I'm so glad they opened up this teppan-yaki joint closer to home! Every other one is a drive for me! Even better that they provided excellent service! We sat at the teppan side and I ordered sushi from there as well. I ordered a side of fried rice with some hot & spicy sauce from the teppan menu. As for sushi: I ordered the Cajun Pepper Seared Albacore and the Ashley Roll. Every thing tasted delicious. One of the rolls took a little longer to come out but that's okay. It gave me a little time for my tummy to settle before eating each thing. I nibbled off my brother and sister's teppan-yaki plates anyway so I got the best of both worlds! We had Sue as our teppan chef. From the words of my three year old niece-- "he was amazing!" He gave us a very entertaining show and cooked everything at a good pace as well. As for our waitress, Kiana... very nice and friendly and she did very well taking our order. I also appreciated that she was honest and told me the sushi chefs were behind on my last roll. I will not be coming back here, I would definitely skip this restaurant. It's crazy how the two restaurants Sakura Chaya Clovis and Fresno can vary so drastically in food, food quality, and service. The Fresno store is not great to be honest, but this Clovis restaurant has an extremely lower quality in food and the Sushi rolls look totally different than Fresno. We came here thinking it's going to be similar to their other restaurant in Fresno, but it's vastly different from what we expected, since we've gone to Sakura Chaya Fresno once in a while. Management should really take a look at this. We ordered two combination dinners and TWO 50/50 rolls. The 50/50 Rolls are extremely smaller and there's less pieces than the Fresno store, they aren't as wide, and the rolls look totally different like it's from totally different restaurants. The topping of the roll doesn't have the other ingredients that Fresno has, and it really looks naked and skimmed down. There's no dressing or anything on the rolls or anything. They look very mediocre. Also, they don't have the ice cream from the Fresno store. The Fresno store has red bean ice cream, this store didn't have the red bean ice cream option. And even though it's one ice cream, the Fresno store allows us mix to choose smaller balls of the different flavors. This store wouldn't allow us to choose different flavors. Given the higher prices of their food, you really would be expected at least the same and consistent quality/quantity of food that you'd expect and used to. The prices are the same as Fresno store. It's just really surprising how significantly different they are. We will definitely not be going back to this restaurant. read more

Last visit we had apparently a new chef. The vent on the hood was not on or broken and all customers were taking in a lot smoke. Chef barely spoke and mainly pointed if he was asking you something. To start of positive... the food was delicious. The experience absolutely not. The chef began with "smoke will go... this way" as he pointed straight to where my friend and I were sitting. We thought it was a joke. Until the entire time we had smoke just drafting straight into our eyes and lungs. It was horrible. Took about 20 mins before our waiter acknowledged us and came by to take our order. Once order was placed, food came out rather quickly. Birthday celebration for 10. Horrible service. It's not cheap to go there so when I spend my hard earned money for a celebration out, I expect the server to come back. Our soup and salad bowls never left our table after we finished them. No refills asked for the $3.50 soda for kids. Of course the Chef was great and the food was great. So I went during dinner time, the waiter took my order, I had ordered the teppanyaki dinner with an "Extra side of fried rice". When the chef came out he did not go over everyone's order which I thought was a little weird. When it came to serving the rice on my plate he had giving me and my partner an extra extra side of rice. I had to ask him if he had given me extra and he tried to make it seem like it was my fault that i didn't say anything earlier. He said "Cmon bro you're messing me up!". It's not my fault he did not go over the orders with everyone around the table. If I were to rate the chef id give him a honest 2 out of 10. He did not talk. He was blaming me for his mistake and his teppanyaki performance was below average. He kept having food fly off the grill and ended up tossing it away. Will be my last time going to Sakura. Strongly do not recommend this location. It's night and day in service, food and atmosphere when compared to the Fresno location. Went for a family dinner with my niece here from out of state. Besides the usual loud atmosphere, one of the teppanyaki "chefs" ( chef is very loose term) was allowed to sit his boom box speaker on his preparation tray and blast Mexican mariachi music during his service. Yes, not once, but 2-3 times during our dining experience. When I asked the "manager" ( again, loose term) about this, she said " oh we allow it because some people like it". Well some people like pole dancing, are you going to allow that during dinner? When my mother leaned into me asking what the manager said, our "chef" looked at me and said " what, you don't like music?". Insulting. I was a patron of the original Beni Hana restaurant experience. First of all, how exciting it was to finally have dinner in a restaurant! My husband and I have been craving Japanese so we decided to give tuis place a try since we really loved their oyher location in North Fresno. The atmosphere was nice, people bustling everywhere in their masks, and it was nice to see families out. Our server was training but she did an excellent job. The menus were paper so they can just throw them away after you order food. Our food was great with the exception of the Spicy Edamame. There was literally no flavor; we would've been better off ordering the plain edamame. The sushi was good. I meam you can't really go wrong with it unless your fish is bad. I do have one complaint, however, I don't knownif there's a way to fix it -- the sushi and hot plates didn't come out at the same time. My husband was nearly done eating when my sushi finally came out. I don't know if this has do to with the fact that the sushi comes from the sushi bar and the hot food from the kitchen. Miso soup was cold and our sushi rolls were warm which makes no sense because we picked it up right when it was ready. This was the worst food I've ever had! I got the vegetarian meal and it was tofu, lettuce, some asparagus and onions. It wasn't cooked enough the onions were raw, the asparagus was crunchy and who in the heck cooks lettuce?! The tofu was soggy and falling apart! It was all seasoned with lemon. LEMON! So gross. The fried rice was awful and he burned the eggs in it. The salad tasted like straight pepper! the spicy sauce was horrible and did not taste like regular spicy sauce. Never again will we come here. This place was awful and the most expensive. Besides the food the fan above the table wasn't even strong enough and all the smoke was blowing in our faces the whole time. I came here on Friday around 4:30 p.m.- when they opened for dinner. It was Valentine's day, so I understand why it was pack. Was told it would be a 30 minutes wait but it was actually less than 5 minutes. Also, I wanted to dine-in and they assumed I was doing the teppanyaki. Therefore, I recommend informing the front desk that you want to dine-in or teppanyaki. Wait time will vary between the two. As for the food...I'd say for the price...it's a no go. Quality/taste vs price. Quality/taste wasn't up to par. The total of our tab was about $55+ and we added tip etc, but for $55+ I could get better food at other places. The bento box I got was $29.99 and the Tonkatsu was about $20+ (can't recall price). Bento box has a variety of food. Sashimi Salmon was fresh. The chicken teriyaki mediocre. Not enough sauce. And they charge extra for more sauce etc (1.50+ per sauce I believe). Shumai that came with the meal was alright too. Small and not enough fillings. Salad/Miso soup was good like other places I've had. California roll was okayish too. The Tonkatsu plate wasn't too appetizing too. Pork pieces came in big chunks. The pork had no flavor itself (they didn't season it etc). The sauce that came with it wasn't good either. Bento box: 2/5 (for the variety of food on it and the sashimi) Pork Tonkatsu: 2/5 (for quantity and tenderness of the pork) Service: our server was awesome. She came around to check on us even though it was quite busy. My only complaint on service is the order they serve the food. I got my bento box about 20-25 minutes before the Pork Tonkatsu came out. We're both pretty patient, so we waited, but almost cancelled the order before it came out. Overall, disappointed in the food. And like I said, for the price the food wasn't worth it. I've had better for less at other places. I don't mind spending $50+ on food for two but only if it's good tasting food! read more

Went on a girl lunch date and then a week later took my husband! Everyone loved it ! Food was delicious! I am not a sushi person my my husband is.
