I was new to this salon and filled out a form online for a haircut. I received an email that same day about scheduling. I promptly replied to the email and scheduled an appointment. When I arrived they told me they didn't have my appointment because I never responded to confirm. That wasn't true. I showed them my email confirmation but no one seemed to care. My problem is that I found the whole team to be quite rude and unapologetic. They acted like the scheduling error was my fault despite me showing my emails. I moved to Houston two years ago not knowing anyone and was fortunate to happen across Hair by Saint Rose online and set up an appointment with Timothy not long after. From the moment you walk in, you just feel so taken care of. I love indulging in a glass of champagne in this beautiful space while I wait for my appointment. The washroom is a spa like retreat with relaxing decor and soothing music. Most importantly, catching up with Timothy from the salon chair is always something I look forward to. Those few hours I spend there every so often have really made my life in Houston better, especially through the first few months. I made an appt with Ramir weeks ago. I had called in to see who would be able to do my type of hair & wanted to go with someone who was supposed to be a higher level colorist. Ramir was recommended & I actually ended up speaking to Ramir over the phone about my hair. I told him exactly how I've been getting my hair done for 13 years & he said it wasn't a problem so I booked an appointment with him. Also, you have to give a credit card to hold your appointment which they will charge if you cancel day off. So when I arrived I spoke to Ramir about my hair, again just like how I did over the phone. He asked me to give him a minute. He walked away then after like 10 minutes he came back saying he doesn't feel comfortable doing my hair plus they only booked him 30 mins & he said my hair would take longer. This is extremely unprofessional. He seemed comfortable over the phone when I told him ever detail about how I do my hair but all of a sudden now he's not. He had the owner Timothy come over to say the same thing & that there is really nothing they can do. Like who has inexperienced hair colorists working for salons this is ridiculous. If he couldn't do it then the owner should have or found someone who could have but instead they were ok leaving me in a situation. I'm going away in 2 days, I had to take out all my hair extensions prior to my appointment, treat my hair & put my scalp balm on to protect from scalp from bleaching all in preparation for my appt & I was supposed to have my hair cut in 2 days which I do after my appt. This was such a huge inconvenience & so unprofessional. This salon should not be in business or they should at least downgrade to a lower level salon for basic hair. I would not recommend this salon at all. Do I get a fee for them cancelling on me the day of? Oh wait that's only if I cancel the day of. What a joke! read more

My favorite would be the shampoo room, it is so zen that I tend to want to fall asleep every time I get my hair washed. Love the little touch they put into it when they bring out your coffee or tea . I was referred by a friend to see Richard at Saint Rose and thank god I did!! I had been using box color on my hair for years and was reaping the negative side effects on my hair (brittle, damaged, uneven color). I pulled the trigger and made an appointment. The salon sent me notifications after booking making the scheduling process easy and seamless. Upon arrival I was greeted by a friendly lady at the front desk. I have to mention, the decor is sooo cute! Very Instagram worthy, if that's your thing. Once in the chair, Richard did an initial consultation where we discussed what issues I was having, what I wanted, and what we could do considering the state of my hair. Because I wanted to go lighter with highlights and had years of dark box color, he performed a strand test on the underside of my head to ensure the integrity of my hair wouldn't be compromised. I passed the strand test! Woohoo! Richard started hand painting my hair like some kind of artistic genius. I'm talking paint brush, Saran Wrap, the whole shabang! After sitting under the lamp for the color to activate, we were off to the wash station. This part may not seem like much, but to my surprise: it was a massage chair!! No complaints here. That was an added touch I never knew I always wanted and needed amidst a prestigious salon experience. ‍ After the toner, wash, and scalp massage we where headed back to the chair. This is where the magic happened. Richard managed to cut the dead ends of my hair while still maintaining the length and layered style I always long for. I should note, my hair grows at a glacial pace so maintaining length is super important to me. He brought my mane back to life!! The blow out and style was the BEST my hair has ever looked! I walked out with a pep in my step and a newfound confidence I've never had before. And thank goodness for dry shampoo because I enjoyed that blow out for a few days, iykyk! LOL! Today was my first time at the Hair by Saint Rose salon. Albeit I've been a loyal customer with Bunmi Bush for a little over four years now and naturally followed her to her new salon home. Timothy, salon owner, made sure to personally greet me as it was my first time at his establishment. Gave the experience a very personalized touch. The decor is very mid-century chic from the furniture, art and even down to the music (think old school jazz classics like Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole). Upon arrival I was greeted by a very friendly gentleman who proceeded to prepare a tea tray with honey, proper tea and biscotti (all served on a beautiful tray using vintage china). The most relaxing part of my experience was the shampoo/wash area which was quietly tucked away in the back corner of the salon (also a picturesque 1950s home-turned-business that defines the West University/Rice Village area). The ambience was relaxing with spa-like music in the background. Overall very happy with my experience with my longtime hair stylist at her new salon home. Recommend! read more

I found Emma in 2020, after my hair had grown for over a year without cutting while most of us were trying to safe during the first waves of COVID. What sets Emma apart for me is that not only do I leave the salon feeling like a million bucks after she professionally dries and styles my hair, but more importantly it's that her cuts hold up with no styling. I have thick, coarse, hair so my hair has a mind of its own, but somehow with Emma's precision layering, even if I just wash and air dry my hair, I can still look presentable. I have been seeing Timothy since 2013, following him to multiple salons over the years. I currently live in NYC but now my job takes me to Houston every few months. Even though I have access to some of the country's best salons, I specifically plan hair appointments with Tim around the times I have to travel to Houston for work. Although I can only assume its because you became increasingly scathing when I refused to take down my review, per your request. It's been so long since I did a big cut and part of the reason is because finding a stylist that knows your hair (like Sarah knew mine) is sometimes a task. Hair that needed several sessions was brightened and blended perfectly in one sitting. It was a 5 hour sitting but absolutely no detail was missed. I left with my favorite kerestase products and even rebooked for my maintenance so that I don't end up in the long overdue situation that I found myself in this time. First of all, I loved my end result! I went here for my bridal hair style. I wanted clip in extensions to make my hair longer in a braid. To be honest, the lack of communication given to me from this salon was sad. Especially for the price. And because the people that work there are technically nice. The owner had to call me back after over a week of no response. Then after my consultation, I was contacted a week later when I was told I would be called that same day. I was told it was because of the tropical storm, which cannot be true. I live in Houston. I know when we were under weather watch. I just don't understand how people can treat paying customers as if they are a bother. It's a nice salon, but I didn't even get what I wanted. The stylist that worked with me had to get someone else to braid my hair. I cannot understand. No perks were given, no apologies or explanations.
