Our original plan last Saturday was to eat at Iron Hill, which never disappoints, but the wait for a table was too long. So we decided to try Saloon 151. Mind you, it was only about 4 or 5 pm at this point. Ordered a Raging Bitch beer, one of my faves, but the waitress came back and said they were all out. Ordered potato soup, but guess what? They were all out. I ordered a chicken quesadilla. Was not impressed. And I don't really like my chicken cubed in quesadillas. My BF ordered a burger, medium rare, and asked for pickles on it. It came out well done and with no pickles. When he asked the waitress for the pickles, she came out with a pickle sliced the long way; kinda hard to put that on a burger. Not very impressive for a slow night. Service was OK but everything took a good amount of time. Drinks....20 minutes. Apps....another 20. Fries....45. Food was just ok. The worst Cuban Sandwich I have ever had, with that being said beer was ice cold and it is cool atmosphere especially for games.

Went there last night for drinks and apps. Really cool atmosphere inside and a nice outdoor area as well. Food was great- loved the fried pickles, and a nice selection of beer and whiskeys too. Our server was very attentive. Definitely a nice addition to the bar scene in West Chester. read more

We came to salon to watch a game- we politely asked the bartenders and servers to change the tv and they basically ignored us.

I came here for a couple of low-key drinks and was quite impressed. They had a good selection of beer and liquor and the food menu looked really delicious and had a pretty good selection although we didn't actually get any food. I loved the decor, thought it gave the place a great atmosphere. And most important: the staff was great!! They were all friendly, seemed to make a personal connection with everyone, and very responsive. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the restrooms. There are only two single restrooms, one for males one for females. Which really sucks when the female one is clogged and there are a few angry drunk male patrons who refuse to allow women to use the restrooms (at 8 pm at night even), people were still there for dinner! Definitely not the venues fault that someone clogged their toilet and the male patrons weren't nice, and I have to say that they were very responsive for it. However, I highly suggest they do away with the labels for single bathrooms. If it's one room, just make it a restroom for anyone who has to use it. read more

Well, I have to say for a non-whiskey lover, I love this bar! Great decor, GREAT Craft Beer selection on draft and in their takeout sidekick Crafty Dog which sells custom six packs of craft beer you select - AWESOME! I'm a Cheese Fry fanatic so the cheese fries with beef was my selection from the menu and it was just as good as it sounded. Did I say the food was reasonably priced especially for West Chester? Well it is, and today they came out with a new menu! It's a great place to see live music and they have patio seating which makes it a dog-friendly place and West Chester loves their dogs! I can't say enough good things about this place! The staff is new and they are learning the flow but they are so helpful, friendly and accommodating! Management has had a lot of experience in this area and really pulled this place together quick and right. Can't wait for the Craft Beer and food takeout section to formally open and see what's in store there! read more

5 Stars for the excellent bartenders. 0 stars for the food. I have had good food at Saloon in the past but am generally not impressed with the kitchen's consistency. Tonight was especially bad. I ordered fajitas and wings. The fajitas were overcooked and over-seasoned, and the wings under-crisped and over-sauced. These are very easy dishes to get right. My overall impression is that there is a serious quality control issue with this place. Any restaurant that serves sub-par specials (none of what I ordered was on special, but a friend did) is slacking in the back. Specials are an opportunity to get new costumers, but instead Saloon convinced me that they aren't worth the time or money. There are much better places in West Chester. If they are serving bad food, whoever is in charge must not care about getting new costumers or about the restaurant in general. If I were managing here, I would sack the kitchen staff tomorrow and give the front staff raises. read more

Where do I start? Great atmosphere with awesome live music! I had a great experience when I went. So many craft beers to choose from and a lot of whiskey, all reasonably priced. The Saloon 151 fries are without a doubt delicious. The staff was very nice and outgoing, seemed like they loved working there which is always a good sign. I had the roast beef sandwich, and it was very juicy with melted provolone cheese. My friend got the chicken tacos, which were also amazing with chipotle ranch on top of them. Also tried the Not Your Father's Rootbeer, so good and tastes exactly like rootbeer! Overall, I had an amazing experience and look forward to many more fun nights there! read more

Went there last night (7/2) for the first time with some friends. Granted, they have recently opened, but the all-female staff (no surprise for the newest lunkhead establishment in town) was unprepared and there was no management in sight. We sat down with only meal menus (the drink list folder was empty) and no one came over to us for more than 15 minutes. We finally had to go ask for a drink menu, and a waitress, from the hostess. The drink menu contained no special cocktails, as a new saloon themed bar might, and the draft list was not complete. We had to ask our waitress, when she finally came over, what the Victory on tap was and it took her 10 minutes and two additional wait staff to find out. Through the course of the meal, every time the waitress asked us a question she would evitably get the answer incorrect. "Do you want some more drinks?" "No, thank you." Three minutes later we had another round. When our apps finally came out: "your meal is almost ready too, do you want that to come out now or wait?" "Since we just got our apps, could we hold off a bit? And woukd you mind grabbing us some plates for these apps?" Our meals came before the plates did. All the food was mediocre at best, with flavorless wings and the dryest cajun chicken in the 151 salad I have ever eaten. The fried pickles earned these two stars. After the meal we sat for 20 more minutes waiting for someone, anyone, to clear a few dishes or ask us...anything. When the perhaps manager? dude came over to help bus our dishes, he awkwardly cleared one plate and had trouble even asking us how the meal was. For a manager, you'd hope he'd be a little more connected to his new local patrons and get a sense of our experience. Very disappointed as the decor is actually kinda cool, and there's no country establishment in town. Hope they get it together but all in all it's just another western-themed "sports" bar which will be the cool new hangout for the Barnaby's/Landmark crowd. Really had high hopes of a cool new bar in town, guess we will just have to go to the upcoming Split Rail Tavern. read more

Saloon 151 is a really fun spot. The bar looks like something from the old west. The food menu is awesome for drinking, fries with a fun variety of toppings! Amazing idea, love it. There were a number of things I'd like to eat on this menu and had a hard time picking just one thing. Service was good at the bar, not amazing but my standards are high. I don't drink whisky and was able to find lots of other choices that I drink at other bars. I don't think the whisky as the only form of alcohol thing will last though, especially for people going out for the night and bar hopping. People like to drink "their" drink and not face an exclusive whisky menu. I hope they don't lose patrons to this because it's such a cool spot. read more

The prices were pretty good, especially for drinks and specials. I liked their short rib fries as well. We were disappointed with a few things though. I tried to order the French onion soup and they were "out of it". My mom ordered crab cakes and they were out of those too! The waitress said "it was a busy weekend"...so are these things premade? Frozen? How do you run out of French onion soup?? Ordered a Caesar salad instead and for $8 it was crap. The dressing and croutons were clearly bought in bulk and there was powdery Parmesan cheese and big slices of red onion on it. MIGHT try it again and go with a burger, but definitely not a place I would frequent. read more

Sadly the worst meal we've had in a long time. After being informed the first 3 items we attempted to order were not available we finally settled on meals. After waiting 40 mins and not bright adequate silverware for the table, I was disappointed to find my pasta sitting in blood from the steak. After cutting into the steak and finding it not only not cooked but ice cold, basically completely raw in the center. I sent it back. It finally came out after the rest of my party had already finished they're meal and it was slightly better but about half of the steak was still cold and raw. This was an hour and 15 mind after the order was placed. The server was apologetic but I was still charged 15$ for a steak I couldn't eat. We weren't offered boxes for anything. Another party member ordered ribs that were also poorly done complaining about flavor and quality. He was also unable to complete his meal. 1 member of our party became physically ill during his meal and had to leave. Very disappointing all around. read more

Friendly staff, great selection of craft beers, both bottled and on tap, and too many whiskeys to choose from. The Sriracha shrimp is a great starter if you like spicy foods, and my go to meal choices are tacos (so many choices) or the brisket! You really can't go wrong with anything there though. We went here for dinner for the first time this evening, it was below average. The service left a lot to be desired and the food was awful. We had wings that weren't cooked, and one of the entree fries... the fries were under cooked and the rest of the toppings left us wondering what they forgot to add. Made a reservation for my family of 15 people that were in for thanksgiving. Called the day of to make an adjustment to the reservation, and they said everything was ok. Showed up to the restaurant and they claimed that they do not take reservations, only call ahead seating. They did not try to accommodate us in any way for their screw up. Place is good not great. We got food to go. We started with the Mac and cheese appetizer which was $5 for a medium/smallish tub of decent but somewhat bland Mac and cheese. I got the brisket sandwich which was decent but was lacking in coldslaw so it was mostly just meat and bread. My girlfriend got the saloon burger medium well but it ended up being medium at most if not a little on the medium rare side. She enjoyed the burger but keep in mind the Kaiser rolls are a lot of bread so she took some of it off. Kaiser rolls were also a little hard. Chips are very good and well seasoned. Overall it was decent, not great. I'd give 2.5 stars if I could. With so many great places to eat in West Chester we probably won't be going back here too much. read more

Had a follow up visit to see if things had improved since my dismal first visit. I ordered the same burger I ordered on my first visit. Sorry I did. Burger burnt again and the egg was cooked to the point where the white was crispy and brown. The service was again painfully slow and inattentive. Really excited to finally get here. The food was good- brisket and burgers in particular. However, although there are two pages of whiskeys to choose from, the cocktail menu is dull. In a day when cocktails are making a comeback, they need to be more creative and up their game- take Village Whiskey or Fette Sau as a model. Then we will back as regulars. read more

I really wanted this place to be great, but for some reason it fell short. I was hoping for a genuine country saloon, but what I got was some barn siding, a few rustic signs, and I think some country music in the background. Strangely the majority of the place was covered with HD TVs. The food was average....pub fair. Service was good. Whiskey prices a tad high for a 1 oz pour, but I'd be happy to pay it if they reexamined their concept. (Please also add whisky flights every night.). How about adding a Player Piano or addIng some Nashville flair instead of all of the TVs. A wood floor might also help. I'll give it another go down the road. The place has potential. read more

How disappointed? Let me count the ways: I've given this place a chance - TWICE! Both times very underwhelming. I placed a basic to-go order of two appetizers, and when I arrived to pick it up, I had to stand around for another 15 minutes. (which also happened the first time I tried spending my money here) There was not one active table in the entire place! The manager was completely unsympathetic.Not even a mild apology. The new country music that they blare in there is torturous, and the staff wreaks of incompetence. I over heard a patron at the bar having to explain to the bartender the difference between Bourbon and Whiskey. Really?! Isn't that like, bartending 101? Who's running this place? Don't waste your time/money on just another sports bar with too many TV's, mediocre food, and an inexperienced staff. read more
