I had high hopes for this place as I had heard decent things from collegues (maybe the original?). I was very disappointed with the experience I had here. We went in at around 3:45 on a Saturday and were seated 50 minutes later (wait time was supposedly 30 minutes). The place didn't have many people waiting so it was weird how long it took, but we soon found out why. We placed our order (after about 20 minutes of waiting)with the waitress who was excellent, but definitely juggling many more tables than she should have had to service. We received our appetizers pretty quickly. The fried mozzarella was delicious and so were the meatballs. The only criticism here was the 4 tiny meatballs we got with mediocre amount of sauce and a thin slice of focaccia for $15. Not worth the price. The pizza which at most other pizza joints takes a few minutes for some reason took 40+ minutes to come out after the apps. I have no idea why the pizza took so long, but this is likely the reason for the long wait and what do we get for a 40 minute wait and $25? A pretty mid pizza. Uneven cuts, uneven and a small amount of sauce and cheese and maybe 10 slices of pepperoni for a half cheese half pepperoni medium pizza. Not much flavor, dry spots, and the long wait, I didn't even eat that much of this pizza since I had no more appetite. Being seated in a corner with the oven smoke collecting around me burning my eyes and irritating my nose didn't help either. I rarely make negative reviews of any spot, but felt so robbed. This was not the fault of the waitress who was very nice and checked on us a few times. The place as a whole seems to get plentiful business but with many poor experiences. The pizza needs quality control and to come out faster. Ive had many better meals around the area with way more bang for your buck and with better quality. I have literally had better pizza from a small corner store in West Philly for less than half the price of a pie here. I do not recommend this location and am fearful to try any other location unless things are actually different. Was a huge let down. read more

The last two times at Sally's, the pizza has not been good. I am not sure if they are just not training the pizza cooks and they are constantly having staff turn over but the last two times in the last month or so, the pizza has been terrible. Even the salads are being made different. I can find a local pizza place that's cheaper and good. Sally's need to be more consistent for me to stay a regular. Not confident that will help- especially since they are growing so fast. Probably too fast for their own good. read more

I've heard so many great things about Sally's and watched a bunch of youtube videos on it. The one time I was in New Haven a few years ago, they did not take my takeout order because they were "booked" for the day. Yes you read right, a rejected takeout order. shrugs, so disappointed. Fast forward to years later, I'm in Woburn and excited to finally try the acclaimed pizza. I ordered a mozzarella and tomato pie for takeout online and got there 15 mins later. And waited...and waited...and waited. I checked with the host multiple times and was reassured the pizza will be out soon. In the end waited about 55 minutes for a darn pizza. This was on a random Wednesday at 2pm, there were only 2 tables in the dining room and a few other takeout orders. What a terrible and bizarre experience. The reason i'm giving 2 stars and not 1 is because the host felt so bad he gave a full refund after my multiple complaints. The pizza itself was very light, tasty, tomato sauce was tangy, one of the better pies in the state. However after 2 bizarre experiences with Sally's , it's safe to say I'm not going to risk a third. read more

Sally's recently opened and they've got a few kinks to work out. While the pizza was excellent, our experience was subpar. What we ate: - Caesar Salad: The dressing on this salad was much more of an oil and vinegar caesar than a creamy dressing. That was a bit surprising. - White Pie: Great simple pie. - Firebird: Great pizza and the peppers were hot! Our experience was inline with the other reviews thus far: the crust was a far too burnt on about half of the pizza which made it indelible. I love a crispy well done crust, but this was way too burnt. As far as service goes, we sat at the bar and the bartenders barely paid us any attention. After receiving our drinks and salad, we sat waiting for roughly an hour for the pizza. During that time, no one bothered to check on us or give us any update. While waiting for our food, the bartender began to cleanup the bar with a hefty dose of bleach cleaner that lingered for most of our meal. I'm looking forward to going back in a couple months, once they have the kinds worked out. read more

First time at the Woburn location, very different vibe from the original Sally's in New Haven. The apizza is "Sally's-like," thin and charred (a bit too charred in places around the crust edge), decent amount of good quality pepperoni that curled up in the hot oven , as it should . Something was missing though; maybe the sauce wasn't as tasty as the original Sally's, or the oven doesn't have the oils built up yet . I'd give the flavor an "8.0" compared with the "9.5" for the original Sally's . Very good but not the same . The house salad was good but $14 is a steep price to pay for it , and almost $30'for the large pepperoni apizza is high also although you can't compare this with any other pizza in the area other than maybe Pepe's. So patrons will pay it if they want the apizza experience. Restaurant was busy at 1:30 pm on a weekday , but service was slow - the waiter was nice and accommodating and apologized but management needs to either hire more staff or figure out a better system for getting water, drinks and the food out faster. Happy that Sally's is available without having to drive to New Haven now (for us true devotees ) but there is some room for improvement . read more

Walking into the place there was alot of staff and the Host were attentive. We sat down and ordered and ordered the fried mozz w tomato vodka sauce. So... I'm surprised to award the coveted "5 Star Award" tonight to "Sally's APIZZA" in Woburn. Bravo!!! I had heard about this place that opened in December... has its roots in New Haven, CT going back to the 1900's, and generally known as one of three restaurants to bring pizza to the country. I looked up the excellent reviews posted by my fellow Elite YELP reviewers and my pizza loving Son insisted that we give it a try as he's been to the original restaurant. So... couldn't get Open Table reservations until after 8 pm. It was 3 pm. So we decided to go early before it opened and beat the expected line that forms prior to opening at 5 pm. We were there at 4:30 and parked right in front of the door. Staff could be seen bustling around setting tables and firing up the pizza oven and prepping dough and other food. I went up to the locked door and a hostess came out to tell me that they open in a little while. I explained that we had no reservations but was there a chance to get a table? She replied that they hold a few tables for those who are at the door the moment they open. So... we waited in the car. Within a few minutes, other cars started arriving in front with people waiting inside their car. Hmmm. At 4:45 I said to our team, let's go stand outside the door. Boom!!! Everyone else left their cars and we had started the line!! As the clock ticked towards 5, there were about 30 people waiting in line!! At 4:55 a manager popped out and asked if anyone had early reservations. Hands went up. He said, "come on in". The remaining line stayed and kept growing. 5:01 - doors open. We're first and they remembered me. Bingo, we were lucky and got a nice table. Yay. Menus were handed to us, and immediately we were greeted by our waitstaff, James. Poured us each some water out of their nice bottle and asked if we'd like something from the bar as we pursued the menu (which we had already looked at while sitting in the car) Here's what we ordered: Appetizers: Fried calamari and baked clams - a 10! (James encouraged us to put our whole order in as the opening crowd surge would hit the kitchen shortly) Entrees: Chicken Francese - an 11 Pizzas: Tomato, cheese and clam - all 12's. From order to serve- 20 minutes. They are really dialing in past there opening day a first few weeks jitters!!! So, the atmosphere, service and especially the food earn my 5 star rating which is reserved for only the exceptional dining experience. Their thin brick oven dough cooked to perfection. Pizza served on square trays, steaming hot as it's placed on your table by various other waitstaff. James comes right by to check on the food. Notices we got an extra cheese pizza instead of the extra tomato. He says, " no charge, I'll be right back"!! 8 minutes later the steaming correct pizza landed. Bravo!! Ok. So make reservations on Open Table days in advance. Go early. Take home what you don't finish (I'm writing this review as my wife heated up some for us all today) Great! IMHO. The ambiance was relaxed and eclectic. The pictures on the wall seemed to be focused on The Cars and Ric Ocasek, there is an autographed photo of him on the wall. The Good: Superb New Haven style pie. Cheese and garlic. Cooked to perfection. Honey, cheese and ricotta. Constructed perfectly. No blobs of ricotta. Just enough to add flavor. The Bad: I'm from RI and this is the closest Sally's for me. The Ugly: Cleanliness needs. My plate had a dirty underside and the table was not wiped down sufficiently. Unfortunately this location has done away with the true LARGE (18-20%) pies. That means paying significantly more to feed a family with multiple smaller pies. I will say that I tried the pesto pasta last time I was there and it is phenomenal. However, ditching the large pies and continued issues with the pickup situation have brought this place down a little since it first opened. read more

I have never tried the original Sally's or Frank Pepe's for a comparison. Char was good without being so burnt that would have been inedible. We recently had lunch at Sally's Apizza in Woburn, MA- The place is fairly new, and in a phenomenal space. Love watching the pizza being made right in front of us. Went out for pizza tonight. I heard this place was the new rage north of Boston. On the positive side the hostess was smart and polite. The server was very good and professional. Led to a good experience right off the bat. Started with appetizers. Brussels sprouts -B. Calamari - B- and meatballs B. I ordered a drink which was expensive and small. Stick with the sodas. We ordered classic cheese pizza and a medium pepperoni. It could serve 8. We only had 5 so we had a good amount of left overs. The pizzas were very tasty and the crusts were crisp. We have been there a few times. The Firebird pizza is very good, if you can wait for it. The second time we went, it was a two hour wait for pizza. We just went in for a 6:00 reservation, ordered, then after we sat with our drinks for a bit and ordered our food, we were told the wait for pizza was over an hour. Last time we heard that it was two hours. We left without eating. They really need to up the service, as there are many reviews saying the same thing. read more

Sally's is my favorite pizza in the North Shore. Since it opened we've eaten there probably 10 times and order take out often. If you enjoy New Haven style pizza this is the place to go. Sally's doesn't leave you feeling gross after you eat it. Somehow it's 'light'. Not too salty, not greasy. Order a large cheese, the arancini if you dine in and the garden salad. They had a seasonal pizza--potato, leek and rosemary that I still think about hopefully they'll bring it back! The service wasn't great when they first opened but it seems to be better now. The only downside is the parking lot. It's a mess but everyone in the area knows that, just be prepared. read more

YES first off there was NO WAIT and you can make a reservation!!! The Vibe and atmosphere was great and Monica was really nice in fact everyone there was nice!!! and the the food was pretty much the same AND it's not a 2.5 hour drive from where we live, so all in all it was without a doubt great food and service and they did live up to Sallys rep!! I was heading to Cava in Woburn when I stumbled across Sally's Apizza. I have seen all the hype about it, so I decided to give it a shot. It was around 3PM on a Saturday afternoon, so finding a seat at the bar was very easy. The bartender was responsive and provided my drink and took my order in a timely fashion. Ordered a small tomato and mozzarella with peperoni and bacon. While I enjoyed the cooking style of the pizza, the pizza itself lacked any flavor at all. Perhaps that's the style for this type of pizza, but it's certainly not something that would bring me back. I'd give the pizza a rating of mediocre. Had a frozen Aperol spritz - that was decent, but would benefit from a shot of aperol (along with the prosseco) after it has been poured into the glass. The issue that really bothered me was the lack of sanitary behavior by the incoming bartender. An older gentleman showed up still dressed in a jacket, scarf, and knit gloves (missing the fingers). Instead of taking time to take off his outside apparel and properly prepare for work, he started rearranging things on the bar, including making drinks (WITH HIS GLOVES ON). Can you imagine using your winter gloves while you are outside, then coming into a restaurant and using those same gloves to make other people's drinks? Health code violation?? He was making mixed drinks, pouring draft beers, handling garnish and glassware all while wearing those nasty, dirty gloves. Finally he took off his jacket, scarf and gloves which he stored under the slushie machine and went right to work handling bar towels and unloading the clean glassware from the dishwasher (all WITHOUT EVERY WASHING HIS HANDS). I'm hoping some manager sees this review and appropriately addressed the situation before these unsanitary conditions get some of their patrons sick. The pizzas are huge and delicious. We ordered 2 medium pizzas and we had more than enough to take home. Could easily feed a small family. We ordered one sausage with toppings and the potato rosemary. I love the potato rosemary! It came out crispy and delicious with white sauce as it's base. They offer a nice selection of Prosecco drinks and nonalcoholic drinks as well. Loved the limoncello Prosecco. Make a reservation beforehand as this place gets packed. Servers were nice and attentive. Total bill was around $90. read more

As big fans of Pepe's, my wife and I have been eager to try Sally's, so we were super excited to finally make it for dinner on New Year's Day 2024. Unfortunately, they seem to really be struggling with the launch. We arrived at 4:50pm for a 5:00pm reservation, but we didn't get seated until 5:20pm. They were very disorganized, letting line-cutters in and giving mixed messages about reservations. Then, our pizzas didn't come out until a full hour after we sat down. They said they were having trouble getting the ovens up to temperature, so literally the whole restaurant was sitting without pizza until over an hour past opening. Really not a good look... Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the pizzas we were served. They were 100% crunch and 0% chew, far beyond what is typical for New Haven-style apizza. I didn't find the sauce or cheese to be anything spectacular either. Maybe if the cook on the pizza had been better then I would have enjoyed it more, but given how frustrating it was to wait almost an hour and a half for our dinner, I'm not sure I'll be returning to give them a second chance. The worst part was we ended up paying $100 for two pizzas, a salad, and a soda. We weren't offered any comps despite the significant delay and subpar pizza. Bummer... read more

Sally's Apizza is finally open in Woburn MA.  The very highly anticipated opening in MA has been delayed close to a year with Coming Soon on the building for the longest time. They serve up their iconic New Haven style apizzas, salads, and drinks, full service dine-in and takeout here.  I have been craving a White Clam Pie from Sally's, but I wasn't driving to New Haven anytime soon. The Woburn location is about a half hour from my place. I've ordered CT pizzas from Frank Pepe's in the meantime, which has several locations in the region. I decided to head down to Sally's Apizza in Woburn after work and there was already a line outside on the red carpet before doors opening. They had their official grand opening and ribbon cutting on December 14, 2023 at 5pm with staff, media (NBC 10) and politicians present. There were also photographers taking pics outside and inside the restaurant and bar. Once inside, I decided to dine-in and was promptly seated a table. The L-shaped layout has table seating, booths and seating up at the full service bar offering  4-6 draft beers, wine, and cocktails.. The pizza kitchen area with fire oven is visible from the dining area. There was dance music blasting over the speakers. I started out with the oven charred Brussel Sprouts ($9.50 plus tax), which were smothered with balsamic dressing and parmesan cheese. These brussel were pretty good, charred outside, hot & firm overall, and not burnt (other places overcook them).  Next, the Small 12" New Haven Original Clam Apizza ($19.50 plus tax) was topped with mozzarella, minced clams, garlic and parmesan cheese on a thin crust, soft towards the center and crispy, charred along the edges. While the soft thin crust part was good, which had small clam pieces and lots of garlic & oil and cheese, the edge crust was dry and had a burnt taste. For dessert, the Cannoli Pie ($9 plus tax) was a sweet very dense ricotta cheese filling pie slice with a thin crust and caramel sauce, very good. The check was presented and they took $9.50 off the bill, total with tax and before tip was $32.06. Overall, a good meal with delayed service from them being very busy. While the Brussel Sprouts and the Cannoli Pie were very good, the clam pizza was okay. I would order a Tomato Pie next time since the table next to me was really enjoying it. Sally's Apizza opened on 12/14 with lines around the corner which I assumed meant they were turning out great pizza, but in actuality it turns out they are...just...THAT...S L O W‼ So...I arrived at 530p and was told (in a nearly empty restaurant that had only been opened for 30 min per the sign on the door) that there was no waiting list & the next reservation was at 8p. I was not offered the 1st come 1st serve bar, just turned away. I made a reservation for 8p online, but returned to the restaurant at 715p. I hoped I might be seated early, but I was also content to get a glass of wine and wait the 45 min. At this point I was told I could sit at the bar if there were open seats, which there were! I Sat down at the bar at 720p. There were 3 bartenders and ours took 1/2 the drink order and walked away. There were only two of us. Weird. We had looked at the menu ahead of time so we knew what we wanted & placed our order pretty much immediately by 730p. We each ordered a small pizza. At 810p still no food so we asked our bartender/server who after "going to check" told us it would "only be another 15 to 20 min." I expressed that this was a little unacceptable. Pizza one came out as promised, 15 minutes later, delivered by a manager named Siobhan (Shivon?). She did not apologize, but said she "heard about table 12 taking too long" & was there anything else she could get us?" Umm...yeah the other pizza we ordered an hour ago! She said to let her know if we wanted a dessert later, she would "take care of it". I just want to food I ordered! I didn't want to order/wait for anything else. I was starving & I wanted to leave before they closed at 11p!! Since we didn't want dessert, nothing was done to make our experience better or salvage us as future customers. Not sodas off the bill, no discount off our almost $70 check, not GC to give them another chance.‍ Things happen & I get that, but there are ways to recover and "make it right". I would not go back. The food was OK. Absolutely not great and NOT worth a nearly 2 hr wait when all was said & done. Save your money & your time. This place doesn't value either. read more

Welp. I thought I'd have a review for the food, but I couldn't even get in. Did not have a good experience as a first-time "customer". We went at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon, and were asked if we had a reservation. After telling them no, they said "sorry we're not accepting walk-ins, only reservations...but you could try to sit at the bar". Well, the bar was full. But the dining room sure wasn't. I asked the girl if we could wait for a table, and she said "no, but the next open reservation is at 8pm". When pointing to the 10+ open tables, she said, "sorry those are taken". Lol. The place is practically empty and it's a Sunday afternoon. And listen, I understand that reservations are preferred, especially for a new place like this that's popular. However, I've never heard of a place not accepting walk-ins AT ALL. This will deter new customers... Very disappointed... read more

Had Chopped Italian sandwich for lunch and it was delicious. Also ordered the 10" personal pizza which was excellent. Their lunch hours are very generous from 11:30 to 4 pm. The service was a tad slow, but very friendly and attentive once the order was placed. Overall a very enjoyable experience. read more

In a young boy's life, there's a defining moment when he truly steps into manhood--whether it's that first job, that first shave, that first drive, or now, that first slice. This is my rite of passage at Sally's. Ah, Beetz. While I didn't know Salvatore Consiglio personally, I assume he'd be pleased at the turnout for opening night. Sally's did their best to prepare for pandemonium and save for a couple service snafus and delays (bunch of tables seemed to get comp'd apps for the wait on pizzas), otherwise, they navigated it well, all things considered. No takeout. No reservations. Just legions of One Bite wanna-bes (myself included) wrapped around the block in puffer jackets, waiting to get a whiff of some of the best pizza in America. Oh. And a booty-thumping DJ, evidently (although I suspect this is just opening-weekend fanfare). The restaurant itself was modern and sprawling, with an open concept, floor-to-ceiling windows, a huge wrap-around bar, and almost enough seating to accommodate the droves of mini-Portnoy's taking selfies with their pies, as if they just announced a Facebook relationship status together. Admittedly, it was humbling to arrive just minutes into their grand opening, watching the pizza bourgeoisie flaunt their golden tickets through the windows to zombie onlookers, shuffling along the red carpet sidewalk like the Walking Dead. And though we had to park in Burlington, the line moved relatively quickly, and soon enough, we entered the pearly gates of St. Sally. We opted for brussel sprouts as an app, which were overcooked and overly balsamic sweet. That said, the crown jewel of New Haven translates its coal-fired and sauce-forward pie to perfection with the same thin, crispy, chewy char that we've come to salivate over on Wooster Street. So good that no one even cares they're shaped like that concerning birthmark on Grandpa's back. In the end, as I took my last contemplative bite, I couldn't help but think, "Salvatore, if you're watching from pizza heaven, you've truly left an indelible mark on New England and beyond." Sally's Apizza in Woburn is more than a restaurant; it's a cosmic convergence of crispy crusts and celestial sauce. So, as I exit the pizza paradise, my belly full and my soul seasoned, I raise my slice to the maestro of mozzarella, the sultan of sauce, and the new grand wizard of Woburn--Salvatore Consiglio. May every pizza pilgrimage delightful, and every bite a reminder that in this chaotic universe, there's always room for another slice of happiness. read more

After a long wait, my family and I were finally about to make our way to Sally's. Of course, everyone knows the New Haven gold-standard for pizza is lead by Sally's (amongst a few other places). We had a reservation. The young ladies at the front desk were awesome. Told us how long the wait would be and that they would do their best to get us sat ASAP. It was a busy Tuesday night for sure! Great to see so many fans of pizza and fans of Sally's visiting Woburn! The kitchen set up is awesome since all the customers can watch the pizza being prepped and cooked! It is a little different than most pizza joints! We were sat at a table and quickly approached with water and menus. We ordered a caesar salad with a large cheese pizza. It was kind of late in the night so no one wanted an app or something other than the main attraction...pizza! This is when the issue shows-up. After we ordered, we received the caesar salad after a very reasonable time. However, we never received the large cheese pizza until close to 1 hour. I did not time the difference between ordering and receiving the pizza but I can confidently say it was between 50 and 70 minutes. We were given an appetizer of calamari at the 40 minute mark and told that it was "comped" but it still took approx. 25 minutes for the pizza to come! The pizza was excellent....well cooked and tasty! Everyone at the table loved it. I am not a huge fan of well cooked pizza and I like more sauce, but this was great pizza! We understand that the location is still working out the kinks. I do not hold the delay against anyone. It happens and it is part of opening a very busy spot for only a week! I plan on visiting again....maybe on a quiet night in late January or early February. Once the crowd swell is gone, we will all get an idea of how great Sally's really is. I gave them 4 stars. Important: parking is at a premium at the Woburn Village. Be sure to leave enough time because on most nights, it is tough to find a spot! read more

Waited an hour to pickup a takeout pizza that literally tasted like soot and left black ash all over my lips (pic below is after 1 small slice) and face and shirt. Maybe off bc it's a Friday night and busy but I don't understand how a pizza can be so very floppy and burnt at the same time. Clearly need to clean their oven. The restaurant was not crowded. The person at the front door was about as creepy as it gets. We sat at the bar and the bartender was unhappy about something and her service showed. She was almost non existent. The pizza was soggy and when you picked up a piece the entire topping and cheese slid off. The flavor was good but it was not the nice crispy pizza I was expecting.
