Ok, whoever's review I read that said the sushi may be pricey but the portions are worth it, F U. Sorry to be blunt but really, $10 for a teeny salmon crunch roll that they managed to cut into 6 rolls?! Both our faces literally looked like -_- and he's not even asian! We came around 7ish so there was a bit of a dinner rush and I'm not sure how many sushi chefs they have in the kitchen, but at the bar there were only two and it seemed they were cranking out sushi nonstop just to keep up with the orders. We ordered the salmon crunch roll, rainbow roll, dancing roll, and a side of veggie tempura. Thank god I ordered the tempura after seeing the salmon crunch roll. It's what helped fill me up, but don't get me wrong it was reallllly good tempura. The service was...nothing great. I feel like because neither of us happened to be Japanese or White, they didn't feel the need to wait on us like we actually mattered. The first plate came out after give or take 10 minutes and then the tempura that I had ordered after finishing the crunch roll came before the other two rolls. I don't like raw seafood, so I stayed away from the rainbow roll, but according to my bestie, it was delicious. I loved the dancing roll though. The sauce on top was delicious and just enough creaminess, not overloaded on the mayo or cream cheese or whatever it was they had baked on top. So, service is maybe a 2.5 or 3 and the food is 4 to a 4.5. The prices were a bit steep and I probably will only come back on their alleged $1 sushi mondays. The food isn't spectacular enough to make me pay that much. The 4 things we ordered came to about $48 and some change. Weve been coming to sake for a while now since we bought our house down the street. Let me start with, the food being AMAZING. Service is always great. We are picky sushi eaters too, we like fresh, good sushi. This place will not disappoint!! They have such a wide variety of rolls to choose from which we love. We just placed a large order to take home for sushi night at our house for our dads 60th birthday and the customer service was great!! They were on time and super communicative. It was a huge hit for our "party" let me tell you. We got 19 rolls, 4 appetizers, soup, salad and 36 pieces of sashimi. Everything was packaged up so nicely with all the corresponding sauces. I agree with the previously reviewer. I have been coming here for about 5 years and this place was superior to all other sushi restaurants hands down. We supported the restaurant during COVID and even when prices went up that was okay because the quality was there. However the last 2 times we have been here it seems the quality is slipping. Ordered the paradise roll and the mango on top was as thin as the ginger. Albacore was dry and didn't seem that fresh. I hope the owners/manager see these reviews and make the appropriate adjustments. Hate to start looking for a new favorite place. read more

Kinda surprised this place is rated so highly...don't get me wrong, it's not bad but didn't think it was anything really special and I thought it was a tad overpriced for what it was. The sushi was meh... and the rolls were your basic rolls, even though it seemed as though they tried to dress 'em up with fancy names but unfortunatley a fancy name alone doesn't make up for mediocre sushi The service was good for the most part -- no complaints there. I dunno.. just was very unimpressed w/the food here. I guess I've been spoiled by all the good sushi places by my home and work... def better sushi in Orange County folks. Another thing I found annoying is that we got there at 5 til 5 and they opened at 5pm but were clearly ready for people. Great service! The food is exceptional! I've had the chicken teriyaki and my wife had sushi. The chicken teriyaki was very good an filling. My wife ordered sushi and the sushi chefs sent out samples of different types of sushi, which my wife loved. The Sapporo's were cold! The second time I came, I forgot my wallet!! They do get cool points for the female owner, and her sister pleasant attitude. Okay, before I get into the actual review of the food, I would like to say that the server was very nice and sweet. The owner was very accommodating and helpful. My son and I went here because he was craving sashimi and I wanted to try some place new and it had a decent rating. However... The nigiri sushi menu for lunch was nothing like what was advertised on this site I went to...can't remember it. But the paper that I got (wish I took a picture) was about 3" by 3" and contained about 7 different nigiri sushi. NO mackarel (that's an immediate knock on the score), no roe, no halibut, no octopus...ALL my favorites! So disappointing. Also, the instructions were a little weird (detailed on the sheet of paper). The prices are by piece, not order, at $1.00. But there was a minimum order of 2 pieces, but you had to order in even numbers?? Why not just do the norm and advertise at $2.00 an order which contained 2 nigiri sushi? Joshua ordered the Sashimi Combo, which came with a choice of rolls and 4 pieces of sashimi. I asked them if they could just give him salmon, and they did accommodated at an extra charge of $2.00. Hmmm...okay. His meal came with miso soup and salad, and you'll see from the pics I posted, the soup had no tofu...okay 2 pieces and 2 small strips of seaweed. I would have said no problem except the soup had no flavor. Even my son who likes miso soup said "it tastes like water mommy. I don't like it." True, true, I'm a salt addict...but this was beyond not having any salt. It was as if they had no soup base at all. The saving grace...the reason it's a 2 star and not a 1 star was the jalapeno roll. Wow! It was fantastic. But I'm not a roll kinda gal. I love my sashimi and my nigiri sushi, and therefore have to rate this a 2 starr. read more

Server is really nice! We had a very large party for Monday night $1 sushi pieces. It did take some time for our food to get out, but it was a busy night. Server actually forgot my rainbow roll, they seemed very, sincerely sorry about it and brought me out a roll for free though. The raw fish is alright. Not the best I've ever had but not the worst! Philidelphia roll is pretty good. Was not impressed with the salmon sushi. Maybe because they smothered it on ponsu sauce and onions. Tuna sushi tasted fresh and delicious though! I used to order take out and pick up sushi from this place twice a week. Prices were great and the quality was as well. After a six month hiatus, I decided to get back into the sushi groove. Ordered my usual philly and vegas rolls, and to my surprise, it was about 10 bucks more than it used to be! I was told it was because they had "started using better products." I will say that the owners are always there and always friendly, but for a mom and pop style restaurant, that's an expectation. This was a five star place because of their quality and prices. Oh Sushi roll, oh sushi roll, how I've miss thee! You know what they say, you eat with your eyes first than your lips! We found this place by accident and let me tell you....BEST ACCIDENT EVER! We opt to sit at the sushi bar because we like having small talks with the sushi chef plus we want to make sure he doesn't pick his nose prior to creating our dinner. Don't worry they're very sanitize here and no nose picking was spotted. We ordered a variety of stuff (see pictures) from Uni, Sweet Shrimp, Raw Oysters on a half shell, Spider Roll, Sashimi and the list went on and on. So why do I like this place and slowly falling in love with it? Hold on to your seahorses and I'll tell ya! The fish was fresh, the chef was accomodating, always asking us what sauces we prefered on our roll. They even have fresh WASABI! Overall the sushi melted in your mouth and when we got the bill I was slightly hyperventilatin before I open that leather pocket book to find it $40 less than we anticipated?! Say WHAT?! Usually our bill for two people exceeds $100 for all that we ordered but even with tip we scathed away less than $70. I'm definitely coming back. Things you may need to know: *Sit at the bar is it's a small party, you'll enjoy it better. *If you don't like your rolls drenched in eel sauce or ponzu, ask them to put it on the side. *Spicy anything is really SPICY. None of the servers or chefs wash their hands. The towels they use to wipe down the tables are stuffed in a disgusting bucket of mysterious brown liquid every night then reused the next day. By the way, these are the same towels we would use to wipe down your plates and silverware. This isn't even the half of it. If you ever stepped foot in the back of this restaurant you would never want to eat here again. And not to mention the racist comments I would receive from the manager and employees. This is a super friendly, semi-traditional sushi spot. The chef's are flexible and don't have any qualms about creating something new and special for their customers. They also feature home made beef pot stickers that were terrific. I hadn't ever had a beef pot sticker in my life, but the host was persistent that they would measure up and they surely did. This place never disappoints. Tonight, my friend and I grabbed an outdoor table, on the side patio. We happened to be sat at the same time as a party of 11. Immediately, the staff worked to turn the portable heaters on. They made sure we were comfortable and knew about the group. Still the service was great. Jae was our server. He was fast, attentive, apologetic (when he didn't have to be), funny, and worked hard to meet our needs. I ordered my usual Edamame and Shrimp Crunch Roll. My friend had the Rainbow Roll. Probably our third or fourth visit as my wife and I brought the kids recently and sat outside on the patio. Service was excellent, and was surprised to find Beef Bulgogi on the menu (hadn't noticed before) which my wife and I split along with a few rolls and edamame. All of the food was very good, although similar in comparison to other local spots so I had to go with four stars simply because everything seems to be overpriced in comparison. We'll probably continue to make the rounds to all of the other sushi options in North OC, but plan to be back at Sake in the future as well. read more

We went on a Saturday night with a party of 7 and they were very accommodating with their outdoor seating. They have "dividers" between each party. The staff was very attentive and courteous. The food came out right away which was a plus because we were very hungry. We had 3 kids with us and the owner (lady) have them a little box with M&Ms once they finished their meal and needless to say, they were very happy. Been awhile since my husband and I had food at a restaurant. We had a busy day so couldn't get around to eating dinner til 8:30. Wasn't sure if they were open for us to dine in because the hours were until 9 on Yelp, but 10 on Google. They said we were good to dine in when we called ahead so we went in. The younger staff members were friendly and accommodating. Food was pretty good, so we were happy to find this place. BUT, a older lady came out of the kitchen and started complaining in Korean "Why are these people eating so late? What have they been doing all this time?" She must have not noticed we were Korean too. I started to stuff the food down my throat thinking we were the only two there and we were keeping them from ending their night. My husband noticed and told me to slow down, and that there was another man sitting behind me and we weren't the only ones there. Soon after one more family came in, and the same lady smiled politely and greeted them just to follow by complaining "What have they been doing all night? Why are they eating NOW?" I don't think we'll ever go back to dine in. Had to take medication for the indigestion just now. But hey, my fault for understanding what she was saying. However, if you don't want to have someone smiling at you while complaining about what time you have dinner in a foreign language behind your back, avoid this place or just do take out. read more
