Wanted to like this restaurant but every item except the shrimp tempura or sushi was even close to authentic Japanese. No miso soup. Just a soy sauce clear soup. Gyoza and sui Mai were warmed up frozen items, glass of wine was in the smallest glass and maybe 4 sips worth. Almost the whole meal was nothing close to high quality Japanese food. I heard that different restaurant nearby, the chef trained with an actual Japanese chef so the food is much better quality. read more

We stoped here as we love Japanese food. We were seated and got our food. I personally found the beef teriyaki very unseasoned and hard to chew. At the end of our dinner we were paying and we saw some of the staff smirking at some costumers that had just entered. We had never visited this establishment before But we didn't want to wait for a table at another place we had called ahead for and were told that didn't guarantee us a table anyway. We Love Sushi & we were not disappointed!!! The food was fresh, hot when it should have been. And cold as well. We ordered the vegetable tempura appetizer and it was cooked to perfection. Crispy not soggy at all. Our main entree was Shrimp fried Rice! And it was Amazing! No skimpy Shrimp here. And our 4 Sushi rolls were delightfully delicious!!! My mother lives in The Villages and this place isn't far from her home. The place sits in a little strip shopping mall and once you enter the place the decor is sterile but very neat and clean. Several TVs line the walls, so it does make up for the lack of interior design. It has a bar, albeit small, and though I have yet to eat here for dinner, their menu is extensive. The lunch menu is simple and inexpensive. But what really makes this place a deal...as does with just about EVERY eatery in and around The Villages is their happy hour.......which runs for 6 hours????? Yes, 6 hours...from 11am to 6pm! Now for those of you that haven't spent time near this huge retirement communities they are famous for these happy hours with the draw being "two for one." Plus the prices can be very cheap. This particular visit my mother had a noodle bowl which was so big she ate about a third and took the rest home. I had sushi (2 rolls) as was satisfied in quantity, quality, and price. Staff is young, not terribly friendly, but helpful. The one thing that took me off guard was their soy sauce. It was VERY VERY thick? I inquired about it and was told it was sodium free and that was all they used. The girl didn't speak great English, so after she repeated herself twice I dropped it. read more

We went here for the hibachi experience for our group of nine on a Sunday for lunch. Restaurant seems clean & well decorated. The cook was entertaining & it was fun watching him make everything in front of our eyes. My 10 year old liked the noodles & chicken. Love this place! My family and I frequently visit for the hibachi. Chefs are always entertaining and put on a good show while cooking up great food. My boyfriend and I usually order the hibachi dinner for 2 because you can get pretty much any protein on the menu. I would recommend however not ordering the calamari because it's so huge that it's a little unappetizing. Their sushi is also very good. Was looking forward to a late lunch at Sakura. So I go in and am seated quickly. A fee minutes later another gentleman is seated and another about a minute after that. So now I have been waiting 7-8 minutes and the first gentleman seated after me, now joined by his wife is waited on. A minute later a waiter person goes to the second gentleman's table. I've gone here almost every time I've visited my grandparents. I LOVE this place! Whilst the service can sometimes be slow, they certainly make up for it in quality. Virtually everything I've tried has been delicious. Being from California, I consider myself to be quite picky when it comes to sushi. This by far is the best Japanese food in the area. The Bento combos are excellent. The waitresses and owner are all attractive and service is excellent. I eat here at least 3 times a month. This place is alright. Came here with an extraordinarily large party on a Saturday night and the server was as patient as can be. The food was ok. I ordered the steak hibachi plate. I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi we had here...it was all truly delicious. Our favorite roll is the Tuna Lovers...excellent! The yellowtail jalapeño in ponzu sauce is really excellent as well. The presentation of each dish is beautiful and photo worthy. Had a delightful first visit here last evening. Place was moderately busy. We were seated immediately and our waitress was helpful and full of smiles. Everything we ordered tasted great and was beautifully presented. Prices were reasonable. One of the few places in The Villages that is not so loud you can't have a conversation! I'm here visiting family in Florida and they know of my love for sushi so we decide to go over to the new local Japanese restaurant. I'm guessing it's newer as it is in the more recently developed part of The Village. It's right off of a (relatively) main road (for the area). If you're familiar at all with The Villages, you know this could be anywhere and nowhere at the same time. We ordered a Chicken Soba Noodle soup and a Chirashi. The soup came out in a huge bowl and there were plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. The soba noodles were very dark and not quite the same flavor I'm used to, but overall the soup was good and full of veggies and slivered chicken. The chirashi came out rather ornamental with a color changing cube hidden behind the shredded daikon, which I found more annoying to look at while eating, than anything else. In the menu description It said 14 pieces of sashimi. Sashimi should not include Tamago. That is egg, not fish. So I really got 12 pieces and some Tamago. Definitely a point lost for that. The rice bed has seaweed flakes on it and some crumbly things that I couldn't place but when I tried it, it tasted like pork. Not appetizing at all. I enjoy sashimi because of the pureness of the flavor of the fish, not to have this salty pork flavored additive messing with it. The decor is pretty modern and you can see they are kind of reaching for a contemporary vibe (leaves and color changing cubes in the plating). I will probably go back again before I leave here and maybe try some of their rolls for something different. read more

Folks this is Central Florida -- you are not going to get Nobu quality - the market doesn't warrant that type of sourcing and price tag. The sushi, sashimi is on par with what I would get at an mid level sushi restaurant in New York City. The hot food is prepared well (Americanized but pretty good flavors). If you are looking for a big plate -- the filet mignon and lobster tail is well prepared and comes with plenty of sides (noodles, fried rice and sauteed vegetables). The sashimi is fresh and served at the right temperature. My folks live in The Villages so my expectations were not high given the lack of diversity, but I was pleasantly surprised. When you need a break from the country club cuisine and need something different -- come here. Enjoy. read more

My office recently ordered sushi here because one of the girls raved about it. I must say, I've had better! Not to say it was "bad" just not as yummy as I hoped it would be. The customer service however was OUTSTANDING!!! We accidentally ordered from the wrong location but when we showed up and realized our mistake they quickly re-made our order. Coming from Los Angeles we were hesitant to make the decision to seek out sushi in central Florida. We were pleasantly surprised! Specialty rolls were really good. Prices were fair. Given its non-coastal location, I expected to pay a little more for sushi and thats fine. It was definitely on par or better than your go to neighborhood sushi joint in LA. Not a Nobu or Sugarfish but is a great option if you enjoy some good rolls. I especially enjoyed the Naruto (cucumber wrapped) rolls. Great to see these healthier options in contrast to most mid american sushi options (e.g. tempura rolls slathered in cream cheese). read more
