Came during Memorial Day weekend, had a nice 1/2 off bottle of rose Empanadas: 5/5, had the steak and the guava/cheese empanada. Both were fresh, hot, super tasty Paella mixto: 5/5, very flavorful, generous with the shrimp, mussels, chicken was juicy and chorizo was very tasty . Chimichurri steak: 2/5 quite disappointing, steak came out lukewarm, quite a few tendony bits not the best cut of meat, tasted like it was made earlier in the day and then just reheated. The sweet potato puree and the chimichurri sauce had almost no flavor, could not finish it Service was great, our waiter was very attentive, stayed on top of refilling our waters and wine and the patio seating was cute.

Came here for our first stop for Houston Restaurant Weeks. I've been to rice village several times and had never stumbled upon this restaurant so I was excited to try, especially with how aesthetic and cute it looks from the outside. Walking in, there's a set up to your left for a single musician and being able to listen to live music during your dinner was a lovely touch. The service was okay, didn't seem like there was a lot of wait staff for the whole restaurant (which is a little on the small side) so I felt like we waited quite awhile for things, especially at the end for our check. - Mussels in tomato garlic sauce - 5/5; my only complaint is the bread that is served with the mussels is a little stale but when it's dipped in the delicious sauce, it soaks it up beautifully and you can't even tell anymore - Crab cake - 4/5; while the flavor of the crab cake itself was good, wish it came with at least two instead of just the one - Seafood paella - 3/5; I found it to be a little on the bland and dry side but my boyfriend enjoyed - Mushroom bolognese rigatoni 4/5; while I did expect there to be ground meat as it's a bolognese, the mushrooms did give a hearty, meaty texture and there was a savory umami flavor to it and it was rich and creamy - Chocolate almond cake - 2/5; so incredibly dry and the little dollop of cream you're given on the top of the cake cannot help - Apricot tart - 5/5; surprisingly our favorite dish of the night

Tried this place out for Houston restaurant weeks. The interior decor was cute and trendy. Menu was eclectic. I really enjoyed the Gouda and mushroom empanada. My husband got the mussels - I was not a fan. NY Steak Salad was flavored well but steak was room temp. We ended up waiting a very long time for dessert to arrive. The cranberry lemon tart was still frozen on the inside and almond lemon cake was just ok.

This brioche French toast was absolutely divine! Just perfection.

The food - the service- the creativity and ambience - all wonderful. We had the best brunch I have had in Houston. Delicious and delightful

We came for restaurant week and enjoyed the food, but our wait for dessert at the end soured the experience (no pun intended). The inside of the restaurant was beautiful with an intimate layout and great decor. My wife and I did the restaurant week menu. She got the empanada and I got the mussels, and we both enjoyed them thoroughly. For our entrees, we got the steak salad & bolognese pasta. The steak salad was great, and while my wife enjoyed the pasta, I was honestly hoping it would have been a little more rich in flavor overall. Now, for the dessert, I basically got a lemon bar. It felt like we waited a solid 20 minutes for a rock hard tart, while my wife's almond cake was soft and basically ready to go. Our waiter apologized while we were waiting for it, which I figured was because they were shortstaffed or making the dessert fresh. When they came out with our dessert, he apologized again and said they were waiting for the lemon bar to warm up to room temp since it came out of the freezer. Dude -- that is something you tell your customer BEFORE they order it so 1) they don't order a brick from the freezer for dessert and 2) if they decide to, they'll know to expect a wait instead of wondering what the heck is going on. All in all, I'd come back if someone wanted to, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone else.

We were a pretty big group the evening of Valentine's Day. Though there was a prix fixe menu for V Day, you could order a la carte. We were brought water without us having to ask for it. Our waiter was nice and gave us separate checks. Plus he didn't automatically add a 20 percent tip. The empanada is $6, kind of pricey. I didn't think the filling was delicious. It was a melange of spinach and ricotta. It's served with a tiny cup of chimichurri sauce. The restaurant was packed. There was live music by a French man outside. It was chilly but they have warming lights.

Since this restaurant is in Rice Village, there's street metered parking. It's a small venue with some outdoor seating. There used to be bar seating but it's been changed to small two people round tables. The waitresses we've had have always been nice and attentive. There's only one time we went when the service was slow and so was the food. The food is good, I like the huevos rancheros and their chai tea. The eggs Benedict are also good and come with two orange slices and a strawberry cut in half. I love the calm atmosphere.

Good food. Fast service. Nice ambiance. I like to try something different almost every single time that I visit this place. Today I tried the Tuscan Pan Seared Salmon. I've had salmon at other restaurants and it always tastes like charred, dried out, rubbery, crunchy salt. Today was a refreshing change from that. The fish here was perfectly cooked, easy to chew and I could actually taste the fish instead of just salt. I got there around 4:15pm, a time right between when most of the lunch crowd had already left and just before the dinner crowd started to arrive. It was 96 degrees outside so I decided to sit inside where it was cool instead of at one of the tables outside. Since nobody else was seated near any of the tables by the windows yet, I got to enjoy the relaxing view of all of the green plants outside while I dined. One table with two women left shortly after I arrived and they thanked the waiter for his excellent service as they walked out the door. Evidently, one of them found the nearest ATM and then returned a few minutes later with more cash in hand to give the waiter as an even bigger tip than the original one that she gave him. She thanked him again for his excellent service and said that she would definitely be coming back in the near future. I don't think I've ever seen a customer do that at any restaurant I've ever visited before. I actually had the same waiter that she did. I don't remember seeing him there during my previous visits, though. He was personable, brought my food to me quickly, checked on me about halfway through to see if I needed anything else and he thanked me repeatedly for coming in. Even though I paid $3.00 for the street metered parking directly in front of this quaint little Rice Village restaurant, I think it was worth it and I'll definitely be coming back.

Met some friends for brunch and the interior was cozy. Service was awesome. Price is what you would expect. Quinoa salad with added salmon 5/5 The salad was delicious. I love how generous they were with the avocado and salmon. They gave the whole piece. Drinks 4/5 We enjoyed the tea and latte. Not a lot of variety for teas but they were all organic and gave a side of honey. Avocado toast 5/5 Pretty presentation. Good amount of salmon to avocado to toast. Empanada 5/5 Friend really enjoyed them Steak taco 5/5 Steak was flavorful and tender. Liked that they stuffed it.

My friends and I came here for a Saturday brunch. We had a private secluded table which we loved! We ordered eggs Benedict, seafood paella, brie and figs empanada, avocado toast, lemon almond cake and grapefruit mimosa. We enjoyed all of the food especially paella which my friend said had a lot of seafood. Lemon almond cake was a bit dry. Overall, everything else was good. The service was a bit slow. We didn't have our water refilled until the end of our meal. However, overall the place and the food was really good and there was parking available in front of the restaurant. Lastly, because I checked in on yelp, I was able to get a free cup of coffee.

During the last ten years there has been a lot of changes in the Rice Village but unfortunately not for the good! However Salento Bistrot remains one of the shining stars of the Rice Village! I have been in and out of this nice restaurant for about 18 years. The food is delicious and the selection of wines is more than just decent. I love the beautiful atmosphere with nice music and the staff is always helpful. I need to add that the staff is bilingual and courteous. My last experience confirmed me that this is one of the few places I feel confortable to eat in the Rice Village. The prices are moderate and for the quality of the food is worth it. Please try the delicious paella and do not miss the flavorful sangria. They also have a patio but I prefer to eat inside. In my last visit I didn't eat dessert because apparently they're not offering the traditional "torta de Santiago" (used to be my favorite ).

Very nice location and ambiance! Service was friendly and very accommodating as well, my only reason for 4 stars is because the egg within all the empanadas we got were really over cooked and the toppings besides egg were really lacking in the amount we got. Specifically the tomato and egg one had almost no tomato and only had over cooked egg. The sauce was pretty good and salvaged the empanadas but if I come here again I'd try the other menu items before reordering more of the empanadas.

Our server was checking in on us very frequently and she explained the menu to us when we told her we hadn't been before. The manager on duty also had stopped by and introduced herself. They told us up front that tapas would be able to be out quickly with only up to a 10 minute wait but that larger plates could be up to a 45 minute wait. We ordered several tapas and one large plate half order. I don't know much about wine, personally, but the drinks we did get were amazing. The restaurant itself was very pretty as well, lots of natural lighting and then low lighting as the sun went down. The music was low and we were able to hear each other well, apart from one group across the room that would get rowdy but I can't blame them for having a good time. Our food was all delicious and I forgot to take pics of some of them because we devoured them so quickly. Not pictured, we ordered the grilled asparagus and focaccia. I highly recommend all of what we ordered.

I've had my fair share of Paulie's but never had the chance to come to Camerata...until now. I had been missing out for so long! We journeyed from white to red wines throughout the night. We started out with the Babylonstoren, a chenin blanc from South Africa. We then moved into pink (rose) with the Ana Beirut - a blend of cab sauv, syrah, and tempranillo grapes with a bit of skin contact to give the wine the pink color. Lastly we ordered the Guelbenzu - a red blend of tempranillo, cab sauv, syrah, and graciano. This full-bodied red was the absolute fan favorite of the table. Food options are on the light side: meat & cheese boards, bread, and small bites. We started out with the warm bread - while it's normally served with butter, there's an option to switch that out with olive oil & herbs which is what we did. We then went for the meat & cheese platter. We couldn't decide on which meats or cheeses, so we did the option of ordering all 8! This came with 4 delicious meats and 4 tasty cheeses (from Houston Dairymaids), also with crispy fava beans, olives, pickles, and bread. This was a good amount for our group of 4 to share. Elena was our server and she was absolutely OUTSTANDING. She vibed with us throughout the night and made sure that we were well-taken care of. I loved her energy along with her vast knowledge of wines. We got plenty of good recommendations from her during our time there. I'm super sad that Houston will be losing this gem permanently at the end of the year (and even more sad that I only discovered it in the last month of its existence). While I know that owner Paulie won't be moving this venture to a new spot, I do hope a descendant of Camerata manifests itself somewhere in Houston in the coming years.

It's part of the Paulie's Restaurant brands, but completely separate from the restaurant from what I could tell. Parking is a bit difficult, but after a bit of circling we were able to find a spot and make our way in what looked like the back entrance. It was very low key, and despite the sign, the door seemed almost hidden in that back little corner. The staff seemed to have a bit of a hipster vibe-- not unexpected given the Montrose area-- but were very friendly. They offered suggestions, but let us go with what we wanted to try. There's a food menu along with the drinks, but we were heading to the restaurant next door, so we passed on grabbing food. We ended up going with a couple of glasses of red and a couple of the specialty chocolates. My wife loved her salted caramel chocolate. I enjoyed my peppermint chocolate. For the glasses of wine, I've got better at home for bottles the same price as those glasses. My wife really enjoyed the vibe, but even if this place wasn't about to close down, I'm not sure I'd be coming back here often. It's just too hard to park.

I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. I will always treasure and remember Vinology and plan to support the business more in the future. Hats off to the folks who own and run this wine establishment.

First, we got there pretty early for our reservation. We sat almost immediately upon check in. Our waiter was in training but did a really good job. Ordered a whiskey sour. Was seated at the bar so I got to watch it be made. The bartender- man that guy never stopped. He was organized and just did his thing. So many pretty drinks were made while I was there watching. The pink one, whatever it was, was really pretty! On to the food. We got two apps, two meals, and two desserts. Husband ordered the Brussels, Steak Frites, and the Devil's Affogato. I got the Bacon covered Dates, the Pizza, and the Sticky Toffee Cake. The Brussels were good - husband liked them more than me. They were good. Had cashews in them. Little spicy. The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. The desserts - don't skip them! The Devils Affogato we had the first time we ate at Sixty Vines. Had to have it again. If you like coffee, chocolate and vanilla ice cream just get it. Unfortunately, just like my first visit, they were not fully met. We had reservations for brunch, and our party of six was seated immediately on the beautiful second floor. Service was efficient throughout the meal, with our waiter taking our orders promptly and the food arriving quickly. To start, we ordered the Brussels and the hummus. The Brussels were cooked very well and had an excellent crispy texture, but I felt the kung pao vinaigrette lacked the bold flavor I was expecting. A little more sweetness and acidity would have helped brighten the dish and make it more memorable. The hummus, on the other hand, pleasantly surprised me. Both the red beet hummus and edamame hummus were flavorful and enjoyable. They paired well with the crisp flatbread and even served as a nice accompaniment to some of our less exciting entrées. For my meal, I ordered the marinated artichoke pizza, which unfortunately did not stand out. I had the same issue that I experienced during my previous visit: the crust was simply too thick and chewy. After a few slices, my jaw was genuinely getting tired from all the chewing. The pizza also could have benefited from more bacon and a more generous amount of sauce, as it came across a bit dry overall. The campanelle suffered from a similar problem. While I understand that simplicity was likely the goal, the dish was so understated that it ended up feeling bland. It tasted like a slightly elevated version of buttered pasta with just a hint of white wine. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, but it lacked the depth of flavor needed to make it memorable. On a much more positive note, the carrot cake pancakes were easily the star of the meal. I tend to gravitate toward savory breakfasts, but my sister was eager to try them, and I am so glad she did. These were not your typical pancakes. They were thick, fluffy, and incredibly soft in the center. With toppings like maple butter, maple cream, mascarpone whip, candied walnuts, and cardamom sugar, I expected the dish to be overwhelmingly sweet. Surprisingly, everything was balanced quite well. While I cannot imagine finishing an entire plate by myself, anyone with a sweet tooth would absolutely love them. Overall, this restaurant continues to impress me with its atmosphere, service, and a few standout dishes, but the entrées I have tried have not lived up to the hype. If I were to return, I would happily order the hummus and carrot cake pancakes again, but I would probably skip the pizza and pasta in favor of trying something new.

We were able to snag some free street parking and wandered our way into a cute setup with mood lighting and plenty of seating. There's a central bar and plenty of outdoor patio space. We were immediately helped as soon as we found a table which I really appreciated. The menu is HUGE and has anything you could possibly want. We're big red wine fans so we settled on that page. J opted for a cab while I decided on a couple to sample before ultimately choosing a red blend. I appreciate that they're more than happy to give you a taste before committing to a glass. You can choose between 3 or 6oz pours, or a bottle. We also decided to share a cheese board with the Willoughby cheese which was soft and delicious! I appreciated how kind and accommodating the servers were as they frequently checked on us. This is a great spot to enjoy some wine with friends, on date night, or anything really! It has a relaxed atmosphere and is a pleasure to visit. Till next time!

We sat at the bar and the server took our order. I got a sweet wine and we split a small board. I got the brie with prosciutto and she got cheddar with salami. They do charge extra for the prosciutto cut. The jam that comes on the board is her favorite and it's delicious. We chatted with each other and with some gentleman that said they were regulars there. It was a lovely evening. I will definitely return so that I can try their s'mores board.

It took over what was literally the WORST Jamba Juice kiosk ever that always made me late to class when I was still in school. This was a much needed improvement, because you can't get turnt up on a smoothie no matter how hard your blessed little heart tries. Even the spelling of the Whole Foods Megacorp's 95th in-store bar will get you a little turnt up, either from sheer whimsy or out of college-educated just plain knowing better how certain things are spelled and how certain things are not spelled unless they are as full of shit as a Christmas turkey. The difference is whether you are on your first or seventh pint moreso than whether you skipped second breakfast and elevenses before showing up here in all of your splendor. Mondays are pizza/pint night for $5 between 6-8pm. Local Brew Fridays are $3 pints between 3-6pm. Write that one down. Also according to the internets, the last Thursday of the month is Zoo Beats Day so between 6-8pm some spare change marches into the coffers of the Houston Zoo's conservation efforts. If you would not drink for the critters then you are a very bad man. Get my hat Felicia, we're drinking for three.

They have happy hour, which sadly ends too early to really consider it "happy." (HH is Mon-Thu 2-5pm). They have a food menu of cheese plates and pizzas, or you can build your own pizza for $8. I created a pretty damn good pizza with chicken, broccolini and artichokes on wheat crust - da bomb. The server even mentioned she was gonna make one of her own. Weekly Specials: ::Mon 6-8pm: Slice of 'za and pint of beer for $5 :: Wed: $3 select pints, $4 select wines by the glass; HH food specials 6-8pm :: Fri: $3 local pints 3-6 pm :: Sun: $3 mimosas noon-2pm The Kirbside Bar opens at 11 am.

I might have just found one of my new favorite restaurants in Houston. What a great experience!…read more Recently, a good friend dined here and immediately called me to tell me how great it was. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I will be back.

Had a 5:30pm resy, seated outside right away that Saturday evening--it was a full house 45 minutes later. You'd be a fool to skip the dilly bread--a complete fool! The rolls are pillowy and warm. I could eat the butter by the pint. The fingerlinging potato dish is also a must have...pretty small for $19 but tastes like heaven. Spicy! Zaddy was being a bit of a clutz that evening and knocked over my $20 mezcal cocktail, so what does he do? Orders me another one! (That's why he's "zaddy") ....kind of wish he hadn't...so wasn't worth the price tag. Skip it. The chicken dinner was definitely the winner--fresh, juicy breast, crispy skin...don't be cute, you won't finish it unless your party has at least 4 in it! The flies were ruthless! Very annoying! They were acting like the geekers that come bother you just outside your favorite fried chicken joint in south Dallas! Our waitress brought out a table fan so that made the experience a little more tolerable. The chocolate peanut butter pie tasted like a salt rock and the lemon chiffon pie had great flavor but not lemony enough for me. All in all this place is a bit pricey but truly a gem! Until next time, Nobie!
