a few tries to get a parking spot in their little lot. When we were in the store, it was pretty crowded (not too many viets). Tons of variety and premade dishes, hot items, and desserts. Also a good selection of made-to-order banh mi. We got a dessert drink and some banh mis. Banh mi ($5-6). Huge sandwich stuffed with all the standard goodies. A fair amount of meat too! What makes these banh mis better is that their bread is nicely toasted and they sprinkle on some salt + pepper. I worked at the Seattle Indian Center. My daughter was in daycare here. Lunchtime, I would come get her and load her up in the stroller for our favorite lunch spot. Wonderul array of bahn me sandwiches here. All freshly made and ready to eat, We ordered lovely crusty bread rolls smeared with pate, mayo, Asian ham, pickled vegetables, green onion, coriander/cilantro, fresh chillies and sprinkle of special seasoning. The pickled vegetables gave a boost of flavor to the sandwich. And gave us the sense of eating healthy. Love the spring rolls here, fresh and crunchy. Lots of sandwich choices, but we liked grilled chicken and grilled pork choices. I love fish, so a sardine fish in tomato sauce is welcome. Also, Vietnamese meatball sandwiches are great, some with grilled tofu. Need to add Vietnamese coffee and a bean dessert with coconut to the order, to make sure all appetizing points are covered. Great place to grab some banh mi's and misc treats. You get a lot of bang for your buck. You get a lot of selection here from meatballs to banh mi's to little desserts. There's also other savory dishes so I'd recommend trying some out! The vietnamese sandwiches(banh mis) used to be about 5 dollars but with inflation they bumped it up 50 cents. This staple of the international district is a great place for locals to grab a cheap lunch that is also delicious and filling. The parking lot is kind of terrible though. There's major potholes so you'll need to be careful when driving around here. The people here are nice though! You can't beat great service, value for the money, wide selection, and amazing flavors. I was on a Road trip in Seattle Craved for Banh mi and found Saigon Deli. Much to my delight, I ended up spending $143 worth of ToGo Food. I pretty much got everything from Banh mi, to hot foods, and desserts. Although it's located in a sketchy area of downtown Seattle, the Food offerings is worth the shot....Just remember to have someone be on the lookout for abnormal activities around you & the parking lot. I think for the price, it's still good but for a bit more, some other places have more meat in their filling. I feel like the bread to meat ratio is high but this is typical of bahn mi places. I would say Saigon Deli has the best banh mi's I've had in Seattle. Take that statement with a grain of salt - I haven't had many in Washington. But this sandwich was just jam packed with goodness. My wife and I ordered: #1 banh mi - grilled pork #2 banh mi - ham 3 way Additional sticky rice side dish with sausage and shallots I don't have photos to share, but that's because I devoured my sandwich. The bread was crispy, as it should be, and the sandwich itself was generously packed with pork, cilantro, and veggies. There's this amazing sauce that adds a sweetness to the banh mi that was so good too. I had a bite of my wife's banh mi and it was also really good. And for the price, you really can't beat it. It doesn't look super big, but it definitely filled me up. The sticky rice dish was also really nice and simple. There's so many options to choose from, and everything looked really good. Holy crap, this place was solid. This place can be easily missed, as it lies in the shadows of Pho Bac, but man it's worth getting. Saigon Deli is on Jackson with its own parking lot. I've gone on-and-off over the years, often preferring other nearby Vietnamese deli over this one. I decided to return, and came away with slightly different conclusions. The staff is still as indifferent as I remember. We went at 5:45, 15 min before closing. They took our banh mi order quickly but appeared annoyed that we wanted to buy more things. Weird... The Food: #2 Ham Combo Banh Mi - 5 Stars Their combo has the cross section that I like in a banh mi. The bread is properly compressed. The veggies are not dominated by carrots. Daikon all the way! #5 Tofu Banh Mi - 4 Stars The tofu is quite flavorful. It's not as well stuffed as the ham combo though. I would still order it though. Bánh Bò Nớng (Vietnamese Pandan Honeycomb Cake) and another pastry that I don't know the name - 1 Star I've had quite a few Bánh Bò Nớng elsewhere that are flavorful with a nice spongey bounce. These were flat without much flavor. These other one is no better. Definitely not buying these again. A variation of Che Ba Mau, 3-color dessert - 3 Stars Normally, a Che Ba Mau has yellow mung bean paste, red beans, and green pandan jelly, topped with coconut milk. This one is like an jello version of this dessert. It has its own charms, if you like jello or almond jello. At least I ate it, instead of pawning it off on hubby, unlike the above pastries. Egg roll - 4 Stars Don't call it a spring roll. He actually snapped at me that it's an egg roll (I think not...). It's well stuffed and pretty tasty. I walked into this place to pickup lunch on a weekday and boy was it busy! I noticed how popular their hot bar was (10+ people in line!) so I decided to go for that. My SO and I each got a lunch box that came with two entrees and lo mein ($8 each). There are no labels on any of the food, and the staff spoke minimal English, but we were able to get by with pointing at what looked good. I got a spicy chicken and a stir fry beef/peppers, and my SO got meatballs and a tofu/eggplant stir fry. The spicy chicken was very yummy, but all the chicken was bone-in and skin on which made it hard to eat. The stir fry beef/peppers was my favorite - very tasty with lemon grass and some other herbs that I wasn't able to identify. The meatballs were also yummy and came with a tomato-y sauce (but not the kind of Italian meatballs of course). The tofu/eggplant stir fry was a bit oily but overall good - a sweet soy sauce. The portions were LITERALLY HUGE - I ate it for two lunches in a row!! Overall: cheap quick Vietnamese hot food at the bar. HUGE lunch special with 2 entrees for $7-8. I've heard really good things about this Vietnamese deli market from my friends, especially my Vietnamese friends. If they're saying these great things, it must be amazing, right? LOL. Well, I made it my mission to make a trip down here the first time I've heard about it. And have been returning since! It's located across of Pho Bac Sup and The Boat on S Jackson St in Little Saigon. There's a small parking lot on the side of the shop for customers to park at (thankfully). People can just come and go quickly without having to worry about parking! I've been here a few times to grab cheap Vietnamese eats such as their cha lua (pork rolls wrapped in banana leaves) and banh beo with either dried shrimp or mung beans. Ugh, soooo good. I especially loved their cha lua as I was able to cook or eat it with my other meals. There's a variety of premade snacks/foods, made-to-order banh mis, and hot foods. Quick and easy for a grab'n go experience! My most recent visit was to grab some banh mi as my boyfriend and I were doing a loooong road trip down to San Diego. I thought it would be the perfect meal during our trip down. And they were! I ordered the Banh Mi Thit Nguoi (three types of ham) and my boyfriend had the Banh Mi Thit Nuong (grilled pork). We weren't able to eat them fresh, but they were surprisingly still really good. Like crazy good. I can't imagine how great they'll taste fresh! Definitely hits my top five banh mi place I've been. The prices for banh mi everywhere else have been quite pricey but this shop makes deliciously cheap ones that were under $7! And they were huge! What a steal! Located in ID Chinatown this place is the go to deli of my childhood. If you are looking for banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) look no further. This place is legit. They have hot foods, desserts, snacks, fresh bows / buns, fresh spring rolls, drinks and a parking lot. First of all free parking in ID is UNHEARD of, so I do not take this for granted. Prices are super affordable and they got a great selection of foods. My grandparents lived in ID and as a kid, we would always order banh mi sandwiches from here and eat them with our cousins in my grandparents apartment. The meat is very flavorful and the bread is a perfect consistency. Not too hard where it scratches the top of your mouth and not too soft so it gets swashed in your hand, french bread that they have is right in the middle. I also love their jelly desserts in the fridge section. Usually comes in a cup with green (pandan), brown (coffee) & white (coconut) layers! Perfect little to go treat! They also have selections of Chè - pink drink with lots of delicious jellies and fruits inside. Prepackaged sweet sticky rice is also available. Came here thinking there would be lots of ready to go food options here but that was not the case. There was only springrolls which I ended up getting. I looked at their menu to see if there was other food options besides banh mi and it didn't seem like their was. There was the food behind the counter but I did not know what some of them were and they didn't not look so appealing. I wish there was more signage as to what was available and what they could provide besides banh mi. It seemed like some people knew how to order other things that I did not see available. As for the spring roll itself. It didn't seem fresh. The wrap was semi hard upon eating it as well as old green veggies seemed to have been used. Overall was not a fan of here.
