Wasn't sure what to expect at first but ended up enjoying the meal more than I thought the place had this laid back feel and the staff were genuinely kind right from the start they weren't pushy or stiff just real easy to talk to and actually seemed to care if everything was good or not and that kind of attitude makes a big difference when you're trying to just enjoy your food without feeling weird the food itself had great flavor and you could tell it was made with fresh stuff not just thrown together even the simple things tasted like someone actually cared and that's not always the case the way it was plated wasn't over the top but it looked clean and appetizing and it came out at a good pace didn't have to sit around forever or feel like they were trying to rush us out everything we tried had a little something to it that made it feel worth the price not just filler or bland bites it was the kind of meal that just felt good all around. read more

I think 3 stars is a fair rating for this place. Came in the evening with a friend who had finished up at the gym next door. The interior is definitely beautiful! The large booths are comfortable and luxe. I understand there's an upstairs event area too, but even the downstairs looked like it would be great for events. There's a large, well-stocked bar. Service The service was very hit and miss. They forgot to give us menus even after I asked twice. But they were very good about filling up waters and accommodating my requests to not have the food cooked with ghee (slightly lactose intolerant). More on that later. Food - very hit or miss - starting with the positives: Avocado Jhalmuri - 5/5 we liked this! I thought it was clever presentation and an interesting idea. It was an fun combination of different textures and flavors and overall was refreshing. No complaints. Garlic Naan - 5/5 honestly great! We asked for it to be made with no ghee. The flavor and texture were on point. Unfortunately the Chana pindi and adraki aloo gobi had nice flavors but ultimately were *waaaaaay too salty*!! We ate as much as we could but it was just too overwhelming. I could feel my blood pressure rising. We drank a lot of water, but later in the evening my tummy felt kind of weird either from the sheer saltiness or perhaps they accidentally ended up cooking some of the dishes with ghee. Food was so bad. I had to throw away most of it. Daal Makhani too oily. Old rice used in Biryani with clumps and completely soggy. Same base sauce in Paneer Peshawari and Soya Tikka masala. Soya was barely Soya and mostly maida (refined flour). Felt guilty throwing food away but better than getting sick. Never ordering again from here. Update: I ended up have GI issues after 2 hours. Solid Indian dishes, tried a variety of dishes from chicken tikka masala to vegetable biryani to samosas, everything was tasty but slightly on the sweeter side. When things get stressful, I need some comfort food, even if it's 100 degrees outside. In an effort to stay Covid-negative, a DoorDash delivery was the way to go. To my delight, the prices on DoorDash matched the website. That's not always the case and is a huge frustration point for me, as I don't want to pay extra for food, only to pay extra fees, delivery and tip. But enough of the rant. Here is what I got: -Garlic Naan ($5): hell yeah. Get this fluffy goodness. -Butter chicken ($18): love their butta chicken. I could just drink the sauce on its own. The chicken is super tender. -Saffron rice ($4): a really generous portion of the saffron rice. Had enough for the next day to sop up that butter chicken sauce. I've heard from my Indian friends that they are overpriced, as of today lunch buffet price on their window was $23.99, but I didn't have time to go to other place, I gave it a try for to go. I already knew what I wanted to order, so I asked for a to-go and this man on the front said YES and while I was gonna order, he picked up a phone and opened the menu for me. And kept talking... It went a looooong time and I thought I should leave at that point. Then, another gentleman noticed that I'm waiting and came to help me quickly. If it wasn't for him, I wasn't even writing this review. The food was good. But unfortunately nothing really special for their prices, I must say. Absolutely terrible and rude service. Ordered food at 7.52p, food was not ready until almost 8.50p. Said they were having parties so were backlogged. My husband waited. We got the food and 2 items were missing. When I called back and talked to the manager, apparently Abhishek, he told me to come next day and ask for it and it will be on the house!!! I told him we already paid for it so not sure why it's on the house!!! Can't refund coz I paid via their website. Oddest thing ever.. didn't order through a third party, it was directly through them. This is my 5th time at Sakoon and I have always got consistent food quality, amazing service. I have tried the dishes like fried fish, chicken curry, fish curry, naan, appetizer platter, seekh kabab. Malai kofta I would give 4 stars to malai kofta. It was only thing that was good. Horrible tikka masala chicken and bhuna ghost. Everything else was 2 stars. I was really disappointed with bhuna ghost (-20$ dish) and chicken tikka masala(-19$). It was definitely not worth the dish. Seekh kababs- really bad 1 star for 24$ The seekh kababs were 24$ (if i remember), and they were dry and hard. It was not worth the price. Rumali roti This was 9$ for 1 rumali roti and it was chewy and extremely thick. Chef missed the trick here. I would definitely skip this restaurant and would prefer Amber or Sakoon location at mountain view. Paid 160$ for 4 of us and it was not worth at all. read more

I did enjoy my visit - a decent selection at an Indian buffet. I felt like the service was good overall. I think it would have been nice to see a bit more variety of choices though I actually think if you are a vegetarian, you would feel well represented. The banghan bharta had peas in it - kind of a weird choice. The saag dish said it had corn in it but seemed to just be a spinach slurry (though it tasted good). The desserts were kinda meh. I did enjoy the spice level of things though some of my companions found it a little too spicy. Good Indian food with fun drinks! Came here with a group of friends we ordered an assortment of dishes for dinner but the two that really stood out was the samosas and the Frontier Lamb Ki Champein. I am not sure if lunchtime is the buffet style. The samosas were crispy and seasoned very well from the potatoes to peas. You can tell they made to order and we're not sitting out. The lamb was cooked to medium and we were not asked what temperature was desired. Despite medium rare would have been preferred the lamb was still delicious! I was here for a kid's birthday party. It was well organized but it would have been good if there was a board telling about the event and the guiding direction to it. Because when you come to the restaurant it is busy with usual customers to dine in. One is looking for eye contact to ask because everyone is busy with serving the customer. Besides that the food was okay, their kofta was rock hard so many didn't try it. The dessert was great, kheer and gazar ka halwa was tasty and was not too sweet. I asked him about ordering chai twice (as other servers told me there's chai) and he was very rude when I asked him a second time, telling me they were too busy to be answering my questions about chai many times. He spoke in a very rude manner and denied that he ever said anything when we brought up this issue to the other staff members. No apology from him at the end of the day. I ate at the Mountain View location two weeks ago and was absolutely blown away. We left with an incredible medley of flavors and variety and also delicious dessert today. I ate at the Santa Clara location and the experience was twice as good. I especially enjoyed the 25% increase in dishes and even more dessert options. Awesome place for a great Indian buffet. However, if you go on the weekends, there is a Pani Puri station and a pav bhaji station. Can't get any better than that. The restaurant is very clean and the service is surprisingly great for a buffet place but best of all the price for the buffet is affordable and cheap relative to what one gets. I have tried Sakoon for lunch buffet and dinner both. I have found both time service is to the mark and decor is nice and they have lot of seating option. For Buffet, they have divided veg and non veg serving areas. Good news is veg options have variety too and line for veg options is shorter than that for meat options. Though it seems that non vegetarians can relish lot more Indian options here so definitely a must try if you like Indian flavours. We had mix lentils (very fresh), broccoli fritters, corn patty, paneer lababdar (sweeter side), saag(kind of ok) , alu gobhi ( cauliflower potatoes super delicious), papdi chaat (well made). They had two varieties of rice. Usually they get you hot naan but I asked for tandoori roti which they happily got. They have usual fruits, raita and chutney condiments as well. Desserts were kheer (rice pudding ) and carrot halwa. Both were well prepared and not extra sweet or heavy dessert. I will definitely recommend this place for the lunch buffet. For dinner we ordered Lasooni Gobi and Paanch pooran Paneer Tikka for appetizer. Both dishes were well prepared and tasty. For entree we had Paneer Peshawari and Sham Savera Kofta along with butter naan and garlic naan. Kofta was soft and not too creamy. Paneer dish was rich and full of flavor. Naans were well cooked and soft. In dessert we ordered gulab jamun. My husband mentioned this gulab jamun is the best he had in US. It is well cooked inside and it is not too sweet. 4.5 stars - a little on the pricey side for a lunch buffet, but food was great across the board. We went in expecting the lunch buffet to be $18.99 per plate, which was already a little on the pricey side for us, but the sign on the door had upped it to $19.99 - not sure if it's only for Saturdays, or a change to their overall buffet pricing that has yet to be updated online. Regardless, we went in and were greeted right away and given a booth table. It wasn't very crowded, and the buffet was well-stocked for 2PM on a Saturday. There were a lot more veg options than non-veg, but everything we tried (chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, dahi vada, pav bhaji, aaloo tikki, chana chaat, veg pakoda, lychee halwa, banana custard) was great! For the lunch buffet the naan is brought to the table hot, definitely the highlight for us. Good vibes for the interior, buffet section was clean and well managed, service was prompt with the check and water refills. I'd definitely go back for the buffet, but also for dinner to try the rest of their menu when I'm ok to spend a little more per plate. read more

Made reservation for Valentine's Day. Was never at the Santa Clara facility, but like mood and experience from their Mountain View location. It was way different: although nice looking it was very noisy; patrons invaded that this location is viewed as a family restaurant contrary to the special-event venue I expected; food was okay, but my wife felt the Tandoori chicken was dry; the service feel way short - server couldn't explain the differences in dishes, bar order took too long and order was not right, appetizer and one entree came out in a flash, but needed to remind another waiter that naan and other entree not delivered and then still took 20 mins to arrive. Sakoon Santa Clara far missed my expectations, and therefore, I will not go back. I think the previous Indian restaurant, Bombay Kitchen (?), was better. However, both their naans are/were exceptional. Nothing like a real tandoori oven. read more
