My son was turning 13 and wanted hibachi to celebrate! We tried this place out since it was nearby and reviews looked promising! It lived up to the hype! I made reservations online for a party of 7 on a Sat nite. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and felt welcomed. The service was wonderful and they made the birthday boy feel special! The chef entertained us with the typical hibachi show and there were even some new tricks thrown in that we hadn't seen. The owner/manger even stopped by and introduced himself and welcomed us. The food was delicious and fresh! We tried teriyaki steak, filet, shrimp, scallops, chicken and vegetables: all prepared as requested and were delicious! The soups and salads were tasty too. My kids enjoyed the Japanese sodas and I tried the flashing Green Arrow. Didn't try any desserts since had birthday cookie cake waiting at home. I would have given a five star rating if not for their receptionist that needed some personality overhaul. When we came and asked for the happy hour menu around 551pm he said its only until 5pm, i said oh i saw on yelp it said until 630pm, but i said its ok, we will still eat and try it out, i politely said maybe they need to check the website, he said i want to see, i couldnt find it at first then i said it doesnt matter we will still eat he said "i know" then i showed him not knowing i showed a diff sushi place he said "thats not Sakura" well i aologized and said my mistake. This place is amazing! The owner and his wife are some of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of interacting with. The staff is awesome and very attentive, the food is bomb, I took my family there and we tried almost everything on the hibachi menu and everything was excellent. The gentleman that took care of our table have been doing this for 10 years and you can tell he knows what he's doing. Our overall experience was excellent and I will definitely be back. Great decor. Great appetizers. Got the spring rolls and Pork dumplings. Dumping were the best I have had. The staff were very friendly, willing to explain the menu, and were very attentive. Our dinners were very nice; most in our party had hibachi grill meals or a bento box. Plenty of food and a bit entertaining with the cooking in front of you on the table grill. Personally we did not care for the food tossing from the chef but plenty of other diners enjoyed it (especially kids, and the misses were swept up right after). Compared to similar places, we liked Sakura because they did not overdo the oil and butter in the grilled items which is healthier. Ample serving sizes and staff was friendly and attentive. A drawback of table side cooking is that the cooking smells linger on your clothes and hair. Prices are on par for Ashburn which goes on the high side. read more

Very impressed with our experience last night. I was a big fan of the Sakura in Fair Oaks but it's just too far. I'm still uncertain if the two are related because there are some notable differences. We had a party of 6, most of us got hibachi but my friend had sushi, my husband and I tried a bit of both. Drinks: I got the purple haze. My husband was convinced I wouldn't like it cuz a lot of the time I don't love blue curacao but I couldn't make up my mind...I actually really enjoyed it once it was all mixed together- it tasted like cherries! My friend had the green lantern and really liked it, everyone was jealous that his drink glowed. Appetizers: hubs ordered the calamari tentacles, I like calamari but I just can't handle the tentacles. I hoped it would be a mix of the rings as well but no....he really enjoyed it though. I tried a potsticker and it was very good. Food: the hibachi was tastier than the Fair Oaks locations...much more flavor, and the fried rice was very moist and delicious. Hubs and I both got filet and scallops, although I wish I'd tried the lobster (our friend got it and it looked so good). His date that had the sushi LOVED it (we consider ourselves sushi pros so this is saying something), so much so that we decided to order the Black Dragon roll to try it out. Normally, I have to have my sushi drenched in spicy mayo and lite soy sauce just because I'm a really big sauce person- but it was not needed at all here, which is a huge deal for me to say that. I also don't normally don't love cream cheese in my rolls but the ones I tried that had it, it was minimal and hardly detectable. Even my husband who HATES it really liked it! Definitely some of the best, if not THE best, sushi I've ever had. I can't wait to come back and try more. The only teeny tiny thing that wasn't perfect was the yum yum sauce. As I said, being a sauce person, i LOOOOVE the yum yum sauce at the Fair Oaks location...this one's was thinner but still flavorful, albeit a different flavor. I didn't ask for some to-go with my leftovers, normally I ask for a few but I just didn't feel the need to here. It's not a complaint by any means, but more of a note for anyone who loves the yum yum sauce as much as I do. Oh, and for 2 combination dinners, a $10 drink plus a grey goose & sprite, and a $15 roll - our total came out to $103. We were expecting much, much more so this was a fabulous surprise! The only thing that bothers me is the hibachi chefs uniform, it's dirty and their pants are not uniform. What employees wear at your restaurant say a lot about your business. *******BEWARE OF MR.PEEPEE MAN ***** So my husband decided to take me and our 2 girls (13months & 5 years old) out to dinner as we celebrated great news! Knowing how much I love hibachi he remembered seeing a new location near The Giant food store we shop in. I must start by saying the place is lovely inside and very spacious. I was pretty impressed with the overall menu options and couldn't wait to try the food. I ordered one of their speciality drinks and spring rolls for a appetizer. The drinks and the appetizer came out pretty quick. My husband order Filet Mignon, I order hibachi chicken for my 5 year old and I ordered the hibachi salmon. Our Waitress brought out our soap and salads as we laughed and talked and enjoyed our news...our chef then comes out to prepair our food. By this my 5 year old is super excited about the show she about to watch. Half way through preparing our food the chef pulls out this toy and squirts my daughter in the face and hair and says Mr. PEEPEE Man pee on you and laughs(WTF)!!!! My daughter turns away saying thats gross and the chefs continues on by saying you don't like Mr.PeePee Man peeing on you. I was so blown away about how inappropriate this was I couldn't respond. My husband then says let that be the last time Mr.PeePee man come out buddy.....I'm still blown away by what happen I think I just zone out for a second with anger. I later recall the manager I guess coming over to see how the food was....My husband states okay until Mr.Peepee man came and peed on my daughter in the middle of our meal. He too laughs and says hes right over there I can go get him. My husband quickly tells him also that he advise against this happening. I don't know if it's just me but this was highly inappropriate and can say my family will definitely not be coming back to this establishment. I have been craving to dine at a hibachi grill for some time but could not find one worthy of going to because the others in the past have been disappointing and that is definitely not an experience I wanted to have again. Sakura is situated at a shopping plaza in Ashburn. The interior and ambiance are beautiful. Upon entering the establishment my significant other (S.O.) and I were warmly greeted, and immediately seated at a grill. We were the only patrons dining that I saw. Within 5 minutes of being seated, two gentlemen joined us at the table. No one else came. A server took drink orders, and as we waited for our beverages I admired the dark wood floors, soulful music, well-kept chairs and cleanliness of the grills and surrounding areas. I noted those things because it is not always present at the other establishments. The chef arrived soon after we placed our orders. The chef performed the typical hibachi grill act with fire and onions, egg roll, and toss food into a patron's mouth. All of which I enjoyed watching, it never gets old. The food preparation was quick and the chef listened to our specifications. I enjoyed the broth and sampled the salad which was good because a creamy dressing was used. The shrimp appetizer was held until the end because my S.O. has a shellfish allergy. I ordered a combination of chicken and scallops, my S.O. ordered a combination of salmon and steak. The vegetables which included broccoli were great, tender and well-seasoned. My chicken was bland and dry despite ordering it with extra teriyaki sauce. My scallops and shrimp were really good with just enough seasoning. I tasted the steak my S.O. ordered, it was bland and dry. I will definitely recommend this restaurant and will return soon. However, I will not order the steak or chicken, which were disappointments. Nonetheless, I rated my experience 5 stars because of the manner in which were greeted, being promptly seated, the ambiance, the helpful wait staff, the chef and food. read more

My wife and I stopped in this afternoon after reading great reviews on Yelp. We were looking to take sushi out and WOW were we pleased with everything from the host or duty manager who greeted us to the waitress and sushi chef. We were directed to the bar for our takeout and the manager brought us happy hour menus and highlighted the specials. We gladly ordered drinks while waiting and he also allowed us to get our sushi at the happy hour price! We were amazed and grateful knowing this is not the norm. While sitting at the bar, the sushi chef fixed us two samples " on the house" assuming he must have heard us say it was our first time in. The eel and tuna he prepared were some of the freshest sushi we have had. The decor is very nice (cozy) and the staff was a picture of what good customer service is about. The food spoke for itself. We cannot wait to bring family and friends in and try some of the other dishes. The happy hour selection is some of the best I have seen in Ashburn area too! read more

Like many strip mall restaurants, I've passed Sakura by many times without as much as a glance. What a mistake! On a whim and wanting hibachi, I "found" Sakura on Yelp and went that evening. Tremendous selection of many dishes of orient descent, very well prepared aesthetically and with out of this world taste. Crab rangoon was the best I've ever tasted, the Bullseye roll included filet, sriracha, and jalapeno and was a Winner, and the hibachi filet and lobster was perfect. I don't care for tofu, but their version was delightful. The server was very sweet and kind, and made good suggestions. And although in the final analysis it's not the most important, let me mention how absolutely gorgeous the decor is here. Very tasteful, elegant, and furnishings looks like they were just placed there yesterday it was so clean and in good repair. The atmosphere was very relaxing and melted the stress away from my day, and that was even without drinks - I'll fix that next time! First off when we were seated we were taking a while to order and then some lady rudely comes up to us and starts ranting saying if you don't want to order right now go sit over there and order your food and wait. Then after we finally get our food and eat it wasn't that bad and we went to go pay with a gift card and they said that they aren't going to accept it and the manager argued with us and we had to pay in full. and then after we paid and left some man chased us out asking why we didn't pay even though we just did. Awesome! Stumbled on this place for lunch on the weekend and was surprised to catch happy hour specials. Food was great and the ambiance is really cool. Really liked the design and use of lighting. The manager Wilson says he keeps a Redskins banner hanging since a lot of players stop by after practice and the have two TVs behind the sushi bar if you want to catch a game while you eat. Definitely coming back...this is our new favorite for sushi in Ashburn and next time we'll try the hibachi! read more
