I am reluctant to write raving reviews for... anything - because so often it happens that the place becomes successful.. and then they are not available! Sake O is such a treat.. when you finally find them. It's in an out-of-the-way place, and it looks dark from the outside at times. Excellent quality, beautiful sushi and Japanese specialties at a friendly price. Really such a treat, coming to Sake O. And a nice family operation, as well. "Famous Sushi Ran" in Sausalito is not as good as this place, in many ways. Take it from a family of foodies. read more

Love Sake O! Martini Prawns are a must, if you like spicy tuna sauce... yum! Other than that, the Edamame is a great start as well. Went for lunch and they actually weren't that busy. Service was terrible, no drink refills. My meal wasn't anything special, but it wasn't appetizing. I ordered the lemon chicken lunch special. I hate sending food back but I had to, I couldn't eat it, it tasted like Tyson frozen breaded chicken and they cut it up into pieces that reminds me of when my mom would cut up my food as a toddler. I ordered a roll instead, was not good. What happened, this use to be my go to sushi spot. read more

Enjoyed a Carburetor and a spicy tuna roll. Best carburetor in Sonoma County. Prices are reasonable. Very busy on Valentine's Day but we were served in a very timely manner. Only downside is the pre prep of the shrimp tempura and all rice sushi. read more

Service: had to wait to be seated, and have had to wait for to go orders on a weekday, Every time!! If you are a known customer, you get treated better with quicker service than a non-regular. Pushy and rude service, when you are waited on. Food: prawn appetizers look like Cisco or US Food pre made quality. And, to go potions, the quality is poor! 3 pieces of broccoli and not even a half of a wilted potatoes with 3 small carrots to go with teriyaki beef. The restaurant serving was twice as much. Price: WAY expensive give service and food provided. You don't have to charge high prices because it is located in Healdsburg with high tourism. Consistency would be nice! I won't go back, and they do not have my recommendation. I will go to windsor or santa rosa if I want Japanese food! read more

Great sashimi and sushi, lacking in service! The sashimi combo was fresh and 5 star quality. The sushi rolls were great, especially bathe Crazy Roll and Tokyo Roll. But the most unbelievable were the art pieces on the wall - especially the Wooly Mammoth 3-D painting - definitely a prize-winner from the Best Kitsch Museum in the World. read more

We were looking for a deviation from our wine trip menu and found this wonderful place. Patronize by locals, it had great handmade rolled sushi and an extensive sake menu. We also saw many carry out patrons! Definitely worth a visit. read more

The sushi is okay here. I had a hard time finding the place because it is set back from the street and not easy to spot when you're zooming by in your rental car. My clients brought with them an entire case of their own wine...the wine was yummy...and was specially selected...I wish I could appreciate alcohol more...I think that the restaurant should have been more gracious with the corkage fee...but then again, I didn't have to buy so I really can't complain! My clients actually picked up the tab!! Thank you clients! I gave them a discount off their service quote later....hehe...I'm not totally ungracious! read more

I like this place, especially since it means I can get good fish outside The City. The rolls are good, the Hamachi fresh and buttery, and the miso is not made from instant. I would knock off a star for the slow service but considering the place was packed and it was only one guy for the whole restaurant it wasn't too terrible. Fish at Sake O is more like you would expect in an airport or high-end supermarket than among the other fine restaurants in Healdsburg (though prices here are relatively high). Miso is oversalted, fish uninspired. Go if you *must* have sushi, but you can do much better going to Willie's or even better, Hana in Rohnert Park. read more

Sake O is a must enjoy for sushi lovers (or California roll lovers like myself) that are in the Healdsburg area. The fish is extremely fresh, the cuts of fish are pretty decent (not extravagant, but not paltry), and service is fast/friendly/attentive. Sake O is also located perfectly right at the cusp of downtown Healdsburg. They are a bit pricey, but that's too be expected for any tourist-dominated area. read more

Always great ,fresh sushi. Been here 4 or 5 times,martini shrimp is just excellent ,never had a disappointing roll either,teriyaki sauce that they use is one of the best I ever had.4 stats for back seating area not too well taken care of ,other than that no complaints, will be back for sure. read more

Absolutely horrible. The prices are outrageous for small portions. The waiter even admitted to us that the appetizer we were about to order was not fresh but frozen. If you are a sushi fanatic, like me, this place will disappoint you beyond belief. Healdsburg needs to get a better sushi joint STAT! You are much better off going to Big John's Market for sushi. read more

The nigeri in ponzu with jalapeno was delicious! Everyone else got combos and said they were delicious....the servings were HUGE.

I took my boyfriend there for dinner one Saturday night @6:30 and we've been there a few times, but this was the last straw. The place was nearly empty, maybe 3 or 4 people in there- and it took forever to get a menu, our beverage, and even to order! I guess I'm spoiled by Ume Bistro in Windsor, but I was too tired to drive there that night. The sushi is just that much better and the service is very attentive at Ume, that I was very bummed that we spent so much money on an otherwise forgettable meal. read more

The search for hot and new restaurants in Sonoma happens on a weekly basis and this place popped up as one of them for me at least. We were kindly greeted by the owner when we walked in explaining the process of ordering their sushi and how most of the ingredients were from locals. Right off the bat, I knew this place was going to be good because I sure do love fresh ingredients especially when it comes to hamachi and toro. This place is unique because they offer your common salmon and ahi tuna along with bass and two veggie protein options of tempeh and tofu! Living in Healdsburg it is difficult to find fresh fish, but this business has its connections to the best farms. I did find the brown rice to be a bit hard, but that doesn't change my opinion about the place. Please be sure to check out this place very well done! I'll be back again :) read more

I went Valentines day, in the heat of dinner time, and had a pretty poor experience. Once we finally got a table, which was fine for me to wait for as it was packed, it took 15 minutes to get menus, and another 20 minutes or more to order. We got drinks, apps, and food. Finally after much waiting, the sunomono came first (appetizer), then a while later the maki (sushi rolls), the spicy roll we ordered had no drink to quench the spice too. He later brought water with an assertion from us, and by the time we finished our rolls he brought our Kirin beers. I then reminded him I ordered miso soups to start. I ate that last. A very confusing night, but they were pretty understaffed. Pretty regular Japanese cuisine flavor. I would recommend Senju though, even as a Healdsburg native. read more

Normally when we go everything's amazing but I've noticed these past few months it's been declining hard. The foods not fresh, and tastes off and the service is awful. We waited for over an hour even though the server said it would be 20 minutes. Just overall a bad experience. Maybe they have new servers who haven't been trained right, honestly I'm not sure. We went here years ago a couple of times and then forgot about it. We went again last night and it was amazing. We can't remember why it fell off of our 'go to' list. The shumai and gyoza were melt in your mouth delicious. The rock and roll had such amazing umami, I could have eaten a bunch of those. The spider roll was also delicious. Most of the pieces are small and bite size, which I like...easier to eat. Took one star off for service; as others have noted it isn't the best. read more
