I had a terrible experience here. I asked for a face frame of platinum blonde / cool ashy highlights, and I got a full half head of yellow warm highlights. It took Erica sooooo long to do the highlights, and so at the end even though I wasn't happy with it, I just said it was ok. Within 5 days the highlights were even more yellow / warm and I had only washed my hair once (with high end purple shampoo). I should've known to walk out when she was asking a neighboring stylist how she should do my hair. I should've known then she wasn't experienced enough. I know she did her best, but now I have a head of highlight color that need to be corrected - which is not easy to do. Bleached hair is forever bleached. When I contacted Erica to complain, she wanted to re-highlight to try to correct it and I wasn't confident in letting her do anything to my hair again. She then offered me a partial refund and I asked for a full refund. After a bit of grief, she did give me a full refund, and then wouldn't recommend a toner I could use to correct my hair. I should also add that I also have a sever line of highlights showing with my roots which shows her technique is also inexperienced. Overall, I'm super regretful I went to this salon (salon experience is also not very nice or luxurious). I wouldn't recommend this salon or stylist. read more

It was nice that the salon was open on Monday (my reason for trying the place), but the haircut I ended up with was not what I showed the stylist. The layers do not blend as well as they should and the first layer is noticeable shorter on the back than the sides. Skip the round brush and curls if you'd like to see your true haircut. read more

I know this is long, but please read! My review is mainly about the customer service aspect of Salon Radiance. You already know they're incredible with the actual hair part :) I had scheduled an appointment over a month in advance for Saturday October 16th because my husband and I were getting our 3 year anniversary pictures done that next day on the 17th. You're supposed to receive a call or text from the stylist assigned to you before your appointment, but I never received anything. When I went in for my appointment, all of the stylists were confused that no one had reached out to me. 30 minutes into when my appointment was supposed to start, one of the stylists tells me that essentially my appointment had been cancelled on me (no need to bore you with extra details). I was obviously really disappointed and sad because I had planned for this, and I didn't know if any other place had availability before our pictures the next day. I texted the owner (Janan) letting her know what had happened and asked if there was anything she could do or if any other stylist had availability. She was really kind and apologetic and put in WORK trying to fix this for me. She ended up getting a stylist who usually takes Sundays off to COME IN the next day. My stylist, Ray, was incredible. Not only was he willing to come in on his day off to do my hair, but he was so kind about it. He took what could've been a truly sad situation and turned it into the best hair experience I've ever had. He's so knowledgeable about hair and truly worked his magic to make my hair look the absolute best it's ever looked. I asked for a balayage (which I had never gotten before) and the end result looked 10000x better than anything I could have imagined. In a word, it was perfection. At the end of the appointment he let me know that he and Janan were giving me several products for free for the inconvenience and were giving me a discount for the actual appointment. I was so grateful and appreciative. And blown away. My takeaway and hopefully yours as well: don't make up your mind about a business just because of a negative experience you had with one "employee". If I had, I wouldn't have had such an incredible experience with Salon Radiance. Janan and Ray truly showed me the meaning of great customer service and how much they value every single client. My hair turned out beautifully and I left feeling so well cared for. I felt like my business mattered to them. And that's huge. 100% recommend going with Salon Radiance and 10000% recommend going with Ray Harris if you want absolute hair perfection!!! read more

I've been trying for years to find a place that would do somewhat what I wanted. I found this place after a really bad bleaching experience and Christine's skills are spot on! The place is so cute and friendly and everyone seems to be friends which I love. But Christine completely transformed my hair to exactly what I wanted. Go see Andrea Armstrong!!! I moved here from NC and have had a terrible time trying to find someone who could do my blonde hair. I have been to two other salons prior to this one and came out unsatisfied both times. But not with Andrea. I spoke to her on the phone prior to my appointment and told her I was nervous. She said that she takes extra time during the first visit with a client to consult with them and make sure they are comfortable. Well she spent almost 4 hours on my hair and we discussed every detail, every step of the way through it. She did a blonde balayage on my hair and I am thrilled with both the color and cut. Finally! I have found my San Diego stylist. Although I have only seen Andrea once, I can honestly say that if you have any fears or previously bad experiences you need to call her. She will put you at ease and be completely honest with you in such a wonderfully caring and warm manner. It is hard to find such amazing hospitality out here but she is definitely one in a million when it comes to hairstylists. I can't praise her, and her work, enough. Also the salon is very nice with good lighting (which is always important for blondes). Parking can be tricky because it is in downtown La Mesa so it is best to drive down the little alley beside the salon where Andrea informed me that there is 4 hour parking so that you do not have to continue to feed the meter. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars. I would. I made an appointment for a women's haircut ($45) a few weeks ago from the website. This was my first time going to this salon so I wasn't assigned a stylist. Well, today was the day for my big haircut. I'm a stay at home mom and I never have time for myself so I was REALLY looking forward to my haircut today at a good salon (opposed to A discount haircut salon). I get there, nobody greets me. At all. Nobody turns from their client just to say "Welcome". 30 minutes pass after my appointment time at 10:30a, and I have to update my meter for parking. I wait at the front desk to let somebody know that I was leaving to pay my meter, one of the stylists gives me an extremely dirty look and looks at me like "Who are you?" Like I haven't been sitting there for 45 minutes after I checked in. I come back into the salon and was "greeted" by the same woman. I show her my email confirmation and texts from TODAY to confirm my appointment and she had no explanation, no apology. I left in tears because all I wanted to get a nice haircut, but I suppose this salon is too prestigious for moms like me. read more

Ashley is amazing. I called in around 1:30pm today to Salon Radiance 1 to see if they had any last minute appointments for a haircut and they did not, so the woman on the phone recommended I call Salon Radiance 2. I was able to get squeezed in right away at 2:30pm with Ashley, and since the salon was not that far from where I live I was able to get there in 10 minutes. Parking is not that bad. It is either metered or street parking. Make sure you put coins or use your card for the meter because if not, they will give you a parking fine of $35 (I overheard this from one of the hair stylists that was working next to Ashley's booth). All in all, the haircut was itself was $50 (includes shampoo/conditioner, blow dry, styling). I have medium-length hair and I asked Ashley to cut off a few inches, and trim my front bangs to a shorter length. She is a very comfortable girl to work with! We started up chatty conversations here and there, and the haircut was a breeze. Along the way she would always ask me if I liked the length, and if not she would cut it a little bit shorter. It made the whole process smooth and I look forward to visiting her again the next time I need a trimming done. On top of everything else, the other hair stylists and the salon overall is gorgeous! The products they use smell great, and the overall ambiance is great in my opinion. Will be back! read more

I am not from the area and I did a little research through friends and came across Salon Radiance 2. I have never actually EVER been fully satisfied with my haircuts. I am a 20 year old college student and sometimes I can be a little picky! Hehe. But I needed a haircut bad and I called the salon and Suzanne answered and was very polite and energetic and it made me feel happy and more enthusiastic to go there. Mandi Freeman Rickel is amazing! She is an expert at cutting fine super-straight hair, which is a difficult thing to find. I've never been disappointed in a cut. She's also helped me with blending clip-in extensions. All that said, her true talent is I color. I have been everything from blonde to peacock to rich brown and she's an absolute genius. I met Christine S. about a year ago when another stylist I had only seen once was unable to see me on the few days I had available. Like most women, seeing a new stylist is sometimes nerve wracking! I had my fair share of perms given to me by my grandmother in her kitchen, the same tight curled one she had, all the way to a mullet on my little 9 year old head...cried for a week! Needless to say, I was a bit hesitant. I didn't need to be! She totally listened to me when I said only half an inch...and this is on hair that hadn't been cut in over 6 months. She coaxed me into an inch and I also got all over beautiful warm black color, which with my german/irish skin can be a challenge not to make me look like Elvira! Six months later I returned having not had anything done to my hair since seeing Christine. I wanted to work towards longer, thicker hair...don't we all :) We talked it over as I can't stomach going every 6 weeks and compromised on every 8 weeks or so. I now have seen her about every 2 months for trims and color twice a year and I can tell you my hair is looking better than it ever has! On the days I just get a trim, it's usually after work so instead of styling the hair, she puts in a thick amazing hair mask that i sleep in overnight. Over and above her amazing abilities as a hair stylist, she has a flexible schedule which is great for me working a full time, part time and doing online classes. Evening appointments for me are key and she works with me which I so appreciate. Not to mention she is so positive and happy all the time, it's so much fun to go see her, it's like hanging with your girls in the salon for the hour! Thanks Christine! My hair Guru!
