When I first got there, it took awhile for anybody to even go to the front to sit us even though multiple workers were walking by looking at us there. One we were sat at a table the waiter took down our drinks and disappeared. We tried getting another waiters attention to ask about our waiter but they ended up just walking the other way. Since the waiter wasn't coming back we moved to the bar area. Once someone noticed that we were moving areas they finally started helping us. We ended up getting a different waiter which was a little more attentive, but I wish I wouldn't have had to change to a different area to finally get the staff to notice and get serviced. read more

Update: We still love the food but the whole restaurant needs a thorough cleaning. This is by far one of the best sushi places I've been to. We are not from the area but stop in if we get the chance to because the food is excellent. Happy Hour prices are very good and go on even on weekends 3-7pm per our recent visit. Our favorites are the Pearland Roll, Crab puffs, Hibachi Steak and fried rice. One of the sauces here is beyond the best, it's called ruby sauce (sweet and spicy) and the sauce that comes with the crab puffs is also delicious and very similar (most restaurants always serve them with sweet and sour sauce which is nothing special in my opinion). We have looked for other restaurants in our area that could compare to this restaurants food for sushi or hibachi and have not yet found one. I removed one star because it could be a little tidier and the entrance/door area could be cleaned up a bit to give a better first impression other than that we love the place. read more

I typically will not write such a negative review. Birthday dinner ruined. I see that Sakura does not respond as many other places will to save face. We never even got to the food. We were seated with a family that apparently did not like our race. We were two they were six or more. After receiving multiple hateful gleers from the eldest of the family the host came to the table and told them that they would have to stay seated with us or pay 50 dollars for another table. The host was not even subtle about it and it further confirmed our thoughts that our skin color bothered the family. I told my girlfriend that it would be next to impossible to stay seated at this table with all the looks and comments that were being made. So I told her we needed to leave. The racist family got their table all to themselves. Sakura you need to send your employees through diversity training and tell them what not to say in front of other customers. Even though technically it was not the restaurant's fault they should be trained to identify such issues before they have time to escalate. Fortunate part is I do work around a lot of people and visitors from out of state and they often ask me what a good place is to eat. Sakura was always one of my top choices but not anymore. I went during happy hour for yummy sushi at great prices. We were quickly seated in a nicely decorated booth by our waitress who was helpful, friendly, and attentive. I had the shrimp shumai appetizer, the spicy tuna roll, salmon cucumber roll, 1 pc eel and green tea mochi to share (2 pc in 1 order) for dessert. The shrimp shumai order came with 6 pc, which was great to share. The sushi came with potent wasabi, sharp ginger, and soy sauce as expected. The eel was especially delicious. I am BIG MAD. I specifically asked for no shrimp, no mushrooms, and I paid for steak. Well there was no fucking steak in my meal.... BUT there was plenty of mushrooms and shrimp. I was very saddened following my first experience dining here. The food actually tasted amazing! However, about an hour after eating I was met with the most excruciating stomach cramping imaginable to life. That is not typical for me at all. The next few hours brought with it intense vomiting and diarrhea. It was so unfortunate because I was actually leaving to catch a flight the next morning and could barely even pack for my trip. Immodium helped. The kicker for me was that my three-year-old also got sick and when I woke her up the following morning she was laying in a bed of her own vomit after having diarrhea as well the night before. My bf ordered the rock shrimp tempura & spicy edamame for an appetizer, the edamame came out in a timely manner and we ordered sake/beer during that time. We finished the edamame & drinks but no sign of of rock shrimp or our waitress. Finally flag her down to ask about our other appetizer (said she sees it & is on the way) and put in the rest of our order (she never came by after drinks to ask if we were ready to order), a good 10 mins went by and by now I was over it. Flagged her down again to tell her to cancel the shrimp and if the order wasn't ready to go ahead and cancel it all. If I wanted to pay to sit at a empty table I could've done that at home, then the food came. Best hibachi hands down I have ever been to in Houston. I get the house delight meal with shrimp, fried rice, and chicken.

Food was great and for the price? Even better! We ordered the edamame, octopus balls, gyoza and sushi. I would go back just for the gyoza and edamame. My partner loved the octopus balls. I would not recommend the fried ice cream unless you like a really thick fried layer. Lastly, the service was excellent. Our waiter was the nicest person and very helpful! I placed an online order at 10 am to be picked up at 6:30 pm for an event I had at 7. I got there and they told me I had to wait a few minutes. I kept checking in and was receiving the same answer. At 7, I (and other people who were also waiting) requested to see the manager. The only solution she had was to give us a refund after we had been waiting for a while. They went back and checked on my order and they were still working on it. I finally said I was only giving them 10 more minutes. I finally received my order at 7:20pm. 50 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready. I don't tend to review restaurants. You guys, front door is nasty. Should've been my sign, the floor was sticky and so was the counter. There are random things on top of display shelves behind the bar, light bulbs, keys hanging off bottles and empty bottles for display. Along employee drink cups with no lids across in front of the liquor. There is dust and grease all over these shelves and bottles. Service is rude and unapologetic leave you talking to yourself. Menu pages are stuck to each other, and food is not up to par. Oil used to cook is old and food is mediocre. Flies flying over you, and worst part is people "in charge" are sitting around either taking smoke breaks in front of the restaurant or hanging out with the employees, as if there are no dirty tables or mess everywhere. Service puts fingers on rims of cups and in plates to serve. Had to leave, asap. Couldn't stand it. Everyone working was texting laughing and seemed to be relaxed around the air that probably didn't circulate the place cause even that felt sticky nasty and not worth my money. I've been in the hospitality industry for years and definitely not the way I would run a place nor serve customers in these conditions. Hard to say they received a B for health inspection, which is kind of holding on to the front door.. that's if that piece of paper its not embarrassed it's up there. .. smh. To be fair, Japanese Hibachi is my favorite. My opinion will have some bias, based on my preference. This was a very bad dining experience. We had to find the manager twice during the hour long wait for service and spent 90 minutes before we had food. We were served inedible portions of food, that no restaurant should serve a customer (see photo, fat and gristle chunks). The wait staff left beverage glasses empty. The chef brought wrong food to a full third of the people at our table, which increased the very long wait. The vegetables were served after the meat and rice were consumed. The bathroom was filthy and the trash can was overfilled and floor covered in paper towels. All in all, a really bad dining experience, inedible food, inattentive service, bad management and dirty bathrooms. One of the only sushi restaurants I would recommend in Pearland. I recommend the yellowtail jalapeño in ponzu sauce. I've been here several times and the sushi was fairly decent. I usually get the salmon sashimi however I was very disappointed with my recent dining experience. We ordered our usual salmon sashimi but we were served nigiri. The sushi chef tried to fix it however it seems we were given long thinly sliced "sashimi" with a smoky taste to it and wasn't the traditional sashimi cut. Tuna could be a little fresher. Although I wasn't satisfied with my recent experience, I would still recommend this sushi restaurant compared to others in the area. Service is pretty good, nice and friendly staff. read more

I had a very pleasant lunch experience today. It was not very busy, but it was quiet and peaceful up front. My waiter was quick and attentive I'll beit a little bit off bless his heart. But he was great. The food was absolutely delicious, and the lunch portion was more than enough for one person. Literally my only complaint about the entire thing was the roll I ordered was supposed to come with fried Lotus root chips, and they were very obviously fried pieces of wonton wrapper. The hibachi chef I had was amazing! We went during lunch-time (12:30pm). The food was really good and satisfied my craving for really good, fresh fried rice. He did the usual tricks like the volcano, made a couple jokes with the cooking (pretended his eye was the egg he cracked onto the grill to gross my daughter out; she found it hilarious) The waitress was very nice and kept dishes we finished off of our tables right on time for our main course to be served.
