Food was not bad, pretty good actually, service and how they handle situations, was bad, pretty bad. Had to wait 2 hours for a chef to assist our hunger, which he did an amazing job! But then there was a hair on my buddies food, it was straight, he has curly hair, extremely hot in the dining room(said AC was down). I feel bad for one of the waitresses, she had dropped half the plate of the drinks and most fell, which could've delayed wait. But then other tables got served before we did, even when we're waiting for an hour we got skipped a few times. Honestly one of the worst experiences I've had eating out at hibachi, especially here, I've been coming for 6 years, but after last experience, I'm not sure if I'd go back.

Food pictured were good! Not the best I've had but my husband and I enjoyed the food. He enjoyed his ramen. The sushi was mid, like any sushi roll. However, the service we had was great. Our waitress was very kind and accommodating to our requests, such as substituting the gyoza with our ramen with tonkatsu! We sat in their dining tables but I love the lively ambiance, especially from the teppanyaki side. There's always a birthday going on whenever I have visited in the past and all the cooks were usually very lively and fun. A great place to go after shopping or watching a movie!

Great food. Great service. Great presentation. Just like you've always been accustomed to at the first location. Clean restaurant. Ample parking. Great lunch special!

Food was delicious and the teppanyaki guy was great. He put on a great show and because it was so dark in there, the fire lit up the table and looked very cool. No complaints there. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because we came here for my friend's birthday and we kept hearing the waiters sing happy birthday to the other tables, but when it came to my friend's birthday, they said all the waiters went home for the day. Really? Within 10 minutes, there was no one to sing happy birthday to my friend? We mentioned it was her birthday when we sat, we mentioned it to the server during the meal, and we had to remind them after the meal as well. All they did was bring out the melted ice cream cup to her that they admitted they forgot about. I want to give this place 5 stars, but I did not have a 5 star experience.

Sakura Chaya is one of those rare hometown wins. The kind of place that grows organically, earns loyalty the hard way, and becomes a true local gathering spot without trying too hard. Walk in and you feel it immediately. Familiar faces, easy conversation, and a dining room that works equally well for a quick weeknight meal or lingering with friends. This is not trend chasing. It is consistency, care, and respect for the basics done right. The food tells the same story. Clean flavors. Quality ingredients. No unnecessary distractions. My go to is the sashimi, and it delivers every time. Fresh, properly cut, and thoughtfully presented. The fish tastes like it should, pure and unmasked, supported by crisp greens, clean accompaniments, and balance instead of excess. It is the kind of dish that signals confidence. When a restaurant can serve sashimi this straightforward and this good, you trust everything else on the menu. Saruykaya feels home grown in the best sense of the word. A neighborhood anchor that brings people together, respects the craft, and keeps standards high without losing its soul. In a town full of options, this is the place you return to. Not because it is flashy, but because it is dependable, welcoming, and genuinely good.

This is what we were served after we switched seats

I am writing to share feedback regarding our experience during our visit on January 2, 2026, specifically involving one of your servers, Tammy L. What was intended to be a relaxing visit quickly became upsetting. Upon arrival, our party was seated with us positioned at the far end of the table. Tammy L approached and informed us that the chef would not be serving us because we were "too far out of the way." While this was disappointing, we still wished to remain seated with our party.(The chef did not mind) After our order had already been taken by another server, our party felt uncomfortable and offered to switch seats with us so we could be closer together. Once we switched, Tammy L returned with an unprofessional and visibly upset attitude. I explained that we had ordered the same items as the guests we switched with, yet we were told that this had "thrown off the order," despite no actual changes to the food. From that point forward, we were largely ignored. Tammy L focused her attention on the two guests who had moved into the original seats--the same area where we were initially told service would not be provided. Our food was served separately from the rest of our party, creating confusion and detracting from the experience. Additionally, our meals arrived cold and with noticeably smaller portions compared to those served to the rest of our group. Overall, the experience felt disrespectful, and unprofessional. I was very disappointed by the attitude and handling of the situation. This was our first visit, and unfortunately, it will be our last.

The food, service and entertainment was amazing. We had such a wonderful birthday celebration.

    Impressive!

If you want a a nice dinner and a SHOW, you have to come here. So immersive, fun and, of course, delicious!

Just went into Sakura for 1 to go order and Server was Elizabeth.R. I had ordered fried rice. Got to the counter and she was on her personal phone and hung up after 3 min called me then was like oh well he will take your order when he's done. After she realized it was a to go order. Then after another 3 min she ask what I would like to order and told her my order the whole time she was rushing me qnd just being very pushy and rude. She was not taking her job serious therefore trying to rush my experience and my day! Elizabeth R, 5/18/25 1:05pm!

The restaurant is dirty. My shoe was sticking to the bathroom floors. The dining area where the booths have stains and dirt all over the wood. The food is good. I don't think I would come here anymore about the cleanliness.

We arrived on Wednesday night around 6:30pm to celebrate my friend's birthday dinner. There was no wait and we were seated for regular dining. Our waitress Deedee was great and so sweet! Our food was delicious, but the prices are a bit steep compared to the rest of food prices in Fresno, so this is more of a very rare occurrence that we'd return.

Per usual, there's lots of seating around the grills that is perfect for big groups and parties. Our chef was so kind and offered to still do the fun teppanyaki tricks even though it was just us 2. I got the seafood combo and it was delightful. Comes with shrimp, calamari scallops, and salmon. My partner got the toro trio, which comes with chicken, teriyaki steak, and shrimp. Everyone who eats at teppanyaki also gets veggies and bacon fried rice. They are always so kind to leave out the bacon if that's not your jam. They'll just fry yours first! Lots of flavorful butter is used to grill everything, but just remind yourself teppanyaki is always a treat! Chef will ask if you like spicy or not and then will give you sauce accordingly. Sauce is always the best part for me! Not sure what they put in it, but I'm sure it's more butter with spices lol. One of my fav teppanyaki spots in town! I was immediate greeted by the two Sushi chefs behind the counter as I walked in. Not long after, the host greeted me and handed me a menu for me to select my order to go. I considered a poke bowl, however, their sauces were pretty standard. So instead I opted for their seaweed salad that came with a number of protein including tuna, edamame, shrimp, avocado, and masago. It was $19, so it wasn't necessarily inexpensive, however I figured a poke bowl with a couple proteins would run me right about there as well. The sushi chef got right away to work preparing my meal and I was in and out within 5 minutes. When I got home, I opened up my box and was a little underwhelmed with the presentation. The protein is cut up into small pieces and mixed in with the seaweed salad. In addition it is not pure seaweed as it is also mixed in with a bunch of other greens such as sprouts. So while the presentation was not what I was expecting, I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed the flavors and textures. I will definitely order this again.
