The only thing good about this place is that it's close. We came here after covid but the sushi is not that good. Service wasn't attentive or very friendly. Several family's at the Teppanyaki side laughing and enjoying the show that the chefs put on for them. Everything was seasoned nicely, they also give a shoyu ginger sauce on the side with Sakura's yum yum sauce. Didn't care for the sauce, didn't need it for the food. The dinner for two comes with 2 miso soup and salad. Both very good. We also ordered sweet heart sushi, which was spicy ahi wrapped in ahi. Not bad. Didn't care for it. Oyster platter was good. Fresh. But not enough ponzu on the oysters. Like mine drenched in sauce. I got a little grossed out because I just tasted straight oyster with little to no sauce on it. Tempura fried icecream and cheesecake for dessert. I will honestly say, the green tea fried icecream was gross. NOT FOR ME. The fried cheese cake, comes with a scoop of icecream, I got vanilla. The ambience is a little dimmer than normal but can't say it's a romantic place it really isn't. It's not quiet but it's not loud either. Whenever we visit, we are warmly greeted by Skye who has become someone my kids look forward to seeing. She always ensures that we receive excellent service. We sometimes dine in on the regular tables and other times we opt for hibachi. The sushi served at the restaurant is excellent, and we always order the combo meals as they provide ample amounts of food. During busy hours, there can be a spike in noise levels due to the number of families dining in, but this is not something that bothers my family. It was a good amount of food and it came with miso soup! The hibachi lunch special doesn't come with noodles, but the combo was a good size. If you want more food go with salmon, chicken or steak. The portion of shrimp might be small if you're a big eater. Everything was tasty and was cooked with lots of butter, garlic, and teriyaki sauce. Hibachi is also served with sides of ginger shoyu sauce and "yum yum" sauce. Both were tasty, but I don't think the food needs it. The restaurant was about half full when we left. The environment of the restaurant was nice there were a couple of tables full with other customers but it wasn't too loud. We got the fried calamari and the age tofu as appetizers. This was our 1st time back since they opened years ago. When we went there way back then, we sat around the counter yakiniku style. We weren't impressed and never returned to eat there. However, on NY Eve, we took our family there as many of our friends in church said it was good. So we dined on the sushi side of the Resturant. Our waitress was Kershone and she immediately noticed that our family felt the chill of the AC and turned it down for us. That was nice. Throughput our whole time there, Kershon was attentive and conscious of our every need. We had raw fish, tempura, teishoku and salads and everything we had was great! They also had Agedashi like the real Japanese owned/operated restaurants. The calamari rings and tempura was so hot and crispy; we knew it was straight out of the oil and to your table. Major Fido's for that! The only thing our family missed was Miso Butterfish or Miso salmon. Grilled fish goes soo well with tempura I hope they consider putting these items on their menu. The building is an old building and the interior/decor could use a facelift. The lighting was also a vir dark for the lunch crowd as we had difficulty reading a black menu...maybe pump up the lights for lunch and dim them with the dinner/bar crowd. He ordered a special roll and I got the lunch pick three rolls. Everything was beautiful and it wasn't filled with rice the way I like it. Just finished an awesome takeout meal from Sakura. During this lockdown, we try to eat from local eateries in our community. The other day when I went to Safeway, I noticed Sakura's man made takeout sign and told my husband that we should eat there on Friday. We try to cook at home but treat ourselves to one night of takeout. I love the ease of ordering online, paying and getting texts when the food is ready for pickup. And not to mention the food was so good! So much food for less than $20/person. Everything was packed neatly and food was still hot when we sat down to eat. Will we be back? Oh yes. Absolutely loved!!!! Hubby & I came here for date night--holiday weekend but still got seated right away at the hibachi table. We enjoyed some drinks while we looked over the menu since they had sooo many choices. We ended up ordering the oyster shooters, super volcano roll & the Hibachi VIP dinner for two. While waiting for the chef, we munched on the complimentary salad and miso soup. The oyster shooters were so good and even had some sake in it too! The super volcano was tasty and came with a really nice portion to share. The hibachi was the main reason we came and I'm so glad we did! Chef was super high energy and so fun to watch. The kids near us enjoyed the show just as much as the adults :D food was even better! Definitely recommend the combo as it came with everything: Lobster, Steak, Shrimp, Chicken, grilled veggies, fried egg noodles and fried rice--all cooked with the yummy garlic butter. We were looking for a convenient lunch location and Sakura was suggested by a friend. 4 of us went there, 3 having never been. We were seated right away and waited on promptly. We ordered some appetizers and they were delivered very expeditiously, to our pleasant surprise. All were very good, the pork gyoza and shrimp tempura were the stand outs for me. On the main course, I opted for the meat lovers, with steak, filet mignon, & chicken. That came with noodles and friend rice, it was an abundance of food that even shared left us needing to take leftovers home. Sakura was recommended to us by a local friend and I have to say the reviews kind of scared me but I was willing to try. My husband and I wanted to check this place out and decided coming here for our anniversary was the perfect opportunity. They don't take reservations for just 2 but we came here on a Friday night around 7 and were sat immediately. The host was friendly and asked us if we wanted a regular table or hibachi. We were sat with 2 other groups at the hibachi table and our chef came shortly after we put in our orders. The chef came with his boom box blasting some good music and he was ready to put on a show. From him squirting shots in everybody's mouth to having us catch broccoli with our mouths while he threw it at us and all the jokes in between this was the type of show I've come to love when getting hibachi. This place was packed and I can see why. For dinner my husband and I ordered some margaritas, a sushi roll to share and the dinner for 2 hibachi course that came with chicken, shrimp, lobster, steak, fried rice and noodles. We had upgraded our steak to filet mignon and it was so worth it. The dinner was cooked perfectly and prices were not bad at all. Back in November we had gotten hibachi downtown and it was way more expensive and not even half as good. I was in a restaurant mood all weekend so we ended our Sunday with dinner at Sakura! I've been meaning to check out this spot for a long while now. The last time I was in here was when it was Sizzlers! We requested to sit at the hibachi area. They also have regular tables or a sushi bar area. They said it would be a 30min wait but it honestly didn't seem that long, which was surprising because they were really busy! Once they called our phone, we walked in right away and a guy escorted us to our seats. Timing was impeccable. The same guy came and got our drink orders, came back and we immediately ordered our food. Hubby and I shared the VIP for 2, we got a kids sushi bento and chicken. There was more than enough food left on my plate to take home. The chef came out with his cart and did all kinds of fancy tricks. My oldest son was so fascinated and had commented that he wanted to work here as his first job. Needless to say, we all had a great time. It reminds me of Kobe steak house but closer to home! I have heard good things about Sakura for years and I finally got my chance to try their food with a couple of friends after golf. We got there about 12:30 on a Thursday and I thought they had a pretty good lunch crowd, a good sign. The restaurant was pretty big and I was surprised that they were serving 2 large crowds teppanyaki style in the rear of the restaurant. They also have a good sized sushi bar which you are welcome to sit at. We all ordered lunch specials. I ordered the combo bento with medium rare teriyaki and mixed tempura. The others ordered the sashimi lunch special and a teriyaki chicken bento. The sashimi looked fantastic and I made a mental note to come back for that. I ordered my teriyaki medium rare and it is really refreshing that they cooked that thin cut of beef perfectly. Too many times the meat I ordered medium rare comes out overcooked. The tempura was also very good. It was a good experience and I will return with my wife sometime soon for sure. The only thing I can complain about is the portions.
