I had the chicken shwarma over half turmeric rice and half salad, added the eggplant (must get), pickled cabbage, sumac onions, hummus, garlic cream, and topped with spicy tahini. They give you a free lentil based soup at lunch which is delicious. This all comes out to a lot of food, more than i could finish in one sitting, and actually it was the only thing i ate all day. Sajj is my go-to when I need a quick, delicious meal. Food is prepped Chipotle style so service is quick, and it's never been crowded when I go (usually weekday evenings). I always get the Chicken Shawarma salad or rice bowl which I definitely recommend - meat portions are generous, and you can choose as many toppings as you want (Cauliflower and eggplant are my personal favorites). Aside from bowls, their pita chips are made in house and flavored SO WELL so make sure you get them for free with Yelp check in, and there's also a free soup that comes with every meal. read more

I recently came across this new joint in Sunnyvale downtown. I went here more of an accident, but I am so glad that I stumbled upon this place. The people here so amicable and it feels really good to go here every time. The joint is add what you like a Mediterranean bowl/wrap place. You pick your carbs, greens, protein, dressings and any extras toppings you might want to add, and there are a lot of toppings to chose from. Their SHAWAFEL is a delight that everyone should definitely try out. All of their greens, toppings, and protein seem very fresh and really great treat for your taste buds. I have gotten freshly made falafels on a few occasions I have been here. They make falafels in small batches so that they can keep the freshness intact. Really.. really... not good. I wouldn't say as bad as a 1 star where I hate their guts bad, but I definitely won't ever order from here again. To be fair, i had this as a to go order, so maybe the food got cold and wasn't in its best condition so i'll call that out right in the beginning. But the food we were only 2 miles away so by the time we got the food, it was room temperature and the amount of sauce they put on our dish was WAYYYYY overboard so it tasted more like sauce than the actual meat and rice underneath. it was drenched and i could barely taste anything else. The guy approved to help me with my order. VERY RUDE!!! It's hit or miss. I've visited 3 times in the last few months. The first visit it was okay, I liked it but I wouldn't consider it my favorite place. Second visit it was phenominal, and I couldn't wait to come back. Good proportions. The meat is tender and moist. The sauces are great. Overall, just a great meal, worth every penny. Third visit, complete disappointment. An entire bowl was missing from the order. I usually get the shawafel and it was good before but this t one of the seasonings on the chicken was way overpowering. It was like the lid of their seasoning shaker fell off and the whole bottles contents saturated the meat. I didn't think it was a huge deal, I could still eat the food though it wasn't enjoyable. So I move on to the falefel and it was like the same exact thing. One of the seasonings was way overpowering rendering the food completely un-enjoyable. Hopefully it was just a bad day, but I'm skeptical of returning. After spending $40 on 3 bowls, missing one bowl and the food sucking anyway, it makes it hard to justify coming back. Update: Full disclosure: SAJJ ended up giving me credit for my experience and review, I decided to give it another shot cause free food. I was pleasantly surprised once again.
