The stylist I had wasn't very talkative and when she did say something, it was extremely hard to understand or communicate with her, but she did understand what kind of cut I wanted, so that was important. I made an appointment for my mother in law and I to get our hair colored and cut. Quyen worked on my hair and another stylist worked on my mother in law. Quyen is very good with colors. I had a balayage ombre before and it had been 5 months since I last colored my hair so my hair was very brassy, not pretty at all. I decided to go lighter all over and get a balayage. Quyen spent 3.5 hrs coloring my hair and the color turned out so soft and beautiful. My balayage highlights blended nicely and they were so subtle and natural looking. It's so hard to get an ashy color with Asian hair, but she managed to get the color to look so pretty, not orange at all. My hair felt light, bouncy and soft after the coloring. Made an appointment the day before and Quyen was able to fit me in to her schedule the following day. I rarely get haircuts (been about 5-6 years since I've been to a salon to get one) because I usually am never satisfied. Decided to take a chance with Quyen. Showed her a photo and she glanced quickly and she knew what to do. I was a bit hesitant because she kept cutting and cutting when I asked to not take too much length off. When she finished she put it all in the front for me to see and I absolutely fell in love. I asked her to keep the length and add layers for dimension and she did exactly that! I walked in with super long and flat hair that didn't frame my face and she was able to completely transform it. I love that she didn't rush through it and thoroughly took her time to make it all blend together. In the past when I asked for layers, it only looked good with curls but since I wear my hair straight a majority of the time I wanted it to look good straight. I had been going to Aveda in Fullerton maybe 3x a year when I had longer hair, but now that I have gone short and am in need of a trim every 5+ weeks, I needed to find a more affordable than a $55/$65/$75/$85 Aveda cut and something closer to home. My first visit there I was a little unsure as I don't speak any Vietnamese and 1/2 of the stylists there don't speak much English. Quyen seems to always be booked and while she does try to help with translating that's just not always possible as she has her own clients. So I did try multiple stylists bringing in several photos of the look I was going for to get my point across found one that understood my hair and style. An $85 cut this is not but I do get a no-frills $55/$65 level cut for $25. I come on the weekends and usually see them dolling up a whole wedding party in the chairs next to me, the transformation up close is AMAZING. read more

Let me start off by saying I live in Los Angeles and found out about Quyen through one of her clients whom I spotted in a boba shop in LA in June 2018 because of her gorgeous hair. I'm no stranger from the process of achieving a balayage/ombre look, but before going to Quyen, my hair got totally fried at a salon in LA that I tried out since I just moved from SD, and the color just did NOT turn out the way I wanted it to, and it cost me almost $550. Before heading to my appointment with Quyen, I texted her photos of what I wanted and she even called me to ensure she understood the vision I had for my hair. During the appointment, which lasted a little over 5 hours (which I'm used to), she was very thorough and professional and she made the summer hair of my dreams come true!!!! I'm absolutely over the moon with my hair now - it's even better than the way it looked BEFORE my hair got ruined months before I met Quyen.
