I like Saks Fifth Off. I often shop there for my Clients and myself. However, I don't like employees waiting outside of my dressing room "counting" my clothes. It is so nerve wracking! I feel like I have to hurry so she/he can get back to doing their real job. Furthermore, I walked out of a dressing room once with my sweatshirt in my shopping bag, and the female employee actually said to me, "you did not have that when you went into the dressing room". I answered, "That's because I had it on". I was so put off, I left without buying anything. I don't know if I'll go back. It's still better than shopping at SFA. Thanks for being such a lousy corporate neighbor. Well it's 11 pm and the Saks store renovation project is underway again. We're right behind you in a 220 unit condo complex. Heavy construction noise all night long. Your work crew yelling and screaming and the sound of debris being thrown into your dumpster. It's 4am and the sound of industrial grade compressed air wrenches and grinders wafts thru the air. Even closing the windows is useless. Do you have a permit from the City? Sleep deprived. Even when you're not renovating there is heavy duty noise from your site from 11 pm onward. Sounds like you have a night crew outside assembling or tearing apart metal clothes racks or something. There's a least a dozen other retail places around you and none of them make the kind of noise you do. Bleary eyed and not in the mood to ever buy anything from your store. read more

I was given an expensive cashmere sweater as a gift from OFF 5th Saks which did not fit well. I have never shopped at this store myself. The tags were still on it, it was in perfect condition and I had the gift receipt. I take it to this store to exchange it when an extremely rude manager, Jeannie informs me it has been over 30 days (barely) since this gift was bought for me and she can not help me at all. Really?? I can't believe this store has such a ridiculous return/exchange policy and that given the circumstances she is refusing to allow me to exchange an expensive gift that does not fit. Not only do I not agree with their store policy this manager is the epitome of horrible customer service and clearly she gets off on being rude to people. i love shopping, i'm a recovering label whore. realistically, i need to get a good deal in order to not feel guilty. this store has some great deals, particularly in womens shoes. less crowded than the rack (the nordstrom equivalent across the street), but i prefer the rack. the staff in off 5th was cold, unfriendly. they seem very bored and unhappy, unpleasant like they are counting the minutes until they leave. they also had some great deals in mens, i was able to find a few items for my husband. i've experienced better, i probably won't return unless it is extremely convienient. read more

As we in San Diego know, the Saks Fifth Avenue at Fashion Valley Mall closed. As much as the fact that Saks Fifth Avenue was "too dressy" for San Diego, I remain believing that there was still a sufficient clientele that enabled for them to remain. Nonetheless, Off 5th is something of a great concession. Of all the discount cousins to the higher end relatives I like this place best, better than Rack and the Barney's outlet. If you're a curious shopper, a more adventurous than average dresser yet still cheap you should check them out. Set aside a little bit of time to look through their offerings. You might just find something ridiculous expensive marked down into reasonable territory, not always, and not always in your size, but often enough to make it worth the hunt. There's a lot of merchandise that has probably never had a chance to see the insides of the real Sak's stores, like the what I gather is the made-for-the-store men's labels like Saks Gray, Red and Black. But even wanna-be clothing lines can often be pretty interesting and style-conscious in ways most mid-priced shopping opportunities aren't. Not everyone sees the value of not dressing like you're about to potty-train the chihuahua or swab the deck of your bathroom floor. This is such a great store all of my relatives buy their designer items here at reasonable prices. Sunglasses are a steal for they can be found for under $100. I have bought shoes and mostly jeans such as true religion and 7 for all mankind though in the holiday season there is not much to choose from overall the store is neatly laid out and does not look like an outlet store. read more

Save your money and go to Nordstrom Rack. I had a return for a defective sweater. I did not have a receipt- which I know is a retail no no. I figured they would be some what accommodating since I wore the sweater once. The girl was rude and unwilling to help me. I explained that the sweater is pulled after wearing it once. She said basically that's the nature of the fabric. Somehow I doubt Marc Jacobs intended his sweaters to look like shit after one use. The store has somewhat of a nice selection of things to buy, the employees are nice and are simply doing their job, but the management needs some serious repercussions. The head manager, Lesley (I think that's how you spell her name), has some serious anger management issues. I've overheard her talking very low to her employees several times, and she was not helpful with my shopping needs at all when the employee had no idea what to do. She should not raise her voice onto anyone but herself because she clearly doesn't respect the store, her employees, and most importantly her customers. I hope that the district manager will see this to consider a different manager that actually knows how to run a business. Aside from this, I recommend the Carmel Mountain location. Much cleaner, nicer, larger selection. read more

This location is well stocked. They offer a large selection of handbags and shoes. The staff is friendly and eager to make a sale. They have a good selection on Tory Burch handbags and at times offer an additional 40% off. A few weeks ago, I scored two Tory Burch handbags for about $150 each. read more

I received the worst customer service from Leslie/Manager yesterday at the store in Mission Valley. I brought back a top that was poorly made, stitching very loose, but I like the top. They had others that were a bit better, but too small. I asked the clerk about the top and she offered to get another from a nearby store but I would have to pay $9.99 for shipping. Which is absurd! the Manager came out, snatched the Top from my hands and said I'll give you your money back. She didn't even understand that I liked the top and wanted the top that was available from another delivered to her store without me having to pay for it. It wasn't my fault you sell product that's sketchy. I understand this is an outlet store, but this top wasn't cheap, and she could not waive a $9.99 charge to satisfy a customer that spent over $200 on the original purchase that included the top. Also went to purchase a D&G jacket on sale for $347, it literally had a hole in it and faded and they were still selling it for $347, ridiculous! If the damage is so noticeable, take it off the rack! or sell if for a decent price. I will not shop there again, regardless of the discounted designer pricing, because they just sell anything, holes, bad stitching, faded items, this is not my idea of quality clothing, and its not like it is inexpensive. I have usually had a good experience with this store and their product, but now I question some of the stuff they sell. BEWARE and CHECK your product before you leave the store. These stores need to be called out when they take advantage of their position. read more

I normally do not post negative experiences but this was so bad I feel compelled to let potential buyers know exactly why this location only rates 3 stars. I am an avid shopper and I spent a lot of money at this store. On vacation 5 days ago I purchased a pair of Prada sunglasses as a gift at the store in Cabazon near Palm Springs. The cashier commented on the glasses as she rung them up. When I said I was buying them for a gift, she removed the tag but warned me to keep the tag and receipt. At the store in San Diego, I tried to return them 5 days after purchase with receipt and tags in hand and was told they could not be returned because the tag was not attached. I explained everything to Rachel the store manager who not only said she wouldn't return them but when I asked if there was someone else I could speak to she said "no I'm it, I'm the manager". Until I asked if she was the highest level decision maker for Saks Fifth Ave, she didn't respond to me (rude) but turned to a cashier and said,"give her the number to customer relations". She walked away never apologizing or acknowledging me in any way. I did call customer relations, spoke with Jennifer who did apologize and attempt to help me by offering to possibly taking them back if I come back to Cabazon which is a 2 hour drive from where I live or to mail them back and they'll let me know if they can take them back or not. I will take the loss on this one and will make a point of letting all of my friends and coworkers know not to shop at this store. I really shouldn't have to take the loss since an Off Fifth employee made the decision to remove the tag and never told me by doing so I would not be able to return them. The service at this store has really gone down. More so than not being able to return the glasses, I'm upset about the whole too bad, so sad attitude I was given by the manager in San Diego. Why would we go here when we could go to Nordstroms? Awful customer service. My fiancé purchased some shorts at the new location in Carmel Mountain. One of the pairs literally stretched out about three sizes after just one wear and no longer fits him. We happened to be near mission valley and tried to return them in addition to another pair with the tags. The sales employee kept asking if we had tried washing a drying them. She couldn't not understand that the extent of the stretching was not something a dryer would just "shrink up." This was his first time shopping at this store and he will definitely not be going back. Nordstrom's would have been the same price and never would they make a big deal about returning a pair of short purchased two weeks ago with an accompanying receipt. Very dissatisfied customer! I have never been more disgusted with a company. Although this was an online issue I will make sure I tell all my friends and as many people as possible. I purchased a $500 wallet for my boyfriend and I paid $40 extra so next day shipping. However when I received my email it stated I would not get it until 4 days later when I had paid extra to have it by a specific date. so upset of course I went onto their chat services and spoke to " JAQUELINE THOMPSON". let me just say I work for a large corporation and we would NEVER treat or talk to our customers this way. She sat there and her only goal was to prove me wrong, and then she went to "speak to her manager" which im not sure if she did, her manager also said I was wrong. Love this store for the accessories. Just walked out with a gorgeous Betsey Johnson purse for $170 when it is normally $390. The hubby and I also picked up some Gucci sunglasses for a good price too! The staff is very friendly and not stuffy like other places with high end clothing and accessories. The shoes and clothes aren't the best in pricing or variety in my own opinion. Although the staff is friendly and courteous, I feel they are managed poorly. Waited in line for 7 minutes (stand somewhere and watch a clock - that's a long time) while only 1 out of 3 cashiers was ringing up customers. The 3rd employee chose to discuss a company issue (pn the phone) another Off-5th store instead of assisting with the line of customers. After being initially over-charged for an item (pricey item at that) and then leaving the store 15 minutes too late (was late getting back to work), I will have to say I will never shop there again. I have been to the store 3 times, the first two time were ok. I did not find things that I like, but the third time was kind of disappointed. I was searching for reduce price item and finally I found two items I really like. When I approach the counter to paid for it, they told me the price was wrong due to a mix match. It seem to me that they lower the price to attract the customer in but at the end they sale them a different price. To me, they did not honor their policy and certainly wasting the time I was there.
