My go to sushi place! Generous portions on the lunch specials is a plus. Everything here is delicious.

Went there tonight at 8 pm. Restaurant not busy were able to get seated right away. Ordered one drink. Soup and salad arrived before my drink. The cook for hibachi had no enthusiasm forgot about vegetable tossing. Offered after we all had are food and then offered sake for the first time. I ordered chicken and lobster tail. My lobster tail tasted freezer burn and still had shells on it. When the waitress came and asked how it was I told her. She proceeded to bring me my bill. I had to ask her to take the lobster tail off and then her response was, I can give you coupon for future purchase. I told her no, I didn't know when if ever I would be back. She then asked if I wanted another order. I was already done. Again I told her I just wanted it off my bill. She then repeated what I said looked surprised and told me she would have to ask the manager. Really? Food has very little flavor and for the price lacked entertainment. Next time I will stick to hibachi in Franklin. It's well worth the extra 15 minute drive. read more

Unbelievably poor experience tonight with a group of friends. Gave the restaurant advanced noticed and arrived a little past 8pm, approx 12 people in our party and seated at the hibachi side of the restaurant given our crowd size. They close at 10pm...(( this means customers until 10pm, not "go home" at 10pm)). Most of us ordered sushi and our waitress told us we would have to move into the dining room if the majority of our group was not having hibachi dinners. It made absolutely no sense, as we were already seated with drinks and we've been seated here before with an even larger (non-hibachi) crowd. At approx 9:20pm, with our entrees in front of us ::actively eating::, a swarm of at least 3 workers entered the hibachi room to clean their cooktops with the most nauseating cleaner I've ever smelled. It was as if we weren't even there: PAYING CUSTOMERS trying to eat and celebrate with each other. It was so inappropriate and unacceptable. The food is good here, and drinks are fine too, but the staff were so inconsiderate and quite frankly oblivious to the patrons. We were given the opportunity to speak with the manager and he said "but we did not clean your table"... Doesn't matter, the whole room STUNK of strong chemicals. He acknowledged our complaints, but didn't even attempt an apology, and we left. I do not know if we will be able to return or further patron this establishment. I've never been more disgusted as a patron of a restaurant. Gross. read more

A few months ago I would of rated a 5 star but have recently been disappointed a bit. I typically go to Sake for Lunch and get the sushi special. I tend to get the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, then the salmon avocado rolls. The lunch also comes with soup and a salad. I'm indifferent on the miso soup as I only recently started having it. The salad with ginger dressing is amazing. I love their dressing. When it comes to the shush this is where they have fallen off in my opinion. It looks like they have recently changed sushi chefs to a younger chef. Before the rolls would be packed with fish/filling with just the right amount of rice on the outside and they always held together with only a little bit of tempura flake if any inside. Now with the new chef, the rolls have gone down hill in my opinion. This new chef LOADS both spicy rolls with tempura flakes to the point where I've had individual pieces end up being half tempura flakes (each visit seems to have more flakes then the last). This completely destroys the roll as all I can taste is the fried flakes and none of the other ingredients or fish. These rolls also start to fall apart sometimes and it seems like he is trying to compensate by adding more rice to try to make the rolls hold together. The service is good and the staff is friendly. I will agree with another review I read in that they do not pace the food properly. I too have had all my food I front of me. I can see both sides of this, but on the customer side it almost feels like I'm being rushed out. Not a bad negative though in the big picture. I have not had the opportunity to try the hibachi but it always sounds fun if that's any consolation. Like I said this would of been a five star shoe in a few months ago for me but the sushi has not remained consistent. I've seen a couple horror stories about this place on here and I agree that I wish I could give it 0 stars. I am a Wheaton College student and come here to get half price sushi almost every Sunday. Today, one of my friends and I decided to go since we love going on Sundays. We were seated, the waitress took our order, and quickly left. My friend's soup was literally soy sause and hot water with two mushrooms and both of our salads were drenched in dressing. It was fine, no big deal. Yet, when our sushi came it was warm. The avocado was warm and my friend's fish was warm. At the end of our meal, we talked to the waitress, she just walked away, the manager came, and we told her the same thing we told the waitress. She said that the avocado was fresh, she had picked it up from Shaw's this morning, and that my friend ordered a spicy tuna roll. We re-explained our issue (seeing as freshness or spicy-ness wasn't the problem) and she just took our plates and left. Nothing was taken off our bill and the manager was rude. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for many years since it opened and I have to say after tonight, disappointed is an understatement. I went in to share a drink with a friend and to get a sushi roll that I normally love getting from them. When the sushi roll came to the table it didn't look right.. When I went to go eat it the texture was extremely chewy and it tasted extremely sour. Sadly I had to spit it out cuz the taste of it almost made me vomit. When the waitress came back over and asked if everything was okay I expressed to her that something tasted rotten inside the roll, it wasn't enjoyable and I couldn't eat it. She apologized and proceeded to give me the check with the roll still on the bill. I Expressed to her that I didn't feel it was right that I had to pay for something that I couldn't even enjoy and that if it was okay that I had it taken off the bill. She went over to her manager and explained the situation, this is where the disappointment escalated. He expressed to us after I told him what was wrong that we don't do samples here and nobody complains about that sushi roll so I had to pay for it. When I told him how unhappy I was with it and that I didn't see it right that I paid for it he said " no you will pay for it because there is nothing wrong with it if you want I'll give you a discount". After going back and forth with my friend and I for a little bit he then proceeded to swear at me and walk away after I said that I wasn't paying for something I couldn't eat the sushi roll.. the roll was never taken off there bill and the problem was never resolved . With both my friend and I being in the service industry and working at restaurants in the present and in the past we are beyond disappointed at how the situation was handled by management. read more

No star rating service and food was beyond awful. Sat on dining room side not hibachi were seated quickly drink order and food order take promptly but went downhill quickly. My soda and daughter's water came right out 10 minutes later hubby and son's alcoholic drinks came to the table and they were incorrect. Hubby's dinner came out 10 minutes later my son's and my dinners came out still no sign of daughter's so went to try to speak to someone and was greeted by a teenage witch who told me the manager doesn't speak English and I would need to speak to her. Could not answer me as to where my daughter's dinner was kept telling me it was too busy for all meals to arrive at the table together. Total time between 1st dinner arriving and 4th was about 25 minutes we will nit be going back again no one seems to be a manager in this place. read more

Worst service I have ever imagined. Sat down for an hour and a half with my girlfriend. Party of 12 came in not a problem by any means but we were told no reservations for hibachi. We ordered and and were not talked to for the next hour as they strictly waited on the party. Worst service I could ever imagine still waiting for my food to start cooking I've been here since 6:20. The food is well below average. Appetizers were ok (chicken wings and crab Rangoon). We ordered the beef hot pot which was terrible. The broth was bland and tasted more like dish water than anything else. The 4 pieces of beef that was in it were tough and barely edible. As for the vegetables it was packed with tofu more than anything else... absolute garbage, I wouldn't even feed this to my dog. I have no idea how this place is even in business. One star is even too much for this establishment. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, your better off eating your money than the food here... you'd just be throwing it away anyway. read more

HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE! We ordered sushi for pick up. Inedible yellowtail jalapeño rolls, all jalapeño no tuna. When we called to explain the mishap asking for a refund, Ella the manager told us it was our problem and we'd have to bring in the sushi because she would not believe anything was wrong over the phone. Went here tonight with my wife and son (8) and had a great dinner and a great time. When we sat down we were the only ones at the table and had to wait about 25 minutes or so before the chef came over, but the waitress came over and gave us an appetizer on the house for the wait after apologizing twice - that's good service. It was well worth the wait as our chef was very entertaining and engaged the people at the table with his tricks and energy. The meal consisted of a soup, small salad with great dressing - then fried rice, noodles, vegetable's, shrimp, and the main dish. I got the fillet and it was cooked perfect and the sauces added a little extra. The shots of sake were also fun. They tack on $2 a squirt, so get your fill! read more

Typically pretty good, this time not so much, not even close to finishing dinner and they were handing out to go boxes! Then after paying our bill, (rather expensive I might add) they are asking us to leave, very pushy and ignorant. Oh and my wife said the ladies rest room smelled like sewage and the floor drain was overflowing. I have been here a few times and the food is ok. A lot of it tastes stale or reheated. However, the biggest thing is they rush you out. I had to tell the waitress to stop trying to take our food. The restaurant had only 3 or 4 other tables, it was probably 6:30 or so. We arrived, ate, and left in less than 45 minutes. She came over repeatedly, not asking how anything was, just what to take away. She brought the bill before asking if we wanted another drink or dessert, and stomped away when my friend asked for another drink (at this time we had eaten only 2 pieces of sushi off the plate). She returned with the drink and tried to take the plate of sushi from us. She didn't ask, just tried to take it. I told her we were still working on it. She came back 3 minutes later and tried again. This is a pretty good option if you're looking for dinner and a show. The grilled selections prepared at the hibachi grill are quite flavorful. The shrimp and scallops are a personal favorite. Your protein of choice comes with ample sides including stir fried vegetables, stir fried noodles, a soup of clear broth and a small salad (well, actually a small bowl of lettuce with an asian spiced dressing). Unless you have a large appetite, you'll probably need a doggy bag. Their sushi/sashimi is top notch as well. Fresh and flavorful when dipped in the soy/ginger/ wasabi mixture you make yourself. I always order this as an appetizer. Their hot pot, although plentiful, is nothing special. Essentially just a large bowl of soup. The service is somewhat weak. The waiter/waitresses can be slow and sometimes less than efficient. On my last visit, the waitress asked for dessert orders but then turned and walked away before she got to me. How well you enjoy the cooking skills of your hibachi chef will depend on how lively he is. Frankly, I've never had an overly energetic chef here, although I've heard lots of noise and laughter coming from other stations. Overall a fun place for a good meal. Recommended. read more

We made a reservation for 2 on a saturday at 6:30. We arrived at 6:20, told them we were there, and they sat us within 5 minutes. We were very happy with the service, and our meals. We sat with a group of 6, and there was some confusion when the bill came that we were not a group of 8, but that was quickly fixed and they fixed the bill. It is interactive, so be prepared to not just sit there and watch. They want to engage you. We were pleased, and would return in the future. Update, 2/6/11: We made another reservation for 4 on a saturday evening. We made it for 6 pm. We got there a few minutes before 6, told the hostess we were there, and then waited for 20 minutes to be sat. read more

While the food & presentation was good, the service was horrendous. Food: sushi was large pieces, nicely presented. Yaki soba, edmame, and hibachi were all good- no complaints. The quality was good and prices were fair. Services: Awful. Called for a reservation & said NOT a hibachi table. They got that wrong. We then waited, with 4 kids in a large group for 30 minutes extra, when they said it would be 10 min. We sat, ordered quickly, and got the sushi in a reasonable period of time, but waited 50 minutes for the hot food. Waiter basically forgot we were there as well. My review is mostly for service. My husband just picked up our order what we made online. He forgot to check the bag and of course the order was wrong. It is not the first and even not the second time we get the wrong order at this place. It is Friday night, I am hungry, our refrigerator is empty and it takes about 10 minutes to get that restaurant. They put onions on our dish even though my son has an allergy we told them about. Fortunately we caught it and sent it back. Separately carrots were poorly cooked and our soup was bad. Sushi and service was good but I can't recommend outside of that. read more

My family has been there about 8-10 times in the last year and it has been progressively getting worse. Last month they forgot our appetizers. We wen there tonight and they forgot our table...they took our order, brought drinks, salad and then nothing... we saw 3 hibachi tables that sat after us have the chefs start cooking and we had none. There were four different families at out table so I finally went up and they blamed the bus girl fro not putting the slip in. The waitress never checked to see why it was taking so long. There was a second waiter who was serving saki bombs to a group at our table and and doing the saki bombs himself. He should have been more concerned with checking on why the chef hadn't arrived after the group had their 4th drink served! The chef finally arrived. 75 minutes later and there were many open tables so it had nothing to do with how busy it was. The didn't event apologize or comp a soda or beer. Needless to say, I filled the comment card out and was not kind. I saw the new young manager with a few others huddled around the card reading my comments as we were leaving. I let he know I would be glad to talk about the poor experience in person, but her lack of english comprehension limited the message. I have worked in the restaurant industry for many years and this type of service and the lack of the management properly handling issues to keep good customers will cause Sake to further spiral down. read more

I have been to Sake a good amount of times and it has been an increasingly bad experience every time. The last time I went for lunch and ordered the steak hibachi cooked medium, the steak was completely RAW. The waItress did not come over until she was ready to drop off the check. Instead of offering a solution to the problem she asked "what do you want to do about it?" Sake did nothing (not even apologize) about the RAW food I was served. Food poisoning! Had the hibachi dinner. The scallops tasted underdone, but I figured a sushi restaurant would have high quality seafood. Wrong. They must use past prime seafood for their hibachi because I got terribly sick when I returned home. When I called to speak with a manager to report the issue, he basically asked "so? What do you want me to do?" His attitude was completely unprofessional. When I told him I was dissatisfied, he said the only thing he could do would be to give me a discount on a future meal. Nope, not returning to an establishment that gave me food poisoning. As for the rest of the experience. Service was poor to nonexistent. Hibachi chef was less than enthusiastic. We absolutely love this place and have driven 30+ min and past other hibachi places in order to get there on multiple occasions. The food quality is great and the portion sizes are HUGE. All for an incredible price. The hibachi cooks are hysterical and really get everyone going. read more

This is my favorite hibachi of all time! Can't say anything for the sushi but the hibbbachi has large portions and they give you both rice and noodles! The salmon and scallops are delicious. The cooks will cook your steak exactly how you like it! Delicious! 22$ currently for pick two items way better of a deal than 19$ for salmon. read more
