Tia and her stylists are amazing! I have been a client of Tia's for about 8 years and you get what you pay for. Most ladies would agree that when you find the stylist that's meant for you, you will follow her to the ends of the earth and Tia is that for me. She is an excellent colorist and knows her stuff. I brought my mother in from out of town and she is VERY picky and particular(and slightly high maintenance) with her hair. Thuy took her on and was kind, personable, patient and did an amazing job with her, like she had known her forever. Having not dyed my hair in years, I finally decided to treat myself and get my hair done. I am so glad that I chose this salon! Kayla was my stylist and she did an awesome job with my hair. I went from my natural black to an ashy balayage and was impressed she could do it in one session. Kayla is super sweet and was able to give me exactly what I wanted. Came in without an appointment and was so lucky that Christy had time to cut my hair as her 10 o'clock got canceled. I needed a new look and wanted to go short. Christy was amazing. Love the customer service she provided And I absolutely love the look. She even took the time to show me several ways to style it and how I could do it easily myself. an added note regarding my 7/9/17 review. I was contacted right away by email from Tawny @ the salon. Who did apologize and offered to refund my money and offered a complimentary fix. As this is the 1st time in over 50 years I've ever agreed to a refund I was surprised at the offer but pleased. However, as for the complimentary fix. I don't think so. Okay seriously... I just met Tia today, but I already love her. Ive actually gotten my hair done at this salon before by Jessika and she did a really good job too! But the funny coincidence is that Tia just so happened to relocate here (fate???) from Canvas Studio and I've heard amazing things about her from a few friends, seen her work and she's seriously one of the most talented hair stylists in this area! I'm not a big hair junkie so I kind of just expected to go with the flow and trust her skills and expertise. I showed her a few reference pics to give an idea but I didn't have an exact vision, lol. (That's usually how my hair appts go haha yay for spontaneity) But I really appreciated how detailed and thorough she was about each step to ensure that I was comfortable throughout the entire process. She was sweet, humble, VERY knowledgable about hair and easy to connect with! As for execution.. she not only met my expectations, but exceeded it way beyond what I had in mind! I'm not even a regular here (only because I'm very low maintenance with hair) but I 100% recommend this place to anyone because of their outstanding customer service. I have been to this salon several times and they are good at helping you achieve your hair goals. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because I have been a little frustrated with their booking process and customer service. There were times in the past year when I would not get a reply for many days when I inquired about an appointment & I would have to follow up, or not get a reply at all. I wanted to book an appointment in the upcoming months and have two hair stylists in mind and requested them as my preference but was only provided with availability of a totally different hair stylist. I wasn't offered other options. I gave some dates as to when I would be free and the next thing I know I was notified that an appointment has already been booked for me - they did not check with me to see if the time of the day would work out for me and just finalized the booking without checking with me first. They've got great hair stylists that are skilled at what they do but I hope that they would accept this feedback and work on improving this process, which will make them a better business. read more

I've gone here twice and have always been pleased with the result. The first time I got a balayage from Elise and it turned out great! She really took her time to understand exactly what I wanted. I came back 4 months later to get my roots blended so it would grow out nicer between appointments. Also a great job! But don't take my word for it. Been going to this Salon for about 5 years now with Christy as my hairdresser. She was recommended to me to do my wedding hair in 2008 and I've been a loyal customer ever since. I go back every 3-4 months for a trim and Christy will gladly cut and style my hair. She will even go an extra mile when I schedule my haircut around an evening event pinning and curling my hair for the festivities I'll be attending. She knows her products well and gives great advice for hair care. I colored my hair (after about a decade of having nightmare hair color appts) and I sitll love my highlights 4 months later. I haven't used the other hairdressers but I've seen them cut hair and they all look professional and know what they're doing. Highly recommend this salon. read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a week. First off the salon is beautiful. Absolutely easy to get to, ample parking, and very modern salon equipment. I had made my appointment 3 weeks in advance. I requested a cut and all over color. Simple right? Well it seems like I didn't ask for anything complicated equals not a big service. When I arrived I was greeted and met my stylist. I explained what I wanted and she said no problem! Here's the thing, I am Latina with dark, curly, heavy hair. I should have walked out the moment I sat down. Here's the thing every stylist is Asian, which is completely fine! But 90% of their clientele is as well of Asian decent, the other 10% Caucasian. Simple, flat, and straight hair. Let's start with the color, I came home with a chunk of greys! She was suppose to color my hair, but I'm assuming she didn't use a color strong enough to cover my Grey's. Then when my hair was washed, my whole back got soaking wet, as well as half the front. The front! I was like, seriously? The stylist seemed so scared with the scissors in her hand, I should have walked out then. When she finished cutting it she began to blow dry then ask if I wanted it in my "natural style" I said sure! Holy cow guys! I almost broke down in tears! Wait... I did! Especially after the comment of "so cute, basic and natural". I quickly pulled it back, paid and left the salon. When I got home, I pulled it down and it was in the worst shape ever. Long pieces here and there. Short on that end, no shape, and zig zaggeed, absolutely not what I had asked for. I had to have my husband help me cut it just so it didn't look so hideous. Moral of the story: if you have difficult and unusual hair that is not "straight and simple" stay away from here! They will mess it up! read more

Great place to get a haircut, new style, coloring, etc. Christy was my stylist there. Very friendly and professional place. Very clean and quality hair products for purchase. Love the atmosphere and set up of the salon. I've always had great cuts and colors at this salon. You have to call and book ahead as their appointments fill up quickly with walk ins. Great location and easy to find too. Prices are very affordable compared to the higher end salons. Highly recommend this salon for your next haircut and style. KATHY ROCKS!!! Not only did she do a great job she's super cool and fun to chat with. I randomly found the salon on Instagram and desperately needed weight taken out of my hair. I emailed hoping I could get a cut before an event 2 days later (crazy request, i know) and they emailed back super quick saying Kathy could take me. During the cut she blended out the crappy layers done elsewhere and was able to give me the light airy feeling I wanted. Coming in I honestly thought my last cut was pretty good, but boy was I wrong!! I normally just get highlight. This time after I had my baby girl, I wanted to try something new and a fresh look so I went for a Bayalage style. I went for a Ash Blonde with a hint of grey!!! it wasss BEAUTIFULLLLLL!! I've received many compliments on my hair color... What I appricate about this salon is that, they take the time to ask you questions about your hair coloring history. Horrible experience. Grace ruined my hair. She was supposed to cover the gray roots but made the color of my roots so dark that when she pulled the color through to the ends, it made the rest of my hair too dark too. She had to bleach my hair to lighten it. It lightened my hair alright but now I have a dark band of color because there was no way to just lighten the roots enough to match the rest of my hair color. All I can do now is wait for it to grow out. The haircut was just as bad. Never again! read more

I scheduled an appt for my 5 year old to get her first haircut. I had been looking at various places for awhile, initially looking at kid haircut places. But after showing my daughter some haircut ideas she surprised me with excitement and described to me exactly what she wanted. I then decided to look at "real" salons because I thought maybe they would do a better job, and yay! I found 44th St Salon. We had an appt with Kathy, and my daughter told her she wanted bangs and a slidey thing which was an A-line cut. I was really impressed by Kathy and her interaction with my daughter. She treated her like a normal client in the sense that she listened to her and gave her the time and attention to detail on her hair. But she was also patient and gentle. My daughter's haircut turned out better than I had hoped and she is also totally in love with it. I gave her some loose beachy curls and it looked so good - I am kind of jealous that she has better hair than me! I might have to schedule an appt to get a matching haircut! My first and (likely) last experience at 44th Street Salon was mediocre. From start to end, Grace spoke to me once. And that was at the very beginning when she asked how I wanted my hair cut. She spent the entire time talking to her colleagues and didn't make any effort to engage with me. I don't like small talk but honestly, it was quite awkward. I felt she spent more time blow drying my hair than actually cutting it. Also, the haircut wasn't anything special. I could have gone to supercuts for the same cut and spent half the price. read more

I've always had good experiences here except for with Grace. She did not listen to my requests. I asked for a cut a couple inches below my shoulders and ended up with a bob. I also explicitly asked for it to be longer in the back and shorter in the front yet she cut it in the opposite way. The two sides are uneven and all in all worst cut of my life. read more

Made an appointment here for a partial balayage and cut- I need a good trim and more blond put in my hair. I loved the girl I used to go to but sometimes it wasn't enough brightness or color and she was just too far for me to travel to. I explained to my stylist Grace that I needed more color and pop but I was afraid of something brassy/yellow and also didn't love the ashy look, so something in between. I am not the best an explaining things so I really wanted to trust just trust Grace that she knew what I meant and knew how to do it. The color turned out PERFECT, looks natural but also bright and really pretty with a lot of dimension and movement. I recommend scheduling an appointment as you can see they have a LOT of happy clients so last minute walkins would be tough. I see some people complain about prices here. Well they're posted right by the register as you walk in and you're an adult-ask! As a regular guy it took me a bit to get used to paying $30-$40 instead of Great Clips $20 but 1) I see the same girl every time so she knows my crazy hair & 2) You get what you pay for. So I took my aunt here yesterday to get her hair lighter and have them do a balayage style. This was her 35th birthday gift from me. I was looking for a place to take her because my hair stylist canceled on me due to a family emergency. I found 44th street thru Instagram and commented asking them if they had availability the next day. Tawny responded saying they had a last minute cancellation so there was an opening at 12 noon. I was grateful that she was able to get me in as I was very impressed with the photos on Instagram. Any way, the next day (day of appointment) the stylist called around 10:30ish asking if we can push it back to 12:30 because she mentioned her previous client was running late. No problem, I agreed that that was fine. By 12:30 we walked in and were told to be seated and that she'd be with us shortly. I didn't stay, I had errands to run so I left. I came back around 3:00 PM thinking that should've been enough time. My aunt did not text me that it was done so I waited in my car since I had my dog. It was then 4:00 PM and I was getting a bit annoyed so I walked in there to check. I was shocked to see that she was at the sink about to get the dye washed out. Long story short, we did not leave till almost 6:00 PM!!!! What kind of hair appointment takes almost 6 hours?!?! And on top of that, her hair looked nothing like the picture we used as a reference via email. I was extremely upset that they didn't even try to compensate us for the long wait. According to my aunt, it seems she was double booked and was busy with another client while working on her hair. Unless that's just the way they work. I ended up paying $290!!!! $290 for almost 6 hours and not the the results we wanted?!?! So not only did I waste half of a day, I wasted nearly $300 dollars. I'm in the military and don't get much time off as it is. It's always very annoying to deal with people who don't respect being on time. I won't be going here again. I went to 44th Street Salon a week before my wedding. Jessika was my stylist and I LOVED her. My hair cut and dye was a pretty big job. My hair hadn't been cut in over two years and it was very long (down to my waist). I brought in a photo of the reddish brown color I wanted and told her I wanted layered hair with a side part. She did exactly what I asked for and then some. The color is amazing and the cut was done so well. The layers are beautiful and no matter how I style my hair, it looks wonderful. She did some curling/waves afterward instead of the usual straightening with a flat iron and I loved it. She did exactly what I wanted for my wedding day so I got to try it out beforehand. I will definitely be coming back to her for trims and fresh color. I am VERY picky about who cuts my hair and Jessika did an A++ job. :) read more

Literally, the worst haircut I've ever received. I saw girl named Jessica, who is very nice, and personable. Had no idea how to cut a man's hair, use scissors try to do the fade rather than clippers. Did give a nice shampoo but when I pointed out the areas where the hair was "choppy" she said it was the shape of my head. I literally drove across the street to a place called hairclips and got my haircut by a girl named Kim there who did an awesome job fixing it.
