They are open!! The customer service is great. You are welcome to come inside the restaurant. They have tissues, gloves, Lysol wipes, and hand sanitizer available. They deliver, but you have to spend a minimum amount of money and you can't be more than 2 mi away. The host who helped me out was very helpful. He explained the menu and gave me as much time as I needed. He was very polite. The atmosphere was casual, well lit, and comfortable. They also have a tv playing a movie. They have plenty of parking and a huge parking lot. I ordered a poke bowl and it came with miso soup. They have desert as well. I got green tea ice cream. I will be back!! read more

This leans more towards 3.5 than 4. The place was super cute. We walked in and they set a table up for us right away. While we waited for our party to arrive I noticed how attentive they were to another table who was also waiting for at least 6 more people. This one guy and his daughter. They tended to him for quite some time. It took 10 minutes after were seated just to get a drink order and 10 more minutes to get another. I guess the guy they were tending to was a regular but certainly not VIP. The beers were on the border of being skunky but they were super cold and half off so I'm not mad at that! The sushi was delicious... all of it. Reasonably priced and relatively quick service once the rest of our party got there and a different server helped us out. ThIs plaxe is amazing! It's super clean, the food is delicious, and the staff is unbelievably friendly, attentive and nice. I've been here two days in a row now, and I can't help but notice how great the service is. They make you feel so welcome and seem like they genuinely want to be there I ordered only cooked/baked rolls because I don't eat raw fish, and they were delicious. I can't comment on the sashimi but I'm sure that's amazing as well! I will definitely be back and I highly recommend this place! read more

We love this place! It's really close to where we live and each time we've come here we've been super impressed with the customer service and how friendly everyone is - espeically to our kids! It's not often that you come into a place as a parent and are made to feel that everyone is excited that you have your small children with you - but that's how the folks at Sake Sushi have treated us. It's the kind of hospitality that keeps people coming back! But if the service isn't enough to convince you to check this place out...the food here is great, too! Last time we came I had sushi (Placentia Roll is delicious) and my husband had a teriyaki plate. My very picky daughter really enjoyed her kids meal, too! We had our newborn along with us also, and we were seated in a corner so we could keep the stroller nearby - which was a really nice touch and another way we always feel welcome here. Parking is plentiful (this place is in the Ralph's shopping center) and though we've never had to wait for a table, it does seem to get very crowded so I'd recommend calling ahead if you're coming during peak dining hours or on a weekend. read more

We used to come here all the time. The quality of food has dropped and prices increase substantially after the covid pandemic hit. The last time we ordered sushi here the rice was refrigerator cold and hard. An order of uni sushi cost $20-higher than you would find at most sushi places in LA. After spending over $100 for barely- mediocre-gas-station sushi for two people, we agreed that we would've had a better meal if we purchased sushi from Ralph's super market next door. read more

I was not impressed at all. The bathroom was nasty and sticky, the dining room floor is waiting for a lawsuit. It has been way over waxed lmao but the bathroom clearly isn't mopped at all. I got the crunchy rainbow roll, and the order of the fish on top made no sense and the crunch was stale and just nasty. I also got the gyoza and it had no flavor. My sister had the chicken teriyaki bowl and the cabbage they put in it was under cooked to the point that it tasted like wasabi (they are in the family and if you under cook cabbage you will get the wasabi flavor....I am not a fan of wasabi)......for the price and quality I will not be back. read more

The food is great from this place but i just had a terrible interaction with the staff that could've been wholly avoided. My order had to be taken by someone else cus the original person said that I was asking for a roll that she never heard of when I was reading it off their menu; made me feel stupid when I'm just trying to order. The person who took over wasn't any better and just sounded like a yes person rather than someone just trying to finish up an order; I'd much have no-nonsense service just finishing up my order than a yes person trying to soften everything they say. I've just found my new favorite sushi spot in the area... and it all comes down to food and service. I came with family for dinner on a Sunday. Given how busy the restaurant was, I never felt ignored and the owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Must try: - Nabe Udon - YES. I never expected to find the best tasting udon around at a restaurant that specializes in sushi. But I did. The broth was amaaazing. - Red Rock Roll - this beautifully crafted roll hits all kinds of spots. - Crunch Onion Albacore - the crispy fried onions perfectly compliments the albacore, making for a dish exploding with flavor. - Tako Wasa (Octopus) - so fun to eat - Shrimp boat with sweet shrimp - we customized this option by substituting the cooked shrimp with sweet shrimp. This is our favorite sushi place hands down! We've been enjoying Sushi at Sake Sushi for nearly 8 years. A few weeks ago, we enjoyed a nice outdoor meal in the patio, with beautiful ambiance. The food, as always, was perfect and yummy! We had a big order that day to make up for not eating out so long. Every roll is delicious, but a few of our favorites include the spicy something wrong and the paradise roll! Not to mention the sashimi platter, which is always a winner! We felt welcome and appreciated so much here! Must be a family business. That or they are just naturally kind and warm people. If it's busy, as it was this evening, service can be a little slow. At first this annoyed me. Hey it's all about me! Then when our rolls and sushi were served, I realized why this charming little shop is so popular and why it takes time to be served. Everything is fresh, nicely flavored, and carefully crafted. I think there are quite a few regulars here. One table was full of people who seemed to know everyone who walked in the door. They also were drinking before we arrived and didn't stop while we were there. We left before they did, but I hope they didn't let him drive. Not cool. We got home just in time for the small-big 5.1. Sake Sushi was our "go to" Sushi bar for about 5 years. This review was edited after a March 2013 visit. It's Korean owned and operated - what I call "fusion" type sushi - a good selection of rolls, some specials and Korean dishes. The owners are nice people - a husband/wife team that treat their regulars like family - one or both of them have always been on site - they're very dedicated to their restaurant - if you have any issues be sure to talk to them about it. Most of the negatives in other reviews are regarding the service and the box meals. I've never had the box meals but I have experienced some service issues. I believe the table to sushi chef ratio is off - too many tables, not enough chefs. Not a problem if they aren't busy, or if people at the tables order from the "grill" portion of the menu, but I have seen the sushi chefs get overwhelmed - some chefs have apologized and made up for it with freebies and some haven't. Especially bad when a large party unexpectedly shows up. They have dollar sushi night - haven't been there for on that night, but 1/2 price Asahi night is pretty cool! Fish is fresh, however occasionally Toro may be frozen - ask check before ordering. We have seen several chef changes since the days of Takashi, a great chef - but got a little crazy with the drinking and the ladies. The chef on our last visit had good knife skills - quality was high, but the portions were not as generous as they used to be, and not a single free taste was offered - and believe me we were there awhile. Also on this visit a server picked up my empty bottle and no one came back to ask if we wanted another - which we did - we waited a substantial amount of time. Overall our last visit was a 3 - not bad, but we were disappointed that one of our favorites was no longer "as good as it gets". We've discovered a new favorite in this style of sushi bar, at this point we don't plan on returning - but I'll consider this just an "off night" and leave them at 4 stars for all the years of great service. read more

Our waiter, or the invisible man as I'm now calling him only came to our table ONLY one time after us being there for about 20 minutes waiting to order food and drinks. Eventually after giving up on waiting I had to ask another waitress to help us. UPDATE: I'm upping the stars because they sent over a new waiter who was MUCH better!! I'm sorry Sake but you could definitely do better! I don't mind Korean owned Sushi restaurants. After all it is quite the trend especially for the restaurants that do a lot of business in rolls and lunch combos. What I do mind is going to a restaurant, paying good money, and NOT getting good food. But then again I was out in Placentia where apparently there's not much of a selection for Japanese. I ordered a Chirashi for $14.95, which is sashimi on a bed of sushi rice, one of my favorite go-to lunch meals. The sushi rice was a little hard but seasoned well. The Avocado was delicious. The Red Snapper, Ono, and Octopus were decent. The albacore was passable. The Tamago was dried and tasteless! Tamago! In this case a pre-packaged, you-just-have-to-open-the-bag Tamago! The Tuna was about 3 days old and yuck. The Hamachi was downright disgusting. I would have spit that one out if I had not been in a business meeting. Also, the portion was so small that I was actually shocked. There is usually no way that I would finish the rice portion of a Chirashi but this was an exception. My husband even asked me why I ordered only an appetizer! LOL! The hubby ordered the Pork Katsu Bento Combo B and our guest ordered the Chicken Katsu Bento Combo B for $9.95. It's the grill part that I like the most. Sake - Yes. Of course. Even better? They have soju. Ask for it and it will arrive. If you know the soju/lemon trick, they always have available for you. Sushi - Pages and pages of options. This place is known for their creative rolls. & - Service. I feel like Norm at Cheers. After two visits, were were adopted into the circle of locals. When we stop by in the evenings, Jamie always makes us feel welcome. She is the heart of the place. Grill - This is the surprise part of the restaurant. Sit down. Open the menu. Flip to the back page. Here is the grill. The fish & chips here are good enough for me to crave them from time to time. LIght tempura battered fish atop a bed of french fries. So good. The BBQ Spicy Pork is a Korean dish and here it's comfort food. Oh, yeah. Don't forget to start your meal with the Jalapeno bomb! A tip for you paleo people: there are a few rolls without rice. Wanted: Good Japanese restaurant serving creative sushi rolls, that is moderately priced, and offering respectable service. My tried and true in this category in my 'hood is Fish in a Bottle, which has served me well. The only reason I have strayed is that while I have not been forced to wait very long to be seated, if at all, it can get busy in there. Also, the rolls are a bit pricey at $12-15/each. Despite my good experiences at Fish in a Bottle, I did venture out to explore alternatives. Sake Sushi is in a plaza with a grocery story so parking is ample and upon arrival, I was pleasantly pleased with the interior. I'm unabashed about my fondness for Zen-like furnishings and am pretty pleased when I see dark woods and decorative bamboo everywhere. I also appreciated the open layout and the spaciousness. There are plenty of tables and I was elated to think that I might never have to wait a single minute for a table again. Oh but wait I did. And for a very long time. After being seated and provided with our drinks, out male waiter simply disappeared. My cup of hot green tea ran dry about 5 minutes into the meal and no one came to refill it or our waters. In fact, the male waiter never came to check in on us at all even though we could hear the female waitress stopping by the table immediately behind us. How unloved. Fifteen minutes turned into thirty minutes, which turned into fifty minutes. By that point, my cup of green tea still had not been refilled and our waiter was out of sight entirely. In the restaurant's defense, there were three sushi chefs behind the bar and they were working furiously on various sushi and roll dishes. However, I strongly suspect that the restaurant was taking orders out of turn. When we arrived, there was only a smattering of seated parties but we noticed that parties that arrived later than us were already mid-meal. Also, the man who appeared the owner/manager who hovering over their table and ass-kissing like I had never seen. Okay, I get it, he's a friend or a repeat patron but preferred service should not come at the expense of other customers. Finally, we got the attention of our waiter and asked for my tea refill and for them to check on the status of our orders. After that, the female waitress that I mentioned before started handling our table. What a difference. She did those basic things like replenishing drinks, asking about our needs, and clearing dishes. She is the sole reason I left a tip that night. We finally received our rolls, in rapid succession. The Paradise Roll was my favorite, with salmon, mango and jalapeno on top. I really enjoyed the combination of sweet with the heat and the slight drizzle of ponzo woke the roll up. On paper, I thought I would enjoy the Yorba Linda Roll but in comparison, it was so clunky. It was filled with soft shell crab and topped with unagi. This particular crab had more of the crab roe, which I typically love, but resulted in the livery funk permeating the whole roll. With the rich unagi sauce, it was just bitter and large. The last roll was nondescript to me - essentially a Shrimp Tempura Roll, which was perfectly acceptable other than that it tiny- only 6 pieces per roll. I have no intentions of returning. Clearly, this is a family run establishment and the management have no experience in food service. Word to the wise: (1) ingratiating yourselves to the Korean families turns off everyone else, (2) standing around chit chatting among yourselves while at work is unacceptable, (3) it is wrong to take orders out of turn. Obviously, this means that I'm still in the market for a good substitute for Fish in a Bottle. If you have any good recommendations, I'm there. In the meantime, back to my old standby. read more

Located in a spacious shopping center, northwest end. Tons of parking. Nice neighborhood. Interior has some interesting decor. Lots of "japanese" items produce a modern/fusion sushi restaurant. Korean owned and operated. One of the chefs had a baseball cap on, yupp lol. Service: smiles all around. let me tell you, smiles vs no-smiles means alot. its a very small thing to do and the servers may be exhausted or sick and not wanting to be there but smiling makes customers feel more welcome, the vibe starts everything. Its easier to start high and slowly fall vs start low and climb. The hostess whom I think was maybe the manager was very charismatic which is a super welcoming feel. Some family was sitting in the small waiting area and they had a kid that started crying and the hostess noticed immediately and tried to console the kid, and then apologized for the wait. WOW, the feels. Can I cry too? Menu: obviously non-japanese restaurant. I see korean dishes on here. and american. and ramen? WTF. While i appreciate the variety, too much variety I feel leads to more mediocre dishes. Less dishes = more focus/expertise. However I do like the variety of creative rolls, i prefer lobster rolls which theres only 2 unhappily. I'm definitely not a legitimate sushi customer (I'll do red snapper or hawaiian yellowtail and i'm highly hesitant unless i know its super fresh, like wiggling fresh) Price: very fair. approximately $11 per 'specialty' roll thats common to every sushi joint (caterpillar, dragon, spider, rainbow, etc) Portions: oh my god. so the popcorn lobster roll (11) is like 6 pieces of cali rolls...covered under a MOUND of popcorn lobster. Generous on the lobster. However...also generous on the tempura mix, so..not so cool. I picked apart one piece and it was like 25% lobster 75% tempura, ick. But thats my fault, never order tempurad seafood, lesson learned. Also got a soft shell crab appetizer (8) which was one semi large crab also covered in batter, overfried. Not worth. Sauce was really sour...didnt like it. I DID like the sauce 'bowl' it came in tho, was like a teardrop shape. Burrito roll (10) Its a wrap of mostly crab meat mixture and some tuna/shrimp tempura. Wasn't a wowzer. Volcano roll (14) cream cheese, salmon, spicy tuna. really pretty roll but not sure why the price jump here....maybe its the cream cheese, bloody dairy inflation. *will upload pics later, i gotta get up at 5am for work. what the heck am i doing writing up a review when i should be sleeping! *will give another try again. read more

Perfectly cut rolls. Always very tight and immaculate. Sake sushi rolls are never soggy and always delicious, not sloppy. I've been a customer for many years and their food is always consistently delicious and fresh. Sake Sushi has the best quality ingredients a customer would want a restaurant to put in its food. One of me and my boyfriends favorite spots. It's a nice and cozy, family orientated place with great staff. I always have great service and everyone is so nice and welcoming. I've even been here when it's packed and they were very aware of the wait time & making sure we were satisfied while waiting for our food. The fish quality here is better most. I can literally taste the difference in fish quality from restaurant to restaurant. Plus, they have excellent presentation here. I've always been impressed with the way the rolls & sashimi is presented on the plate. So it tastes great & looks great! I really enjoy this place. When they opened in the Rose Shopping Center I was a bit skeptical as to what sort of quality they would have. My "little" brother actually introduced me to this place. Monday night is $1.00 sushi and their salmon is very good. I always get it with shaved onion and ponzu sauce. Hot sake is also one of their weekly specials as well as discounted Asahi some nights. Last week I went and ordered scallop sushi expecting to get the tiny scallops tossed in a mayo based sauce with roe on top but I ended up with two alabaster medallions of jumbo Atlantic sea scallop. They were to DIE for! Buttery texture, smoothe flavor, & completely fresh. They did not need the adornment of soy sauce or wasabi. My boyfriend, who isn't terribly into sushi (a tragedy I know), ordered a teriyaki bento box and ate every last bit. I enjoy their miso soup, green tea, and baked scallop creations. After years of searching for the perfect sushi bar, I've finally found it! It's not easy to find a sushi bar that offers fresh fish, innovative rolls, reasonable pricing, great ambiance, and friendly service, but Sake Sushi has done it. I've been coming at least once a week for the past two years and have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend the Poke Bowl, Spicy Something Wrong, and Paradise Roll. Monday's feature $1 sushi so the place fills up quickly. The staff is so friendly and always greets us with the warmest smiles when we arrive. Best sushi place! Sake sushi has items in their menu that you wont find anywhere else. You can come once a week for a year and you will be able to taste a different type of roll every time you come. This place is always busy, and to me, that means that the fish is fresh. Less time sitting in storage and more time being eaten. The albacore, salmon and ono sushi are my favorites. And if you sit at the bar, some of the sushi men will make it just the way you want it. I like it with just some onion on top. And make sure you try the jalapeno bomb! The owners are amazing people, and will fix any problems you have right away. If you think someone tastes a bit off, they will make sure it is addressed with their staff. On one night, the ginger didn't taste so fresh, Jamie (one of the owners) changed all the ginger on my table out right away. And it seems that there are a lot of regulars here, the owners were greeting every other person that walked through the door by name. All-in-all it is a great experience every time I go. read more

I ordered a Yellowstone which is a roll with shrimp tempura, crabmeat, and avocado topped with deep fried albacore and it was VERY fishy. Just went here on Sunday. I've had a sushi craving for weeks and needed some raw fish in my mouth ASAP. The boy really likes this place and I was willing to give it a try since I don't know of any good sushi places in the area. I'm a fan. We got some rolls and they were delicious! The Dancing roll was an orgasm in my mouth. Soo good. The Volcano roll was also good. Oh and my Spicy Scallop hand roll was also an orgasm in my mouth. And it was HUGE. I made the joke that it was like a sea weed burrito since it was so jam-packed with scallops. The service was great too. We sat at the bar and the sushi chefs were super friendly and quick. Loves it!
